i have a note 4 on t mobile. i just rooted my phone (first root ever) using the method described on here no issues. my phone worked normal for a day and now today when i try to send a text message it shows that it is sending and will be like that for an extended period of time 30 mins plus and when someone text messages me it takes 30 plus minutes to reviece it. i have reset the phone pulled the battery restarted the phone i dont know what else to do on why it would be causing this issue is it because of the root?? or something else or is there a fix for it......thanks guys

Do you have a recovery in place? Try wiping your dalvik and cache.
Also, try wiping the cache on the messaging app. IS there a different messaging app you are using? What you are describing only happens with me on the google messaging app. Safe to assume no special rom in place, baby steps?
P.S I'm 99.9% sure rooting is not the issue, so you can calm down if you think rooting broke your messaging
ok you are speaking greek to me lol. i am very very new to this. i just rooted using the method listed in the t moble note 4 root. not the custom one just the first step with the root file. phone is stock besides that no special messaging apps just what came with the phone. i have had the phone for 3 months never had a issue. i rooted yesterday and now today im having this issue. everything else on the phone works just sending and recieving texts is messed up

Relax... Take a deep breath... there is one important thing to realize now that you have rooted your phone. You can fix just about any software problem you could have.
Root should not effect the sms or the mms though. So my guess is it is an apn issue. Do you have the correct apn set up? [Google search: Tmobile APN]
If the above doesnt work,Then next thing I would try is to go into TWRP recovery and fix your permissions. [Google search: How to fix permissions in TWRP]
If neither of those work I would try using TWRP to clear your cache and your davlink cache. [Google search: How to wipe cache in TWRP]
Finally If none of those work then my next idea would be to use ODIN to flash the NK4 stock ROM and then reroot using cf auto root. Then use Odin to flash TWRP again. http://galaxynote4root.com/galaxy-note-4-root/how-to-root-galaxy-note-4/

I used the auto root file from there. This is my first attempt at this and it's very confusing lol. Whole reason I rooted is because of unlimited wifi Hotspot which works perfectly

BAD ASS NOTE 4
I see,
I will suggest you do some readings my friend...it comes with rooting. Do what @ShrekOpher suggested and do the google search he placed. If you do not have a crash course in what comes with rooting and how to get out of jam...especially what TWRP can do, how to install it, the benefit of it...it will be hard for anyone to help you. Ultimately, we will all be talking greek to you lol
Do not panic, for now download a third party messenger and read around than get back to fixing your stock messenger. Good luck! Google is your best friend!
P.S You can also search the terms he suggested with in XDA as well, a lot of good guides and questions for beginners. You have to be able to search and read read read, its a nice way to get rooting knowledge

Ooops I should have said, if he didn't want to factory reset his phone and find a temporary fix he should try turning off wifi.
I remember a thread during the first week about this, updating to nj7 and making sure my apn was set to TMobile US LTE fixed my issue.

Hey,
this problem started only today and has never happened before. The only things changing were some app updates and a few new installs. I already uninstalled all of the apps installed in the last few days in hopes of reverting the situation but it didn't help. And after I made the first reboot when the apps began to force close randomly it looked like a semi factory reset was made. All my contacts are gone, there are no SMS/call logs, but all SMSes, pictures and videos are still there. If I try to open the Market app it asks me if I accept TOS, Gmail is not set, mobile internet is not working (due to reset settings), Wi-Fi and bluetooth settings are still there. In short, everything is half-fuc*ed.
What do you thing happened? And is there any possibility I can go back to a normal state without starting from fresh?

i9000 random loss of data
Yes, this is a rather old thread I'm trying to revive here, but as it is adviced to continue those instread of duplicating them, here are my issues:
I gave my i9000 to a relative ~a year ago and recently it started acting strange. About 1-2 times a month I get a call from that relative saying: "I get a lot of force closes, phone is unusable, nothing works". I then walk over, take a look and yes, unusable. It appears that all information in the /system partition gets lost for no reason. The relative told me that this usually happens when some google apps are updating, but it might still be random.
Currently MackayRom (latest) is installed.
Usually when I got the call, I hopped over to my relative, did a factory reset (wipe of /system and /data + Cache and Dalvik Cache) then reflashed the ROM and Gapps and everything looked good again. Sadly the issue continues to return.
What I tried so far is a complete wipe of anything, reverting to a stock TW Rom, and going back to an AOSP Rom from there (first CM 11, then Mackay). The issue appeard to be gone afterwards, I didn't hear from that relative for an unusual amount of time, but after a month or 1 1/2, it returned.
My guess is, that one of the chips that are containing the /system partition is broken or at least close to die (I'm not sure if it is just one or multiple chips, since the CM Team or Pawit himself changed something in the partition structure somewhere between cm10, cm10.1 and cm11 to ensure the compatibility of that old device with KitKat). Anyways, I'd love to hear any ideas or suggestions on how to solve this issue (although I reached a point where I think that solving this isn't possible anymore, unless I wanna swap the Mainboard, which would mean paying an amount of money that I could get a new phone for as well.) Soon as I have the time, I'll Odin-flash the latest TW Rom to the device and have my relative use that for a while, just to see if the different/older partition structure helps in any way.
Thanks in advance for any replies .
The principal of out school turned in her Tab 7 inch, they no longer want to pay $60 a month for 3G thats slower then a 14.4 dial-up!
It was given to out Tech Department and I snagged it to play with.
OK first thing, it's FC'ing on various apps. I decided to factory restore the unit by booting into Samsung's recovery and wiping the data and and clearing the cache.
This reset it but our principals gmail is still on the phone. It's the primary account. I can NOT get it to delete.
I found a thread here with a official Samsung flashing tool. This one:
Sprint_Galaxy_Tab_EA24_Flasher.zip
It seems to have worked, it got the device back to EA24. However when I reboot, it's FC'ing even more and the principals gmail is still there.
Well, it now sees an update called: EB28
It downloads it then boots into recovery and nothing more happens. No option to update, flash etc.
Also now EVERY TIME I restart/reset this device its like it's been factory reset, all the apps I installed are GONE, my Wi-Fi is GONE, and it FC's like crazy.
Contracts done on this phone so Sprints not going to do anything. Help! I'd like to get Gingerbread on this.
Thanks!
Wow, no one has one of these or has any advice?
Some updates on things I've noticed.
Well, previous to my original post, I was STOCK, non-ROOTED. This morning I used Roddricks guides to flash to ROOT with CWM via Odin.
It seems to have worked OK, I have root and I'm on the stock ROOTED Gingerbread but I STILL had all the default Google accounts. I booted back into CWM and did a complete data wipe and installed CM7. That worked too however when I booted it immediately said NOOK had forced closed...? OK, well I ignored that and installed a couple .apk's I had on my memory card and changed my wallpaper. Then I rebooted into Recovery again and flashed the Google Apps. Upon rebooting I saw no google apps and my wallpaper and installed apps were GONE. I was back to stock CM like it was just installed.
Now keep in mind I had done a FULL wipe to everything in CWM prior to flashing CM7. I booted the device BACK to the download mode and used Odin to re-flash Roddricks stock ROOT and kernel.
Upon booting the phone I'm back to stock Gingerbread and guess what? The default Google account is BACK and so are the two pre-added wireless networks.
WHY IN THE HELL WON'T THIS THING WIPE and why does it keep resetting to just installed defaults when I reboot.
I see I am not the only person with this issue. Someone else made a thread just the other day saying their 7 inch Tab resets on reboot too.
Can someone give us some pointers? In my case I can install custom ROM's but I have to set everything back up EVERY TIME I reboot? Come on, that's not [email protected]#@[email protected]#$
Firstly, it sounds like you're not actually doing the right kind of wipe. You want factory reset / wipe. Either from recovery or within the stock firmware.
Once you successful do this, all downloaded apps and account settings will be gone.
Next up it seems you're not actually managing to install custom firmware. You'll need to specify more details about what you've done and read carefully what appears on screen and report on it if you want useful advice.
Sent from my GT-P1000 using XDA App
I've done the factory reset from stock firmware, I've done the factory reset from CWM 4 and 5.
I've manually wiped from adb using rm -R and rm -rf for /dbdata /system /cache /data, all of which appear to be wiped and then doing an "ls" reports the directors are GONE.
Then I flashed stock GB stock rom, booted up and guess what? My default gmail and wirless networks were STILL there.
Adb'ed back after a root'ed kernel and manually went into the folders and deleted EACH file, then backed out and deleted the folders. Rinse, wash and repeat with the ROM and guess what? default Googles still there along with the Wireless.
Also one thing to note is that with every one of these wipes, boots, flashes etc, lets say I setup the Tab and install a couple apps, add my wireless, change my wallpaper etc, when I reboot, it's ALL gone. The Tab's back to default fresh like I just flashed.
Spent like an hour with Rodderik in the #gtab channel trying to figure this out.
Ok. I believe you.
I still can't rationalize what is happening there. One thing you can trust about computers is they do what they are told. However, sometimes it's hard to understand what you've told then to do.
Kies knows how to restore user state. It's also somewhat evil in terms of still running when you've quit it. Make sure Kies is not running.

sounds like somehow you may have a read only nand mode going on...strange haven't heard of this problem with the samsung its quite popular with the dell streak 7....in the dell streak 7 many people have to send it back to dell to repair it no other way... as for it on the samsung like i said never heard of the problem but if you can't reset properly or everything reverts to a state upon reboot then you may have whats called read only mode basically anything you install change add once you reboot the device it erases everything you did to it....from what i have read its a failsafe in linux try reading a few of the dell streak 7 problems with read only mode it may help in understanding and maybe finding a solution good luck. then again i may be wrong but just what you described sounds similar.
I would just load a new rom like overcome gbsafe_v5

same same same issue bro with my tab too its p100 too any solution's???
Hi Guys,
I have a strange problem with my galaxy tab. I bought it from ebay.
The guy from whom i bought it seems to have installed z4mod. Which ever application I tap force closes and a very few applications work like settings, music, browser. Any new app i install ends up force closing.
The strange thing is that whatever app i install vanishes on reboot. It is not a factory reset though, the apps installed by the previous guy will still be there. Factory reset doesn't work either.
I have tried using super one click and it hangs. Odin doesn't detect the tab in recovery mode.
andriod version is 2.3.4.
Any help is welcome..
Cheers.
I just started a thread about some issues my Tab is having too. Same model too.
I'm also getting resets on reboot. I'm going to hit sprint tonight on the way home, this ones not rooted. I'll let you know what I figure out with this one. Might help, might not.
I tried to factory reset the thing with Samsungs own app, didnt work, made the FC's worse.

Hi,
I'm wondering if anyone found a solution yet.
I just bought a refurbished Samsung Galaxy Tab P100 from ebay. Every time I reboot, it resets the Tab and is as if I never entered my Google account credentials. It also erases any apps I've downloaded and deletes wifi settings.
A factory reset did not help.
The screen where you do the factory reset says:
Android system recovery <3e>
Samsung Recovery Utils
- for BML -
Does anyone know if this is the original or rooted?
I hope someone has a solution because I want it keep it!
Thanks!

If a factory reset doesn't fix the issue, then the device likely has a defective internal storage chip. Return it.

"DITTO" for which problem?
for the problem on the OP, I think the problem above has to do with conflicting google account settings from the old owner to the new one.
If this is true,
Factory reset, and enter new google account on the tab. start google play, let it update itself and download an app to test. it with.
This should fix force closes. DO NOT use any google settings from titanium backup.
Hi everyone,
I finally might have figured out how to fix the ghost call issues and the reorginizing internal process problem... it has been 10 days that I have had no ghost calls and no RIP.
After many hours arguing with LG (who after all 12 calls still said they never heard of this problem before). The only advice they could offer me was to send my phone to repairs.
I decided to do a final attempt and if it didn't work I would have sent my phone in 3 times to get a different phone and end this nightmare.
So I did a factory reset on my phone.
The problem was still there.
I heard about keeping the CPU above 600mhz all the time and while that temporarily worked it came back.
I loaded the recovery mode and factory reset from there and I also cleared the cache. that didn't work.
After more research I found that putting the phone in 2g will help. While this was true it was still happening but a lot less.
I decided to explore the world of Roms and that's where the fix came in.
My phone is rooted. Big thank you to Dan
I am running V20c 2.3.5
I Formatted my internal SD and my external.
I installed clockwork mod and backed up my stock rom... I then booted into recovery mode and cleared every cache option (2 on first screen and dalvik in advanced. The only exception was battery stats with CWM.
After doing all that, I had to leave so I figured I would look for a new rom another time. That was 15 days ago. After a week I realized that I haven't been getting the RIP or the GC problem... seeing as how it was hard to check I forwarded all my calls from my home office line to my cell phone so that if the call was not answered it would go to my cell after the 2nd ring. To this day (10 days later)... every call on that phone has been registered on my cell... therefore I believe that CWM IS THE KEY TO OUR PROBLEMS
*JUST NOTE THAT I SAVED MY SD CARD TO MY PC SO I HAD A EXTRA BACKUP SHOULD NEED BE.*
**WHEN I DID IT, I FORMATTED WITH CWM**
so after all that here's the process...
*WORKS ON V20C 2.3.5 ROGERS*
1. ROOT
2. FORMAT EVERYTHING (SETTINGS/STORAGE...)
3. VERIFY THAT YOU STILL HAVE ROOT (YOU SHOULD)
4. INSTALL CWM
5. BACKUP YOUR DEFAULT ROM (NEVER KNOW)
6. ENTER CLOCKWORK RECOVERY
7. CLEAR ALL CACHE EXCEPT BATTERY STATS (I DID NOT TOUCH ANY PARTITIONS OPTIONS)
8. GO BACK IN YOUR PHONE
9. DO NOT PUT BACK YOUR BACKUP ROM
***Remember this is working for me on Rogers V20c 2.3.5***
I made a titanium backup of all my Apps but I am not restoring them I am redownloading from scratch. I do not know if it will cause issues with the GC/RIP issues.
Good luck to all of you and I hope that you finally get to enjoy our cursed phones. I had RIP messages easily every 2 hours and for 15 days I haven't seen a single one and all my calls are working.
Thank you to Dan for Root and the Creator of CWM for saving us.

CWM isn't the issue. It's the baseband.
CWM is on a different partition than the baseband and is not active until it is called. Ghost calls still exist because 2.3.5 in general has this issue. 2.3.6 fixed ghost calls.

Wait. You should remove the notices for BRICKING.
Reason being as it is only applicable to CyanogenMod. It has an option to use the sdcard for data instead. Stock doesn't.
Formatting sdcard and emmc in ClockworkMod will not and can not brick your device on a LG Firmware.
This, again, does not include CyanogenMod.
Now. As for fixing the problem, I've done this method and still have ghost calls.
You will ALMOST always get ghost calls with 2.3.5.

I assume this because all devices friends have ranging from Nexus to Samsung to HTC with 2.3.5 had ghost calls and when they updated to 2.3.6, ghost calls disappeared. They were on stock as well.

i know a little on some things but im not as technical as most of you. but any help would be greatly appreciated.

What version of Kingo did you try? Use 1.1.5 or 1.1.8. People have had success with that. 1.1.8 worked for me. Just Google around and you will find the download on the net somewhere.

that sucks. factory reset? ill most likely still have the issue but maybe not. isnt there a way to completely wipe the phone from the boot screen? id rather not if i dont have to.
You can try a factory reset and then root. If not there is a thread in the general section to go back to stock. Works great. I used it.

but arent i technically back to stock? since i dont have root access? this is very confusing to me. if my carrier didnt push that update i wouldnt be in this boat
You are but we can't figure out why you can't root when others in your situation can. There is Kingo thread you can check out. Maybe you can find some answers there.

Factory Reset after the update to NB4, also go to recovery wipe cache, then try the 1.18, during the rooting process, look your phone screen, you need to click accept something twice,
I don't know how it all works terribly well but you said you still have Safestrap? Can you still install ROMs and can they have root?
Also, for when you eventually do get it working again. I recommend freezing the ATT updater. It can be awful when it eventually FORCES an update.
I got a free app called App Quarantine and froze "AT&T Software Update".

You will just have to follow the restore to MJ5 thread. The instructions are simple and very easy to follow. Go slow and follow them to the T.
What they do not mention however is do not use a 3.0 USB port. Only 2.0 will work.
Just follow that.
It is literally impossible to brick this phone to the point of it being unrecoverable. There is a tutorial to restore from hard bricks without J-Tag.

Hey graydiggy, I did the restore back to MJ5, but can't seem to get the last step for rooting to work. I tried every way with putting the rdlv on internal...unzipped and zipped. I even tried doing the same on the external sd as well. When I reboot supersu doesn't do anything. Any suggestion on how to get the last step to work?
Thanks in advance for your help.

It has to be unzipped and on the internal. You have to reboot a few times for it to activate. After the first reboot, let the phone sit for a few minutes and then reboot again. You should be good to go after that.
