[Q] HTC OEM Replacment ? - One (M8) Accessories

Hey Dudes,
I just found a interesting site, while i was searching for a Camera Lens replacment, because my got scratched after my phone felt from my hand
So now i found a website with expensive Oem stuff and i now want to know if this can be real oem stuff? because i never see, that you could just buy oem replacment for a phone. WTF.
Ok now I have another question, i I have a really little scratch on the back of my phone too and now i have the idea of erasing it with a piece of sandpaper. i have the m8 in silver, so it should work theoretically, schouldnt it ?

I assume you meant OEM replacement parts. Yes, everything is possible to get.., except the motherboard itself

Well, nothing is manufactured by "HTC" Everything is outsourced, so these people probably get it from those sources. I've changed the housing on my m7 when I had it, and it was top notch quality. Also, it had similar markings on the inside of the housing, as the origin, which just proves the point.

I am actually looking for the exact same thing. I posted a week ago but got no replies. I don't care about the AT&T logo but I definitely dont want the camera hole. So far all I have found is housings that have the camera hole.

I believe the Keyboard is separate and not part of the Housing. So you can change the Keyboard but not the Housing and Vice Versa.
ok. so do you think the at&t tilt keyboard would fit nicely with this housing?
it should since it's an advantage to having the keyboard not being part of the housing
alright cool. but why so expensive?
it's oem, hard to come by ,custom sized for the device only
do you think it will be worth getting if my case is still in one peice, just beat up?
depends how beat up,if you got cracks, chunks and major chips missing then go for it.pretty hefty chump of change for some plastic,i never had to change my housing but everyone's opinion is different on how they view their damaged casing
yeah. its got dints on the front faceplate. and the battery cover has a clip missing so it slides of easily. also its just flimsy because i am ruff with it when i open it. i want one but not for that price. this seems alittle cheaper. even though it has the camera hole i think ill buy it. thanks for the help.
you're most welcome

[Need] How to change the faceplate of the Magic?

I am so interested to know if someone has guides or videos guidance to change faceplates on the Magic/MyTouch3G.
My girl friend has a black phone and I ordered her a new white housing for the phone from eBay. I received everything including tools but there was no any instructions. I gave a try from what I can see but it was not successful. I even searched on net but no luck yet.
Any comments will be really appreciated.
here's the magic service manual.
it details how to pull apart the phone into it's individual parts (colour pics included)...
http://phandroid.com/htc-magic-manual.pdf
you may or may not need to totally pull it apart just to change the faceplate (i don't know), but it'll still give you a good idea of how it all goes together.

Thanks for information bro.
Actually, I need to give a try and figure out if I could just pull the faceplate along without totally pulling it apart. It will be so painful as I wont even realize if something goes wrong. Damn wish I had some videos on this.
The mytouch is easy to break down but it would have to be totaly taken apart to change out the plastic housing.

Oh that's awesome. I wasn't even LOOKING for this but it's awesome.
Just one problem with that manual, it's for a prototype version of the sapphire which has the hero style buttons on the bottom instead of the Magic ones. Now, I'm not sure if this is the only difference but just bear that in mind.
I have fully disassembled 3 MyTouch phones. Easiest smart phone to break down so far. Just don't drink any cafiene before hand. not diffucult in any way. just needs a steady hand. HOWEVER! If you have never done this kind of thing before you will likely screw something up. I have been tearing electronics down and repairing them for twenty years. The ribbon type cables can be torn VERY easily, one slip with a screw driver can tear into a board and destroy it beyond repair, too much stress removing a fragile screen can break it. The learning procces on this type of stuff is an expensive one. Go VERY slow and be VERY patient.
Very tempted to replace housing on mine, currently have grubby white Voda one and would like black/red HTC one on ebay. However, as poster said before I have little experience in doing this and nervous to do so. Not sure if I am brave enough!
Can anyone confirm whether or not this housing fits the Mytouch 3G?
It looks like it does. (You can usually tell by the camera hole on the back plate, it's higher on MT3G's) but I'm not sure.
Thanks.

I bought the same in white color says with Google in back cover, and it worked perfectly with my Rogers Magic. I think Magic, MyTouch3G all come under G2.
That might be a bad sign, as the rogers magic I believe is the 32a mainboard and the mytouch is the 32b mainboard. But then again, maybe the mainboard version has nothing to do with this. Is there someone out there who knows for sure that can confirm this?
Somebody should make a video of the housing replacement... i have changed some housings but never a touch screen phone... help would be appreciated...
Hell ya.. I was googling it for days 'n weeks. There was no luck so I went looking for phone repair shops. Finally found a chinese store and they did it for me for $20. That is my story.
Any luck with a video for this?

This is really late and all, but I don't think that housing would work with MyTouch3Gs because the spot where you speak is on the opposite side of the MT3G
Oh man...That looked very complicated
So, in order to change the housing, I need to fully torn apart my phone?

Yeah you have to. I would recommend you to give to someone who does phone repairs.
Where did you have it changed? I looked all over pacific mall and no one would do it.

I had the same problem on every phone shop in Pacific Mall. But I finally found a one in the Pacific Mall. Probably they are the only people do housing changes for Magic You got to go the area that has phone parts and repair section.
Enter to the mall from the main entrace and turn right and walk all the way down and then turn left. You can find it somewhere in the middle on your left. Sorry I can not remember the name of the shop.
By the way I had my own housing. I do not know if they carry in stock of those.
Oh man, Ive done some research and found a few local phone repair shop who can replace my housing but they all charges over $50.00 = =..I'm going to do it on my own
Okay... I'm finished.
the overall process only should be taking about 30-45 mins.
just follow the guide from step 1-7, then you can jump to step 29 which is remove the LCM from the plate.
Then put the LCM along with rest of the motherboard (watch out there is 2 parts linked together) into your new plate.
Now, put everything back together.

yes thats what ı need. the plastic insert that is broken
from where ı can find it? since one month I searching for it
This might sound crazy but...Take apart the device. Bust out the broken glass and just put all back together. Get a protective carrying case. Won't be an eyesore anymore and you can quit looking for that little piece.
and Leoni, are you selling the part or just showing off? HA.
Okay I found something that looks like it contains what you need.
I'm thinking you buy it. Remove what you want and sell the rest as is gently used.

Scroll down to where they have the pics in the listing. Second one shows one with glass over camera.
Or what about a dummy phone? They might use the same glass! And you'll have a toy!

beggers cant be choosers
Honestly I think the dummy phone purchase may be your way to go.
You would only be spending about $25-30 USD to have a possible fix.
If this part WERE available, I imagine it costing at least $10-20 USD.
Beggars can be choosers, but you just have less to choose from!
still could not find any seperate insert plastic ):
in fact I have same problem , the first crack appeared after two weeks maybe , then another one after next two weeks , look pretty shattered by now , but surprisingly pics still do come out al right
doesn't really affect the phone , just ruins it visually , and the funny thing is that HTC in the warranty agreement specified already that any external damage to the screen , camera , lens etc. is not covered by the warranty
I wonder if my phone brakes down for a different reason and I send it back , would they void it since I had the camera glass broken , claiming I was handling is roughly

you probably wont find something that small of a part being sold separately, so your best bet is buying the whole case listed before and using the part out of it, or swapping all your stuff over to it. Not expensive but probably all you can hope for unless someone is selling parts off.
broken camera glass
i also broke mine sent it back to htc and for £71.00 inc collection and delivery they replaced it it comes back wiped so back up first
71 pounds for a simple piece of plate-glass that can even be removed and reinstalled without opening the housing? That sounds fairly pricey to me...
And seeing that a lot of people are experiencing the same problem (including myself) wouldn't it be nice if HTC would recognise the design flaw and send out $0.05 pieces of glass to everyone needing one? But knowing HTC that is not gonna happen
I for one am thinking about grinding a thin piece of plexiglass into the right shape and using that. A replacement piece of glass is just going to break again anyway...

Akshay00smart, I'm not sure about the glass part but you can buy a replacement back piece that I think includes the camera glass.
http://stellatech.com/site_stellatech/articles.php?cid=1095
The item number is GH98-16686A,R price is €10.87
I would send the company an email and ask to make sure.

I do have an issue with the scratched camera glass. However, changing the cover won't solve it since the cover doesn't include the glass.
OK,
Here are two possible parts from one website.
https://www.globaldirectparts.com/U...alaxy-S-i9000-Back-Housing-p/smsng6087205.htm
http://www.globaldirectparts.com/Samsung-S-i9000-Camera-Lens-p/smsng6087120.htm
The problem is that the site doesn't sell to individuals, they do wholesale only.
Hope some can point to the right place.
Cheers.

i think a service cetre would replace the glass relatively cheaply and it is something you could ask for a price on over the phone, and they would probably fix while you wait or at most within 1 or 2 days

i know this reply will not benefit the op but just want to keep this on record for someone else who might stuble here from google,
today i removed my old 5230's frame and tried to replace it with i9000's (it was of the same size) but when i tore the piece down, i came to know that the "frame" was attachedc to the body, like this
(the silver covering cane be removed) m talking about the "scratched part".. so no way to remove i shattered it to pieces and kept my old frame on the camera and tried to assemble the device, it dint assemble properly, and thus has a slight opening at the top right side(above the power button)... other things are working fine, the camera is no longer blurry (although i still need to test it in sunlight, will do it tommmo and report back) .. so in short , dont do it unless necessary, replace it with another back body, it'l save your hassle ...

Cracked screen

I recently dropped my Z1 and both the glass and the display are broken. In addition, rear camera stopped working. Did the camera thing happen to anyone with cracked screen? Is it worth repairing or not?
I attached some photos.
Camera thing mine did not happen
I find the camera connector really easy to disconnect soo I think you can try to dissasemble and replug the sensor if that is the case.
And uhh on Ebay you can find glass+lcd together for like 30 usd $ (shipping included) I think it's still reasonable to fix it for that price
But if you want waterproof! Make sure to get a sort of sticker for it!! You need like 3 different ones for the screen. If you are trying to fix the camera, it's 2 kinds. They are usually blue sheets
Mine is broken right now xD I ordered the screen but it did not come yet
btw that's what I bought: http://www.ebay.com/itm/131397630061?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT
