[Q] Buying Nexus 6 Unclock besides Google and Motorola - Nexus 6 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey,
Im about to visit US next week and had problems ordering the phone online.
Is there any way to buy this phone at stores? like T-Mobile or somthing?
I want to pay upfrond and use it with my SIM, im not US citizen so buying it contract base is impossible for me.
Thank you.

If TMobile has it in stock, you can buy the MB 32GB version in the store. Best Buy also sells the unlocked version for Sprint.

Because they only sell 64gb online. I believe all carrier stores only sell 32gb in-store

That is correct.
Also, buying the phone from a carrier outright may not sell it to you unless you have at least one month of service with them.

I just called on of there stores and they told me its sold unlocked (the 32gigs) and i can use it immediately with my SIM card, i asked the seller for the 64gigs and he told me to call about it to the customer care service.
I called them and they told me they can sell it but the device come locked and just after 3 month they will unlocked it...
I confuse...does the device comes locked or unlocked? or maybe it differs with the 32gigs and the 64?

T-Mobile US has been pretty good about leaving nexus devices unlocked. As for the n6 not sure about unlock status, but I am pretty sure that they will not sell a device full price with no service. Tried before and was shot down at multiple stores for the n5. I don't think the policy has changed.

But anyway, im about to buy there SIM to using for my trip (like for a month) , maybe it will be enough for them to sell me the devices?

But you will only find the 32GB in store. And remember that this is the North American varient. Depending on where you live, the phone may not get LTE when you go back home. You would be better off purchasing the international variant from somewhere in Europe or the Middle East.

[Q] Sim lock

Hey,
if I buy the phone at full retail price without contract, is it then locked for sim cards as well? I cant find this information anywhere.
I'm thinking about buying it and take it home to europa. Thats why im asking.
Thanks
It might be, considering it's on Verizon, but I'm not sure if it'd even work in Europe. It is, primarily, on Verizon's CDMA bands and presumably the SIM is only for roaming usage, I'm not really sure if it would work to just buy it in the US and take it back home.
You can buy the overseas equivalent, which is the Milestone 3 and should be available(if not now, then soon). The Milestone, unless I'm mistaken, is GSM primarily.
If I have undesrtood correctly, Motorola Droid 3 works on European WCDMA networks. They advertise phone like "3G works more than 125 countries".
I have same problem. I want Droid 3. I have heard only one comment about Droid 3 Europe edition. It says that Milestone 3 comes to Europe in Q3 or Q4. News also say that it will not arrive to UK.
Only problem on Verizon model is hotspot restrictions and contract needed. I don't want pay 30$ for 2GB, because unlimited data costs 15$, in Finland..

I thought the one for 460$ is "contract free" ? Or what does full retail price means?

At droidforums.net guys want to take it to the uk, sim already insert.
It is defenetly working, my question is now, do i get it without contract?
The thing about waiting and buying it when it gets released at europa is no point, because when i buy it now for 460$ in the us, it means 340€ (if you now a Stewardess you do not even pay taxes and shipping). When it gets released here it might be around 450€, normally they change it 1:1.

Verizon wants to keep Droid 3. Still, if you buy it with cash, you must take Verizon to Operator.
I'm not sure, will BestBuy require Verizon use, because they are Verizon branded.

A unlock code ebay seller told me they get codes for the droid 3 as well.
He has over 6000 evaluations, i'll see in a few weeks.
I have always watched Droids Google and Verizon marks, and I like them(as stupid as it sounds) and if models come to eBay or somewhere, I'll buy it.

Yes, it is SIM locked even if you buy it at full retail price without a contract. If you're a Verizon customer and meet a handful of qualifications, Verizon will unlock the SIM free of charge. Beyond that, the only way to get it unlocked is to wait until some online vendors get codes for it. Once it's unlocked, it should work on pretty much any GSM network outside of the U.S.

Buy Chinese htc one

Does anyone know where I can buy the Chinese htc one and use it here in USA? I really need that sd card slot since I heard that Chinese htc one variants has it. Will the Chinese htc one work with the at&t lte network ?

The SD card and dual SIM came at the cost of LTE support and WCDMA support. It is a dual band TD-SCDMA phone and a tri-band WCDMA phone on SIM 1 only. SIM 2 is GSM only.
Edit:http://www.htc.com/cn/smartphones/htc-one/#specs
It will only work on AT&T 3G/HSPA+. Won't work on TMOUS HSPA+ unless you're in a refarm area. No LTE.
i think it doesnt support lte.....only wcdma or tdcmda

You'll probably end up paying way more than just getting the 64gb one from att... Is 64gb really not enough for you? Do you really need the SD card slot that bad? What exactly do you need more than 64gb for, if you don't mind me asking? Really curious..

Taobao and Tmall are relatively safe online shopping sites. Think of it as the Amazon of China.
Its selling for 4888CNY, not sure about shipping but unless you think its worth it... its your decision though.
Edit: 4888CNY=792USD
Developer Edition(64GB)=650$
Think again whether its worth it.

Looks like it's only the pre-order page atm. Tmall is offering it from all 3 chinese carriers (china mobile, china unicom, china telecom).
One thing you need to be aware of is that the chinese version claim to be a metal body phone, but its back cover is acutally plastic. You can easliy pick out the white unpainted plastic spot on the top in the first picture. So,that's a trade off and it doesn't support LTE, dual sim is pretty much a meh feature to me but chinese people seems to love the idea since it is now a standard for any manufacturers in the chinese market. Oh and it's plauged with phone company apps you don't really need and their cheesy boot screen.....
PS.Taobao is more like e-bay's counter part. JD.com or newegg.com.cn is the chinese amazon and amazon does have its chinese version too at amazon.cn
Wouldn't be compatible with international roms.

Dual SIM on all Chinese variants.
Selling price for unlocked is 4880 before negotiation.
Not sure about China telecom/unicom/mobile prices from their stores.
You can buy from any China Telecom store for their variant. If you want the unlocked variant, you can buy it from any HTC retailer... Which is everywhere in China.

[Q] T-MO (N900T) or Intl. (N9005) ? for use on AT&T

I understand that the T-Mo version has its many advantages of having its unlocked bootloader, DEV support, SIM unlock, etc...
Price point aside, are there any major advantages/disadvantages between purchasing the T-Mo(N900T) or the Intl version (N9005)?
Every stat comparison seems to be similar, ROM support and all the freq bands are there.
Looking for some definitive answers from the community before spending big bucks on a new unit.

On my way to the T-MO store then. :fingers-crossed:
Just so I get this straight,
1. Purchase the N900T.
2. Purchase a $10 or $20 SIM card. (then insert it and use the phone) Required?
3. Bring it home and use the service on CellUnlocker.net
4. Wait for the unlock codes then ENJOY! (Change APN settings)
Optional;
Follow the rooting/recovery guides in the T-Mo thread.

Lol no worries. Just get the T-mobile version and you'll be just fine. I unlocked mine for cellunlocker.net ( well technically i havent unlocked it yet as i am waiting for my note 3 to be delivered but i got the unlock code ready to go).

Thanks for the update on that. You did not have to put a T-Mo SIM first? I thought that was required for the region unlock issue?
How are the actual LTE speeds? Others have mentioned a drop in speeds due to AT&T not giving top priority to the T-Mo IMEI.

+1 on this question. How is the signal strength as well compared to a true AT&T phone in the same area?
Galaxy Note 3 Active
I was in the T-Mo store today looking at the Note 3. Ready and willing to go ahead and pull the trigger, then the rep says they are all out of the white one. They will have more in by the end of the week. Then mentions, they do have some at another store about 5 miles away though. He looks at me looking all disappointed and says, have you heard the rumor about the N3 active? No, I said. He says, if you can wait to get a new phone you might want to read up as it looks like Samsung is going to be going ahead with the release very soon.

It's because their stock of N900T's have been blacklisted by US carriers. Meaning they were obtained from the gray market. T-Mobile and AT&T have a database of IMEI's that are blocked from their network.
N900T vs N900A
I was reading the thread and was wondering why folks would prefer to buy the N900T vs N900A (especially when they are planning to use if for AT&T and will be required to unlock immediately)? Is there hardware/software advantages for the N900T over the N900A?
I'll add my 2 cents on this. I had originally purchased the T-Mobile variant (N900T) of the Note 3. I loaded up a custom rom and it was perfect. Shortly after that, I noticed my LTE signal (not HSPA) would be very low (-110dbm) in areas where my AT&T branded phones would sit on -94dbm. I flashed back to stock and noticed the same thing. Overall, LTE reception on band 17 on the N900T was very poor. Its probably because the N900T isn't optimized to use Band 17. Using the device with T-Mobile service, I had no LTE issues.
Now using the N900A for AT&T and get great LTE reception.
A buddy of mine has also noticed the TMO Note3 gets a lower reception when compared to my ATT note3. We are both on ATT as well.

Locked or Unlocked?

I have an uncle in the states and he can buy the phone from at&t or t-mobile cheaper and send it to me. Will the phone be unlocked? Would i be able to use it? Yeah, all Nexus phones purchased from Google are unlocked. I'm not sure what's going to happen with the carrier branded ones this time around though as this is the first time Google has marketed a Nexus as a premium device to compete with all the other flagships. I don't think ones bought from carriers will be locked, but that's just a guess. As long as it's purchased from the Play store, and as long as the bands are compatible, as nexus6R3plicant mentioned, then you'll have no issues getting it to work.

[Q] Nexus 6 at BestBuy?

I've been waiting for the Nexus 6 carrier-free to come to BestBuy. At this time only the Sprint and AT&T Nexus 6 are available in the store. I can't buy a carrier one because I have to take the phone abroad for someone else.
Any idea when the carrier-free Nexus 6 will come to BestBuy? Or any other suggestions of where I could buy the carrier-free Nexus 6?

Get it from Google Play Store or Motorola.
If you get it from a carrier such as T-Mobile (you have to look it up yourself) their phone is not locked to T-Mobile. You will however have to pay off remaining EIP balance or pay for the device outright and have at least 1 month of service.
Sprint Nexus 6 should be SIM unlocked and can be used wherever.
Yup, the only variant that is SIM locked is AT&T's. I would have bought the Sprint version from BBuy, but they want $699 for the 32gb. I don't think so.
I recommend giving swappa a serious look. 32gb blue N6's are going for 700 flat all the time (with shipping included). Consider if you got "lucky" enough to buy one from Google Play or Moto. You'd need to pay $649 plus tax and shipping. That will easily put you above $700. And then you'd need to wait weeks in order for the phone to leave the warehouse.
I lucked up and talked a seller down to $710 shipped for a 32gb white. I say I got a great deal.

Would BestBuy match the GPS price? Or even the Sprint.com price which lists it at $648?

Oh well. I would've chosen Google Play or Motorola.com but I haven't been lucky enough to be able to order from them.
Another question, if I buy the unlocked Sprint Nexus 6, will it be exactly the same as the unbranded Nexus 6? Or will there be bloatware or something like a sprint logo on it? And also will it work outside the USA?

No Sprint logo. "Bloatware" would be determined based on the SIM card.
Work outside of USA..... find that yourself with the bands in your country to the Americas model.
So the Sprint Nexus 6 will be almost exactly like the unbranded one but just $50 above the normal price?
And if I get the Sprint one can I just take it abroad or will I have to use Sprint services for a certain period of time?

It will be exactly the same, but yes more expensive. The only one that is any different is one from AT&T, but even that is essentially the same phone (model number-wise). If you are buying it for outside the US, why not look into the International variant? Or has it not released where you want it yet?

I have to get it for a friend living in Asia and it hasn't been released anywhere but the US and UK yet. If I get the Sprint version of the phone, will I need to use Sprint services for a specific period of time or can I just take the phone abroad?

Verify that the bands will work in China or have the signals that he wants to utilize.
For sprint I'm not sure, ask their customer service as they'll give you a answer. You'll have to buy the phone outright of course.
