[q] moto g 2nd gen (xt1068) no sim slot working - G 2014 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Recently my phone Moto G 2nd Gen (XT1068) was stuck on start up and didin't boot further. So I decided to unlock my boot loader and installed a different rom from other party as the Motorola website wasn't working. Now after flashing the new rom my sim card slots aren't working while everything is working fine . I downloaded another rom from another website and flashed it again (not the motorola official website) and still the sim slots aren't working. Nothing is shown up when the sim is inserted (yes this sim works on other phones) . What should I do now?

Hi,
I will have your thread moved to your device section.
Good luck!

Id fastboot flash to the stock firmware.

Help with changing carriers

I bought a used XT1053 that was on Nextel Mexico and intend to use it with Straighttalk so I unlocked the bootloader so I can run the TMO 4.4 firmware. The upgrade went fine except after I reboot once, the second time the unit comes up, the boot animation changes and it displays a verizon splash screen. I flashed TMO_RETAIL_XT1053_4.4-13.11.1Q2.X-69-3_MR2_1FF that I downloaded straight from Moto and ran the .bat in fastboot. Any ideas what is going on? All seems to work on the phone and I have 4G/LTE.

Sounds like you downloaded the Verizon Dev edition firmware and not the tmobile, I'd download it again.

Thanks for the reply but I'm positive I downloaded
MOTO X, GSM Dev Edition:
KK 4.4-13.11.1Q2.X-69-3_MR2 (Retail)
Which is TMO_RETAIL_XT1053_4.4-13.11.1Q2.X-69-3_MR2_1FF.xml.zip. I triple checked and it's fine on the 1st boot, it only changes on subsequent boots.

I'm not sure that a full restore image changes the boot logo screens. If your phone works on your network, then maybe all you have to do is change the boot loader image(s) which are just graphics and have nothing to do with what the phone is running..

I can try redoing the bootloader in fastboot, funny thing is it boots correctly the 1st time. It's almost like the OS thinks it's a non standard bootloader and rewrites it.

what version is xt1063

I've gotten my hand on a Moto G 2nd Generation. Sorry I've exhausted the search engine on trying to find out what country this moto g is for. The model on the back says XT1063. It is only single sim. does not have any network branding on it. In the system information, it says Moto G (2nd generation) I've tried ATT sim, Tmobile Sim, Verizon Sim, and even bought an unlock code, but noway for me to enter the code. My only guess now is that this version is already unlocked, but for another country(india???) Does anyone know how to get to the menu to enter the unlock screen if this is indeed the global (compatible with US). The tutorials I saw just shows putting in a sim from another network and it shows the unlock code screen.
and if it is indeed a different country, may I ask which one so I can somehow try to sell it.
Thanks XDA.
in my experience i restored to stock using the tools provided in the developers section, after this my radio was not working (im from mexico) and my guess is because the radio i flashed is from US, later i restore to stock again but with radio from Mexico and got my sim working that way.
So what i trying to say is: why dont you try flashing to stock using radio for you're country, than try using the sim.
i used this

btw. i own XT1063 also.

XT1064 with dual-SIM reader, XT1068 ROM possible?

The SIM card reader in my XT1064 was busted, so I replaced it with a dual-SIM one for the XT1068 and made the cut into the back shell so that it would fit and could be accessed. Mechanically, perfect.
First SIM is working perfectly, but second SIM is not recognized. I assume this is purely because the XT1064 ROM doesn't support it. IOW, a software-only limitation.
Has anybody run an XT1064 with an XT1068 ROM and can confirm it working/not working? Is there any other way to add dual-SIM support?
XT1064 with stock 5.0.2, rooted.

Nope, also only sees the first, and doesn't offer SIM settings for the second.
The XT1068 stock ROM had dual-SIM settings but none of them work.
XT1068 stock ROM with modem from XT1064 ROM still has dual-SIM settings and the first one works but the second one is disabled and greyed out, so cannot be enabled.
Perhaps something is missing in the XT1064 hardware.
Risky business... But shouldn't you need the xt1068 modem?

Theoretically, yes, but the XT1068 modem doesn't see/detect/enable the SIM cards. Something else besides the reader must be different.
Well, it was worth a try. I am now back to XT1064 stock with a single SIM card and a second but useless slot.

i m not expert .. but i think you have to flash stock xt1056 rom from rsdlite software .. !
first you need to unlock bootloader then you will be able to recover your device .
may be you can flash stock rom with locked bootloader via ADB
go to forum & search to get bootloader unlocked or stock rom !

XT1965-2 not recognizing any SIM card

Just as the title says, my phone suddenly stopped recognizing any SIM card. Even though it knows which carrier it is. I've tried changing carriers and it still recognizes which carrier but won't connect to any network.
All other functionalities in the phone work. I'm currently on stock android 9. Any help would be greatly thanked.
first of all is your imei fine if yes just try flashing stock again
second if you flashed a custom rom and then try to go back to stock and then your sim is not recognized by the phone ( if the answer to this one is yes then flas the same rom again - this just happened to me so now i´m stuck with custom rom) i have the same XT1965-2 but mine is from mexico
