Has anyone tried using a USB micro to transfer files I bought a 64gb dual usb SanDisk drive for my phone that I can carry with me but I can't get it to work. It shows that it's there in storage and highlights the mount usb drive but does nothing when clicked. If anyone has used something like this please share what you are using so I can transfer my files so I can work off that OTG Storage thanks.
what file browser are you using?

use ES File manager
u can transfer all files u want from phone to usb storage o viceversa
Thanks
I got it to work had to change the flash drives exfat format to an 32fat, once I did that it worked.
I have this same problem with my 64gb Sandisc micro usb.
It highlights the mount in storage settings but does nothing.
Can you specify how you formatted the 64gb drive to 32 gb? As far as I know fat32 does not recognize any size larger than 32gb?
As far as the file managers being used they should be obsolete because if you cannot even mount the drive nothing will recognize it.
I bought 2 flash drives and have 4 Turbos with all having the same results. If anyone knows how to fix this problem please let me know.
Thanks,

Try browsing to /storage/usbdisk in Explorer free.
64 GB (fat32) should work, works fine on old Maxx.

He wasn't talking about formatting from 64GB to 32GB (storage space), it's the FILE SYSTEM (NTFS, FAT32, EXFAT) he changed.

Did you format the card on/in the phone? Don't format it on you pc
Are you properly ejecting/unmounting/removing the device from your computer? I've had similar issues with my digital camera when I forget to eject he card from my Linux computer. I think the files don't get closed properly. May not have anything to do with your problem...

Hi, I have had the problem with class10 sdhc card. it randomly lost data (or whole sd card unmounted when locked screen). I use class 4 instead. However, lost data appeared (a week ago) too - and it was (perhaps) because I didn't "eject" before unplugging... but usually I don't do it, and everything was ok.

Hello guys!
I have 16GB micro SD card and I can't put a movie larger than 4 GB.
my card is formatted as fat32, but I've managed to install paragon+ and mount ntfs card but I still can't copy file larger than 4GB.
Or to be more precise, I can save file via PC on SD card, but all applications don't recognize file.
I have tried with both 4.1.1 and 4.1.2
Does anyone know how to solve this?
paragon didn't mount exfat.

It's an android limitation. Android has not NTFS support out of the box. I was sure it supported exFAT (our big brother does AFAIK) but after formatting my 16 GB class 10 SDcard my phone didn't recognize it anymore So, FAT32 and no 4GB+ files
However there's a good chance CyanogenMod supports these file systems (at least exFAT) out of the box

Get a live USB stick for any Linux distro and try saving it that way.
AW: [Q] micro SD card exfat
It should be possible to reformat the card as ext2/3/4. Android would support it natively. The only issue would be for Windows users to install a kind of driver to use it.

I've solved it.
I've formatted 16 GB SD drive half as fat32 and half as ext4, and then i've made a script to mount ext4 to /mnt/storage3 folder.
Now I can dowbload torrents larger than 4GB.
@oskreso, can you share the script?
Droid bionic has a max 32 gb external sdcard limitation. is this a hardware or software limitation?
thinking if it was software, could I create 2 partitions on 64gb card and mount extra partition in vold.fstab as usb1 or sdcard-ext2 or something?
thanks.

I do not know if this helps or not but my Samsung Precedent is supposed to have a 16gb SDcard limitation but I have a 32gb card in it and it reads it as such. AlI I can say is stick the card in and see what happens. Once I get my Bionic up and running I plan on moving the card to from phone to phone. Good Luck and hope it works.
I've been using a 64 GB card (SanDisk Extreme SDXC) with no problems.

Is the OS JellyBean?
is the card formatted exfat or fat32?
Is it class 6 or class 10?
thanks.
Note: reason I'm asking is I have been reading problems with class 10 micros SD drawing too much power and exfat not being recognized with usb thumb drives and I wasn't sure if that carried over to the Micro sd card(for those with a y cable, an OTG cable, and powered hub)
Software problem only, reformat the card as fat32, your phone will ask to do this, and it will work fine.
Been using my sandisk 64gb card for a year without issue in my Droid 3 and now on my Bionic.

I broke down and bought a sandisk 64gb micro sdxc
picked up a sandisk 64gb sdxc class 10 from best buy for $35 yesterday.\
It would not read in my bionic because it is formatted exfat file system. Android no like. ext2 or fat32 is preferred if your a windows user def fat32.. problem with formatting anything that large using windows is you need utils found here.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1773735
that diddn't work for me so I used easeus partition manager to delete partition on card and create a primary (not extended) partition that was unformatted. I then used the fat32format.exe from the link above to format the card all of which was done in windows xp
working now.
I'm sure there are some things here that are not neccessary but this is what worked for me after a few failed attempts.
do not copy files form your old card until you put a couple files on the new card and test it. you will just end up wasting your time when it doesn't work and you have to reformat it again or repartition it again and copy..... again. I copied 29g to the card like 3 times. lol.
my entire music collection will be with me at all times now!
64gb MicroSDXC is 30$ on Amazon (US).
I got one and it is working flawlessly in my bionic. I was running CM11 at the time, but have jumped a couple of ROMs since then.
I copied all files off of my old card to PC (using the card slot), formatted the new card IN MY PHONE, then copied the files on to the new cardPure success. No errors or anything.
Just my experience though! Bionic isn't supposed to handle 64gb cards, but mine did just fine.
64 megabyte SD card
I also purchased a 64 megabyte SD for my bionic and it works great.

It might be a compatibility issue with the Kingston pendrive.
Previously saw a forum posting saying Android OTG is more compatible with FAT32 pendrive.
First time hearing FAT32 + NTFS option.
1) You can try to use Windows to format the Kingston pendrive to FAT32 format.
2) Or use App SanDisk Memory Zone to format the Kingston pendrive.

Hi All,
I've tried to connect my 298GB exfat HD to T715 using USB OTG connector, the ES Explorer could detect that there was an additional storage been attached, but i couldn't see any file in the harddisk. What seems to be the problem here? Is it the capacity of hd that is too high or the filesystem that can't be read by the OS? My microsd card is formatted using exfat and it still can be read.
Do i need to be rooted and flash additional files? Should i be using FAT32 instead of exfat?
Thanks

try to format a < 64gb usb stick with exfat, so you can figure out if the problem is the filesystem or the capacity of your hd.
it its the fs fat32 should work if you dont want to use ext4.
cm should also handle ntfs partitions.
You can format the drive to fat32 using a windows program such as easeus partition manager (there's a free version or trial). (Windows itself limits fat32 formatting to 32gig so you need a 3rd party app like easeus)
Just remember fat32 can't support files bigger than 4 gig - so no big mkv movies for example
