Has anyone bought a skin for our moto g yet?
DBrand said it was going to release it, but it havent done it yet; so I searched and found these: https://slickwraps.com/devices/phones/android/moto-g-wraps-skins.html
What do you guys think?[emoji10]
I bought one and kept it on for about 10 minutes before throwing it away.
Maybe I'm just finicky, but the skin was molded to wrap from the bottom shell to above the power/volume keys. Because of this, the sides of the skin were not as secure and there was a bit of a lip on the edges.
Again, you may have a better experience, bit after using similar wraps/skins on my M7, Nexus 4 and 5, this was the first I was unhappy with.
I purchased a black carbon fiber skin from phantomskinz.com fits and looks great.

How to create your own dbrand
I've decided to make my own 'dbrand' skin for my Moto G and this is the results:
What I did was order a carbon fiber vinyl sheet: http://amzn.com/B0059XEM9I
And then I created a template based on the dimension of the Moto G. I've printed out the template and then used it to cut out the carbon fiber skin. I used an X-ACTO knife along with some straight edges to make the cut as straight as possible. As for the corners and curves, I took my time and used a scissors to cut them. As for the circle for the camera, I made the circle around the camera lens bigger as cutting bigger circles is much easier than cutting small circles. I used the inside of a CD disc as a guide for the circle (cutting with an X-ACTO knife). As for the flash, I just used a hole puncher to punch out a circle for that. I tried cutting out a circle for the Motorola dimple, but I found it very difficult, so I ended up not cutting a circle.
You may want to use some scratch paper to practice cutting with, it took several attempts before I had a skin I was pleased with. You can use any kind of vinyl you want, just search for the material and you'll most likely find it. They are very cheap (I got mine for $6) and you get a whole roll of it. You get so much vinyl, you could probably make 100+ skins out of a single purchase.
If anyone wants template I used, here it is: https://hostr.co/EQoAgJCKViOm

how these work? they're like stickers that you apply onto the shell? The wooden ones look classy.
I got white for my black, now I use it for few days so that when I remove it my moto g 2014 looks feels beautiful (without skin)

+1 for dbrand skins. Bought the red truecolour last summer, and its awesome. I like the deep saturated red colour, the picture on their website was very accurate

dunno if anybody's seen this. For those who prefer skins over cases, they have 3 designs available. I just received my carbon fiber skin...
How do you like the CF finish? I was contemplating the same one from Amazon. The sole review wasn't promising.

The quality and feel is nice. Not slippery, feels good in hand. Just putting the skin on is a b*tch. Couldn't get the edges to line up, ended up with creases around the corners. I'm sure those more adept at putting skins on will have no problem.
I am a pro at installing skins and screens and I can say that the skinomi carbon fiber skin is not cut correctly. It creases on the corners and with time it will peel off.

That's what I was afraid of.
to the OP, is it real CF or just a sticker with CF pattern?

It feels like carbon fiber but who knows.
I just got mine yesterday as well and like it a lot.
The carbon fiber feel is nice and its thicker and stiffer then a sticker, actually does feel like carbon fiber.
As for the application, I'm terrible at putting these things on.
I did my best to line up all the cutouts. I then used a hair dryer on the corners and made sure I pulled the tabs to slightly stretch them as I bent them down.
It seemed to stick very well with the aid of the hair dryer.
The edges of the skin obviously dont fit flush against the case and are slightly raised because of the skins thickness, if something keeps getting caught on it, I would worry about it peeling back in time.
But so far so good and it seems securely 'adhesed'/'adhesived'?
25% off coupon
Use "get25" at checkout to get 25% off or around $5.
14.99 is still expensive for a skin that doesn't fit well. I got creases on mine at the corners as well but called them and they are shipping me a new one. Might have the same problem though but at least I got 2 screen protectors!
so bc of the creases, I get lint/dust from my pockets stuck to the edges. too bad bc the carbon fiber gives it a sexy look. If it was precisely cut, I'd recommend it 100%. Buy at ur own risk.
I don't think its the skins fault. The shape of the nexus s battery cover makes it impossible to fit a thick skin to it. Probably the same reason no cases are out yet.
Skinomi carbon fiber skin
Just got this carbon fiber skin yesterday.. I think it look pretty cool. Installation was like 15 mins cause there is some heatgum process involved.. not big deal.... made by Skinomi. I paid like 18 or so. Amazon.Com.

WOW that looks amazing! i bought one too but can't seem to get the edges at the bottom aligned due to the bump on the bottom of the phone. How did you get it so smooth without ANY creases or folds when it gets to that part? and could you specify what you did for the heatgum process?
I notice they include the screen protector with it... how is that? Is it rubbery or smooth? Orange peel?
Thanks =)

I cant speak for the OP, but the way I did it was use a hair dryer.
I used the medium heat setting and the skin gets really malleable when it gets hot. Then you can pull it to stretch it and it grips on the curves really well without creases.
I pretty much used the hair dryer on all the edges. Just spot used it on one edge, pull and stretch and make sure the skin is smooth, then repeated for the 3 other edges.
That **** looks effin' DOPE.

I'm not a huge fan of this style but I think it's pretty well made! I personally more interested in a leather or PU leather one, with this kind of pretty good quality, you may know where I can find it? Thanks
For sure, everyone has their own style. Slickwraps typically has real leather, cork and even football skin versions on this natural series. I'd dig leather too.
i don't get how people have the balls not to put a case on this phone
Lol I've been a long time smart phone owner and have never dropped a phone. That being said I have insurance! I just have a hard time not using it bare. They spend millions in R&D to develop this design and I can't stand putting it in a case. I had a clear TPU on it and I hated after a few weeks. Lol I'm crazy though.

These are port covers I cut off my old Ringke case. I have real dust covers in mail though. Lol

Here's the solid orange Slickwrap color with my Ringke Fusion (case fits very tight.. had to force it on and it caused a few small tears on the sides of the skin). Install was super easy and for the screen protector I just cut a Healing Shield so that it fit perfectly in the opening. If the screen protector covers anything other than the actual screen then it will not work with the front skin.
The only issue I have is getting the corners to sit down on 1 side... I think it will eventually flatten out as long as I hold it in place a few more times. Really liking the look.

Dbrand skins are produced using 3MM vinyl and have exceptional accuracy and fit and completion.
I'd like to know where you guys ordered that front tempered glass from, I'm looking for one with a good price.
This was my first time ever applying a phone skin. I got this one from dbrand. All I bought was a white backing piece, black nexus letters, and the colored nexus X. It cost about $12. My order arrived about 4-5 business days after I submitted it (mailed from Toronto). The backside of my phone is naturally white, so it is a white skin on a white backing. It took about 30 minutes, with the most difficult part being getting the letters and the colors of the nexus X to go into the cutout of the white backing. Overall I'm pretty happy with the results. I'm a little worried about the colored x parts staying in, but we'll see how they hold up. If you casually glanced at the backing you would not realize it is not part of the phone. Once you start focusing intently and looking at it from 8 inches away you can discern pretty clearly that the letters are stickers.

I have not found it to be any more slippery than the naked back of the phone. In fact it might be a little more grippy than the natural back, which I found to be a little slippery.
I can't comment on lint. Have not seen any lint picked up, but I have a TPU case over the skin now, and it sits on my desk for most of the day.
I put a nilken clear TPU case on the phone. I will take a picture and upload later. Really happy with the case & skin combo. You can easily read the "nexus" lettering through the phone case and I've had a few people ask about it. I can lay it face down with the case on and enjoy the skin.
Also handed my phone to someone who had an iPhone 4 and he said that the nexus was one of the smoothest functioning phones he had ever used. Granted he's comparing versus a older iPhone, but I took it as a positive.

I suppose it's got to be pretty hard to capture the texture in the photo without a great macro lens, but would you say the feel is better than before? I keep having this bad feeling that the white of the back is going to get really dirty and want to cover it up.

With the skin on, the phone has more grip to it (my subjective opinion). I thought the original back felt a bit slippery and wasn't the best quality (previous phone was an HTC One), so adding the skin made the feel better for me.
I'm not sure about dirt. The dbrand site says they use 3M vinyl, which is also used to wrap cars, so I'd assume the vinyl is designed to resist dirt and staining, but that's only a guess.

The links are to my imgur albums. Both cases below should provide good drop protection and are compatible with the Skinomi screen protector.
Tech21 Evo Check
Pro: Doesn't add much thickness and provides a decent lip around the camera. Fingerprint sensor not affected and the port cutout works great with the stock charger and third-party cables.
Con: Power and volume buttons become harder to press. Adds some width to the phone.
Incipio DualPro
Pro: Nice matte finish. Camera sits below the case and there's a decent lip around the front glass. The buttons remain easy to press. Cutouts are compatible with cables.
Con: Slightly thicker than the Tech21.
dbrand Hyperblack Titanium
Originally purchased for my Moto Z Force. Fits perfectly and works with Moto Mods.
Skinomi TechSkin screen protector
Pro: Full coverage for the glass and the cutouts are correctly aligned. Provides good clarity and doesn't affect the display quality.
Con: Slight orange peel effect can be seen when the screen is off. Fingerprint buildup.
NEW: dbrand Marble

I bought it off of dbrand's site. Since the back panel is made the same across the Z-line for MotoMod compatibility, back skins from those phones work fine with the Z Play.
Updated to include the dbrand Marble skin.

Quick question about where you got the small black cutout that protects the camera? I'd be really interested in getting me one of those...
edit: discount that, just checked the dbrand website and it's an option on there.
Also I assume you picked up your tech21 case from Verizon? That's the only place I've seen it...

I ordered only stickers for the back plate and camera using the model based on Moto z force. It shouldn't matter which model I picked because all these models use the same Moto mod so I'm assuming the surface area on the back is the same on all variants. I'll post here to confirm once it arrives.
Thinking about getting one of these for my 45mm Silver GW3. I think I like the silver bezel better than the black one, plus it will add protection.
Have any of you tried one of these?

Ringke Bezel Styling
Good find. Makes the watch look more premium. Although it looks kind of strange with the same scale on the sloped inside of the existing bezel (which, to be honest, is so small it's barely legible).
I have the black version, but looking at a few silver & black steel bands, and this would go well with that.
It would have been nice to see Samsung give the watch a bit more premium bezel and buttons (definitely looks better on the silver).
I bought 1 last week and added it to my GW3 on Thursday looks good on and gives the bezel some protection . I did try a spare from my original GW and you can just feel a slight ridge on the inner part but fitted ok

Not really seeing the need for the case protector. I might add the screen protector.
Really like that bezel add-on! More premium with the tachyometer, so complements the inner scale. Just have to decide between black or silver!

I like the silver bezel I got. The bumper is ok - silver color is a little off and it makes it difficult to turn the bezel because it doesn't leave much of an edge.

Will definitely be swapping out my numbered one for that when available, I get the regular one (GW3-45-01) from Ringke today, but having numbers on an arbitrary spinning bezel doesn't really make much sense. That being said, where are these other two?

Yep, i was deciding between "plain" and "rugged" one (sorry for a description, not a native speaker). I chose plain one for now. I expect ****storm of clones on chinese sites like aliexpr. soon so we will see.
Also had to order from US , since in EU I could not find this plain type available anywhere during the time I ordered.
So it`s ~16$ + 10$ shipping for a small metal ring sticker for me.

Still newbie here so no direct link allowed for me : www DOT shorturl DOT at/FKQR3
IMO, get the tachyometer bezel cover because then a more classic look (as opposed to the regular numbered one). Comes in a variety of color options, as well:

It's a pity that Ringke hasn't all black (without numbers and letters) bezel. I would like use it as a protector to my black SGW3, because I think that original bezel is fine, but it can may scratched.

Nice to have the added protection against scratches.
rinke qulaity is best, however, no tachy. I got a generic one and stuck it on,
Hi guys, finally my bezel from ringke arrived, I am very satisfied, watch now looks so much better with it than default black version imo :
Thanks, guys. I would prefer a black Ringke version, but it does not seem to exist.
