Thought I would start a thread for Apps Wanted, hoping some enterprising devs might see the list and pick some to try. Here is what I am thinking:
- Respond with App Name in the subject to this post
- Provide as much detail as possible here to provide a baseline of what you are looking for
- Add info such as any help you may be able to provide, or if you are willing to offer up cash or other incentives
- When/if there is an app to test you can provide a link
I will make sure to provide a list here of all of app requests so that we have an index file for reference:
- Pebble Smart Start: An app that will allow the user to start their vehicle remotely
- Pebble GeoCache: An app that provides simple geo-cache readout on the Pebble (Lat/Lon)

Love the apps that are already there for navigation and sports links, but would love a basic GPS readout app that shows the following data:
Latitude
Longitude
Altitude
Heading

How about Google Glass App?
Not really a coder myself, but there was a Dailer app, which allowed users to search and call contacts by using T9 typing (with the 3 buttons on the right). I wonder if this would be possible with sending sms and typing with T9( we know Glance allows pre-set messages = so sending messages is possible)
Just a little something i wish was out there.

..or maybe it would just let you pick a top 5 or top 10 numbers to dial? then should be easier to scroll the list and pick the one you want to call
You could check my app - A countdown timer. Also, if anyone knows coding and wants to help me, PM me as i dont have a pebble

A great app would be to be able to have your pebble turn off at scheduled times. May be harder to get it to turn on but at least this would save battery.

I'd love to have an Android/watchapp application which:
Can start/pause/stop MyTracks recording
Shows current time (in "status bar", top of the screen, small), current speed (big), travelled distance (like bike computer)
if possible, shows google maps map on the watch (just a nice-to-have thought)
if possible, longpress up/down could fire watchapp (PebbleDialer)
I'm a software engineer, who never developed for Android or Pebble, but i can contribute any work i can handle .

I have a few ideas for how you can do this...
1. Canvas app - create a calendar on google calendars with just their birthdays. On Canvas, create a watch face with a field that pulls data from a calendar and configure it to only pull from the birthday calendar.
2. Tasker and pebble notifier - with pebble notifier, you can send tasker notifications to your watch. With tasker, you can program it to notify you on certain days which are your friends' birthdays.
Thoughts?

Oi! Where's your phone?
Having lost phones in the past an app to vibrate the pebble if the BT connection drops for longer than a minute (maybe the duration could be configurable) would be useful.
Would probably need alarm style snooze and dismiss options so you could snooze it if you're out of range momentarily and dismiss it until the next reconnect if your phone battery has died or similar.
Something like this was the first thing I thought of when I saw the pebble so I was surprised to not find one already, I've seen a few phone apps doing the reverse and bleeping the phone when out of range but that doesn't help me realise my phone is missing it just annoys the thief into turning off the phone.
I'm not a coder beyond 10 print hello 20 goto 10 but if anyone else thinks something like this would be useful I'd happily beta test.
Thanks

I'd like a better stopwatch/alarm app.. Also a contact app that works better than the current one with the 3 button interface. I'd like to scroll by groups of letters, like top button is a to k, middle is l to s etc.. And then scroll through those letters.
I know this is a long shot, but having a torque plugin would be cool to show 2 or 3 preset dials like engine temp and maf values cause when I'm working on my Audi I like to monitor certain things but don't want to get my phone all greasy.

Yes, this exactly. I got my pebble a few days ago and I've been looking for something like this. There are already apps to ring the phone from the watch and even a notification on your phone if your watch gets disconnected but I would very much like the watch to vibrate if it gets disconnected instead of the phone
Just thought it was a good idea to open a thread with "issues" to be solved or things we want to get working on the Gear. I myself have a thing of two that I want to solve. For this I searched through some threads, saw some people mention the problems but never found a solution (although apparently other people were working on it to).
Because I like to be part of the solution but don't want to reinvent the wheel I thought it is maybe a good idea to sum some things up that need a solution in one thread.
Basic thing that I'm looking for and not sure if it is solved is
enable/disable BT tethering with just one tap (so to speak). Ideally automagically when opening an app that needs an internet connection
(If the problem isn't solved I was thinking to write an app for this)
(Reserved : list with open issues )
Id love someone to be able to rewrite the newest gear manager to work with people not on 4.3.
Or someone to get the things not working on 4.2 like weAther etc.
A native sms app that syncs with the phone properly. or get tablet talk to display names.

Very easy with Tasker & Bluetooth Auto Connect.
Iv set up so if my device is locked & the screen is off for 30 seconds, it will disable bluetooth tethering for battery reasons. Iv also setup so if I slide two fingers up on my Novalauncher homescreen it will enable bluetooth tethering. Alternatively you can also enable a launcher shortcut which will execute the task.
You can also setup so bluetooth tethering will automatically be activated when launching certain applications.
If you need further instructions, dont hesitate. Tasker can be a little intimidating at first if this is your first time using it.
I'd quite like to be able to swipe away notifications, both individually and per app. Currently it's a bit of a hassle..!

I've never used tasker before. Maybe worthwhile to dive into it.
Also played with Bluetooth Auto Connect. I used it to maintain a connection. (But concluded very quickly that that will drain the battery of the Gear like hell LoL). Where do you use Bluetooth Auto Connect for in this scenario? I mean,if I understand you correctly everything can be done with Tasker.

Bluetooth auto connect works as a plugin for tasker also, so you can incorporate bluetooth auto connect functions in your tasks.
You must get tasker, its a device changer.. both phone & gear.

fOmey do i only need tasker on the phone in order to do that? The way i am manually doing it is i first enable tether on the phone ands then dive into the full settings on the Gear.
If the phone stops tethering then the Gear option automatically gets unticked, but it does not work the other way around.
I have tasked installed on both phone and gear. Could you please provide some instructions?
Also, have you checked Atooma? I have it both on the S4 and the Gear and i can do stuff on the phone with three triggers from the watch:
1) Horizontal movement
2) Vertical movement
3) Photo taken
Does tasker integrate with the watch the way Atooma does?
Thanx again for everything you have done.

Functionality improvement - (we just need a piece of software for that) - to display on the GEAR atmospheric pressure, humidity, temperature - all of those sensors are in NOTE3
I am in no way attempting to take credit for this program or any profiles created unless my name is annotated next to a published link. Support these guys buy buying their app(s) as this is a tremendous backend for amazing automation for today and the future.
In an effort to help everyone new to Tasker (and its associated apps like AutoRemote) and its capabilities, I'm starting this thread to list profiles that people are actively using on their gear.
What is Tasker?
Tasker is an application for Android which performs tasks (sets of actions) based on contexts (application, time, date, location, event, gesture) in user-defined profiles or in clickable or timer home screen widgets.
What are some of the things I can use these apps for?
While the number of uses for Tasker is limitless and only supressed by your imagination, here is a list of published tasker profiles that people have created for common yet out of the box thinking type usage: Tasker Profiles
Here are only some of the things you could do with Tasker, it's real power is the flexibility to combine contexts and tasks however you wish.
passcode-lock sensitive applications (e.g. for child safety)
change phone settings by
*application: long screen timeout in a book reader
*time: screen brightness lower in the evening
*location: ringer volume high at the office, turn off ke yguard at home
wake up with a random song from your music collection
Text-to-speech; read out loud: incoming SMS/ phone number, WiFi/Bluetooth status, when it's time for an appointment, when the battery is low etc etc (Android OS 1.6+ only)
launch a music application when your music SD card is inserted, otherwise a file browser
start the day with a particular application showing
change all your home icons and wallpaper every day, or in particular locations
turn the phone upside down to return to the home screen, tilt 90 degrees to the left and back to toggle speakerphone during a call
create a Home widget to
*toggle bluetooth/wifi on/off
*launch wireless settings dialog
*show a menu of tasks to choose
*send an emergency SMS with your GPS location
remap camera etc buttons to other applications, or show a menu of applications and/or actions
zip/unzip application data on the fly when an application is launched/exits
pause music playback while in a particular application, restart on exit
change the Home icon for any application
take a time-lapse photo series (possibly 'secretly')
make a regular backup of a file on the SD card
track your phone location via SMS in case of theft
extend the use of the media button on your headset: take a picture from a distance or go to the previous media track with a long press
record call times and destinations to the SD card
show a popup when an SMS arrives from a particular phone number
setup a birthday SMS to be sent months before it happens so you don't forget
record battery levels over time to a file on SD card
make automatic recordings of what you say during phone calls to SD card
during the night, turn on airplane mode to conserve battery/reduce radiation, but turn it off every 15 minutes to check for SMS/voicemail.
setup a vacation SMS message, with different messages for different callers
launch a music application when headphones are connected

Cool
Here's one that I've been using:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2542050
Recommended companion app: AutoRemote
What we really need is an update to Tasker to allow exporting...
I would love if this thread develops and thank you for starting it...i am trying to learn how to use tasker to get weather widgets to read weather from stock weather widget.....F0mey said you needed SQlite which i have and tasker...but im lost from there
It has taken me the better part of 4 days to get mine set up for voice automation. I know I've barely gotten started but I can now give a voice command to the gear and have it open Pandora and adjust the volumes on the phone. Then pause Pandora and readjust the volumes with another command. Think entering and exiting your car. Having this core structure in place, I think as I move to a full home automation plan, I will be able to integrate it with no problems.
Tasker, Autovoice, and Autoremote are all required. When I get a little more time, I'll try to decompress all that I learned over these 4 days to create a tutorial.
In the meantime, if you search autovoice and autoremote on Youtube, you can find some great assistance. Armando Ferreira has some great tutorials that really helped me get to where I am (and pushing me to where I want to be).
I was hoping someone can help me with what I am trying to do. First I'll explain what I want and then show screen shots of what I tried. So basically I want my weather info to be set for UCCW widgets and it seems u need tasked and sqlite to do so. And no null has sqlite support so I'll show u what I've done.
I know I'm probably totally off but can anyone tell me if I'm close or help

And thanks for the prop
When I double tap Nova, I use AutoVoice recognised Profile on Gear to send an autoremote message to the phone.
When the phone receives the message, it opens my Spotify playlist, and starts playing,
It also uses intents within Spotify to open the now playing window

Any of you tasker experts know how trigger an event on an incoming call on the Gear? I've tried Event --> phone ringing, and it doesn't seem to trigger anything when I get a call. I was thinking maybe there's a way to do it with Intent Received, but I don't know which intent...
I wanted the gear to play a ringtone once when I receive a call (while the gear is set to 'vibrate')
I can achieve this using Autoremote. The phone ringing event works on the phone itself, so I had Autoremote send a message "RING" to the gear, and the gear received this and played the ringtone... it wasn't really a good way to do it, and wasted battery because I had to keep the Autoremote bluetooth listener on.

I just tried dailer ... didn't work Doesn't see like there are any other apps on the tasker app list that would apply to incoming calls. That's why i was thinking there was an intent or something else that could be monitored.
I have a simple one for alerting of Whatsapp messages (got sick of watch constantly alerting on group messages). Essentially it triggers a notification, then hides it
Make sure Tasker is set to send notificiations in Gear Manager
Make sure Tasker is turned on in Accessibility services
Profile: Notification Whatsapp
Cooldown: 5mins
Event: Notification
Owner Application: WhatsApp
Task: WhatsApp Message
1. Notify
Title: Whatsapp
Text: Message Received
Icon: [Can be anything, as doesn't show up anywhere]
2. Wait
Seconds: 5
3. Notify Cancel
Title: whatsApp
Further ideas:
- Display content (requires sqlite3)
- Only display for group chats
- Repeat alerts

A little confused myself. One part says Bluetooth supported and other part acts like both devices need Internet connection as in Gear tethered which drains much more battery on the gear.
I'm not interested in the actual "Notifications" as Gear Manager does this fine for me, otherwise, the other functions listed, GPS, battery status on other device, ect.. Yes, I would be interested but still confused as to my first comment/paragraph above as to how this works.
The internet connection "requirement" is for those smartwatches that do not have working BT, like every one of the Umeox x201 based smartwatches. The internet connection is also for doing things over long distances (think miles).
It does more than just notifications. I'm running Null and have been placing calls and sending texts using the Gear and leaving my Nexus One in my pocket, or the other room, the whole time.

Ok have it installed on my S4. Problem. Can't get it on the Gear. In the Play Store it says not compatible with (gear) device so I can't use chrome extensions downloader either for some reason. And I'm tethered to the gear to access internet thru playstore directly and it's not listing on the gear to download???
Disregard, I got it downloading now with Chrome extensions, will transfer to gear and give it a whirl shortly.
Ok, I set everything up. Selected BT for connection on phone side's app. There is so setting for this on Gear Side's app. Entered devices names, ect... all it does is sit on phone side saying "Connecting". None of the features are doing anything.

this is for using without BT connection (for smartwatches that don't have bluetooth), it's not needed for direct bt connection.

you need to select BT on both the watch and the phone, then it will connect

On the Gear, the settings did not have a place to set a connection type unlike the phone's settings with the app. It started off with email. I even tried to scroll up and down and look all over for the settings for connection on the gear and it certainly wasn't there, at least for me.
i have uploaded the apk in download section as Gear might have difficulties getting it from playstore

Hold the phone! Literally , lol. I just uninstalled from gear and re-installed from the one you posted here in downloads and now I have the connection settings on gear. Now to re-install on phone side and go from there. :victory:
Update: Blah, now when I either set bluetooth on Gear or Phone, I get a force close on each device.

Great !
Strange thing going on right now. On gear I pressed Battery Icon to get the info from phone and it says uptop that it's connected to my phone but nothing is happening after "message sent" dialogue. So I opened into the App on phone side and it's sitting up top saying "connecting...." forever.
Update: Went in on phone side and "Force Closed" the app in app settings. Reloaded it and it connected right up. Must be a quirk or something...

Hi
This looks promising but i have a few issues and questions
First of all the App keeps Force closing on the watch (i'm running NUll_23)
but i have been able to connect it for a short while and can get SMS messages and the watch vibrates but the screen does not light up
What i wondered is that i want to replace the Samsung Notification system completely as i want to see more of the notification
on the screen than just a small excerpt, especially with Gmail and Email
do you think your app be able to do that down the line
thanks

*Auto Lock*
In virtual leash feature, you can now enable "Auto Lock" feature which will set a password on your phone if the link is broken.
It's a low level action on the phone, so you'll be asked to enable Admin rights to the app.
You will be able to enable or not the broken virtual leash notification.
Hello, guys.
I am experiencing one problem with my HTC 8X with WP8. It seems that my GPS coordinates can only be used by one app. When I try to use 2 apps for my track logging - (like CycleMaster etc.), only one can create gpx file with the GPS data, another app returns the empty track data. When I use one tracking app, it works well but while I am taking photos on my route, the camera app cannot fill GPS coordinates in a file/picture attributes.
Is it a problem of WP8 or HTC 8X? Is there any way to bypass the issue?
Many thanks in advance!
The inability to run two background GPS apps at once (like a track logger + Here Drive) is a platform limitation to keep battery life sane. The thing of not being able to get geotagging in your photos while using a tracking app is very weird though. Either HTC-specific or possibly just an issue with your phone would be my guess...?
