Gear Vr blue screen? - Samsung Gear VR

I own a Tmobile Note 4, I installed all the Occulus Apps after it was all completed i put the glasses on and its just a solid blue screen, anything i need to change to fix this? besides a restore?
*UPDATE*
I have reflashed Nk4 and still all i get is the blue screen, i see notifications but the occulus store never opens , what am i doing wrong?

I had that happen to me as well. I flashed the newest stock samsung rom with odin (leaving data intact) and things reverted to normal with oculus working

Indeed that worked perfect I just used my vr on my last flight n it was heavenly with my noise canceling headphones

Galaxy Gear not displaying notifications

Hi, I got the new Galaxy Gear for my brother. He has a SGS III with the latest official update (4.3) and the Gear App is on the phone, the gear is paired and it (almost) works.
That means - he can do calls (call/receive), he has weather there and stuff like that, you can configure the Gear from the phone, no problems. The Gear is, as far as I know, updated to the latest firmware version as well.
The problem is, no matter what we try, the Gear doesn't display any notifications from the phone. They are properly configured in the Gear App (even tried turning it off and on again). I also found a mention about the screen of the phone, that when off, the phone has to be locked at least with a swipe. I even configured a gesture for unlocking, just to be sure I understood the instruction correctly or in case the instruction meant that and said something else. I guess there was something else mentioned as well somewhere, I don't exactly remember what it was.
Anyway, all the instructions I've found looked mostly like applying black magic...
Of course, the next step could be factory reset of both the phone and the gear (well, the gear first, but I'd like to do FR of the phone as the last option as it is a pain in the ass in case you don't have the device rooted and backed-up completely).
So, here are my remarks/questions
I googled quite a lot about this issue (which is hard because Google returns a lot of irrelevant crap). Is there something obvious I could have missed?
Has anyone had encounter a similar issue? And resolved it?

hi,
first of all,
On watch do you have a section ...Notifications..? (if you swipe /scroll on your watch, from watchface ) ?
and what version of Gear manager ,(do yo have on phone ?)
and what version software do you have on watch ?
(eg ..i am currently on/using GM 1.5........( on phone ) ,and the software version of watch. V700XXUBML1 ( leaked software ROM......not rooted and have a Note 3 phone )
(No problems at all !! battery is excellent and i receive all my notifications .)
I know that in general GM (Gear manager) Version 1.6.....
( it is also some leaked Gear manager software, that is supposed to be used, if your phone software, is ugraded to Kitkat ) )
I noticed and also read on this forum , the notifications sections is missing completely ( in most cases )
This was also my experienced when I was using GM 1.6...!
otherwise ..suggestion ..
uninstall GManager( make a backup of apk before from /in your phones file explorer ..
i use es file xplorer to ussually do this ,saving me from re downloading apk again ?
or just download apk again and do another clean install from Samsung app stores )
when installing GM, don't restore setting/backups etc .. do clean install from scratch !
good luck
post note ,
your watch does not have to be set/ locked at all ,as long you have received notification on the phone and not read it !
eg..your phone is in sleep mode ,and your watch also ...connected bluetooth
it will then wake up watch and you will see the notification displaying on watch and after a few seconds it will disappear and to view again scroll on watch to notifications on watch and read from there if you want to. !
Make sure you have set up the notifications you want in Gear Manager.
Also your phone screen needs to be off, ie Lock Screen or Sleep

[Q] Battery dying in 12 hours! - Solved

Hey guys,
For some reason my Gear dies in half a day and I can't work out why. I'm using Skin's modded Tizen ROM but have been doing so for months and this has just started to happen.
- I have no apps installed;
- I don't have auto on when I raise my wrist, although I've tried it with this on and makes no difference;
- I've reset the phone to factory settings. It was actually fine during the day. Put it in my drawer over night, woke up 7 hours later and it had gone from 75% to dead!
- Reset it AGAIN and it's still muffed!;
- Uninstalled the Gear s/w and reinstalled to no avail.
I may be barking up the wrong tree here, but it seemed to coincide with the orange coloured version of the Gear manager. Does anyone have the apk for the previous version where it was all white with a colourful top border please? Or failing that, have any idea what the hell my watch thinks it's up to?
Thanks!
EDIT
Solution
1. Deleted the Gear software (and checked for any remainders in the file manager...although personally I found none);
2. Hard reset the watch, just in case;
3. Installed Gear Manager 2.1.14071502 (courtesy of Brendo);
4. Paired and got it all working well. This alone sorted the battery life which was nice.
5. I let the software update automatically; (obviously bypassing the dodgy version)!
6. Boom! It works fine with the latest app!
Did you try resetting watch? Check link in my sig for older versions of gm

Yep I've also reset the watch on two occasions. Still dying within 9 hours Cheers for the apk's though, I'll see if that makes any difference. Otherwise I may have to ditch Skin's ROM and try the official - see if that helps.
I am getting almost the same thing over the last few days. My Gear Manager updated to a newer version and I have had the issue ever since. Idk what about updating that on my phone would have to do with the Gears battery life but I have changed a few settings on my notifications to see if that is going to help. I also keep getting "saproviders has stopped" CONSTANTLY. Was popping up every 3 seconds and I could not do anything with my phone. Finally got into Titanium and froze that app and I have had no more issues with that on my phone but I don't think that is cause my Gear to have poor battery life would it? I may have to go back to a older version of Gear Manager.
Similar thing for me with saproviders although it was happening because I had disabled Unified Daemon (EUR) process. Reenabled it and that went....although sometimes the UD(EUR) drains my phone battery and is really only used for weather updates.
As for the draining issue, I'm having a go with Gear Manager 2.1.14071502 and seeing if it makes any difference. So far it is, but I will report my findings back in 24hrs!

That is exactly the version I downloaded also. Gonna have to figure out how to get it to stop wanting to auto update to the newer versions. Just gonna set my settings and not go back to gear manager for awhile. See if it makes a difference for my Gears battery life before I go looking at anything else.
Okay that has fixed it, going back to Gear Manager 2.1.14071502! The watch has been on for 3.5 hours and is still at 100% rather than 55% as it was yesterday!!!
WTF Samsung?!?!
What the hell have they done with their latest Gear app? It must be causing some sort of wakelock on the watch itself.
Guess I'll wait for a month for newer releases.

Good to know about the Gear Manager, I was gonna suggest a reset , but doing the reset via "recovery" , instead of selecting "download" like when using Odin, you select "recovery" and it resets also. I've done the reset that way in the past and it fixed my issues. I had looked all over the Tizen OS for battery stats with no luck. Maybe the Gear somehow stash's the stats or something on the phone instead...? Hmm, I'm gonna dig around in gear manager..

Yea have a look Chris. Actually I did reset via the GM first time, the second time I did it via the hardware...as in hold power, keep tapping it and reset that way. Both ways made little unfortunately.
My watch was still on 97% after 8 hours of none use over night so I'm pretty sure it's GM. However, now it wants to update and I literally cannot stop it If I say no, it exits the app, if I say yes the obvious happens. How can I block it?
Also, just for fun I've let it run the update. I know the first version of the 'orange GM' had issues and Samsung updated that immediately. I'm speculating over whether that first cocked up version brought over an issue into the latest one. Thereby if I go from an even older version to the latest, the issue may disappear... as always, I'll keep posting results.
after downgrading GM to previous version, my battery life also improved, after 9 hours of having it at work, taking some pics, sync to internet i had 70% left. gorgeous!
i will never ever press update again. each update only brings more bugs and no new functionality.
Well now I want to potentially throw a curve ball...although we'll see by tomorrow. After downgrading to 2.1.14071502 then upgrading to the latest my gear has been sat idle for 2 hours and sits at 100% battery life.
If this works, it means the previous version of the latest software created some kind of bug and carried itself through to the latest revision. So - this *may* have sorted it. I'll have to keep an eye on it for now but it's looking promising.
i did downgrade but it force app to upgrade or it will stop
Well I've never double posted before in my life! Not sure how that happened - apologies
Right it appears to be fixed (finally).
24 hours - 8% battery use - using the latest Gear software...GREAT!
Theory
The first version of the new batch of gear software had some weird bug causing a wakelock on the watch. Upgrading the app didn't remove it.
What I did
1. Deleted the Gear software (and checked for any remainders in the file manager...although personally I found none);
2. Hard reset the watch, just in case;
3. Installed Gear Manager 2.1.14071502 (courtesy of Brendo);

5. I let the software update automatically; (obviously bypassing the dodgy version)!
6. Boom! It works fine with the latest app!
All of that said, you may be able to skip steps 3-5 and directly install the latest version....but I tried that and for some reason I still has horrendous battery life.
I'm not sure why the steps above fixed it, but they did. So have a go if this is pi**ing you off as it may just work.
Cheers!
@jonboyuk I've done what you did ,didnt work , even downloaded latest version 2.2.14092299 from @Brendo but still keeps the going to 2.2.14090599 and saprovider FC , i did clean data saprovider and uninstall it worked , but after restarting gear and re-connect it back as it was even uninstalling saprovider wont help anymore.
so now its draining battery so quick. and media control not working.

I ran the same previous version of GM you did. I got GREAT battery life with it. Completely fixed my problem. Now I do have that stubborn update that keeps popping. This is what I do. I click GM app. Update popup comes up and says Cancel or Update. I click the update and when the DL starts, I hit the home button on my GS4 to minimize the app and then i hold the Home button to clear all apps which shuts down the GM app and kills the update. Then I go back to GM app and it does not ask me to update any more. It stays away until I reboot the phone normally. Temp fix i guess but Ill look into it more and see if there is a way to completely stop it.

I had this issue. I went into Titanium Backup and froze the SAProviders app. Stopped the popup because it was constantly popping up and was very annoying and could not use my phone at all. Frezzing the app solved the pop up but the bad battery life still stayed until i reverted back to a older version of the GM app like I said in the comment above this one. Still looking for a way to perm stop the update from popping up.

Every time I try to go back it re-installs 599. Even if I stop it by holding down the home button and close all apps. I re-open GM and it goes right back to downloading additional software. Has anyone figured a way around this? My watch is dead in 6 hours the way it is now so it's basically useless...

first you need to uninstall new Gear Manager, then disable Samsung Apps (Settings->Apps), and then install older GM, you choose. That helped me to disable auto GM update from Samsung, what was very nervous...
Guys, I removed with Titanium all the Gear stuff and installed the 14071502 version without a problem. Freezing SAProviders stopped the update notification from showing up. But my Gear still uses around 10%/hour of battery Anything else I can try?

I have also installed the 2.1.14071502 version. To prevent forcing to upgrade to 2.2, I just disabled Wifi and 3G.. so, it only installs the software of this version. When I got paired, I go to Gear Manager Setup and uncheck the Automatic Update .. so, I only have that version. For goprovider FC, I installed the version from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2758364 (goprovider-signed-20140529.apk )
And that's all! I have a working goprovider, with 2.1 Manager.... BUT, this version doesn't allow the notification from any app! So, I don't get notifications from WhatsApp, FB, skype.. none! So, do you have another later version (not 2.2)? or any other way to get Whatsapp,etc notifications?

Is the fan on galaxy gear vr for s6 audible or noticeable

So I just got the galaxy gear vr for s6 and it overheated after about 20 minutes two run throughs of the cirque show. After that I couldn't get the main menu to load, it would stutter then go blank. Same result all night even factory reset my phone and it still wouldn't load. (this may be an unrelated software issue) the premenu warni g works fine and tracks perfectlt.... this morning the next day it all worked again. I am at a loss and so I am wondering if the gear electronics severely overheated because maybe my fan isn't working...
So I ask can anyone tell when their fan is running? Does it run all the time when the phone is plugged in?? I can't hear or feel it at all.
Thanks
Happened to me as well. It was all stutter and sluggish when I first used it. I couldn't even go pass the home screen because the cursor was jumping around and when I panned my head, the screen was loading square by square. I tried restarting my phone, but didn't help. But it was working just fine the next day.

Gear VR not setup not apearing?

Hey guys,
I just got the gear vr today, and I plugged in my rooted S6 Edge (On a custom rom), and upon plugging in the screen just shows my blank wallpaper along with no setup instructions at all. Is there an apk file I can download somewhere for the vr manager? I realize this is probably due to the custom rom I am on, however I would hate to have just bought a 100 dollar paper weight. Any help / suggestions are appreciated.
EDIT: Just realized the title was messed up, sorry about that.
Quick update, Ive borrowed a friends note 4 and copied all of the apps i think i would need (see screenshot). Unfortunately the screen now comes up black, with an x in the top corner. I now can hear the sound you are supposed to hear when you plug in the vr headset. I've tried installing the default apps in the oculus home setup with the headset disconnected, however they all fail installing after I get done downloading it.

It's probably your kernel. You need a kernel that is permissive, which stock kernel is not. I'm on FireKat (which uses stock kernel), and I have to flash AEL kernel when I want to use the VR.

Screen Tint issue and AOD issue after Oreo update?

I just (excitedly) updated to Oreo, and now I am wishing I had not. I love the new features, but two really irritating issues presented themselves:
1) My screen is not tinted an awful color. It looks almost like my blue light filter is on (but it isn't - when I turn it on it gets HILARIOUSLY bad). Whites are not white. Adaptive mode is the worst, basic mode makes it tolerable but not good at all. My screen looked so much better before.
2) My always on display is wonky. It occasionally is so dim I cannot even see it. Sometimes it is fine, other time it's bad. No rhyme or reason to it (my lighting is the same so it's not adjusting to the environment).
Neither is these things were an issue before. Anyone else experiencing these things? Any idea how to fix either one?
Same issies
Horrible screen tint, opaque orange and the whites are awful. They work fine during initial bootup of the phone, then change. Contacted Verizon and Samsung, they are both aware and no fix as of yet to what the deal is. So do not update your note8, there's absolutely nothing exciting or great with the update. Waited 3+ months for this update, had it on my Z2 force and it was great, ABSOLUTELY blows on the note 8...

Try clearing the cache in recovery
You can do that by turning the phone off
Hold Volume Up+Power+Bixby and wait till the blue screen goes away
Navigate down with the volume keys and select Wipe Cache Partition with the power button.
Select Yes
Select Reboot System Now
If that doesn't help, I would either try a factory reset or flash Oreo with Odin.
I didn't do the OTA, but flashed the ROM with Odin instead and I have zero issues

Update
Did the wipe cache/partition and no luck.
Won't try the FDR option as that was never worked for any issues I've had in the past decsde. Always a waste of time and hassle. Unless that's a guaranteed fix by Samsung or Verizon I will wait for a software patch update or whatever else it is to fix this issue.
OP, did you have blue light filter enabled prior to Oreo update?
Furthermore, it seems to me like Samsung devices prefer having their original Android OS , meaning updates seems to make them not as true and stable as they originally were out of the box. Perhaps another little sly tactic for us users to upgrade hardware yearly.

Yeah something definitely went wrong for OP during install. I would start fresh and reinstall or reset.
I haven't taken the update. But its a new Android version. I personally always factory reset before updating to a new Android base version. I've never had issues on any phone Samsung or not when clearing data first.

I also factory reset with ever major update and never had a problem.
The bluelight filter is off, turning it on makes it way worse. I've never had to do a FDR with any phone for an update for over a decade, but those phones were all Motorola. This is my first Samsung and it's definitely a problem with the software causing this orange effect on all the white portions of the screen. Samsung and Verizon both confirmed this has happened to several so hopefully there'll be a fix soon as this is most annoying.
reset here too. no more issues.
I've always factory reset before taking a major update.
Do you have any substratum themes installed? Substratum seems to be buggy for oreo. I disabled all the them and my lockscreen went back to normal color.
I've never used it downloaded any themes
Clearing Blue Light or Screen Tint issues with Oreo on Samsung S8
My friend had this issue on an S8 after Oreo. It started by dismissing a dialog box when launching Google Play Books then opening a book. The dialog was asking something about Blue Light mode. Dismissing apparently caused a default to Blue Light mode and Always Enable. But, we could not find a way to get back to those settings in Google Play Books. Using the system setting to turn off did not work and turning on made screen colors worse. So, we uninstalled the Google Play Books app, restarted phone. Still bad colors at this point. Next, we re-installed app. After opening app and then selecting a book the same dialog box appeared. We selected Settings this time and turned the slider to OFF for Blue Light mode. Now, the Blue Light mode is off for the app and the rest of the phone screens outside of the app. Everything seems like correct colors again.
Even if you do not use Google Play Books, maybe this process will unstick a setting for you.
I don't use or have never used Google play books. Never seen a prompt like that either

It's funny, I actually factory reset because the cache wipe didn't work. All looked well. Then after the initial setup (with a beautiful white background), my home screen popped up, and the screen immediately got all tinted. Some setting must have restored with my account! So I factory reset AGAIN, didn't import my setting or apps, then redid everything on my phone from scratch. Now it's fine. What a pain!

Thanks for posting this!! I had the same problem and couldn't figure why. After reading this, I went into Google Play Books and simply turned the night light off, and problem solved! It seems the nightlight setting in Google Play Books gets stuck in Oreo and overlays everything.
