I am quite new in android device tweaking. But I have rooted my Xperia Z1 14.4.A.0.157 and installed CWM. After this went to install custom rom to my device. And it was not posible because it became Z1 Compact amami from normal size Z1 honami. How I can restore it to honami if posible without removing root and CMW ? ? ? ?

just flash the right custom rom via recovery
did you made a backup with CWM before flashing your wrong custom rom?

The problem I was facing was not the rom, but kernel, after all experiments I did trying to root it and install CWM, i had changed the kernel from honami to amami, that was the problem. But I have fixed it by simply finding right honami kernel and flashing it to device. And yes I did make a Backup

Hello. I did all the steps in DooMLoRD's post, but there is something wrong. The phone is freezing all the time and really slow. After this 1 message appears "System UI has stopped" and then it works better, but when i try to start a game... "(name of the game) has stopped". I ask other guys, but they dont have problens like that on this ROM.
Can you tell me why is that? Thanks in advance!
Did you wipe your phone before installing? Try to install the DooMLoRD's rooted kernel and do a wipe in Recovery. Then, install the ROM again.

Actually first i have installed the ROM and then kernel (is like that in the instructions)
Is it posible to have that problem if i unlocked the bootloader or root the phone wrong?

As long as your bootloader is unlocked root is not important for flashing this ROM. And if you already managed to install custom kernel (for example for aosp based rom) then you successfully unlocked your bootloader. Maybe as the previous post said, try to install DooMLoRD's kernel (The old one) then reboot recovery, wipe, flash 4.3 zip and it should work

I have installed this one: SP-4.3_leak_256-DooMLoRD_AdvStkKernel-v1 Is that the new one ?
I found this: SP-DooMKernel-v03 and SP-DooMKernel-v04
Is that the older kernels ? Because i try the kernel in the ZIP with the ROM and there is no recovery...
Guys....
Im trying to install leaked 4.3 but have issue
1.flashed .254 using flash tool
2.Rebooted
3.Flashed Advanced kernel via fastboot
4.Rebooted
but when i turn on the phone after that,it vibrates once and then there is no display.
so i flashed .254 stock kernal but that didnt fix the issue
As of now im on .254 stock ROM with bootloader locked again
Please explain me step by step process to get this done with 4.3 plzzz
Please note that my phone even though was c5302 always displayed as c5303 in PC companion but it isnt now.

Okay! Do it this way
Unlock ur Bootloader
Flash stock .254 ftf
Then root and install cwm by locked bootloader method
( by installing previous firmware kernel ftf, root by doomloard kit, install cwm of locked bootloader then flash ur latest. 254 kernel ftf)
Now just flash the 4.3 rom through Cwm without Wiping anything

Of course, cause u havent flashed the rom yet! You only flash the kernel, not the rom.
Now do it exactly as you did before, but after flashing the kernel and rebooting, tap the volume uo button continuously until you boot into cwm. And then you can flash the rom through cwm.
Dont forget to copy the zip in your ext sdcard before flashing the kernel!
Cheers.
I don't have the Take Screenshot option in the power menu. Is that normal ? Is it disabled by default or something ?

I was running 4.3 on my C5303 with locked bootloader and I didn't like it.
I restored a nandroid back up of 4.1.2 that I'd made in CWM, and rebooted. As the phone was rebooting I expected bootloop as I had forgotten to use Flashtool to flash the 4.1.2 kernel. Oops.
However, to my surprise the phone booted as normal. CWM had restored the older kernel.
My question is - if someone with a custom kernel made a nandroid backup and I restored it via CWM would this give me a custom kernel on locked bootloader?
I used to have an ARC S and JJs Hybrid rom was installed this way. A new rom was installed and user created a nandroid before completing the set up. When user like me restored the backup we got fresh new rom with root and CWM on locked bootloader.
I'm in the UK on O2 and bootloader unlock status is always NO for their phones.
The main problem I see would be the size of the backup file. But CWM can do partial backup/restores. Has this option been explored already?
This may be the only way I can ever experience KitKat Cyanogenmod.
You can't boot any custom kernel on a locked bootloader! If you try it'll brick your phone (I'm not 100% sure if it even could be a hard brick). Until now you can "only" flash 4.3 cyanogenmod/AOKP/PAC-Man on locked bootloader, which is also awesome, that this is possible.

I understand you cannot flash a non stock kernel because you can't use fastboot.
As part of the nandroid back up it creates a boot.img file.
When I restored my back up it replaced the 4.3 kernel with the 4.1.2 kernel. So it must have restored boot.img?
I wondered if there was any way to restore someone else's non-stock kernel via cwm nandroid boot.img.

Yes, it makes a backup of almost everything so also from the kernel.
I understand what you want but the custom kernels arent boot.img but kernel.elf and these ones have a different ramdisk (is it called ramdisk?!) and a different ramdisk requires you to unlock your bootloader so it would definitely brick your device if it is not the stock 4.3 kernel

That is disappointing, I had hoped that as it worked on ARC S it might have worked on SP.
Obviously it isn't something I can test myself. I had hoped that no matter what the kernel CWM would have been able to restore it from a backup.
I must read more about the ramdisk.

The problem I think is that your bootloader isn't unlockable. If it worked on Arc S this is because the nandroid backup also backed up the bootloader status (I thinkso). So since your bootloader isn't unlockable, you won't have the chance to do so :/
Actually CWM could restore it from the backup but it would be the same, as if you would flash a custom kernel on a locked bootloader manually, which always should (hard)brick the device.
My Arc S had a locked bootloader too. Someone accidentally posted a nandroid backup with doomlord kernel instead of stock and I had doomlord kernel on locked bootloader.

No, since this is not possible (yet) the recovery must have backed up the bootloader status (unlocked) since the one who made the nandroid backup had an unlocked bootloader, so with restoring the backup it basically unlocked your bootloader, respectively your own one got overwritten.
But since your bootloader is not unlockable, it won't restore the bootloader status because it is in no way possible to unlock your phone's bootloader!
I hope you understood what I mean?

Ok, I think I've got it now
When I later restored a different nandroid on the ARC that's when my BL went back to being locked.
I guess that Sony must handle the TA or something differently now which prevents this from working with XSP.
Ok, it was worth asking I guess. I'd hoped with sources being released for our model and some hack like this I could have maybe gotten to try KitKat on locked BL.
It really puts me off buying Sony again, HTC don't lock their phones down anywhere near as tightly. You can get fastboot and change out the kernel for root really quickly. I even installed a rom on the the Desire which had the Sony UI that I love.

I couldn't figure out if you have a nandroid backup. Do you have one? The nandroid backup also contains the kernel, so if you restore a nandroid backup, kernel of when you made the backup gets also restored.
If you only want to restore the kernel with a nandroid backup you go into recovery → backup and restore → restore partial backup (or however it is called) and select boot.img

The thing is I have Sony Xperia SP with AOKP (4.3.1). Can't you flash a stock based ROM or a stock ROM just slightly modified (deodexed, pre-rooted or such things)?
Furthermore Xperia SP never had ICS. It came out with JB 4.1.2

I'm not 100% if that's possible. Maybe if you download a ROM with a kernel and delete the ROM out of the .zip (don't try that, it is just an idea!). If I were you I would download and flash another ROM (stock-based) that has an in-built kernel via recovery.

Assuming you have an Xperia Z, then your problem is the fact that you installed a Z Ultra recovery. ZU-lockeddualrecovery2.7.121-BETA.installer
If the correct installer doesn't work, then you will probably have to flash a stock rom with Flashtool to restore your system and start again from scratch, as you can't safely flash anything with a custom recovery built for a different device.
