At this time you can't do either. Sunshine is the only way you could unlock your bootloader.... But it can't temporarily root 4.4.4 at the moment, which it needs to do to work.
Hopefully Sunshine will work on 4.4.4 some time, then you could unlock.
Sorry!

I bought a att n3 set up for straight talk and I want to downgrade to 4.4.2 so I can root and flash a rom.
I'm unfamiliar with the locked bootloader as I've been using sprint for a long time, when I downgrade is there any chance I'll lose the Sim unlock?
Any other issues I need to look out for?
Thanks in advance

This subforum is close to dead or people just ignore you at times. You can odin back to 4.4.2 NC2 and don't worry about sim unlock. No need to unlock it cause straight talk runs on att network, just change apn settings to straighttalk's.
I need link to download towelroot for my moto x
is this root working with
XT1052 KXA21.12-L1.26 Asian retail
You need to be on Android version 4.4.3 or lower for this method to work. https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=95747613655042336
If you are on Android version 4.4.4 you can't root. Unless you have an unlocked boot loader.

Just wondering, has anyone managed to get lollipop installed on a UK XT1068
WITHOUT unlocking your boot loader? I have tried the Indian OTA, but it refuses to install in recovery mode. I don't really want to unlock by boot loader,as I still want to have my warranty.
Thanks for the help!

If I do flash this and upgrade to lollipop, can I change back to uk version at a later time, or am I stuck on it? I don't want to be stuck on this version forever!

Without unlocking bootloader you can't downgrade to 4.4.4, but flashing another region version with same system version likely no problem
Yes you can, but you need to unlock bootloader

Is there a way to root the at&t xt1097 variant? I don't care about the boot loader I just want TiBu and my xposed again. Any info or help would be appreciated!
Nope. Only the versions with unlockable bootloaders can be rooted. If you are within your return window, I'd suggest returning it and picking up the Pure edition instead. I'm using the Pure on AT&T without any issues, and I'm happily unlocked and rooted.

Any luck with root using chainfire's autoroot for the at&t model? My moto x 2014 is arriving in a week and It would be a bummer if I can't root it. I came from using a nexus 5 with root and custm ROM installed.

Nope, still no root. If root is that important, then return the one that's coming and buy a Pure edition. That's what I have and it works great on AT&T. And I'm unlocked and rooted
Hey guys. I just got this mobile (verizon) a week ago. Its not a Dev edition.
It keeps prompting me to update to lollipop but I wanted to unlock its bootloader first. Since everyone has been telling me that its impossible, should I wait in case a procedure comes up or should I update it to lollipop?
Yes.
What firmware version are you on now? Anything below 4.4.4 can be unlocked.
