Hi XDA,
I've had this problem for a while now and I can't figure out anyway to fix it. I'm running 5.0 and anytime someone calls me, the phone vibrates and I have to unlock my phone with my pattern before I see the dialer screen to answer the call. Anyone else have this problem or know of a fix? My phone is encrypted, could that be it? Everything else in terms of notifications comes through fine. Maybe I disabled one too many apps?
Probably encryption, but how many apps have you disabled, and which ones?
---------- Post added at 01:14 AM ---------- Previous post was at 01:14 AM ----------
Also, administrative apps might do this

I don't have very many apps installed actually. Disabled apps include mostly Google Play stuff and Verizon Bloatware:
Aduio Effects
BrowserMessage
Caller Name ID
Cloud
Google Play Books, Magazines, Plus, Translate, Music, Games, Videos
Connect
Google Hindi, Korean, Pinyin Input
Hangouts
Message+
Mobile Hotspot
Moto Voice
Motorola Spotlight Player
NFL Mobile
Sheets
Slides
Softcard
VZ Navigator
I'm leaning towards the encryption being the cause.
I have a uk version no network lock, no root, running lollipop, and non encrypted, had this issue few days back and a restart resolved the issue, seems it is some issue with the lollipop notification on top part of the screen thing

Oh duh, the tried and true restart method. Haven't ever had to restart this phone for anything before so I didn't even think about that. Thanks, I'll try that and see if that works for me too.
Hi,
I've had the same problem when I updated my moto to Lollipop, a simple wipe cache partition in the recovery solved it (no root needed) without loosing anything.
No encryption tho, but you'd give it a try.

This works for Android 5.0:
Power off Moto X.
Wait a few seconds
Press the power and volume down buttons at the same time for 5 seconds, release the buttons.
The boot menu screen will be displayed
Scroll down using the Volume down button to “recovery”
Select by pressing volume up.
An Android logo will be displayed
Press and hold power button for five seconds and then volume up once while holding power
In recovery the selection is made with the power button
Versions prior to 5.0 have a slightly different procedure.

This may sound a little noob-ish but I am new to device and my condition is a bit bad.
My G1 is running Android 2.2 Froyo, it has a keyboard with E,R and 6,7 keys not working. And I cannot get past google verification. I can't run wifi and to write the apn settings, I require the keys.
The ****ty system doesn't even show on-screen keyboard in the auth.
So what can I do apart from dumping the G1? Is there some way to enable on-screen keyboard?
EDIT -> I now know that the device is rooted and has Amon_Ra but I can't seem to do anything. Any help?
Re: [Q] [HELP] Bypassing Google authentication
If you are running 2.2froyo then you must be rooted as the dream can not be updated past 1.6 donut without root.
But if your only issue is those couple keys to bypass why not just make a new gmail that doesn't use those keys, new accounts are free you know, how about [email protected]

Well, the problem is not with the Gmail account, the problem is setting up the GPRS connection. You know, the APN settings. If only would it let me use WiFi from default.
And I can't even use it on adb I guess (to enable it I need to type in a code).
I did see something like "WiFi patch" on CaNNoN202's ROM thread, but the links were dead.
Still looking for help

If it is rooted and has amonra recovery installed then boot to recovery and flash a compatible ROM, nearly all custom ROMs have the ability to let you bypass sign in and go straight to os
If you want help choosing a ROM that is compatible you need to tell me what radio and SPL you have
If you really just want to use adb to bypass I can help with that too but it is unneeded if the phone is rooted

Well, I do not know the radio and SPL (the person I bought it from had it all done). Would anything happen if I install the latest SPL and Radio? And they already be on the device? (which is rare)
EDIT: I looked another thread and found that pressing Camera + Power should show me a screen which tells me the radio and other things. Tried it and it showed me a RGB-color screen. Radio was 1.22 something and the Hboot was 0.95 something.
And by the way, on the same thread I found that, if we boot into recovery and it shows a triangle and "!", it means the phone is unrooted. Well, unfortunately that is the case with me

Thanks for this. I did get most of my questions about the device solved from this thread. But the By-pass method won't work for me as I can't enable the device in adb. W,E,R keys are not working on my keyboard...
Hi, I had the same problem. Try to go to the 'Welcome to Android' screen with the android guy. Touch the upper left, upper right, down right (above the bar with the Emergency dial button and down left in THAT order. It should work....
Dual screen not active, work around
Hi guys, after reading several threads I was having problems getting any of the method to work for my LG H634. I was able to get as far as opening browser, but as far as installing an app or opening dual windows I was unable to. It seems that the dual screen option is not turned on when the phone is reset and returns default setting. Fortunately while using the phones browser to research the problem I noticed the more browser window and apps I left open the the longer it would take to go to the activation screen when the phone was turned on. After leaving nearly 30 browser windows and several app such as messages note pad and other as that I was able to open using the share option from sites such as YouTube the phone had enough lag when initially booting that I actually had time to open the setting screen by quickly making a downward swipe on the screen during short time it took to go from the the opening screen to the activation screen. Once I was able to do this I had full access to the phone's option menu which allowed me to change account, turn on the dual screen option, allow third party apps to be installed as well as every thing else needed to gain full access to my phone.
Hope this helps some of you. I there are any questions I will be glad to answer them.
I don't think my lock screen is working correctly. I have is set to no pin or password but once I wake the screen with the power button if I tap anywhere on the screen it unlocks. Previously on Sense you need to drag the lock or an icon into a ring on the screen. Is this how its supposed to happen now?

I would go into your sellings > lock screen and see if the quick launch apps are disabled. That's the only thing that comes to mind :fingers-crossed:
I can remember watching a video on YouTube about HTC tips and tricks or something and one if the things the guy was showing was the ability to unlock the phone from anywhere in the screen, I actually liked the idea if this however on mine you have to drag the lock item up.

Have you tried a restore?
Also, try going to a long-ish website on it (or something else that you can scroll through) then just tap once at around the same place as the lock-clock would be, see what happens when you do that.
The single touch unlock seems to be caused by services activated under the "accessibility settings" (German: "Eingabehilfe"). This concerns Tasker, Lightflow etc. Set these to off and you need to swype to unlock.

I'm sure it's not your digitizer. It's the settings. This used to happened on my htc hd2 as well sometimes. I don't remember the settings of sense but if you do not find them just restore it to factory settings and it should be fine.

You're absolutely right. Thanks for solving this mystery for me.
I received my One today and at some point during the installation of my apps started experiencing the same problem: the lock screen unlocked with a single touch instead of a swipe. Turns out its normal function returns when I switch off all accessibility services.
Which is annoying, because I need those accessibility settings for Tasker and for my Pebble. I wish HTC made this a separate option instead of assuming that as soon as you activate one accessibility option, you must be physically unable to move your thumb accross the screen... :-/
It's not just that the lock screen doesn't really lock anymore; in the "productivity" setup, I can't swipe beyond the first calendar entry because it disappears at the first touch. I really hope HTC fixes this in an update soon.

I am having the same problem. This issue occurs also when you have to turn Accessibility Service on for apps like "Notify me" etc. The lockscreen unlocks with every single touch...
Does someone have a solution for this?
Thanks in advance
I've opened a support ticket yesterday on htc.com and described the issue. Haven't heard back from them yet, but it's weekend of course.
Maybe if we all contact support they'll become aware of the issue and we'll get a solution sooner?
Got a reply today:
Thank you for your email regarding your HTC device. Unfortunately we dont know what 3rd party apps will do to the phone and therefore we cant support 3rd party apps. If you dont like the fact that your screen can be unlocked by a single touch i would advise you to remove the 3rd party app(s) or talk to the developer of those apps. If you have any further questions you can reply to this email.

So I wrote back:
Hello,
I wouldn't say those third party apps are responsible. They require accessibility services for certain features, but they do not in themselves affect the lock screen behaviour.
I believe it is the HTC Sense software that automatically (and unnecessarily) sets the lock screen to open at a single touch when any accessibility setting is used. I understand this issue cannot be solved at the moment, but I do hope a future update will introduce the option for the user to choose the lock screen behaviour himself.

Thanks for the tips -- didn't know about the second one yet.
I'm a bit surprised there aren't more people reporting this problem. A lot of forum users here must be using Tasker, I can imagine, and have its accessibility service enabled, and therefore must experience the same lock screen defect. It's the only thing that really bothers me about this phone (apart from the fact that Zoe is practically unusable with Dropbox auto upload).
Hey folks
I'm having trouble setting up my Nexus 6 as a new device.
I am on the developer preview 3 and I have tried both logging out of my google account and factory resetting. I have also reflashed the preview that that would work.
However all I can do is restore from a backup but I want to setup as a new device. I can select it from the drop down menu which is weird but it won't allow me to select done.
Is this some sort of Android 6.0 feature?
Thanks for any help.

Things to know
Max recording resolution is not 2160p as said on the internet but max 1080P.
If you unlock the bootloader it will give you a warning when you boot up the phone saying your phone has been unlocked and can`t be trusted, this is normal when you unlocked the bootloader.
Only 1 of the 2 simcards can use 4g at the time, so there is no 4g for both of the simcards at the same time.
Hold power and volume up when starting the phone to get in the E-recovery menu.
There is only one version of this phone, the chinese one.
This version is called the EDI-AL10, and all the languages are provided on the phone.
Some websites who are selling this phone are telling that this phone misses certain languages such as dutch.
This is not true, every language is present so no worries.
Playstore is not included on the phone, you can simply download it from the HiApp which is already pre-installed on the phone.
The fingerprintscanner can take up to 4 fingers, the fingerprintscanner only works when you activate an unlock code or password to get out of the lockscreen.
Latest rom version is B029.

Quickfixes/Tips and tricks:
Push notifcations
To make push notifications work again create a widget (provided with the app) and place it on your home screen.
The widget will keep the services alive, even when you close the app in the taskmanager.
Make sure you toggle them on in the protected apps menu and put the powerplan on performance mode.
This works for all apps that came with the option to create a widget for it.
Homebutton changer (provided by kalinskym)
To disable HiVoice to allow a different application/ shortcut to work as the Home Button without being rooted. Download Debloater from http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/software/debloater-remove-carrier-bloat-t2998294 and disable HiVoice.apk. (com.huawei.vassistant) After you have done that you won't see HiVoice anymore and will be able to change an app/ shortcut to the home button long press by going into Apps in Settings, clicking on Advance at the bottom. Then click Default app settings and finally Assistance & voice input to change assist app (home button app/shortcut)
One handed mode
To activate one handed mode drag you finger on the navigation bar from left to right to make the screen smaller and using for the right hand.
And drag it from right to left to make the screen smaller for using it with your left hand.
Once activated drag it in the opposite way once to restore full screen or tap once on the screen above that isn't in use.
Knuckle gesture/Splitscreen
To activate "Knuckle gesture" or just splitscreen, swipe your knuckle in the center of the screen from left to right or right to left.
When doing this succesfully the knuckle command will activate splitscreen.
Knuckle gesture/Advanced screenshot
Touch (knock) your knuckle on the screen and keep touching the screen, there will come a blue sparkle once activated drag a circle or square and it will give you a selection field.
On top are some figures you can choose from.
You can now select the part you want the screenshot from and save it directly on to the phone.
Double tap your knuckle on the screen to make a full screenshot. (same as volume down+power button)
Drawing an S on the screen with your knuckle will create a screen shot while it scrolls down the page.
This wil create a screenshot with a larger screenshot containing all the footage on the screen.
Now you don't have to make multiple screenshots to get everything on the screen and down.
(Check screenshot in the attachments)
Please let me know in which country you guys are and if 4g/lte works in your country so i can update the 4g/lte list.

To make push notifications work again create a widget (provided with the app) and place it on your home screen.
The widget will keep the services alive, even when you close the app in the taskmanager.
Make sure you toggle them on in the protected apps menu and put the powerplan prestation mode.
After you have done that you won't see HiVoice anymore and will be able to change an app/ shortcut to the home button long press by going into Apps in Settings, clicking on Advance at the bottom. Then click Default app settings and finally Assistance & voice input to change assist app (home button app/shortcut)

This is useful information. Thanks for that! I have been having an issue with the fingerprint reader taking a second longer to unlock when the phone goes into a deep sleep; However, whenever the screen is recently turned off or when the phone is charging and I try to unlock it with the fingerprint scanner, it works super fast. It's only slow when I initially wake the phone from a deep sleep. Has this happened to you/anyone? I think it may either be an app or marshmallow doze feature. I would appreciate any suggestion/advice. Thanks.

I don`t have any delays with the fingerprint, however i use Smart Unlock to bypass the fingerprint in trusted locations.
Did you already tried to remove the old prints and register new?
Only thing else i can say if thats not working is to factory reset the phone.
on what powerplan did you put your phone? And did you toggle answer calls with fingerprint.
Sounds silly but if thats disabled there is a possibilty that the fingerprint app goes in sleep while activated for answering calls could keep it alive....Always worth trying...

I tried removing the old fingerprints and replaced with new ones. I even did a factory reset. The factory reset did it. That's what leads me to believe it's more an app than marshmallow doze. I just don't know how to identify which app. I even played with turning on all the features of fingerprint scanner. I am on performance mode. It's not a HUGE deal since the phone still unlocks faster than others, but it's a nuance since you know the phone is capable of unlocking faster. If you can think of another recommendation as to identifying the app or cause I would be grateful.

Hi, 4G works in Russia.
I think an easier way to change the voice assistant would be to download the Microsoft Clip Layer app. When it asks you to Tap on Assist app click on that setting and choose something different. I had already had HiVoice disabled when I downloaded the app so if someone else can confirm that it will work I'm sure someone would appreciate it.
4G/Lte works in Melbourne, Australia on Optus
4G/LTE is working fine in Switzerland! (16ms ping, 89Mb/s DL and 20Mb/s in UL in the alps)
Thnx guys, post updated!

Hi, I did a factory reset and confirmed that the Microsoft Clip Layer app does allow you to switch the voice assistant. It is a much easier process than disabling the app and does not require a computer hook-up.
4g works fine for me in England on O2/Tesco

Hello guys, I have updated global ROM yesterday, and after that my Google Assistant doesn't work like it used to:
After pressing AI button it doesn't start listening my voice commands, instead it launches main Google Assistant screen. The same thing happens on locked screen. "ok google" works normally.
I've partially managed to make it work by setting "Long press" to "talk to google assistant" - now it kinda works - I must do a long press, and than long press one more time and during that talk to assistant, what is very annoying.
Do you have any tips how to get it back to work?
I would check the app permissions and settings related to Google and make sure none of them changed after the update. On my phone after the last update I had to reenable the permissions for a bunch of apps.
If that doesn't work you can do a factory reset but you would need to select set up as new device instead of restoring from a cloud backup. A cloud backup could restore the data that is causing your problem.
Yes!!!!! Same issue here, with my Mi 9 and my wife's, on the EEA ROM version. After upgrading to 10.2.26.0 it does not launches voice assistant as it used to before.
Before:
Press on AI button: voice assistant ready to recognize your voice, even with the screen locked
Press and push: same behavior
Now:
Press on AI button: if screen is locked, nothing happens. If screen is unlocked, it shows the Google Assistant home page.
Press and push: if screen is locked, shows voice assistant but not ready to recognize your voice, you need to click on the mic icon. If screen is unlocked, launches assistant ready to recognize your voice.
Xiaomi screwed up big time on that!!!

Can confirm, exactly the same here! They didn't fix any of the bugs and brought in a new one ? Im thinking of rooting and flashing a custom Rom. I don't want to loose my guarantee but I can't wait 6 Months until I get all the stuff that's fixed in beta and .eu ?
