Ok i bought this z3 compact today and really want to remove all the bloatware which comes pre installed however my rooting status is the following Bootloader unlock allowed: No
What can i do to root my phone, i searched around a bit and all i can find are the tutorials to do this with the Bootloader unlock allowed: Yes
i dont really care about the DRM camera problem as i use the camera very little and have no problems with unlocking the bootloader but i cant seem to find info on how to do this with the " Bootloader unlock allowed: No" status .
any help is greatly appreciated.
Z3 Compact Model: D5803
At the moment there is currently no root solution for locked bootloaders unfortunately, a bounty thread has been created here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/z3-compact/general/bounty-root-unlocking-bootloader-method-t2940539
Where did you buy the phone? Is it possible to return for a refund and find a retailer that sells unlockable models?
On the other hand, bloatware can be removed via ADB on unrooted devices. Thread in Z3C android development section
O2 store, oh well happy enough to remove the bloat ware as mentioned above.
Thanks for the swift reply guys really apreciate it.
Stay classy.
I'm not really sure, but maybe you can do that by installing an other stock Romney using flashtool or the pc companion or Emma if you have an operator customized phone, that maybe why it is locked

Just received the XSP as an upgrade on T-Mobile UK and was disappointed to discover via the service menu that the bootloader is unlockable. Forgive me for asking but does this mean that there is absolutely no chance that at any point in the future I will be able to unlock it? I would like to use custom roms and want to know if I kight as well look for a new phone. This was never a problem on my old Optimus Black.
Thanks in advance.

Praise the (Doom)Lord! Will this allow us to unlock the boot then andflash custom roms?
Just to make it clear bootloader is locked this means no custom kernel which might mean custom ROMs are out ie. Cm,akop,PAC etc
You will be able to root using doomlord exploit and in time will get cwm for locked bootloader so we be able to use modded stock ROMs.
As it stands only root is available for locked bootloader hope this helps

Great, thanks. This is exactly what I needed to know. Guess I'll have to be patient then..
There is a way to unlock your bootloader. You must get a SIM unlock code, unlock your SP and send an email to Sony with some data like Imei, unlock code, etc. Then a messenger will be sent to pick your phone and lucky, Sony will unlock your phone.

this may be true but it only works with bootloader that is allowed, he states in op that his bootloader is unlockable.
service menu shows if you can or not open bootloader, i am on 3 and my bootloader is locked have tried with sony code but get message not available.

Few days ago sent an email to Sony asking about this issue. Here in Spain there was a global complaint from Xperia U users asking for open the possibility of unlock their bootloaders: not to unlock it but to change the "unlockable" state of the phone. After the debate, Sony says people could send their phones to Sony attaching the respective unlock code with which they'd unlocked (SIM Unlock). Then Sony would send the telephones with the bootloader unlockable.
PS: Maybe he meant "not unlockable" instead "unlockable". If it's unlockable then he doesn't have any problem!

Yes, I meant *not* unlockable. I actually live in Spain so this service from Sony would be very useful, could you tell me how I can do this?

Yeah, mate. You have to send a message to Sony saying you've (sim) unlocked your phone and you want to unlock your bootloader. They will send you all the information you need to go through with the process.
Quick questions and no they haven't been answered directly the way I am asking them :
1) If I wish to later do warranty repair and I currently have a locked boot-loader is backing up the TA going to give me a 1:1 undetectable root and later unroot if I choose. (i mean all my gracenote, bravia, and other DRM's be returnable to stock condition)? (if so which method is the BEST.. ? seen a couple now)
2) My stock firmware doesn't seem to be on the FTF list is this possible I have a : c6906 C6906 14.3.A.0.757 Generic CA R10 ??? This one is on the list I don't think so ? Perhaps I am reading the string from the wrong spot.. ! In which case anyone know what to do to make a backup ?
3)Everyone hates this question but I have to ask does anyone here know of a way to unlock a locked bootloader :YES flagged device; I feel like a dink asking but after sifting through hundreds of posts there seems to be contradiction as in some people eventually figure it out and/or have unlocked z1's which I have read elsewhere that every single z1 comes from factory with bootloader locked yes?
Answer one of these questions for me make my day and you will have my many thanks to come

1) Why Unlock Bootloader for Root if you can get Root on Locked Bootloader? First get Root on Locked Bootloader then Backup TA and do whatever you want. Best way is with the application to Backup TA, with that one you can Unlock and Relock, as you already had read 100 post then you know which method you have use to backup TA, right? (no? then search again) BTW, Yes, after Relock bootloader with the Backup of your TA your phone will be stock like new.
2) Perhaps you should understand that it do not matter, download any Generic CA or International CA for your specific model C6906. Done.
3)What that even supposed to mean? Type *#*#7378423#*#* and go to Configuration, if there is Bootloader Unlock Allowed: Yes, then you can unlock it, if there is NO, then is no way to Unlock it. To unlock it there is only ONE WAY, google it.

1) I think you may be confusing root and unlocking the bootloader. TA partition backups are for re-locking the bootloader, not removing root. In fact you must be rooted in order to make or restore a TA backup. Generally only an unlocked bootloader voids warranty, not root. Though if you're worried about it, you can always flash a stock FTF and you will be back to stock without root.
For TA backup there's a Windows app that will do it, just Google it. Works great
2) Your firmware is there. Google "c6906 14.3.a.0.757" and it's the first link
3) As @eclyptos said, if your service menu says unlock is allowed, then you can. If it says unlock is not allowed then you can't and I'd say there's a 99% chance you will never be able to.

almost fully clear on this but still curious how my device is R10 which I don't see on the 6906 list.. I see r4 and so on.
I have read on a website that unlike z1s and other z devices every single z1 comes from factory locked. If so then how come some people have proclaimed the unlock success? Maybe that was just misinformation?
Thanks again will properly thank everyone later at home currently using the app

Yes, it's your misinformation. All of them have Bootloader Locked from day 1, Z1S is Locked Permanently and Unlockable, Z1 is Locked but can be Unlocked from the Official Sony Web Page, just google it.

Hello, I want to root my new Xperia Z3 Compact just to uninstall the carrier's bloatware. It came with 23.1.A.1.28 (i exchanged it for a new galaxy alpha, it was bought at the beginning of June ).
Rooting status says : Bootloader unlock allowed : No.
I don't even want to try to unlock it. Is it possible to downgrade the firmware with locked bootloader?
Will i lose anything? If possible, I'd really like to have a complete guide on both downgrading, rooting and upgrading back.
Thanks.
Hm, that's weird, I've checked "Search" and it's working just fine. Use search or check sticky next time.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/z3-compact/general/how-to-root-backup-drm-keys-t3013343
sorry and thank you, i did actually try searching for it but i was overwhelmed by what came up and lot's of it lead to guides containing unlocking the bootloader and i'm not really confident tinkering with android much
U can root with downgrade method. But thats all since u cannot unlock ur bootloader. If u follow the posted guide u should get it. Have done it with the guide without unlocking
great, I was kind of confused, I thought i need to unlock the bootloader to flash anything, including the downgrade
hi, i was wondering if there's a solution found in changing the status of Bootloader unlock allowed:NO to YES. i went to the sony service center yesterday and start asking if they could change the status or even unlock the bootloader but they didn't know what the heck I'm saying, they even don't know the what is a bootloader. Even my provider doesn't know how to unlock it. everyday im scouring the forum to find a solution but to no avail. I want to flash the cm build but i can't since the restriction. any help and guides will be appreciated.
thanks
good afternoon, I have a problem with my xperia z1 c6903 when unlocking the bootloader I get a message that says your phone can not be officially unlocked that I should thank.
Apparently Sony has blocked the ability to unlock the bootloader on certain devices.
This is most likely the case if you got your phone from your carrier. Do you have a branded Z1?
You can also look up if this is the case by doing the following:
1. Open dialler and enter *#*#7378423#*#*
2. Go to Service info > Configuration > Rooting Status.
3. "Bootloader unlock allowed" should say Yes
If it doesn't, then at least the official way of unlocking your device won't work.
Any "not official" way to unlock the bootloader? Mine is locked too and i want to install something new in that old one. Thanks in advance.
Mine says not posible but i read somewere that can be done
That's the thing, is an old smartphone today, i don't understand why only certains models can be unlocked. Now im on last oficial os (5.1.1). I get it root but i cant unlock the bootloader in any way.
