IR blaster - Galaxy Tab S General

Hi
I'm trying to use my 10.5's IR blaster with Anymote from the play store. Tried it with my TV and Verizon STB but nothing is working.
Anyone has success with this app?
It's possible I might've over-debloated and frozen something I should not have. Anyone knows which apk is needed for the IR function? I see two things called remote controls and I enabled them but it made no difference.
Thanks

There's an app preinstalled to use ir blaster. I totally forgot the name lol. But its purple

The app is Samsung watchOn

Its smart remote the icon is a round yellow dot with the word peel on it, works fine here
Sent from my SM-T800 using Tapatalk 2

my Peel preinstalled worked well but also my 3rd party apps from Play also work with no issues.

Well it looks like I debloated it into oblivion
I downloaded the peel remote app from the play store and it did not work. Looks like a very slick app though.. I probably disabled or deleted a needed service somewhere.

Remote Viewfinder

I am trying to get the remote viewfinder app provided by Samsung on Google Play Store to work with this camera (linking up to my Galaxy Note II) but it just doesn't work.
Spent some time talking to a tech support guy at Samsung, but although he was friendly, he didn't have any knowledge of this model (!)
Has anyone managed to get this feature working?
Apparently the EK-GCAM100 is not on the list of supported devices. Wait for a bit and the software may be updated. This is for Samsung's lineup of smart cameras(wifi-enabled basic camera) not Galaxy Cameras.

Thanks Adam, I did see them using a Galaxy S3 in the Ads to control the camera, so I guess it's an upcoming feature. Hope it's not too long as this was one of the features I really need.
Glad I'm Not The Only One
I've been trying to figure out how to control the SG Camera with my SGIII as well. Hope this is added to the remote viewfinder app soon.

There is an app called Camera Remote https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.busywww.cameraremote on the Play Store, it does work with this camera but is not wholly reliable and has crashed a couple of times. I was told by Samsung tech support that the official app will support this camera soon though.
Remote Viewfinder feature now available

I too have been trying to find this feature. I purposely bought this camera because of this feature (& others). I recently updated over the air on my camera to Android version 4.1.2 from 4.1.1. Now in the camera app under the share menu, is the 'Remote viewfinder' feature. I select this and it asks me to connect my smartphone to the Wi-Fi hotspot that it's created so it can open the app on my phone. I do this but nothing happens. Any idea's what is wrong? My phone is the Galaxy S3. But atleast the feature IS now on the camera, it just won't work on mine.
I noticed the option appears on the camera since updating the ROM. I tried to get this working with no success. I believe the Remote Viewfinder app that Samsung have in the Play Store needs updating. If we raise a support ticket on their website as I have done they may start looking into it sooner.
I really want this feature badly too.

I've raised a ticket too I'm holding off on buying the camera until I know remote viewfinder will work with my note 2 and the galaxy camera

I just installed the new app on my S3. But the result didn't change.
On the controller, in your case the S3.
I don't have 4.1.2 on my cam yet.

I've upgraded my cam to 4.1.2 and no luck either.
Neither with Samsung Viewfinder app, nor with Samsung Smart Camera app.
Damn Samsung, what's the matter?

any news about this yet ?
I submitted a support ticket to Samsung on their website. They replied quickly stating it had been escalated to the development team responsible for this particular model and would keep me informed. I will update here when I get any further news.

it's weird that Samsung can not find a quick solution to this problem.
Both devices are their production (SIII and GC)
Just found that there is an update avaliable for the 'Remote Viewfinder' app in the Play Store. But in the 'What's New' box it just states: "Improved compatibility for smart phone". Which is rather vague. I updated and I still cannot get it to work. Just thought I'd let you know. Anybody else have anything to add?
Report it!
Anyone wishing to be able to use this feature should head over to Samsung's support pages and add a support ticket. If enough people vent their frustration over this then maybe something will get done. After all, the "Share to Remote Viewfinder" is an option when taking pictures with this camera so it SHOULD work.
I raised the issue and got this reply:
"Thank you for contacting Samsung.
I am sorry your camera is not working with the Remote Viewfinder, I
understand this is frustrating if my colleagues on the phone support
were meant to get back to you.
I have raised the problem with our product specialist who will deal
directly with Samsung HQ on getting this problem solved, he has promised
to get back to me as soon as possible.
I would ask that you be patient with us and email back in approximately
one week so that we can update you on the situation.
I apologise for the inconvenience this has caused."
A week has passed so I will be chasing it up.
So get your support request in too today! .. http://www.samsung.com/uk/support/model/EK-GC100ZWABTU

[Request] Any IR applications

Hay guys
I was wondering if there are any good applications which would make use of the IR blaster on my HTC ONE
for example TV remote control apps
because i searched the net and couldn't find any good app that works with HTC ONE'S IR Blaster
Actually there is a tv remote controll app pre-installed on the htc one.

Yeah, but CRAPPY LOW-LIFE PLASTIC Galaxy S4 has Infrared. We will see all those apps soon. Till then use HTC Infrared app.
Also, anyone knows if we could have IR file transfer again using some mod xD?
Edit: Added some attributes to GalaxyS4.
Anyone successfully program their HTC One to control their Apple TV? Didn't work properly for me. But I did get it to control my Sony TV.

What about the WD TV? I know there is an app but I want to control my TV and WDTV all on the same page. Weird how the market has literally nothing for a device with an IR blaster built in.

I gave up. On the remote and the WD remote.
One day, there will be some unified remote I hope.
IR apps are thin on the ground because Bluetooth pretty much destroyed the need for the blasters (still chuckle thinking back to eldest daughter sitting 2 phones an inch apart then holding her breath though the numerous attempts to share an MP3.)
HTC have brought the blaster back in a way it was really meant to be used, developers will start coding for it (especially as Sammy had to copy them to stay in the game. )

Hmm. I have a WD TV as well. Will try programming it next.
It's probably proprietary but if someone could make an app that pulls in your Logitech Harmony remote info that would be awesome. I know there is one on the Play Store from Harmony, but it requires a separate device (which we don't need since the IR blaster is built in).

In theory you should be able to point any remote at the IR blaster and get the HTC to learn from it. Not saying it actually works (all my kit was defined in the stock database) but it could be worth a try.

Programming for non-listed remotes works fine - I have done it for two unlisted devices without any problem
htc learns but when i try to add remote it obliges me add tv too.
We need an app that can execute macros and one touch commands similar to the Logitech harmony remotes.

Yeah, tried that with an Apple TV remote. Worked for a few buttons, but not for most.
The IR blaster works really well, used it to change a tv in a cafe at lunch today with great success :victory:
Stock app looks really well done (and lists popular shows that are on), but I haven't explored it too much.

The best app for your ONE is back!!

The best app for your HTC ONE has finally returned to the play store!!
Smart IR Remote http://8xvb.qr.ai
No I don't work for them. This app simply blew my mind after trying so many other remote apps on my One. Every other app had such an ugly GUI, but this one is beautiful. I have replaced all my remotes in my home with this one app. It's also useful for trolling at bars.
BTW their support is awesome! They will quickly add your device to the app of its not in there (I did not have this problem), but I can say they respond to emails quick as hell.
Anyways, go check it out! It's a must have app for HTC One owners!

Aside from backing up your remote layout and the automatic volume-lowering-function, what else differentiates this application from the remote application already on your HTC One?
Just curious in case I should switch over.
The TV application is useless, at least for me. My country isn't listed and I couldn't get my TV to work. With this app I configured my 2 TVs at home in seconds, you just have to select the make

The TV app just doesnt allow for much customization of the buttons. In smart ir remote you can also create macros. I have one that turns on/off my tv, audio system and set-top box with one button. Smart remotes are useful too. I can take all the important buttons from multiple remotes and combine it into one remote.

Right now it doenst seem to work with rooted devices, or at least non sense roms like mine (running Beanstalk 4.3.1001). But I emailed the developer and they claimed they will be working on solving this problem, but I was looking at all the functions it had and now I'm SUPER excited to see if they can get it to work, I would love to put this bad boy to work.

Glass Home on Gear with null ROM

Hey folks,
I thought it would be interesting to see whether the Glass Home launcher and its companion apps would work on the Gear - FYI the APKs I'm playing with are the XE7 ones at zhuowei's github site, although I note that Google have now posted the XE11 image at developers.google.com/glass/tools-downloads/system
I was pleasantly surprised to find that the launcher loaded up, recognised my "ok glass" voice command, and managed to go off and do the right thing when I asked it to "google how tall is the eiffel tower?"
However it seems to be unhappy about a few things (lots of FCs) - in particular the lack of WiFi on the Gear, believing that the device is offline even when it's actually tethered to my phone via Bluetooth, and the camera didn't work for me.
Anyone else got "Glass on Gear" experiences to share?
Cheers,
Martin
Good idea. Will be interesting to find out what needs to done
I do however feel my watch is a lot more useful than Glass (apart from lack of gps/wifi)
Provide some links I want to see this launcher etc.
Sorry, I'm a newbie so my ability to post links is somewhat limited. Let's see if this works... github.com/zhuowei/Xenologer
I think it's going to be a great way of getting a forward look at what to expect with Glass - and the Nexus watch And heck, we may well have the proper Glass SDK before Samsung release one for the Gear...
The UI is reasonably navigable using voice and swiping the touch screen. The Glass fonts work well on the small screen size, unlike say stock Android apps running under Nova or the Google Experience Launcher. Glass Home doesn't know about your non-Glass apps, though, which is understandable if a little disappointing.

Contact handling on glass is weird. You need contacts in your gmail account, then need to add individual contact to glass manually via app/website

Oh.. Yikes.

I'm working on poking through the Glass launcher and companion files to see if I can find anything. I tried to change the DPI so all of the text fits on the display because it cuts off most of the text, but it doesn't seem to cooperate.

The idea is excellent, although there's other factors to consider.. tethering always being active is going to be a battery drainer, along with the launcher constantly listening for commands..
Interesting thread... Looking forward to more updates on this... If I can get Google Now to work on this device paired without rooting the phone, Google Glass sounds pretty darn cool

It's also a bit clunky in that you have to swipe down to go back to the "ok glass" prompt, unless there is a voice shortcut that I've missed. It would be great to go totally handsfree with this, but shaking your wrist doesn't have an analogous effect to nodding your head when wearing Glass.
Oh, and the Bluetooth tethering is a bit flaky and tends to come unstuck after you have done three or four searches - going to look into the automatic reconnection thread when I get a few spare cycles

You can run the Google Experience Launcher from Kit-Kat, which will give you the "leftmost home screen is Google Now" feature. If you choose US language and download the offline speech recognition pack then you should find that the mic is permanently active too

Nice work!
The only way to go back using glass is to swipe down
Sounds like motion sensors are handled differently on each device (possibly Samsung propriety on the gear?)
What settings are shown in the settings screen? Is it only 'google' phrase that works? I think take picture and record are default on glass without need for app. Contact related stuff requires adding manually via app

If I can't use Gear Manager, what are my options?

Before coming to the N6 I was a Samsung owner (Note 3 last device) and had Gear, Gear 2, and Gear S...Gear S is only one now. I have looked and looked and seems with LP none of the manual ways get watch to work will work on N6... For me I don't need all the watch features on the Gear S to work I just like jogging with it. GPS with Endomondo and just skip tracks with Pandora all I want... wish just BT alone would get it not sure is Gear app is needed to make the marriage...just curious if anyone here with a Gear watch had any luck with a skeleton setup?
Thx
BTW - I have a Moto360 but the Gear S is far better for workout and jogging with the larger screen, working with music don't like using the Moto
