Hi all,
I have a weird requirement.
I have a Nexus 6.
1. I installed gotomypc app and gotomypc software on my work laptop and my Nexus 6 and I can browse my laptop when I'm outside.
Similarly, is there any app, which I can install on my Nexus 6 and remote control my another Verizon Galaxy S5 Phone in my home?
I want to just do everything, like I do when I connect via gotomypc software to my laptop from my Phone or Work Laptop.
I don't mind paying monthly fee for this app, if there is a subscription fees. Just like for gotomypc, I pay $9.95/ Month.
Thank You for Your suggestions.

I used to use Splashtop. Unsure if it will work from phone to phone though. Perhaps.

I have no clue how I replied with a post from another thread. Disregard that link apparently lol.

I just now downloaded, Logmein, Team Viewer, Splashtop.
All are controlling Your PC from Your Android.
I already have a Gotomypc Subsription and I pay $10 every month for that.
But how can I connect my ANDROID, from my Nexus6.
Thats my requirement.
You need to install a VNC server for Android on the device you want to control. Then you should be able to use any VNC client to access it.

Its for people that are too scared to root the phone.
Yeah I am with you, Id rather root but there are the "scared" ones that wish to never do such a thing..

Ah, it is no root. You're right, then. If you don't root, it's probably very useful as I haven't seen another one that works without root. Or does PDANet? Either way, PDA is hella expensive, and I just use the windows installer to install my ADB drivers for me.
This is the only one I've heard of that can connect game systems. That might make it worth the price...

Is it actually fast enough to be useful for say... Xbox Live? It seems like 3g would be laggy as hell!
Well it's better then expected. Don't play FPS games though, the latency is big, but racegames and RTS and so on work perfect.
Has anyone successfully used EasyTether to tether their Xbox? I've tried all day with no success.
Sent from my DROID2 using XDA App
you have to tether to a computer/laptop via usb, then connect the xbox to the computer via ethernet and enable internet connection settings in the network adapter properties.
nothing special, you can do it with any tethering application.
Easytether
I have been using Easytether for a while now. I have followed all the directions for connecting my xbox to the internet via easytether. It proceeds to work connecting to the network and internet when i test the connection but right when its testing the xbox live connection it says it failed because my MTU setting it to low. It says i need a MTU setting of atleast 1364. I have looked up many ways of trying to fix this using Easytether and none have worked. I have tried to use the DRTCP software and that neglected to work for me neither. Im wondering if anyone can please help me out with this connection error. It would be greatly appreciated.
Hello, I posted in the Vidrant but no luck... I have Uverse from AT&T and my brothers iphone has a app that controls the DVR I just got my tv guide from them and its showing a app for the captivate... Would love to have this app. Trying to find out if the app is out and if some one could post the apk.
Thank you for your help with this!

Hey, I work for AT&T and as of yet, no U-Verse app for us androidians. Only iPhone and Blackberry at this time. I'm told it is in the works.
Ok Thank you

I am kind of put off that there's an app for the Windows 7 ATT phone that isn't even out yet. The Android version has been "in the works" for a while now.
The U-verse app is available for the Captivate.

Works for more then just the captivate. HTC incredible and others work too. Get the apk at irtehun.net if u don't have ATT

Very cool. Very easy to navigate and see what is on.
APK
Attached is the apk but read the press release posted a few posts up as it only works on certain devices right now according to the press release.
Going to try this on my vibrant , will post results.
EDIT: Works!!!!!
I just d/l it in market. Does anyone know if it currently works without having u-verse at home? I thought i read for win phone 7 that u wouldnt have to pay for it if u already had it at home would be included.
Im all for paying just didnt see anything on account management for it.

What are you going to use it for if you don't have u-verse service?
I can confirm that this works on an EVO and Incredible.
They said on windows phone 7 it would beable to d/l movies to watch and said would be free if u were a u-verse home user. Like as in u could subscribe to the mobile service to watch movies from it like ondemand

I read that where Windows Phone 7 is concerned that if you don't currently have U-Verse service at home you'd be able to pay some sort of fee and use the limited version of it on your phone. But thats all that was said about it. We can assume this might be something exclusive to WP7 as it appears that AT&T is putting a lot of weight behind the platform.
As far as the Android version, I have U-Verse, and have yet to find any shows or movies that I'm allowed to download to my phone for later viewing. It first requires activation of the service via "manage account", which I did after getting errors the first few times about their systems not being ready or whatever. Then when it worked, I went into my DVR and could download NONE of the programs I have recorded. Apparently downloading is limited to a certain selection of programs. Unfortunately theres no information about what shows, channels, etc can do this.
UPDATE: Ok...so theres very few shows that are available for download. Most of them are Disney Channel stuff, few Animal Planet/TLC/Discovery Channel shows, some ABC stuff.
From ATT Uverse on Facebook:
If you click on the Library tab on the app, you should be able to see what shows are available. That said, we're working on getting more and more programming available on the app. Thanks!

Download content is only available if you have the U300 package. 100 and 200 are not able to see anything beyond their DVR content.
Works great. Glad to see AT&T is supporting Android a little bit.
The app works MUCH better than the web page on the captivate. As for the downloadable content, until they get stuff on there that is actually interesting, I'm certainly not upping my uverse package to the U300.
I do hope that they get it to the point where I can stream my DVR recordings to my phone. Now THAT would be sweet!
Another bonus, a friend has the U300 package. He let me use his account login info to watch the downloadable videos as needed. NICE
I talked to a main att guy over all the stores where i live, and he said that the mobile service is strictly for Windows phone 7 its exclusive right now that u dont need home u verse for it and u can d/l stuff from web with it only on wifi though. and that if u have u verse at home its free and of course can access all that stuff to.
All other phones including iphone will only beable to use app if you are a home u verse user no mobile service for any of those. Windows phone 7 comes with it in a tile and its a feature to enable to d/l content from att's u-verse, i guess on demand stuff.
i tried to download and use this on my samsung moment with no luck
Since this is one of the ones demoed and it's listed as a featured tablet app under the productivity section in the Market, I figured it was fine for honeycomb. Nope. Tried it and got my refund within the 15 min mark. Then sent an email to Logmein customer support.
Here's what they said:
"We are currently working diligently to make LogMeIn Ignition compatible with the most recent version of Android OS (Honeycomb). Please continue to check the Android Marketplace for application updates as the next update will provide full support for it."
Have you tried wyse pocketcloud?
probably it will be available in few days.

TeamViewer
honestly, team viewer is a much better app. i used logmein for about 18 months, including both ipod touch and android versions as well.
i made the full switch to team viewer a few months ago. hard to describe why its better, it just is. I have had the same feedback from 2 die hard logmein friends as well. teamviewer is better, and the mobile app kills ignition. On top of that, they dont charge you for personal accounts, only commercial accounts do. apk is free as well.
now for the xoom, the only drawback (if you want to call it that) is that the log in makes you go portrait, but after that it almost feels like it was made for a tablet. an update would be nice, but not necessary in the slightest to get it working flawlessly.
I would be lost without a rdp client. i use it for both work and home. i use it more than i bet, most people on xda and more than anyone i know.
how could you go wrong? give it a whirl and you will not be sorry.

Looks like you can sideload it directly from the website:

Definitely interested in giving this a try. Was not happy with the $5 Splashtop Remote, and was considering dropping the $30 for LogMeIn.
Perhaps the OP should update the title of the thread to indicate that the app is worth trying now?

Pocketcloud worked well for me and it was free. Although, I decided to pay the $14.99 in order to access more than one computer. But it is free to access one ... as long as you can put up with the small ad, which was no big deal to me.
I know this isn't really N7 related, but i noticed it more today when i received my N7. Google music STILL isn't available for UK users. It's been public in the US for nearly a year now. Google need to step up their game. Really disappointing. Sorry for ranting but pretty pathetic it's taken them this long and they still aren't any closer to making it available to people outside the US.
North America isn't the only place people buy you're products Google!
Blame the studios and all the work required for licensing.

Apple worked on it for years before managing to strong arm the studios. It will happen, but right now the mindset must be "well, we have our stuff on iTunes. Don't all them young folk have iPhones?"
And yes, all music executives are out of touch elderly men who don't know that not all touchscreen phones are iPhones.
Not only music, we can't buy films either, only rent.
With the Nexus 7 being so Play oriented I would have hoped they would have struck some kind of deal by now.
Hey
Its not hard to do, just use something like hotspot shield, sign up, then once its done, you wont have to do it again, it'll work. I did it when it first came out and its been working ever since.
It is a shame though, you guys in the US have a lot more
I used tunnelbear (free) signed up and setup in 10 mins, working on my phone and n7, just glad i have an unlimited data contract :victory:
As the others have said, use a VPN to sign up. That is the only time (except for if you try to purchase muzak) that Google checks your geo-location. After that you can start uploading your music and playing it with the app on your 7.

How the heck did you get your android devices working with tunnel bear? I can't find the VPN servers anywhere

I think its probably the bpi blocking them. They are not happy that google isn't more proactive at removing what they consider copyright infringing sites from their search listings. Maybe googles new policy to move sites down the search rankings will mollify them.

You just need to use it on a pc long enough to go to music.google.com and register. Then you no longer need a proxy unless you want ti try and buy music, buying music though needs a us payment card.

Ya I gotcha now.... I thought you were accessing the market from your n7 through the VPN. Buying a prepaid MasterCard and registering it to an american address should allow purchases though......

I gave up on Google Music when I realized just how terrible my DSL upload speed is. I didn't really care to have to wait days upon days for my music to upload to Google, so I just rsync'd it to my server right here on my gigabit LAN and fired up Subsonic. Once I donated a few bucks to unlock the premium mobile streaming license, I was golden.
Note: DDNS would be a severe +1 in this scenario. I already had it set up, so I could point to my specific URL instead of my IP which Verizon changes every other day anyway.

When you say "market won't install" do you mean it won't let you install Google Play Music? Yeah that's normal. You can either sideload or use something like Market Enabler.

I neeed an Android remote app to help my 75 y/o mother with her phone.
Her phone is not Rooted. I need to be able to connect over the Internet for configuration, repairing, and teaching purposes.
It needs to be bang easy to install on here side. NO VNC server for instance. Just getting a program installed will be hard enough! She's 700 miles away.
Do you guys have any suggestions?
I'm looking at Airdroid presently. But was wondering if this was the best thing out there.
