HI,
I recently got a Moto x (unlocked and system version 139.4.5ghost_row_LRA.en.us) from ebay. The original carrier was bluegrass cellular and now am using lycamobile sim card on it. It currently has andriod 4.2 on it. I like to upgrade that to 4.4 for couple of reasons. But later i figured out that there is no upgrade available for this system version.
is there any other way i can get kitkat on my device? By rooting or etc???
I read many ways to do this in internet and confused. Am not sure if this system version does matter while rooting or not. Can some one please help me out here and give me step by step instruction to get kitkat?
Hi,
I can see there are 2 US retail firmwares on http://sbf.droid-developers.org/phone.php?device=36
Which one should i use to restore a Consumer Cellular version to standard US Retail, also if you point me the steps guide using adb that would be great.
Also, would i need to unlock bootloader before flashing the retail version?
Thanks.
Any way to flash lollipop update to consumer cellular branded Moto g 2014?
Please check this link, i finally managed to downgrade to US Retail from Consumer Cellular version and flash lollipop via adb recovery!
Hello All.
I recently picked up a Comsumer Cellular Moto G 2014 Model XT1064. I am currently trying to allow it to receive OTA updates or at the very least upgrade it to lollipop. I've followed this guide [here] and I have unlocked the bootloader, however I am having trouble getting my hands on proper links. I managed to 'downgrade' to 21.11.13.titan_retuaws.retuaws.en.US cc however I cannot flash any other roms. I tried flashing an XT1068 5.2 rom using fastboot however with the dual sim ROM, I got no service from my sim card.
Information and links seem to be scarce for this model so any finger in the right direction would be appreciated.
Thanks!
You can forget OTA since Consumer Cellular will not push out OTA's. I personally am going to hold at 5.01 since Motorola is close to pushing out 5.1 which is supposed to fix a few things. I flashed my CC Moto with TWRP straight to 5.01 from 4.4.4 with the Titan Rom located in the General forum.

A couple of months ago, I bought this smartphone unlocked from Amazon USA (I'm from Argentina). After getting it, I updated it up to 4.4.4. Now, I'm on 5.1 after following this guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-x/general/how-to-install-5-1-lollipop-moto-x-t3089594
Now I want to comeback to the stock rom so I can get the official 5.1 update but I'm not sure what rom should I get. How can I know that?

Normally I would suggest BEFORE you flash away from Stock, on the phone you first go App Drawer -> Settings -> About Phone... Make note of what is listed under System Version, Android Version, and build number. Then visit one (or all) of the sites until that host the leaked SBF files until you find the SBF that matches and down load the file to your PC for use later.. The file name will usually contain parts or all of that info listed under settings, and possibly the carrier name, or acronym for the carrier name (Verizon might be VZW, Rogers Canada might be RCI, etc).
But seeing as you are no longer using your stock ROM, you need to provide us with some details...
1. Who is your carrier?
2. Was the phone you purchased from Amazon branded for your carrier, or was it "Unlocked"?
3. Is there any model info imprinted into the lower portion of the back case (in very fine print)?

1 & 2. My carrier is Claro Argentina but I bought the phone unlocked in Amazon, no branded.
3. It says XT1050. I guess that's the model. I tried to find a 4.4.4 room for that model but nothing.
Thanks for the answer.

Can you boot the phone to bootloader mode and tell me what you see on the 2nd line?
And I've only seen 4.4.2 leaks for XT1050, and also they were for regional carriers in the USA, so possibly not what you need.

Ok, thanks.
The 2nd line says: 30.B7 (sha-bae5e20, 2014-06-23 18:24:49)

30.B7 is the bootloader for a 4.4.4 ROM.
So you don't want to flash a 4.4.2 rom on there.
At this point, unless you can find a Stock Moto 4.4.4 XT1050 SBF, I would just sit with your phone as is.
I mean, you could try finding any XT1050 4.4.4 SBF and flashing it, but I've only seen one SBF for XT1050, and it was 4.4.2. So you'd risk bricking if you flash it, or if you take an OTA after you flashed it (since gpt/motoboot on your phone will be the wrong version). And even then, I'm not sure if it has any "carrier specific" settings in it.
Maybe You'll get lucky if 5.1 SBF's start leaking, and we'll see an XT1050 SBF.

Ok, thanks for the help. I think it will be better to go for a custom rom like CM.
As the title states, I'm stuck on jelly bean. I bought this moto X from ebay to be used in my country (Dominica) the model in question is a Moto X XT1053 unlocked for outside gsm carriers. When I try to update through About phone-->System updates i get this message "Check for update was not available at this time" "Try again later". I tried flashing a kitkat 4.4.2 ota from the stock recovery but i got an error during the unpacking of the zip file. I seem to have a very wierd System verion (139.7.20.ghost_tmo.T-Mobile.en.US). I searched everywhere and i can't seem to find anyone with this system verison, i believe this might be the reason why I can't seem to update my OS. Hope you guy could help me out here please.
I have the same issue. My brother bought a Moto X off of Swappa and has the weird system version 139.7.20.ghost_tmo.T-Mobile.en.US. How can I update this to 4.4.4?
