I can't even look at mine they are so bright. In fact I just looked at them for less than a second and now I see spots as I'm typing this. There might be something wrong with your unit.

Mine aren't bright either. I compared to my N4 and the N4 is clearly brighter, despite having 1 led vs 2. I don't mind the amber tint. It helps take better photos because the color temperature more closely matches the indoor lighting conditions where you're likely to use the flash.

I also feel that the Nexus flashlight isn't as bright as it could be. However, the light on my last phone was similar, and I installed an app that increased the brightness for it. It worked great, but the LED ran much hotter after that.
I suspect that the reasoning for the dimmer flashlight is to not prematurely wear out the LEDs, or degrade their performance when they're needed for camera flash.
When taking photos, the flash output is quite surprising. I don't think it's a hardware issue, rather intentional software programming that runs the flashlight at a dimmer output. As a quick flashlight, I find the N6's lights adequate.

Light sensor

Hi,
According the the literature the light sensor adjusts the backlight according the the ambient light available.
Is it just me but this doesn't seem to be working and yes 'Auto adjust backlight' is checked.
Regards.
I can actively see this working all the time, if you happen to hold your hand over a bit of the screen you'll notice it slightly fade. I'ts not a major difference but it's def there.

On my TD2 it is working, but the change in backlight are not so obvious, you have to pay attention to see it: the change is not instantaneous, it is gradual (over a 0.5s time maybe), and it does not change much (not as much as the powersaving no-activity backlight level, which is much lower).
The best way I have found to check if it work is to be in a moderately lit room, and cover/nucover the light sensor with your finger. You should be able to notice the small change in backlight level as you cover/uncover the sensor....
BTW, anyone knows if it is possible to tune the backlight level/ ambiant light function? I would like to keep the auto-adjust, but lower the backlight level when it is completely dark to the minimal setting (or even lower), similar to the powersaving level I was talking about above.
This very low level is not nice for watching movies or pictures (it skew the color rendering because white is not white anymore, it is yellowish grey), but I find it ideal for ebook reading in the dark (it saes the battery, it is not tiring for the eye, and it is not bothering for the sleeping beauty sharing my bed when I read late ;-) )

When I move around (indoor/outdoor), the screen brightness is very consistant (and colors are brilliant too), I persume the light sensor worked
but TD2 did not respond to my random playing of the sensor.. the finger trick did not work for me, but i don't care

Maybe a stupid question...but maybe you mistake the LED for the light sensor.
The indicator led is on the left of the speaker grid, the light sensor on the right...if you have ticked automatic in the backlight intensity (parameter/more/alimentatation section, backlight subsection), you should definitely see a change if you are under bright light and cover/uncover the light sensor just right of the speaker grid.
BTW, thanks fort the g-light application, it is working nicely!
Could even save battery, although maybe this is mitigated by having one more background process running for polling the light sensor data...

HTC one camera has blue-ish tint

So I bought a HTC one 2 months ago (black) and the camera is...amazing. but the camera seems to be outside in natural lighting and indoors with natural lighting. When there's no natural lighting the camera has a blue hue to it can you help me? Or is everyones one like this? Also I'm not rooted I have my HTC sensation xe for that. As you can see in the pictures the blacks empathise lots of blue.

Two words my friend.
DE FECTIVE.
Get it replaced before the 14 day grace period expires. Or you'll have to deal with...
HTC... :shudder:
If you manually set the ISO speed to 400 or less, the blue should go away. Unfortunately that means you won't get the amazing low light ability. My One is much worse. It has a pattern that's visible whenever it's in low light. Not really a pattern actually but more like a macro of a tabletop or something, in the blue hue like yours, or sometimes in purple. It's very visible in every low light shot I take with Auto ISO. It goes away if I kill the low light capabilities by selecting a slower ISO, 100 or 200 looks best. It's not unusual for a ridiculous ISO speed like 1600 to exhibit both color shift and lots of noise, like your photos.
If you wonder how bad it is on yours, lay the phone on a table on its back with the camera on. The screen should show you any color shift or noise/patterns that your phone's sensor is causing. Make sure you have it on Auto ISO before you do this.
I suspect it's a problem for most HTC One's. Maybe even all of them. If so, it's not a defect but it is an unfortunate side effect of HTC's quest for the best low light ability.
I also hope the next software update fixes it.
edited to add: This image is an example of what my sensor looks like, I laid the phone on its back and snapped the shutter. This shows up in every photo I take on the auto setting in a low light situation overlayed on the photo itself. I still think it's an amazing camera that takes great pictures in most lighting conditions, just not low light or harsh sunlight in my case
.
Here's a photo showing the problem on a picture.

Just to show that the camera is capable of making great images, here's the same bird, same location, same phone/camera, but better light. This photo is at ISO 320, on Auto. The purple ones above are around ISO 1600, also on Auto.
This is how mine looks when layed flat

screen not so bright on high

So I noticed that the screen isn't as bright as my Note 4 on high brightness , however when I have it set to auto and I'm outdoors it's night and day difference. It's much brighter under auto, even makes my note 4 (on high) seem like it's on medium brightness . Does anyone else notice this? Anyway to make it bright like this all the time? Because full manual brightness seems like medium brightness compared to other phones. A bit disappointed

That was already discussed in many reviews

Correct.
Manual brightness only goes to something like 450 brightness, but auto can go to 750.
No way to change that. Was mentioned in multiple reviews.
I was at the beach today and everytime I'd look at my screen it would start out really bright and then dim to like 90%. I wouldn't be able to get it bright until I locked it again. It was very annoying.
There is an issue with the auto bright on the Edge. Not sure if it is the same on plain S6 though.
There is? Mine seems to work as I would expect...
Yeah turn auto off and the phone will still dim in dark rooms and bright up if you shine a light into it. Also the Edge does not appear to be as bright at max as the standard S6.

Notification light brightness

Hello,
I'm new to Huawei and one thing I noticed about my P10 is the very faint notification light. From a little distance it is very hard to notice.
I've tried installing Lights Manager, but changing the brightness there doesn't seem to do anything.
Does anyone have a way of increasing the brightness of the notification light on the P10?
Thx
I just got the phone and Yes my notification LED is SO DIM AND USELESS. I tried to use light manager and seems like the brightness is already the highest. Will pop by the shop in the weekend to see if it's my set problem or all sets are like that.

Mine is faint too. Or at least I find it that way coming from Sony Xperia phones where the notification LED was very bright and you can see it even on sunlight... Sony also used different colors for different notifications - here is green only unfortunately... Hope Huawei fix this in some future updates....

Hi all,
actually it has colors too. On Whatsapp, if you choose white or blue the notification light will change to that color. Problem is that there is no way to configure light colors for the rest of notifications, unless you install some notification light management app which I had once in a previous phone.
About the intensity, yes, it's a bit faint. But, personally I prefer it against Samsungs that I owned previously in which notification lights were so bright that at nights it illuminated my room when sleeping (and if it blinked, even worse!).
Leandro
useless tiny notification on LED. This is factory dumb design.
I actually like the brightness. Coming from a N5 where the LED was brightening up the whole room when someone sent you a message at night, the p10s subtle notification is much better.

Question Tab S8 LCD blue light filter / eye care mode

Hello!
Do you also suffer from the dumb eye care / low blue light filter on the Tab S8 with LCD?
Ist there any option out there with root to change the LCD calibration and reduce the blue color channel?
Or to enable the stock android night light mode?
See also https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...t-blue-light-filter-no-root-required.4182449/
Welcome to XDA
Don't go too nuts over blue light. I don't use night mode anymore on my N10+, the color rendering degradation is annoying.
Increase room ambient light levels and manually adjust brightness to the minimum level needed instead.
Take a break every few minutes to look at a distance object.
You will adjust to the low blue light mode and forget about the orange tint if you enable it for all your devices Android, Windows, ... And the low blue light mode really helps to relax the eyes.
For my liking the Tab S8 LCD color temperature is far too cold. And there is no way to adjust it like you can do on the S22 in the display settings (even with no blue light filter enabled).
The low blue light mode on the S22 and Windows behaves identical and they can be adjusted to match. You won't loose by far so much image quality like on the Tab S7/8.
The correct way is to adjust the color channel equalizer of the display/gpu and not putting a transparent orange overlay on top of everything.
This stupid orange overlay is by far not the same like the real low blue light mode.
Even if you enable it at 75% the whites are still not warm and the blacks get brown so that there is no contrast left.
And at 25% you won't notice that it is enabled but also dulls the image.

Yeap.
Again I wouldn't even bother with trying to pursue this... results will be predictably suboptimal.
