LOST ROOT For Most but not all
Currently using [ROM][NH5][4.4.2] AllianceROM v5 – Lite on a Galaxy S5 SM G900T. After initial my initial setup was complete, I moved to the tweaker.
I started with SuperSU 2.16 and rooting was not an initial issue during the install of this ROM. Started to make adjustments in KTweaker and then found that root was denined for SetSPU. Learned that other apps that required root were also denied but KTweaker, ADB shell, IFont, and ROM Customizer were granted root.
Updated SuperSU 2.40 by flashing through recovery, TWRP 2.8.0.1 and after starting several times ended with the same results as indicated above. Tried various suggestions that I found and they did not work. Did notice that SuperSU 2.40 was working as an app but currently it is now back to 2.16.
How can I fix this and get back to FULL root access?
Update: Wipe device and reloaded the same custom ROM. Again the same thing happened after loading apps and configuring them. Now have six that are rooted correctly and then all further apps for rooting are being denied.

UPDATE History is repeating itself. Now that I am in Lollipop, that rooting problem has returned to both my Nexus 7 (2013) and Galaxy Tab S 10.5 in Lollipop ver 5.0, 5.0.2, and 5.1.1 No Runtime fix here. HELP
Here is a pic from Root Checker Pro

Hi,
I'm new to ROMs modifications so don't judge me too much.
System Setup:
Note 4 N910C
Android 5.0.1 Lollipop stock N910CXXU1BOC3
Rooted with CF-Auto-Root-trelte-treltexx-smn910c
Custom recovery CWM 6.0.5.1
In order to deodex the system, I used the guide by townsenk - http://forum.xda-developers.com/sprint-galaxy-s5/general/how-to-deodex-lollipop-rom-t3065596, which is pointing to joeldroid's tool JoelDroid Lollipop Batch Deodexer V 2.5
After deodexing everything is back to normal, except of the SuperSU. The apps that were already granted the root access are seems to be working with no trouble, but for new apps that are requesting root access, there's no pop-up to grant it.
Any ideas how to fix it?
Exact same problem. Only thing in logs is Secure Settings at boot, everything else doesn't even get that far. No popups, nothing.
EDIT: Apparently installing the latest beta fixes it, as noted by someone in the Galaxy Tab forums. Worth a try.
EDIT 2: Yep, you just need the beta and its all hunky dory again.
If I remember right from when I deodexed my Xperia m2 during the process it removes supersu from the system during deodexing and before booting up my device i needed to re flash supersu then power up to keep root
D2303 18.3.1.C.1.15 kk deodexed, rooted, philz touch recovery, xposed, z1 bravia engine 2 + x-reality+ z3 super vivid, viper audio
I don't have this problem. My device is Galany Note 4,too
Thanks megaspel! The 2.49 BETA solved the problem.
I recently upgraded my Nexus 4 to 5.1.1
Thus I wanted to re-add SuperSu. Problem is that after flashing I can't click any buttons in the SuperSu popup.
I can just allow any root request and they work but I the apps that request do not get added anymore.
So I tried to uninstall it and flash another root app.
I got one that showed the installed su binaries and it told me, even after uninstalling it, I still have SuperSu 2.45.
Whats even stranger: I flashed SuperSu 2.46? Why does it say 2.45.
It seems the binaries do not get replaced.
How do I purge the binaries for a fresh start, maybe with other binaries?
Hello everyone,
I'm having an issue - I wasn't able to flash the newest extracted firmware in the development section so I went ahead and just ran the full RUU. I've been running custom roms for years and I decided that maybe I just wanted to run stock rooted for a while so I unlocked my bootloader again, flashed the most recent TWRP and installed the most recent SuperSU zip.
Unfortunately it does not seem to have rooted my phone. SuperSU is indeed installed in the system folder and it prompts for root permission when I use root apps, but even when I grant permission the apps cannot obtain root access. What happens is it looks like they are going to get root access, the phone slows down a bit for a second, and then I get an error message from the app in question saying that either my phone isn't rooted or that root permission has been denied. If I open SuperSU, it lists all of my root apps with the green hashtag indicating that permission is granted.
Am I correct in assuming that installing SuperSU did not root my phone? If so, is there a way to root without installing a custom rom?
For clarification, this is all on the most recent RUU, software version 6.23.651..10, Lollipop 5.0.2
Thanks in advance.
Which version of SuperSU are you flashing?

Well I'm a dolt, I was using v1.69 but now I see that is a very old version. Going to try 2.46 right now, thanks.
Edit: Same issue on 2.46 :/
For anyone still looking at this thread, I was able to achieve root by flashing the newest SuperSU, version 2.52 which is actually still in beta and therefore not offered if you go to the main portion of the SuperSU website.
SuperSU v2.65 is the current stable offering

Hey,
I have Note 5 SM-N920C MM 6.0.1
Lost my root today after 4 week of that I using it (apps like "Titanium backup" and "Uninstall" doesn't work)
when you get into SuperSU I get the flowing massage
"There is no SU binary installed, and SuperSU cannot install it. This is a problem! If you just upgraded to Android 5.0 [***ANY ANDROID VERSION***] , you need to manually re-root. [OK]"
I try to install SuperSU from google play again and I run into the exact same situation as before.
Checked it with Root Checker "sorry root access is not properly installed on the device"
Tried to re-root it with Kingo root (for the 1st time) getting "Root Failed"
If you have any ideas what to do I would be happy for your ideas
(I pretty new to it, it's my 1st android device had iPhone 2/4/4s/5 before )
Happened to me today as well. Xposed claimed there is a module update (although the only module I had is lucky patcher, and that wasn't updated). After a reboot, I lost root access and custom recovery...
Happened to me since a week ago... Anyone has any fix available for this?? Please help..
I have same issue
I was trying to re-root:
Flash stock system.img (june security update)
Flash stock boot.img (june security update)
Flash supersu
Flash elementalX
No profit ☹
I’m using:
twrp-2.8.6.0-shamu
ElementalX-N6-3.16
Systemless supersu 2.74 ( on I have 2.65 same issue)

You need to root
Frist flash recovery custom example TWRP next flash file zip application su 2.74-2 in TWRP ...
This happened to me too. I followed the procedure New Root Method For 5.1.1 w/o custom kernel. It worked for 3 weeks, and then without warning root was gone. Exactly same behavior as OP.
I Flashed SuperSU again from TWRP recovery, and have root again. But I want to understand why this happened so I can prevent it. I don't get OTA updates, and automatic updates are disabled. What could "break" the systemless root without causing a request I would have to allow? I have three applications enabled for root in SuperSU Pro: Adblock Plus, EX FIle Explorer Pro, and Titanium Backup.
Hey,
I have the same pb with GN4 6.01
i fix it with super su 2.68 with twrp-3.0.2-0-trltexx.img, clean dalvik cache et cache
reboot
open su and go update binarie on google play. (update 2.76 stable)
Test du su avec ESexplorer
It 's work

I lost root as well! Im on note 5 6.0.1. I had been doing fine until I flashed the nexus launcher. The launcher flashed properly but lost root after that. Ive tried to re-root again and I cant because 1. I lost TWRP! 2. My pc wont read my phone even though I installed and unistalled the samsung drivers over and over. When I install the drivers it initially works but once I turn my phone off it wont work again! Anyone know how to fix it!?
After 4 hours of searching: it seems, that I have a special problem though it is already asked on xda-developers, but not answered.
The Problem: if an app is needs root-rights, it is endless working without any result. Supersu does not receive any request.
What you have to know:
1. I am very familiar with rooting especially with Huawei-devices and with Lollipop
2. My current problem-device: Huawei y6 II compact - version LYO-L21
3. The phone is unlocked, TWRP is installed and works.
I have installed via TWRP Supersu 2.76.zip (tried also 2.78 and 2.82), installation was ok with zip-verification. The app appears, su is in /system/xbin. Supersu works so far, but apps can not gain root.
What I also tried so far: changing the superuser app, in Supersu "cleaning for new install via Playstore" and install supersu-app from Playstore, clean unroot (and new install via TWRP), and the whole bunch with delete cache and dalvik.
If supersu does a clean unroot, the the su-binary is gone, every app requesting root tells me: "no root available".
What I read sof far: the best versions for this phone should be 2.7.6 and 2.7.9, Chainfire writing about special problems with newer Huawei-firmware, but that doesn't tell me anything - my phone is not "newer" ...
I would like to start from scratch - flash the system-partition from stock - but I did not think of any such problems, so I did no backup of the system-partition. Has anyone got one?
Where can I look for further information? Does anyone have the same problem?
