I successfully transferred the original SD card's content into my 64Gb Sandisk FAT32 using the instructions on https://support.oculus.com/hc/en-us/articles/204363723-Using-Your-Own-microSD-with-the-Samsung-Gear-VR-Innovator-Edition but now all of the video footages that's found within the Oculus folder shows up on my Gallery.
Is there a way to prevent the videos from showing up in my Gallery without interfering with the Gear VR from accessing those files? It's not a big deal but there's 7 folders clustering my Gallery which gets in the way of utilizing my other folders.
Thanks in advance :good:

Try add a .nomedia txt file to the folders
I tried adding it to the Oculus folder and restarted but my gallery still showed the files :\
It needs to be on each folder separate and check if oculus software will still see those folders.

tried it for each individual folder but still no go
not sure what the difference is between the original SD card and my sandisk 64gb ..

Try hide it pro from the market
try create a folder starting with a dot, like: .photos.
and put the pictures there...
In the folder where you want to store and hide photos create a file called .nomedia then move the photos into the folder.
If you add the .nomedia file to an existing folder you may need to wipe Gallery data before it takes effect. Works on Sammy and HTC, haven't tried it myself on Sony.
OR, if rooted, get LUKS Manager from the market. Works like Windows Truecrypt.

I think media storage is more important. You also better reboot your phone.

Or you can download quickpic app to hid the folders for you..
it actually only create .nomedia file for you..
Install 'hide it pro' app downloading via Google play store, its free and after installation it will be renamed as audio manager, and tapping at 'audio manger' you will be able to install your password and you can view your hidden photos, videos. You can encrypt your data also.
And if you have root acess, you can hide your app downloading its plugin, located at advanced settings. Then you can launch your app calling @ ##yourpassword .

To hide your porn, clear data in media storage and album apps after renaming the .folder.

I tried Hide It Pro but prefer LUKS. Hide It just seems to change the name of your file and copy it to an obscure location, but you can still find it with a file explorer. I didn't try the encryption but it looked to me like it would only encrypt individual file(s)?
With LUKS, you create a password-protected encrypted volume (can take a while) and then you mount it. Once the volume is mounted it looks like a regular folder. You can create whatever folders you want and just cut/paste any filetype into it. Encryption is on the fly so you don't need to encrypt/decrypt files. In any file explorer, browse to a file in the volume, double-click and the file opens....pictures, music, videos, spreadsheets, text files etc, all open transparently out of the mounted volume. When you dismount the volume you cannot see inside it.
Tried changing a name of an existing folder to .saved and the folder disappear completely ?? any reason why this happened?
And tried creating a new one with .pvt ,sadly this not work, ast the folder created cant be seen?anyone experienced this problem before?
Just to clear the matter, lady friend sent me a bikini photo, not porn or any sort but since the album shows all on the Z, had a lot people want to check my phone out scanning through my photos etc which made me wonder if there is an app to ensure privacy.
Hide It Pro works well Thanks guys!! :good:
Hi,
Is there no my file app on the Z1? I can not find it.
Other questions - how do you make the Walkman app look for music in your sd card?

Mine came installed with file commander, but you can easily download 3rd party ones such as ES file explore from pay store.
As for the Walkman app, mine scanned my SD card fine, there doesn't appear to be a manual scan mode, so I'd suggest u un mount your sd card in store and re mount it see if that helps.

media scan
Or try rescan media from the play store free app (works for me)

Wait a bit, turn it off and on again and it will scan the content of your internal and external sd card automatically. But it may take some time.
As for file explorers, there are hundreds of them on the market
Thanks. I normally use astro for file handling, I was Just wondering if there wasn't any default. I tried rescan and turn off and on phone with no luck. If I pick a mp3 via astro it opens and play in Walkman, but walking only shows the preinstalled songs..

OK, someone already mentioned that file commander comes with the rom.
Just give the media scanner some time. It is a process that takes some time. Leave your phone with screen off for a bit and it should find it.
Also, make sure there is no .nomedia file where you have the media stored. I also keep mine in a folder called music on my external sd card.
Nothing seems to work with make the files show up in the play (Walkman) So I will try format the card and see if that helps. Btw I didn't have the file commander installed default.

Do you have a network locked handset, as mine is unlocked and unbranded so that could be why you don't have the app.
As for your music not being recognised by the Walkman app sounds pretty strange... before formatting the sd card you should try clearing the cache from the Walkman app, as to me it sounds like a software glitch.

hopefully you've sorted this now!
also if you just want your music files in the walkman app, just click on settings (top right) and then open settings and disable 'music unlimited' under service settings. Now the walkman app will only show your downloaded music and none of their streaming stuff
My handset is unbranded and unlocked. I formatted the scarf,

Hi there,
I am new to this forum and this is my first time posting! I have the ATT samsung galaxy S5 and I am rooted but running the stock ROM. I am relatively new to android and this is my first one after three years of having iphones. Anyway, I just got a 32gb microSD card but I am having some problems making it work with the camera. Before I put the SD card in, I had several folders in my camera, such as videos, camera, screenshots, snapchat, transferred from my iphone, etc... When I transferred from my iphone, a lot of the pictures were out of order but I learned to deal with it. When I put my SD card in, all of the folders mushed together with all my videos on the top and everything out of order. Now I just have one folder called externalSDcard and one called "camera" where new pictures are stored and one called picassa. Im not even sure if they are folders or albums! How do I restore everything to how it was before but keep it all on the SD card?
HELP!
Nothing? Really?
Really the only thing you can do I believe is put the pics on your computer and then format your SD card then put them back on in their appropriate folder. Pics go in the pictures folder and mpegs go in movies folder. Hope you figure it out.

Android will scan your phone for media files and will show all in the gallery. Now in the gallery you can create albums then drag and drop pictuers or videos into them. Also the camera folder must reside in the DCIM folder.

Exactly, the file structure on your SD card hasn't changed, but gallery app is organizing them the way it wants. What's even better is if you are storing camera pictures on SD card after having stored some on internal memory, now you have two "Camera" items shown in your gallery.
Picasa, by the way, is any pictures you've stored in picasaweb (which may be "none").
You might find a different picture viewing app more to your liking. I've always liked quickpic and now it supports viewing picasa pics as well, which was one of the only reasons to use the stock Gallery. And it's free.
The only remaining reason I have to use the stock Gallery is for those "shot & more" pictures I still want to edit (but that comes with a big bug of its own).
Thanks
Thanks so much for your help! I think I am getting things sorted out. For some reason though when I move the picture around or make any kind of changes, it changes the date from the day it was taken to when I last changed the location. I think that is why all the videos are on the top. Is there anyway to change that back? Also Im not a big fan of the gallery app so I think I'll try quickpick! Ill let you know how it goes!
Just got my Nexus 6 yesterday.
Got it all set up. I usually keep all my music on a micro SD card.
So I was trying to figure out where to pull it but cant seem to find a music folder. I have google searched this and havent come up with anything.
Thanks in advance.
I use explorer by speed software from the play store.... shows you root and storage.. Music folder should be under storage

There are many folders in the storage folder, but all are appear to be empty, and none are labled music.
Can I create a new folder named music and drop the mp3's in it?

That's exactly what you do. It doesn't matter what folder it's under. As long as it's on your phone it'll find the files.

Is there a way to exclude folders/files from Oculus Cinema under My Videos? Basically I just want to see the movies I've put under the /externalSD/Oculus/Movies folder but it seems to scan the whole drive including lots of video clips shot with my phone in the /externalSD/DCIM folder.
thanks!
I tried " .nomedia" file method and it worked. Side effect is that other players won't see those folders too.
Sent from my SM-N910T using XDA Free mobile app
yea that sort of works, but it has the drawback as you've mentioned. It also doesn't work for the subfolders under DCIM(i have a lot) if I just put a single ".nomedia" in it. it has be in every single folder that I want to exclude, kind of a hassle...
I know this is an old posting. However, when I updated to Android 7.0 on my S7Edge, nothing seems to exclude folders from being opened by Gear VR. I have tried:
.nomedia
.foldername
Any suggestions as I did a search on this forum and only found this tread.
Thanks!
