I am on the latest 4.4.4 firmware, Blur_Version.22.11.6.titan_retuaws.retuaws.en.US., and would like to download the OTA to post here. I'm rooted, and looked in my cache folder and I do not see any downloaded files.
Am i doing this correctly? I know I need to return to stock to flash (my recovery and kernel are NOT stock), but would like to post the OTA here first.
Please advise!
No need for that. It's already done.

Guys,i have Retail 1058 Moto X with unlocked Bootloader,TWRP(latest and rooted) and i want to upgrade to 4.4.2!
Some guys already received the 4.4.2 brazilian update via OTA,and extracted the zip file, but, since im on custom recovery, the OTA doesnt reboot the phone into stock and go straight to TWRP,therefore, doesnt conclude the update, and keep restarting!
Since i need the phone,i did a factory reset via TWRP just to get things going!
But,i want to upgrade to 4.4.2!
Is there a way to do that?remove TWRP ou something else?
Thx in advance!

First thing is you have posted this in the wrong thread, should be in Q&A section. You need to flash both system and stock recovery to take an ota, I believe this has been mentioned more than a few times
Sent on my Moto X
Moved here, as this does not belong in the Dev Section...thanks. OP please read the Forum Rules on posting....
I just bought a DE Moto X that's on 4.4.2. The bootloader is unlocked, phone is rooted with TWRP installed. My first question is what do i need to do to update to 4.4.4. If I'm understanding everything correctly I need to flash the stock recovery image..where do I get that??
Once I do that I will need to then reflash TWRP and root again, correct??

Yes. Here is the 442 recovery. Extract the img & Flash it with the play app: recovery tools/ Rashr-flash tool.
Once on 444 you do not want to go back.

First, which DEV Edition X do you have? GSM Or VZW? I'm going to Guess VZW, since you say you are on 4.4.2, and the latest for the GSM is 4.4.3.
If GSM, 4.4.4 OTA isn't out yet. So even if you flash back to stock, right now you wont get an update to 4.4.4, but you should get 4.4.3 which will be needed to take 4.4.4.
If Verizon, 4.4.4 OTA and FXZ is out, so you can go either way.
To take any OTA, you need to be aware of several things...
First, the most important, you can't flash an OTA from custom recovery like TWRP. You need STOCK recovery or you will bootloop. (so yes, you can fasboot flash stock recovery on your phone, immediately reboot to booloader and enter recovery to make sure its there). If you are already rooted you can use Rashr (and there is another tool that I can't remember the name of) to put stock recovery back on there.
Next, there is a pre-flash verification check the OTA performs. It makes sure you are on the correct ROM before it installs. It checks files and parts of your phone. It looks to make sure stuff is there, and matches the expected checksum or hash. If you haven't made any mods, and you have stock recovery back on there, you should be OK to take the OTA.. BUT if you've deleted, renamed, modified files or parts and they no longer match close enough to "stock" the OTA will fail to install.
XPosed gets in the way. It must be disabled (there is a zip for that), or uninstalled.
If you manually undo any modifications and take the OTA, you shouldn't have to re-root, and flashing TWRP back on is optional.
You could use mfastboot to re-flash System.img and Recovery.img from 4.4.2 onto your phone, that will usually be enough to allow you to pass the verification checks and take the OTA. But if you do this, you will have to flash TWRP and re-root after you get 4.4.4 on there.
Because many modifications could have been made, and the fact the 4.4.4 FXZ is out for Verizon, if you have a VZW Dev Edition, you can just use RSDLite (or mfasboot) to flash the Verizon 4.4.4 FXZ. Just make sure you remove the ERASE USERDATA line before flashing. This will get you directly to 4.4.4 without you having to manually, one by one, undo any mods you might have made that get in the way of the OTA Verification checks. If you do it this way, you WILL have to flash TWRP and re-root.
Thanks so much for the help!! I flashed the stock recovery image via flashify, accepted the ota and was all set. Then I flased twrp via flashify again and was back and all good!!
So glad I got the DE, this should hold me off til the x+1 drops.
Hi guys
i am on 4.4.3 in moto x and i received 4.4.4 for ota but i cant update because i unlocked bootloader and twrp in recovery,
how do i install 4.4.3,
i think install a recovery stock but i did not find recovery stock for 4.4.3 only for 4.4.2
or reinstall all stock for 4.4.2 make it downgrade.
what do you think?
You can likely find 4.4.3 firmware or even 4.4.4 and flash it manually from the links here,
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2923347
If you downgrade you could brick. If you successfully downgrade and take an OTA, you will definitely brick.
So not a wise choice. ?
Also, questions go in the Q&A section. For future reference. I'll ask this be moved. ?

This guide has sections for many tasks, including flashing firmware.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2603358
If you use the fastboot method, you could likely just flash your stock recovery once you get the proper firmware, and if you need to, mfastboot can flash the system image. Should be good for OTA then.
But again, if you find the 4.4.4 firmware for your model... Flashing it fresh manually is always my preference. ?
sorry i was think posted on Q&A,
so i install stock 4.4.3 and began wait for ota 4.4.4

If you find the proper 4.4.4 for your device, that's how I personally prefer to do it.
Be aware it'll wipe your device with RSD though. Apps, pics, music, whatever... Gone . So you can move anything you want to keep to your PC.
Using the fastboot /mfastboot method will not wipe your stuff. Pics, music and everything. As long as you don't erase or flash userdata. Apps still gone though.
Your choice. See the guide I linked for instructions.
Good luck!
And once on 4.4.4...you can not ever downgrade.
thanks, i didnt find 4.4.4 for mi device only 4.4.3 the same like i use today,
i can use rds for flash the 4.4.3 and wait for ota without any problems?
I'm pretty sure only the XT1053 aka TMobile/Developer Edition has a 4.4.3 firmware. Everyone else went from.4.4.2 straight to 4.4.4.
You can confirm by checking About and looking at firmware version it should end with Retail.en.US
If you just need the 4.4.3 recovery to flash and upgrade you can find it in the 4.4.4 OTA thread here under Reminders: http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-x/general/xt1053-4-4-4-ota-update-zip-t2885484
If you want the 4.4.4 firmware you can find it in this discussion second post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-x/moto-x-qa/help-xt1053-half-downgraded-t2934605
Yup ?
Same warning, RSD will erase everything on your phone. It will be as it was the day you bought it.
thanks
@dtg7 a screenshoot
mi device has Retail.en.US.
so if i understand, i can put directly 4.4.4 from this post??
http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-x/moto-x-qa/help-xt1053-half-downgraded-t2934605
If you are T-Mobile, yup.
---------- Post added at 12:42 PM ---------- Previous post was at 12:42 PM ----------
Not another carrier.
really not, im from mexico and use telmex but really i dont why t-mobile.
I would wait for your firmware, unless someone confirms T-Mobile will work for you. If your radio doesn't work, or anything else, you'll be stuck on T-Mobile 4.4.4 and won't be able to then flash your stock 4.4.3 anymore.
Patience. You aren't really missing out on anything. ?
@Darth thank really i want update because the ota update appear and that's annoying, but well i try with 4.4.3 flash rsd and wait for ota in stock
well if i became a 4.4.4 for root only need supersu??
i question that if its convenient upgrade o wait in 4.4.3

You're bootloader is definitely unlocked? Then yes, rooting is easy on 4.4.4.
?
wonder, thanks for everything @Darth
a moderator close that thread, my question was solved.
Hi all, it's with great delight that I managed to get Lollipop on my Moto G thanks to the amazing XDA forums
So my problem started that I couldn't install the Lollipop OTA update because I had TWRP. I found the stock 4.4.4 image for the Moto G 2014 and followed instructions to flash everything from boot.img to recovery.img. After my phone was now in "stock" I was able to install the OTA update.
Now my question is: could I have just flashed the single stock file "recovery.img" and achieved the same effect? That would remove TWRP wouldn't it? Allowing for the OTA update to just work?
(asking because I don't want to have to go through all this again in the future as I'll have forgotten!)

I just bought my son a used Moto X (2013). He's already set it up and installed his apps. When he accepted an OTA update (4.4.3 to 4.4.4) it failed and we discovered that TRWP recovery was installed. He would like to revert to a stock recovery so that he can accept Lollipop OTA when available.
I can easily install 4.4.4 with the images and instructions from Motorola but this would cause him extra work as he would have to set up the phone again.
I assume I can just flash the stock system and recovery image but Motorola only offers the images for 4.4.2 and 4.4.4 not the 4.4.3 that he has installed.
Would it be safe to install one of those? Which one? Would that preserve the apps he's already installed?
Thanks in advance.
Edit: FWIW Phone is an XT1053 Developer Edition
You would want to flash the 4.4.4 factory images. Just don't downgrade android versions or you will brick.
Travisdroidx2,
I'll flash 4.4.4 then. Do you think it would be safe to flash only the system and recovery files? I wonder if that would cause issues or possibly brick it when Lollipop OTA becomes available. If it sounds even a little risky I'll just flash all the 4.4.4 files per Motorola's guidance and let my son re-setup the phone.
Thanks for your help.

If you flash all of the 4.4.4 and don't change system files or recovery you will be on the upgrade path for the ota. The brick happens when the moto boot.img and gpt.bin images get downgraded. Then people end up with mismatched partions and brick on a ota. If you flash all of 4.4.4 and leave it as is you will be fine to take the update. Then if you want to root after just flash twrp and root. But flashing the 4.4.4 sbf will get you on the upgrade path again.
Does anyone have the factory images? I tried to download from Motorola but it says download failed everything

I just flashed the Motorola 4.4.4 image, everything appears to be fine. The only problem I encountered was that an XML file should have been included in the Motorola download with specific flashing instructions for my device. My download was missing this so I downloaded the 4.4.2 image and found the XML there. It differs slightly from the flashing instructions on the Motorola images download page.
Thanks for the help, I've attached the XML file.
