Hello all. I just got my new L90, Android 4.4.2, Kernel 3.4.0 +, V10a.
I inserted the sd card i had in my former LG L9 P768, and now the message pops frequenty up " The micro sd card was suddendly removed, please deactivate the card before removing" then the card is mounted again. The card has a second ext2 partition, which i used in my older phone for LinktoSD.
Any hints? Thanks for your help.
Hi. Delete everything few times. It should help.
1. Tap System settings.
2. Scroll down to General,' and then tap Storage.
3. Tap Erase SD card.
4. Tap Erase SD card again.
5. Tap Erase everything to confirm.
In the beginning I also had this problem (with my previous sd card), it was a bad contact. I putted a pice of paper between, problem solved.
(also did the tips above)
Problem solved
Thanks for you help. The problem was that the second partition on my SD was ext2, and maybe corrupted, who knows...
After formatting the second partition to FAT the card has up to now remained mounted and i had no more problems. Even the battery lasts longer now.

Hello
Ever since i first got this phone, i have had some sdcard issues.
Sometimes the external card is not present, and i must remove the backplate and remove / insert thecard again for it to show up.
I know other who had this also, but never heard about a sollution.
Have YOU?
You don't have to remove the backover and reinsert it.
You can mount the micro-sd via "Settings" -> "SD card & phone storage" -> "Mount External SD card".
mount sd card in settting or if that does not work , reboot phone and card will be found

Actually not. Normaly, if there was no problem, that‘s what i would do.
Now the only thing i can do is:
1. Remove the card and insert it (no reboot needed)
Or
2. Shutdown the phone completely (not reboot) and start up again.

I have exactly the same problem... maybe 3 or 4 times so far... including this morning.
Except, this morning my _ExternalSD/ had 1 dir (DCIM - empty) and 1 file (mine) and nothing else! I put it in a card reader and everything was there, put it back in my phone and everything was there. I was a little scared!
The same problem here with a Kingston cat. 4 16Gb card. Sometimes after restarting the phone, it can't see my card and I have to shutdown the phone and reinsert the card to work again. Any clues?
HI!
I have this problem that when I turn on the file sharing, the computer shows only internal memory card and not the external. Because the phone itself recognizes the external card I have tried to unmount and mount several times without any improvement. I am currently using the latest CM7 nightly, but the problem seemes to have started after I changed the card from 4gb to 16 gb. Any ideas?
EDIT: Erasing sd card from the phones menu helped to solve the problem.
Go Setting>Storage and remount your sd card and try???
I've done that several times....no help... android system accesses the card without problems...music, pics etc.
Did you physically remove your card and reinsert it, or just software remount?
Have you tried the card directly in your computer?
Have a look in windows device manager and see if it reports any problems. (right
click my computer and select manage)
I have tried it all and everything is ok with the sd card itself (I copied recent nightly from the computer on the sd card) also recovery recognizes is... there are also no problems in device manager...
Try to put on debugging mode. And try it with debugging mode on.
If the debugging mode is on try to take it off.
Regards Kali
I tried that also and nothing changed.... I have a feeling that it is somehow attached to me using mybackup pro... I restored application apk and data from another phone to this one and It seems that usually the application data should go to internal memory card. In this case it is on external card... so i believe that somehow the programs are still using the card when connected and do not allow phone to share it out... It's just a guess though...
EDIT: so I think the solution is to wipe everything and start all over again
So I fresh installed Rom and wiped everything and the problem still exist... still can see files with file managers in phone and when connected to computer, autorun shows only internal card...
Edit: I tried now 2gb sized sdcard and it works perfectly... the problem is with 16gb card.
Weird. Did you try another USB-port?
I tried different USB-s now and still same I found out that when I connect the phone, under my computer appears two removable disks.... if I turn on the usb connection, only one transforms to usable removable disk (internal) and the other one asks to insert the removable disk. I used the same sd card on my HTC desire with CM nightlies and it worked perfectly... could it be CM-s bug?
Sorry to ask (maby the obvious)
On Your phone.. using your filemanager (Root explorer astro or what-ever..)
Browse to sdcard
Do you have a folder called _externalSD?
On this phone, for some reason the external SD is not mounted under./ but as i said under ./sdcard/ (i.e its mounted under the internal SD card..)
Just a thought
Where the different cards are mounted doesn't make any difference. And as he said, it works with other cards (2GB and 4GB).
CyanogenMOD mounts internal card as /mnt/emmc, and external card as /mnt/sdcard by default.
When turning on USB storage, both cards should be unmounted and shared over USB.
Hi, I had the same problem with mine, and as you said in one of your previous posts, I had to do a format through the phone and as soon as I did that I was good to go.
I did use the same memory card in my old hero so this might have something to do with it... I'm not sure.
By formatting do you mean from the menu Erase SD card? On the desire I actually had the formatting request from the computer, but there was another problem (some of the rom's files were on the sdcards ext or something and I had no access to the card from the USB).... kind of a similar problem if I think back now but after changing to CM, the problem disappeared.
I forgot to mention I am running completely stock rom and unrooted (for the time being) and there is just an option under sd card & phone storage setting to format external sd card
After erasing the sd card from the phone, the computer recognized it i'm currently copying stuff back and i'm pretty sure it does not affect the recognition
I faced the same problem. I had Swapper2 on my NC, and after I uninstalled it (and cleared the data of Swapper2, just in case) everything went to normal back again.
^ a solution.
[Q] Media Scanner causing phone to continually reboot?
A weird issue manifested on my phone today ... the phone started, upon boot up, to spontaneously reboot. It would boot up within 30s, at which point I unlock it an pulldown the notifications screen (to see what was going on).
I saw several instances of "media scanner running" occurring - over the course of various trials I would see the following messages alternate on the top status bar.
Media scanner running... (system storage)
Media scanner running... (SD card)
Media scanner running.... (USB storage)
Media scanning completed
...while below in the notification areas I'd see the "Media scanning", "Media scanning...USB storage" etc messages periodically appear.
The phone would first lockup, then reboot perhaps 3 out of every 4 startups. Several of those times the last message I saw prior to the lockup was Media scanner running.... (USB storage).
I pulled out the 32FB Sandisk SD card, then tried booting the phone several times, and this time no issue - booted up fine, no lockups nor auto-reboots. Note though that I've had the SD card installed for over a year, and the problem only cropped up today.
Same problem on Samsung Galaxy Ace
I'm experiencing the exactly same problem on my rooted Samsung Galaxy Ace (Gingerbread 2.3.6).
Reboots with SD card mounted and working fine with SD card unmounted.
I'm using Link2SD with a 2nd ext2 partition, and when SD card is unmounted, all Linked apps work perfectly fine.
I've tried removing and re-inserting SD card and also recreating mount scripts to no use.
What might be the possible causes of this problem???
I can't afford formatting the SD card as yet, as I'm a little short on disk space. I've tried mounting the card on my PC and run chkdsk, but found no errors.
Is this problem related to Link2SD???
Please :fingers-crossed: tell me if there's any other solution other than killing my phone i.e. wiping all data.
PLEASE HELP :silly:

I really find this odd. When you link an app using Link2SD, all the app data is linked to ext partition of your SD card. If all went along right, then once you unmount your SD card, all linked apps shouldn't work anymore. This is because the ext partition is no longer available which contains the app data and files. I don't know why all of your linked app works fine. I completely agree with @aditya rathee. The problem could be with your SD card. Try to restart the phone with another working SD card and post the result.

When you format your SD card, only the data in SD card is formatted while data in the ext2 partition is still left behind. If you want to format your ext2 partition, you can do that too. To do that, goto CWM Recoverymod, choose "mounts and storage">format /sdcard (To format just SD card data) and/or format /sd-ext (To format ext partition data). Use Titanium Backup app to take backup of all the installed app data. This data is backed-up to your SD card, so make sure to copy it to other storage media before you format your SD card. Once you have finished the backup, format both SD card and SD-ext, then copy the backup data back to SD card, reinstall Titanium Backup and Link2SD, run Link2SD to link your ext partition, and finally run Titanium Backup to restore all the previously installed app with data and link the apps back with Link2SD. Hope I helped
@mahithm, I formatted my SD card, but the problem is still there. I've ascertained the problem is with my memory card. I scanned it with my anti-virus, check for any disk errors and ran a surface test with Hard disk sentinal. No problems were identified.
One thing's for sure, the apps on my second partition are working fine even the one's who's apk+dex+data are linked.
If I unmount my SD card, the phone worked an whole day without issues. As soon I mounted it, Media Scanner starts and the phone reboots.
My post on the Link2SD thread hasn't got any responses.
I can access all content from my PC (on my FAT32 partition i.e.)
Please Help!

Can you try again with an another working SD Card? If the problem still persists, I suggest you reinstall this rom. BTW what rom are you using now? Sometimes accidently deleting a system file could cause such errors. If the problem is with your Link2SD, then I suggest using CronMod script to increase your internal memory. All it needs is a rooted phone and an ext partition. Before flashing the script from the CWM recoverymod, don't forget to format your ext partition. Here is the link,
CronMod-INT2EXT
Do post your result. Hope I Helped

1. A blank SD card doesn't bootloop.
2. My current SD card when formatted and blank doesn't reboot automatically.
3. When I delete .android_secure folder from SD card, phone works fine.
4. I don't think I deliberately deleted any system files.
5. I haven't changed the ROM. It's the stock ROM of Galaxy Ace.
6. Is it possible that some .asec is interfering with some system file
7. I have ruled out Link2SD as the cause, even deleting the app didn't make a difference.
Fully, this helps you to help he out further.
Thanks!

Can you try reinstalling the stock rom? Don't forget to Wipe data/ fatcory reset, Wipe cache partitions, Mount and Storage> Format /system, Wipe Dalvik cache and Wipe battery stats from CWM Recoverymod before you flash stock rom through odin. Also format both SDcard and ext partition. Use Titanium Backup to take backup of all the application data. Don't install Link2SD and lets see if the problem still persists. Do post the result. Yesterday my wife's GT-I9070 (CoCore r9 kernel, TWRP, stock JB) /ExtSdCard contents suddently disappeared.
ES File Explorer shows that the microSD card (SanDisk 32 GB) still has all of its content. No files/dirs listed, but space is partially occupied.
In fact, if I reboot the phone, card content reappears. But after some time (about 6 or 8 hours) it disappears again. A filesystem mount problem?
I was thinking about:
1) a complete backup of the SD memory
2) a full format of the SD using the phone
3) a restore of data.
Any other suggestion?
Thanks,
Leonardo.

I had SD card unmounting problem on CoCore too. Mount it in settings again, and just in case backup it on PC (in case that the problem is faulty SD card).
Possible solution: create init.d script with command to mount SD card on reboot (it happen to me only on a reboot) or simply do it manually in the settings.
I think that the culprit is microSD card, not the kernel, because phone was running flawlessly with CoCore r9 since last August. Until yesterday.
First I removed card from phone (after two unsuccessful safe removal procedures).
I formatted the card on a Windows system (default FAT32 format). First try with default O.S. format procedure (right mouse key > format...) was unsuccessful ("could not complete formatting" message), so I used another tool (MiniTool Partition Wizard) and formatted it (NTFS filesystem).
Then I reformatted the card with Windows (FAT32), and all went O.K.
To be sure, I mounted card into phone and formatted it again.
Unmounted, connected to PC. I restored all files. Reconnected to phone, all seems to work. Rebooted phone several times without issues.
init.d script seems to be useless for my issue, because SD contents were disappearing not at reboot, but after a couple of minutes since last startup.
Finger crossed...
