I'm finding it somewhat impossible to install a custom ROM on this currently useless device.
It is a Kindle Fire HD 7" (not the new HDX)
Installing Kindle Fire HD 7" 2nd-Bootloader + TWRP Complete Tutorial
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2271909
- Already tried it and the tablet goes into a bootloop once I restart, have to use factory cable to restore, apparently it doesn't work if your 7.30 or above
- Kindle Fire First Aid
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2096888
I tried this to downgrade it to 7.2.1 but once completed the tablet said it cant boot and has to do a restore, then it goes back to 7.30. There is a 7.2.3 option too but I never tried it.
I don't know what to do all I want is to get rid of this stupid crap rom but if I can't I'll just have to use a launcher... any ideas?
The first method works... You just have to put the ROM and corresponding gapps onto your sdcard before hand or it will be stuck boot looping into twrp. If it doesn't automatically go into twrp but you still have the blue logo, just hold power up when you power the kindle on while the logo is orange and usually by the time it turns blue you can let go and it will go into twrp.

The first method doesn't work man. The blue logo never comes up just boot loops the kindle fire logo. I download FireFlash and move the freedom img and twrp onto my kindle sd and plug it right into fireflash and reboot, then it just boot loops.
Alright I found out and installed CM10.2 but my computer does not recognize it anymore, it says MTP USB DEVICE but does not appear in My Computer.

Yea, the method works as you can see. Try removing the old driver and let windows find the new one.

Yeah the old driver was Kindle. So I uninstalled it and now it comes up as MTP USB DEVICE after I select Media Device from USB computer connections on the tablet. Still not recognized in my computer... sigh. I want it to appear as a Mass storage device so I can transfer files. On Linux I get Unable to open MTP device '[usb:001,001]' when trying to open it.d
Now when I boot into TWRP, device manager shows Kindle Fire -> Android Composite ADB Interface but still doesnt appear in My Computer.
Android composite isn't meant for browsing, its meant for using adb commands. If you uninstalled the MTP device on windows and let it search for a new driver when u refresh devices, it should be viewable, also what distro and version of Linux are you on, because some handle mtp better than others.

I had rooted my Kindle Fire to CM10.1 a few months ago and I decided that I wanted to change the ROM. I went into TWRP to install the ROM I downloaded and then I (stupidly) wipe the device's internal storage. Thus I was stuck in TWRP and without an OS. Stupidly, I rebooted the device even though I was without an OS. So now, the device is stuck at the blue Kindle Fire logo(CM10.1 boot logo). How can I fix this KFHD 7?

If you can boot into TWRP, go to "Mount" and select USB storage. You should be able to then push a ROM to it over ADB.

Either it won't show your Kindle or it detects your Kindle. It can't really be both. If the USB cord fits and it functions it will work just fine. Try the cord on your S3 and if it works, it's not the cord.
Here is the tutorial for pushing onto TWRP http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2459498
The other option is to get a fastboot factory cord (or fastboot tip for regular USB) http://shop.teamblackhat.info/Factory-Adapters-motadapt.htm and use Kindle Fire System Restore Tool. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1951254 this will wipe everything.
I know, I know; It says not to use the Kindle Fire Utility with the 2nd Generation Kindle Fire, but I did. I thought my Kindle Fire was the first generation and as the post says, my Kindle was bricked. However, I can get it into fastboot mode, just cant get it to stay. When I connected it to the PC its fails to install an OMAP4440 driver. It keeps making sounds when you disconnect it and connect your device to the PC. Please help me unbrick my device because I'm a noob to this Kindle business. Thanks for the support!!
A friend ask me to take a look at this kindle fire hd 7. It was stuck in fastboot mode. I ran KFU to change boot, nothing worked. Now the device is stuck with the white Kindle fire logo. The computer doesn't recognize it. I do have the sdk with all drivers including google installed. I also tried running SoupKit in Mint. Both operating systems will not recognize the device. I think its hard bricked. I am just hoping there is a process or new tool that will assist.
Thanks in advance,
Brad

Mine too. I got cocky and tried to sideload 5.1.2 because I thought that since my tablet ran that one time in the past, that it might work. It didn't. All I get is a black screen. When I plug it in, I occasionally see in Device Manager under Ports it will flash MediaTek PreLoader USB VCOM (Android) (COM5). But then it disappears.
Did you ever have any luck unbricking yours?
