Hi guys, I just received my galaxy active. I've been reading all the forum (root related threads mostly). But I have a doubt. I'm on 4.2.2 official, btw I don't know why my phone does not detects the 4.4.2 update. I just want to know wich version is the most stable, 4.4.2 or 4.2.2? In terms of performance and battery and all those things. Because I read that you are not able to downgrade to 4.2.2 if you have update to 4.4.2.
Thank you guys in advance!

Hello guys,
I am new to the Android community and especially the Rooting section looks really strange to me (but hey, I used to have an iPhone so who am I kidding )
Anyway, I bought an Xperia Z1 and now I'd like to get Root access on my phone. But every tutorial that I found requests, that I already have Root access on a lower OS version. Why? It doesn't make sense to me.
I am currently on unrooted Android 4.4 Kitkat (14.3).
Thanks for your patience with a "newbe"
Read one of the sevral guides in the general section and the development section.
If you are new I advise you to spend some time reading otherwise you could brick your phone. It may seem like a pain, but trust me, spending some time learning will help you
for starters, android is only at 4.4.2 as the latest version, not 14.3 (That's the FW version)
Greg
You downgrade using flashtool and flash a FTF
Look in the FTF mega collection thread in the general section to learn how to do that
The reason is that it is impossible to directly root 4.4.2, you have to downgrade to a rootable version and then upgrade to a prerooted 4.4.3 version
hii guys

if you update your i9305 via ota update or kies, you will get the knox bootloader (new bootloader since 4.3) and that crap is nothing but a pain in the ass!! read about KNOX here. I dont recommend updating to official 4.3 for now with ota or kies, instead of that use a custom stock rom 4.3 from any developer on the development thread of i9305 without knox. but first ask in the thread of the rom, if you will get knox by flashing it? knox itself is removed from those custom 4.3 roms but still i dont know for sure, i have the new bootloader with knox myself unfortunately
all this time since im on knox bootl. ive had no problems actually with the knox bootloader in all that custom roms/kernels/recoveries flashing etc. but some do have and maybe you will too...(i hope not of course, if you do update to official 4.3) but you are warned!
the problem is that I haven't getting any updates till now as my mobile is from oman nd im in india.....
Try this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s3/development-i9305/rom-galaxy-s3-lte-jb-4-3-mod-t2607321
I'm also on 4.1 jb... and will try that as well...
Update to 4.3 isnt worth at all.
Well configured 4.1.2 with some useful application is much better.
I just recently updated my s3 to 4.3 and the knox app isn't installed its just a link to install it should I install it or not
Sent from my GT-I9305T using XDA Free mobile app
no don't install it

I am still on 4.1, but as far as I know, the problem is not the Knox app, but the Bootloader for 4.3, which has Knox installed. Which means that you void your warranty if you install custom roms after updating to stock 4.3. Like MaHo said, read Here
The better advice would be to flash some custom K.K. 4.4.4 rom instead. It has A LOT more improvements than 4.3.

Hello, may i ask the veteran users here which rom is rom is better to use on this phone, and it doesn't have screen issues(older firmwaares)
4.3
4.4.2
4.4.4
i am currently on 5.0.2 and i want to downgrade.
and please specify which version of the firmware( like for example 4.4.4 157)
If you want to downgrade, don't go beyond kitkat (4.4) and yes, use .157
I may ask you why?
Downgrade is quite often a bad thing.
Hello,
I actually have two Samsung SIII i9305, one is on Cyanogenmod 11 and one is in stock ROM 4.3. I read some tutorial talking about doing it with a downgrade 4.1.1. The problem is that I can't find any ROM 4.1.1 and if really I finally find it, this process is really viable even if after that I change ROM? Maybe some other solution exists?
Thank you
Hello,
I think you can not flash 4.1, when you had flashed 4.3
according to this thread is it possible to downgrade
http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s3/help-i9305/news-downgrade-android-4-3-to-4-1-2-t2644371
and a 4.1.1 rom is easy to find on samdownloads

Hi all,
Just wondering what the latest is in regards to downgrading from cog6 baseband to 4.4.4. Im having so many problems with 5.1.1 and Id love to downgrade to kitkat. I tried with Odin, but it keeps failing (using an older version though, 3.07). I am hearing mixed things about this. Can I downgrade the cog6 baseband? Need to get out of Lollipop
thanks in advance!

There's currently no way of downgrading from the latest bootloader. What kind of issues are you having? Most consider the latest update to be a substantial upgrade in performance and stability. Have you tried posting in y I ur rom's forum?
