I am just a n00b and idk anything about programming except some C++ stuffs
So i installed android SDK on Windows(SP2) and was planning to make some Apps like personalised android launcher for my mini..but after installing the .exe I just sat around like dumb..i just dont know what to do...
So here are my qwestions
1) How to connect my phone to SDK (GT-S5570 Cyanogen music edition by Crazy K_P and android version 2.3.4)
2) how to develop some random small apps as just for getting started
3) i found out an youtube video on how to make Android Launchers but nothing was mentioned on how to run SDK and stuffs
Am posting the video link soon
Hoping to get help from all of you guys here
-Rik(Rittik)
you first need to download the android, open sdk manager n select wich android you want to download, when it finished open avd manager n create new virtual devices, n there you go, start it and you got virtual devices running..
btw sdk is for testing your apps, not creating. CMIIW
Yes, after downloading SDK you have to open the SDK Manager and select the stuffs you need to download like which Platform (Android 2.2/2.3/4.0 etc. ), code samples, documentations etc. Select only the required stuffs like any Android platform or its gonna be a hell lot of time required to wait to finish downloading.
After that you have to connect the SDK with Eclipse using ADT plugin. There are many Youtube videos regarding this, so it won't be a problem.
PS: Before you start with all these stuffs, its always good to have look on several ebooks on Android development, as you're a fresher.
umm thanks to u guys now i am kinda connected..do you guys know how to make apps wid it ?

For that you need to start from beginning like creating New Project and coding the stuffs, deploying in an Emulator or you can test run the app in your own phone by installing the apk file. As I previously mentioned start by referring some tutorials, and get in touch with what you are doing.
Hello! I'm new to XDA Developers, so pardon my noobiness.
Basically, I purchased a galaxy gear off ebay, but my samsung galaxy S3 is only running 4.1.3 as stupid Telstra have not rolled out the 4.3 update for the S3 GT-i9305T. I was able to connect my galaxy gear to it by installing gear manager, and most features work... except the apps. When I try install an app, this error comes up: "Installation Failed. Try again later.(0)" and I have no idea what to do.
Basically what I'm wondering if there is a fix for this, or if it is possibly to somehow install 4.3 if my carrier hasn't rolled it out yet.
Thanks!
-Louis

I remember reading on this forum (either in this questions sub-forum or in the General sub-forum), others have talked about apps issues with different versions of gear manager. There is a thread in the General sub-forum that talks about different versions of gear manager. You guys might want to look through that thread and see which version of gear manager works best for your needs. I say that because I remember others were saying that the newest version of gear manager is not necessarily the best at keeping all the apps you installed.
good luck guys.

I think your situation may be a little different than OP's. From your sig your gear is rooted with null rom 26 (btw where did you find that, I thought the latest null rom is only 23?), so you would have a custom recovery on your gear already. Then all you need is to load the apks through bluetooth file transfer on to the gear, and intall it from the gear directly, you don't need gear manager at all for this.
As for why your s3 is not recognizing the gear, I am not sure. I had my note 2 on dn3 kitkat with latest gear manager (1.7 something I think) connected to my gear on null 23 rom and everything was working, including bluetooth file transfer, and I was able to install apks by bluetooth file transfer and then install from the gear itself.
Where are apk files saved?

I think the apk files are stored in the download folder or bluetooth/download folder. Sorry can't remember off the top of my head. I just upgraded my gear to Tizen yesterday, so I cannot check.

On my note 2 with dn3 v4 beta 2, the downloaded apks from my playstore are in root/factory, different devices may have it in different name.
If you are talking about apks downloaded from internet or transferred from PC, then it most likely will be in root/sdcard/download folder.

I am not sure why your s3 does not connect to the gear, sorry I cannot help as I do not have a s3. one would think it is capable as I have seen gear with null rom connected to s2 before. Perhaps someone else who has a s3 and gear can chime in and lend a hand here?
One thing though, if you have apk's that you would like on the gear, I would recommend staying with android for now, as Tizen is still too new, and of the few apps thats available, they are all from the official Samsung Store, at the moment we cannot install third party apps without going through Samsung Store on Tizen.
As many users here are finding Samsung have limited the Gear apps shown to certain devices. As such I thought it would be good to catalog the apps each phone/model can see. This way we can use build.prop modifications to get all the apps we want.
To get apps to show three lines must be edited in the build.prop:
Code:
ro.product.model
ro.product.name
ro.product.device
The following two posts show the two phone models that I have currently tested.
Hope this helps someone.
Edit:
Seems that the S5 model number seems to produce the best selection so far. See below for details.
Phone/Model: Samsung Galaxy Note 2 - US Sprint
Build.prop edits:
Code:
ro.product.model=SPH-L900
ro.product.name=toltespr
ro.product.device=toltespr
Apps: See attached
Phone/Model: Samsung Galaxy Note 3 - UK Vodafone
Build.prop edits:
Code:
ro.product.model=SM-N9005
ro.product.name=hltexx
ro.product.device=hlte
Apps: See attached
Phone/Model: Samsung Galaxy S5 -
Build.prop edits:
Code:
ro.product.model=SAMSUNG-SM-G900A
May not be needed but I had them set as they are my defaults.
Code:
ro.product.name=hltexx
ro.product.device=hlte
Apps: See attached
Categories same as for Note 2
Edit:
Some people are reporting issues with Samsung apps upgrading their stock apps to those available on the s5, upgrading s health will stop it from working and you will lose any data when downgrading to your stock version. You have been warned.
Also works with ro.device.model=SAMSUNG-SM-G900T

Don't have any problems with : ro.product.model=SAMSUNG-SM-G900A
I've got a S5ized rom for the S4 with everything coming from S5 (apps and so on ...).
Working perfect ! I don't understand why they'd do that, if they want us to stay with the Gear, they should allow us to use most apps available here lol
This is quite a trick!!
I have a Note 2 with stock rom (with root, because with DN3 I couldn't install some apps in my gear 1, so I reverted back to stock).
I use SAMSUNG-SM-G900A in my build.props and almost every day I have new apps coming! absolutely amazing!!:good:
thanks man!
Hey!
Some users which have nearly full access in the gear manager app store to the apps are able to upload the app files of the "free" apps for the peoples they don't have root?
This where really great!
On my Sony Z Ultra I see the Tizen apps and a few will install however the majority of apps will give an
"Installation filed: Try Later. (0) error.
Anyone else have this issue and /or a solution to fix?

You may to get a "certificate-registration.xml" from samsung and then copy the file to your gear in the following directory: "Home/Developer"
Then you're able to install apk's which are not from the gear manager store.
I wrote a guide in german language, so i think it not help you.
Can't write it in english because my english is not so good and not enough to do this
But you can try to look on it:

You can get around this by installing the s5 health service as well to go with it then s5 s health will work for most
Is a must to clear data and cache for to work
I'm an old guy who is new to making modifications to my phone and I really need some help.
I've got a Samsung Galaxy Note 4 with a stock ROM and running Android 5.01. I've installed TWRP and made a backup. From there, I'm a little lost. From the reading that I've done, I know that Samsung has a bootloop issue. I've downloaded the Xposed ZIP for Samsung but in the details it said it runs on Android 5.1 and above. Here is what I need to know.
1. Will the modified framework work on 5.01 or is there another version of Xposed that I should be running?
2. Does anyone know if there is a written guide or a good step by step video that can walk me through the setup? Most of the stuff that I'm reading is written for people with more background in Android modifications than I actually have. I'm kind of looking for something written for a novice, that takes me through all of the steps.
3. A really basic question here that will give you an idea of my experience level. Everything I've read about Xposed on the Note 4 says that you have to flash the framework to the phone. How do you do that? I know that may sound like a stupid question but I'm a beginner.
Any assistance will be much appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Welcome to XDA.
Please have a look at this thread and read post #2.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/xposed/official-xposed-lollipop-t3030118
There you'll find all required information about how to identify the correct framework version for yourself. You have to use the framework version by XDA member arter97. A link to the corresponding thread can be found in the above mentioned post #2.
You have mostly set up everything that you need for flashing Xposed. Flashing means installing a file (either .zip or .img) through recovery. TWRP is a custom recovery, thus enabling users to flash custom modifications such as Xposed or custom ROM's. Just enter TWRP, chose Install, navigate to the file you want to install and proceed.
For video tutorials, just search YouTube for "flashing Xposed Lollipop Samsung" (or similar).
If you have further questions about the framework, please use the corresponding thread of arter97.
As an alternative, search XDA for "Material Design Xposed Installer". You'll find a thread of an unofficial version of the Xposed Installer app, which can help you to find and install the correct version in a more easier way. Don't worry about the description "unofficial", it is the same as the official version, beside the option to download and install framework versions for not officially supported versions like the one you need.
Thank you. Have run into another issue though and need further assistance.

Thank you for posting this thread. It helped me a lot but I've run into another issue. Specifically, deodexing my ROM. I've spent the better part of the past day researching this.
The thread you gave me has a link to a deodexing tool but I can't get it to work on the phone since windows 10 doesn't recognize the phone as a logical drive with a letter. Instead, it comes up by its name: Ganymede
Is there another way that you know of to deodex the ROM? I know that Titanium Backup Pro does deodexing but only for apps. They have a disclaimer that says they don't impact framework... which is what I'm assuming that I need to do. Or is there already a deodexed version of the stock Samsung ROM available to use? Again, I'm new to this so I really don't know what I'm looking for.

I am not familiar with how to deodex a ROM as I haven't done this before. But there is a dedicated sub-forum here on XDA for the Note 4 (even for different carriers, if this applies to you). A quick search for "Samsung Galaxy Note 4" will bring up all sub-forums. Identify the correct one for your device and check out the Q&A section or ROM development sections there. You might find either a guide about how to deodex a ROM, a deodexed ROM itself or a custom ROM, which does not necessarily need to be deodexed if it is based on an Android version different from 5.0.1.
As I am not familiar with both the Note 4 as well as the process of deodexing a ROM, I am afraid that I might be of no further help here. Hopefully you'll find some way in the above mentioned sub-forum.

I have some questions about Android Studio. I realize that it's intended for development, but I'm wondering if it's suitable for someone to use for experimenting with rooting and using apps like TWRP, flashfire, etc. I have a nexus 5x and I'd like to root it, but I would like to try first on something like Android Studio so I can easily return to a clean configuration and try something else.
Thanks.
Anyone?
Anyone?
With Android Studio, basically, you develop android apps or tools for developing android apps.
Thank you for answering my question.
