[Q] Pure Edition XT1095 T-Mobile Can't get data [Resolved] - X 2014 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Grabbed a Moto X 2014 Pure from Motorola from the Cyber Monday sale. Got it on Thurs and activated online and set up a prepaid account with phone number transfer. Phone port was not completed until a little after midnight Sunday morning after repeated calls to TMo support. Paid the plan and set up auto pay, recieved confirmation around 8 AM Sunday that payment was received and credited to account. I am still unable to connect to data services. Have spoken to support via live chat for about an hour, and technical support on the phone for another hour, still nothing. At first it showed Edge (E with exclamation signal icon) and I was able to connect, albeit slowly (less than 100KB according to FCC speed test). After all the troubleshooting with support now I dont even get that (icon is the same, but no connection at all). They had me verify, reset, then manually create new APN. Ensure TMo is selected as network. still can't connect. Support has escalated to engineering but before I wasted more time with TMo support, wanted to see if anyone here has any ideas or has dealt with anything similar in the past?
Edit: Disregard, when I went out to dinner I figured I'd take the phone to see if it really was just my specific area having an issue. Once I got a few blocks away I connected to LTE. Speeds were "only" around 10 Mbps down, but better than nothing (or Edge, which is basically the same lol) despite the fact that both the online map and two reps stated my location was in "excellent coverage". Don't see an option to delete the thread but it can be ignored.

Can't connect to internet through 3!! Help!!

Searched and searched but can't find anything about this. Due to living in an area with poor mobile reception (except orange but their data rates are extortionate) I've decided to trial some PAYG sims to see which will be usable. I am getting an excellent reception on the 3 sim but the roaming triangle appears at the top of the screen. I think it is roaming on the orange network. Thing is I've just payed £5 for the internet add on but I cant actually connect to the net!! Any page I try and load it just loads 1 byte and then stops. I've gone through the automatic setting and also tried it manually. Tried switching the phone settings to WCDMA but then I get nothing at all!!
Can anybody please help before I go INSANE!!!!
I use Orange and pay £5 for unlimited 1900-07:00 & weekends and then a maximum of £1.50 per day upto 25mb downloaded.
Is that what they told you about charges?
A further update on this issue. Having read a thread on the 4win forum I decided that it may be a dodgy sim card as i had purchased it off ebay. So today I toddled off to the nearest 3 shop for a new sim card. Whilst in there I decided to show the guy (who had never even seen or heard of the kaiser) the problem I was having. Would you believe it, it worked spot on, presumably because the shop was located in an area recieving a 3 3g signal. Thus it must indicate that you can only get on the internet in 3 service areas and not whilst roaming on other networks. Can anyone confirm if this is actually the case?
nope, I use a PAYG sim and it works roaming or not, use it for direct push and nmotes and all works fine. Using the £5 internet bolton, and faked the kaiser as a Nokia N95
Flubster
On Three, when my TYTN II flips over to GPRS or a little triangle (EDGE?) (and presumably at that point I'm roaming on orange at that point), I find I can't get anything downloaded either.
I wonder if there is something in Three phones that allow them to work on roaming?
The little triangle indicates that the phone is roaming on another network. I believe it's Orange at the moment. It used to be O2 and by 2009 it will be T moblie. I've still had no joy rectifying it anyway (although I am trying!!)
Latest update:
Emailed 3 customer service last night and spoke with them today. The lady told me that there was no way I would ever be able to access the internet on a none 3 branded phone (so God only knows why they sold me the £5 internet option). I explained that I didn't need a free phone or anything off them just a sim only contract that would enable me to access the internet. Having been told that this was absolutely not possible (believe me I tried) I had no alternative but to request a PAC code. I still refuse to believe, however that 3 would turn a perfectly good potential customer away just because he didn't want one of their phones?! It just doesn't make any sense!!! Barring any further developments (hopefully someone on here knows something I don't) I will have to turn to the dark side and go to Orange (

I have an unlocked kaiser. i have a three Payg sim and a contract orange sim.
3sim works fine on net and mail for 3network, on roaming gprs net doesnt work but mail does with same connection.
Orange sim works fine for gprs on both net and mail.

Lycamobile

If you haven't heard of LycaMobile...It's a T-Mobile MNVO..
My AHD is Carrier Unlocked so I can use AT&T or T-Mobile, I got tired of paying 45+taxes for StraightTalk (AT&T) since I am mostly on wifi and don't really need the speed when I am not...
so i bought an unlock code and switched to Ultramobile last month because of their 19$ plan but they only give you 50mb of data
that was an issue for me and I didn't want to pay 39$ for their unlimited 2g when I could get GoSmart for 35$...
The other day I learned Lyca has the same plan as Gosmart but for 29$ (unlimited talk, text and 2g)
I waited too long to port my number from Ultra and lost it....
I've had Lyca service less then 2 hours and so far the only problem I had is their porting process,
It wasn't as fast as it was for me when I ported from other companies....
I've ported my number to and from a few companies and it always took less then 10 hours
I stupidly assumed 12 hours would be enough this time aswell,
Anyway 29$ sounds like a great deal I just hope I don't end up having issues with their service,
I figured I'd let people in the AHD section know about Lyca and post updates if I have any problems.
Maybe others have had experience with Lycamobile .

I've had lyca for almost 7 days now and at first I was having signal issues at home and it made it hard to have long text messages it was annoying, texts would get stuck at sending but seems good now after i went to Holoblur from Liquidsmooth.
Originally i thought lyca went to unlimited 2g after the first 50mb but turns out it's 3g.
To to be sure i downloaded a 100mb video last night, at 1.5-2mb which seems to be my average data speed on lyca since day 1... anyway i'm still getting 1.5-2mb on speedtest.net today so Lyca is even more worth it for me now that i know it's unlimited 3g instead of a slow 2g..
I used to use testmy.net in the browser but for some reason after i flashed holoblur 0.9 last night testmy.net says Forbidden.
So at the moment the only issue I have with Lyca is that they don't have mms but i can live with that if my data speeds stay at at least 800kbs.
I also forgot to backup my contacts when i flashed holoblur 0.9 last night , I had 2 contacts i had added that day...I am lucky Lyca keeps a call log online.

Sounds good. Although do they have any 3G plans.
I don't mind a 250mb 3G plan vs unlimited 2G
http://www.lycamobile.us/en/national-plans
It's a similar concept to T-Mobile's in that you get an allotment of 4G (3G) data and then it goes to 2G speed. Looks very interesting. Thinking of switching to their 1GB plan after I use up all my T-Mobile credit. The $20 credit for international calls is a winner for me. I assume there's no LTE,
I just saw a guy handing out lycamobile booklets, I told him have the service we talked a minute..I mentioned my plan and 2g ..he claimed it goes to 3g after that 50mb of 4g...I hope that's true. 3g is like up to 800kbs or something iirc...so that would be great.
That sounds like a pretty sweet phone plan. I might switch over to it once my contract ends. Do let us know if there are any problems you may run into.:good:

1 month of service and I'm happy so far, feels like as time goes by my service becomes more stable. The first 2 weeks I was losing service often and had problems sending texts and had a few calls drop.. but been good the past week or so.
Gave them a try as well. I only used them temporarily to place international calls but the one time that I did it whle driving I didn't see any difference with the T-Mobile service. So far,
- Call quality to landlines in Europe was excellent.
- Call quality to cell phones in Europe was decent. On a single incidence the volume was too loud and it distorted. I don't think this was Lycamobile's problem.
- I can't get the online recharge to work. I enter all my info and at the end I get the message the transaction failed. I see the temporary authorization on my credit card, and it later goes away. I was only able to add credit by going to a local cell phone store.
- Customer service is in India. They are not allowed to request credit card information, so they couldn't do the recharge.
- Online customer service only got me the autorespond email and nothing after that.
- Calls (pay as you go) are charged at 20+ seconds longer than the call as timed by the phone itself.
- The sim card doesn't have the APN info for data. I didn't want to use data, so I didn't enter an APN.
- International roaming in Europe worked fine and at 46¢/min it beats AT&T and T-Mobile's $1.29, $1.39 or $1.79, and matches what European pay as you go carriers charge when roaming within Europe.
Given that I couldn't get any credit card to process on their website, I couldn't buy a sim card from their website either. One store sold them for $10, another for $5, and they go for 99¢ on eBay.
I think I'm going to try h2o next. Their $49/mo plans are very comparable: unlimited voice, domestic and international texts, 1GB data. Lycamoble gives $20 credit for international calls (1¢/min land-8¢/min cell in Europe) whereas h2o has unlimited landline (certain countries) and gives $40 credit for 20-30¢/min (in Europe) calls to cell phones. h2o also has mms but doesn't roam internationally.
Lyca sends free sims. And the first time I called customer support the person sounded Indian but every time after that I have gotten customer support from the UK.

Oh thats new..there wasn't a shipping fee ...but you can get them for a dollar or less from amazon or eBay .
Updates:
- Online recharge works for me now
- Lycamoble responded via email that calls are billed from the time the call is placed (including ring time)

yeah i also get mine for free about a month ago, happy w the service so far! :good::good:
They did end up losing some text messages for me. I confirmed that these were sent as SMS and not MMS.
Also, they automatically put me on the $39 plan without me doing so, when I added $40 credit in my account. Even though I requested to cancel the auto-renew and got the confirmation text, I still got a text on the renewal date that there were insufficient funds to renew my plan.
Other annoyances:
There is no voicemail integration. I never got the voicemail notification icon when I had voicemail. They sent a text message instead. Also, the voicemail service number did not get automatically integrated and I had to program it myself.
My number did not show in the phone info screen. Instead it showed +10000000000.

I also noticed international SMS plan doesn't work or I'm using some other APN settings. Can anyone confirm?
I'm using Google voice so MMS is no big deal for me actually. I don't use anyways lol.
I also don't what why the number appears like that but they have a dial up combination that shows the number on your screen, I guess it was *613#
And my phone always shows R (stands for roaming) and doesn't show the data speed letter like 4g 3g etc
Did anyone have the same issue too?
Note: I currently break my Atrix HD these were the issues I faced when it was working.

I used the 29$ plan for a few months and it was good service, i hardly use my phone so i stopped using a plan a few months ago and i had like 17$ on my account, atm it's only down to $8, at 2c per min ,since i don't text i am only paying a few $ a month for my service.

Can you share your APN settings?

I switched to Spot Mobile yesterday so I can't see on my phone now but I had the recommended settings on the Lycamobile page:
APN: data.lycamobile.com
Username: lmus
Password: plus
APN Type: default,supl,admin,dun
Everything else blank.
Hi all,

I have set all as it should be but with no result.
Thanks for the info

[Q] No service at home as of two days ago. Stock Droid 4.

As of Tuesday the 22nd I have had no service at my house. Prior to that, I didnt have the best service, but I could still make and receive calls. I was on the phone with Verizon for over an hour on the 23rd. After an hour of troubleshooting and a hard reset they decided my SIM was bad. On my way to the verizon store in my area (about 4 miles away, I got full service (including 4g) back. Verizon store recommended I wait and see what happens, as I would have to pay for a SIM (not a corporate store), and sent me on my way.
Phone worked fine until I pulled back into my driveway a couple hours later. Complete loss of service again until I left home the next morning. Same thing this time except I pinned down where I get service again (about a quarter mile from home) and found that I get service a few blocks from home the other direction.
Went to the Verizon store again to get a SIM, just to keep them happy, and nothing changed. I opened a ticket with Verizon and they will get back to me by Monday or Tuesday...wonderful. Anyone have any ideas?? Phone is out of contract so I dont care what I do to it. I also have no intentions of renewing my contract with them.
Any assistance is greatly appreciated.
try updating plr, by dialing *228 option 2
or
try turning on roaming menu>system settings>wireless networks more>mobile networks
Thanks for the reply. We tried going through all that with customer service to no avail. They ended up opening a trouble ticket for my issue, and the conclusion was that I was in an area with "marginal coverage". Couple friends in the area noticed less signal strength at the same times, but didnt lose service like I did. I have now dropped service with Verizon and switched to ATT. Full 4g everywhere now. I now have 2 Droid 4's for sale if anyone is looking for one. $125 plus shipping. Also on Swappa.

Help on getting phone working on straight talk.

Long story short. I was using a Verizon branded note 2 on straight talk when my contract ended with verizon. I grew tired of the phone and purchased the blu vivo xl from amazon a few days ago. Now I know that my sim in my Verizon wouldn't work on the blu phone because it's not compatible.
So I went on chat to switch my Verizon sim to an att sim from the same byop package (which also came with a tmobile sim) They said that it could take anywhere from an hour to 2 days to convert over, and that I'll know when it happens because my note 2 will stop working. Sure enough it stopped and a bit later my blu phone started getting a signal and 4G icon.
However, it was in and out all night and since then I haven't got it back. Frustrated, I then switched it to the tmobile sim. I get the 4G lte icon and arrows move up and down. My signal goes from 2/4 bars to 3/4 bars. Now I'm thinking good that's more than what att was able to do. Wrong. Well not completely.
I can send a text and my wife will get it. Not really slow but not normal. She'll reply and I can receive it. But I can't access the internet, and I can't call or receive calls. Went on chat they gave me apns to input and still nothing. I still get 4G icon and I still get service.
I really like this phone but this transition has been really draining.
Thanks you for your help.
I have no idea, I had a really smooth transition activating it onto metro. Maybe you just have spotty coverage with straight talk in your area? I'll try looking for more info

Correct. The phone is loaded with apns that matched what they gave me. The straight talk for att and tmobile.
So as an update, I bought a tmobile sim, (not straight talk this time) the phone received texts from tmobile for this and that. I have good signal as indicated from the bars. 4G lte icon is on (but no data due to not having a tmobile account, but the sim is allowed 30 texts and 30 minutes of talk time until I get one)
The problem that is persisting is that I cannot make a call. I'll dial any number between my wife's, friends even my own and it just gets stuck on dialing. No operator or anything just blank. It's flashing "dialing..." but it won't actually go and do anything.
I contacted blu, and they gave me the same apns that I used and assured me that it should work on straight talk. But yet still nothing. I contacted blu again after I got the tmobile sim. I'm awaiting an answer on that before I proclaim the phone a dud and exchange with amazon.com.

StraightTalk is owned and operated by Tracfone. I went through more blood pressure pills dealing with them than almost any other corporation. Best bet? Switch to almost any other carrier. I use Airvoice, but there are a BUNCH of others out there with no contract, pay-as-you-go programs. Truly, there are better deals out there than StraightTalk/Tracfone.
You are having issues (I think) because different phones available through Straight Talk work on different networks. They ask for your zip code and then show you phones from different networks that will work in your area. If you use a SIM card you are AT&T or T-Mobile. Sprint and Verizon use CDMA. Check coverage maps. This will explain why your coverage is spotty now. There is a list floating around out there that shows which networks use what phones and so on for Straight Talk. Once you put the SIM card in the phone, it picks up whatever network is available in your area. If it's a network that doesn't have great coverage where you are, service is diminished.

Status of the OnePlus 3T - User Experiences and Information Before You Buy

I thought a thread to share user experiences and the status of the 3T could be very useful, I personally had trouble finding information about specifically voice and text over wifi, and when the Nougat update was going to come out.
Voice and Text Over WiFi and VoLTE
The short answer is go with T-Mobile if you want voice and text over wifi or VoLTE, currently AT&T doesn't support any enhanced features for prepaid accounts. I initially went to AT&T, in town it worked great but near my house and when at home I had no service at all. This is partially because I live in a very rural area, but AT&T's website showed I should have service, I didn't. At that point I was out of luck with AT&T, they don't allow microcells without an account, and you don't get a standard account with prepaid, you get a "gophone" account. This was unacceptable for me, I need at least some service at my home, at least through wifi calling/texting. So today I went to T-Mobile and ported over, as soon as I had the new sim card in I then had access to the "Enhanced Communications" under Settings -> SIM & network. Enabling airplane mode and turning on wifi I was able to confirm I could text, I have yet to confirm calling but sense would say it should work as well.
TLDR: AT&T doesn't offer "Enhanced Communications" on pre-paid accounts, this means no voice/text over wifi or VoLTE, the options won't show up in your settings menu. Post-paid accounts may work, but I didn't test one. T-Mobile offers both VoLTE and voice/text over wifi, and so far I've verified text over wifi is working, I'll post back about voice.
Delivery Time and Packaging
I purchased my OnePlus 3T on 1/5/17, and had it delivered on the 18th, so approximately 2 weeks of shipping time, considering phone ships from China this doesn't seem too bad. The shipping packaging was adequate, it came in a plastic envelope/bag packaging and then inside there was another heavy duty plastic bubble container with the phone inside, the retail packaging of the phone was 100% undamaged. Shipping carrier was DHL, a signature is required but you can opt out of this through DHL's website.
Retail Packaging
The phone comes in pretty simple retail packaging, similar to any newer phone. Included are the manuals, phone with a screen protector and a Dash charger with a 3ft usb-c cable; I really wish they included a 6ft or 10ft cable, but even on their website they only offer a 4.5ft cable, why OnePlus? Keep in mind if you are going to want a Dash charger for your car, or another wall charger for your home, buy them with your phone! Or you will be paying to ship them after the fact.
Android 7.0 Nougat
While OnePlus has made statements on availability for the Nougat update I can share my experience. I didn't initially have the Nougat software update available, but about 6-7 hours after activation with AT&T(who I initially went with) it showed up. So far I haven't had issues, but this is only day 1 for me.
