Finally upgraded my nokia n900 to a droid 4 and started playing with android.
Droid 4 is great, except all the verizon bloatware. That's the only real reason I've been looking at other roms. I've had a good go, but now back on the stock rom.
Is there a method of removing the bloatware, and a list of which ones remove from the stock rom?
I'd like to get another rom on the go. My issue is the wipe function in safestrap didn't seem to do a full wipe. When I go to install a new rom, it seems to show some of the data is already used. Is there a way to wipe literally everything on the phone? I tried installing cm11 to the stock rom and it loaded the droid 4 background and cm11 shortcuts for example.
Cheers

Cheers, read a good few of those already, but missed that thread with them all organised.
I take it we won't be getting any updates on this phone any time soon? So can I uninstall all the things on that list? I had a look and some didn't have an uninstall button, is there another method?
Hoe do you do a full format? Safe strap doesn't seem to do this.

Yes, you can disable (if that is an option), remove or rename (rename is safer, like adding .bak) using a root browser/explorer/manager, safest use Titanium backup pro to freeze the app or backup and delete (not as safe).
also can leave stock rom, and install a deboated stock rom like the ones posted under Jellybean Roms in my Index

what do you consider full format?
You can reflash firmware with RSD Lite or Droid 4 utility
You can you can wipe system, user data, sd cards in safestrap.
Safestrap doesn't seem to format completely, I get an error on the sdcard, not external, and there are usually files left over. IE after a full format, it says 968mb free of 999, numbers are just an example.
RSD lite only seemed to install the stock rom and wouldn't install any others?
Cheers for the help.

Correct, RSD lite is only for Official Motorola Firmware
Possibly a silly question, but if its a 16gb phone, why does it come up as 8gb when plugged into a computer?
So if I format on the PC, will it still boot into safe strap on restart or will I need to rsd lite it?
I'm trying to have safestrap, a stock rom for the rare times I'll use the dock, and a light rom for daily use. Unless there is a better way around it?
CM11 seems the happiest, is there a summary for the roms? Or any other suggestions?
Cheers
Also, is there any way of just installing the play store and google maps without all the other crap?

16gb is all partitions , before formating, and installing system, and bloatware files

safestrap stores roms on internal sd card, so if you format internal sd card, all rom slots will be wiped. but safestrap it self is not on the sd card it is installed elsewhere.

SlimKat is good, but there are too many variables, to suggest what will be best for you.
read the comments in the rom threads, and try a couple of roms.

Yes, see PA GApps: PICO MODULAR PACKAGE and [GAPPS][2014-12-15] Google Apps Minimal Edition for Android 4.4.x
You need to install a Gapps file that is compatible with the Roms android version, or there maybe problems.
---------- Post added at 04:39 PM ---------- Previous post was at 04:25 PM ----------
also Roms that do not include playstore, also do not include the support files for play store, like google framework....
I usually suggest installing one of the PA GApp versions like Mini or Micro.

Hi Mentor. This is probably a stupid question, sorry, as I've only had my Droid 4 a few days...
I've tried CM11, but the battery life is not good enough, so I'm going to have to use some kind of modified stock ROM.
What is the main difference between using the above, and installing your ROM? And which would likely give the best battery life?
Thanks

In my stock rom there are some gapps that i left inside because a lot of user use them but personally i do not use any gapps and for this i create this patch that will completely delete every gapps in the rom.
This patch can be installed from who uses original stock rom or my stok rom.

Many times developers don't specifically state that you must wipe data, but the fact that not doing so generally gives rise to so many errors, that I'm surprised people still "dirty flash" and complain about errors.
On the other hand, if clearing data for the play store/google framework/etc. didn't work as @matt4321 suggested, and you are still can't access the play store after flashing an FTF (and having wiped /data, obviously), then it's most likely a problem with the GAPPS that come with your FTF/ROM that you flashed (unlikely), or a problem with your internet connection.
If you have any .apk file you wish to install, and you have ADB installed on your computer, just enable USB debugging in developer settings, connect USB cable, connect to your phone through ADB (adb -d shell) and type:
Code:
cd /storage/sdcard0 (or sdcard1, or wherever your .apk file is located)
pm install name-of-your-apk.apk
Something which can also be done with a terminal emulator, which I doubt you have since you don't have access to the Play Store.
Unbelievable
i did all those things, lost all the data, everything i did with that phone so far and now i solved it by simply setting time manually and forgetting and reconnecting to my wifi, i want to sincerely thank you all for you help, namely matt4321, for keeping my hopes up, i'll try towelroot again

Hi Guys!
So I got my hands on an HTC One Mini 2 Demo Unit. Don't ask me how or why. (NOT STOLEN!)
I have tried to get rid of the Demo mode app but without success.
This is what I have done:
Unlocked the bootloader
Flashed TWRP
This is what I have tried to do to get rid of the demo mode:
Wiping and factory reset from TWRP. About 1 minute after the phone has booted it autoinstalls the Demo Mode again. Before it does all functions is available etc, after the demo mode is installed some options and functions is disabled.
Rooted, Installed Xposed and module BootManager to stop Demo Mode from booting, no success the demo app still starts upon boot
Tried to uninstall the app with various root uninstallers, they just fail.
Tried wiping ALL partitions etc from TWRP and restored an original HTC One Mini 2 system dump from another thread, same thing. After about one minute the Demo application autoinstalls itself and some functions is diabled and the annoying demo mode starts now and then, and blinkfeed is full of sh*t, demo contacts etc.
After I reboot all settings etc is restored to it's original state.
Any ideas how I can force the phone not to install the demo mode after reset?
Thanks!
Update: Flashing the Cyanogenmod firmware from another thread does not install the demo mode and the phone works as it should. I can call etc. But I only have 3G not 4G, don't know if it has to do with the sim or not (borrowed a nano-sim from a collegues iPhone 5s).
But anyhow I would like to have the HTC firmware instead, any ideas?
Maybe someone has another system dump/ruu/firmware or any of the sort I can try. Perhaps the firmware I tried in the other thread also was a demo-firmware (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=55107684&postcount=6)

As stated in the OP I have already unlocked the bootloader and flashed a custom recovery. CyanogenMod works but very buggy build, and either way I would like to have the original ROM or something close to it (Sense). Unfortunately there are no custom roms for this phone yet (other then CM). I have only found one original TWRP dump that I tried but the demo mode installed itself on that dump as well. I don't know why it installed itself on the original rom from this forum... Thanks

My understanding is that this is an app so if it's not in the ROM then it cannot run.
There are a few other custom ROM but if you want stock follow this by the letter.

I was going to do same thing, but how do you repack ? I mean I packed it with WinRAR, or 7Zip, but they compress the file, or maybe they don't pack it as TWRP format, so TWRP didn't recognise my file. Simply, how do you pack it ?

Open the zip file that you want to flash with any zip manager you like, you don't need to extract the files, just navigate to the folder and delete the .demo folder and it will automatically repack it. Close it and copy it to your phone and flash normally. It will work.

You have to flash the stock recovery back and make sure all the bloatware that came with the rom is installed and not frozen.
The best way to go about this would be probably to flash sbdag's stock rooted rom, then flash the stock recovery from Droidbasement, then manually flash the firmware which you get from Asus downloads.
Not worth the trouble IMHO....

Download the firmware from Asus, unzip it once and copy that file to the root of your internal SD. You may have to reboot for the system to find it, but with stock recovery installed it should give you a notification.
That's how I remember it, but there was a lot of trouble for users trying to flash back to stock with the 4.2/4.3 update - don't quite remember, but I think those got solved when Droidbasement provided the flashable stock recovery.

I didn't see it in droid basement anymore as of yesterday. This last update is not just a file (ZIP) in a zip update it's the whole Rom.

He had the 4.2 posted and I think I still have it on a sdcard somewhere. But the manual update is all I need to do. Have you looked at the new update?

What I've seen so far is mainly complaints about worse battery drain than on 4.3 [emoji12]
Even the version number indicates it's a minor one... Better keep a nandroid [emoji41] [emoji2]

Original problem ... solved.
My original post of the system update not "taking", has been solved.
I got the update from the Asus site, and manually updated my tablet. Thankfully, the little Android guy did not die this time.
Hi
I have ATT galaxy note 3 first time I installed a rom I did it over the stock rom slot, no biggie, to make a long story short last rom I had was alliance last version, didn’t work for me, so I decided to install (FireNoteDeodexV20XGrandFinale)
So I booted into Safestrap 3.75(TWRP v2.7.1.0) by simply restarting my device and got that recovery or continue buttons.
So I did a factory wipe but I also did an advance wipe and checked (system).
After that I went to install and selected the above ROM zip and installed it and after I hit continue at the safestrap screen where it also says disabled it always has. It stays blank.
So I booted up to SS again and now whenever I select factory wipe or system wipe or try to mount I get the same message E:Unable to mount ‘/system’ and E:Unable to mount ‘/systemorig’
And now im stuck with no phone and cant install any ROM
Theres a lot of threads about this but please oh please masters bare with me I just need step by step, what should I do and what files do I need to download.
Your help is highly appreciated.
Are you on Jellybean or Kitkat..this should be in Q&A section. But we will try to get you going

If you have a computer. And a sdcard slot on it download and install a kitkat rom of your choice from the att note 3 rom section. Because you most likely are on the newest bootloader you can't flash jb roms. You have to stick to kitkat roms.
done
i just downloaded UrDroid_ATT_Stock_KitKat_N900AATTCNC2_Rooted_Odexed_Ver_2.zip

Didnt work tried and it failed.
You should look in the general section for att note 3 and find the Odin files for kitkat and Odin restore your phone. Then start over rooting and installing a custom rom. Probably your best bet.
