[Q] Loading Play Store apps - Samsung Gear VR

I am looking into getting the gear VR as fpv (first person view) glasses for when I'm flying with the phantom 2 vision plus drone.
In order to do that, I need the gear VR to be able to load the DJI vision app (which is just a normal play store app).
As far as i'm aware, you are able to load any play store app by making sure you don't plug the note 4 into the Gear VR usb port, but how do play store apps look through the glasses?
Are they usable?

I just installed the app to check it out. I don't think this will work the way I think you want. You are looking for a FPV in the VR correct? The VR is dependant on a split screen view, I didn't see any options to make that happen in the app
Maybe you can force generate a split screen with the app using third party app? As it is now if you tried to use the app and the VR you would only see half of the screen in each eye which sucks... Image provided so you understand the format

I see, thanks for trying it out.
Basically I wish the Gear VR would have a mode where it would just somehow display a normal app as if you had a tv right in front of your eyes, much like other FPV glasses (such as the carl zeiss cinemizer). Seems like it doesn't work that way

Gear vr it's basically two lenses above phone display. Cinemizer has two separate displays.

Thnx for the bar code
Has anyone spotted anything outstanding yet? I've not really seen anything I would think would win.
Yesterday I reviewed Drive AR Navigation on the ADC 2 app. Basically it is an augmented reality based Sat Nav system, but use the live video feed from your camera instead of maps. Overlays the insturctions on top of the live video feed. Uses the compass as well as gps. Contains voice directions obviously. Failry awesome. But useless at night as the video feed from my HTC Hero camera is rubbish at night.
i tried ADC2 for a week or so and have been having fun.
but yesterday, when I downloaded an app "YourKey", it crashed my phone and non-stop prompted me "Force Close" and it still did the same even after I rebooted the phone. The home won't load up because it constantly crashed and prompted the "Force Close" so it means I can't even uninstall the crashing App.
At the end i had to hard reset my phone and redid everything which took me hours.
Somehow I believe some of these apps have not been tested thoroughly.
Be careful. Take your own risk. I gave up on that.

LG G Watch R Teaser Video And Images

With LG making the move to go circular, the LG G Watch R has taken a similar approach to the smart-watch as the Moto 360. With the mass of wearable's now hitting the streets, which form factor will be most successful. Lets take a look at the images leaked so far:

Anybody have any comment on the design?
I don't get the point of the compass-like bezel if you're gonna use a digital clock watchface and not an analog watchface

Of what I've read, that's not a bezel its part of the display, so could potentially be changed. I'm still sat on the fence about these circular displays, sure they look good, but we're yet to see how practical they are for text etc.
As for the digital/analogue watch face, its really down to personal preference. I often swap between the two on my Gear neo 2, depending on my activities, for me the digital is more practical, the analogue just looks smart. But as i said, personal preference, just great to have the choice:good:
Isn't the bezel where all the drivers are hidden? I thought that's how they were able to make the screen fully circular.
I was hoping to get a moto 360, but after using the first g watch I can't see how the same version of android wear will work on a circular display. I do think this looks much better that the moto tho.

Self updating apps

Has anyone else noticed their apps updating themselves without the use of the play store? I swear today I saw Facebook and Google play music do it.

they only update if you have the auto update option enabled in the play store. otherwise they do not auto update.
I must have slept too long then and not noticed the new features in GPM. Unless they were features already implemented but not enabled until Google decided to do so. I don't remember tapping search ever opened up a small search box, it was always it took me to a different screen.

I used to get something like that third picture
And now I get this little search box, and the play store doesn't show that it was recently updated.

It's pretty standard for google to implement features weeks or months in advance to "rolling them out" and usually it depends on Google Play Services which auto updates regardless of settings. wouldn't surprise me if Facebook used similar rollout methods

Google VR services

Anyone know why this package isn't disabled even when it shows as such on BK Disabler?

Not sure, I don't use BK Disabler but Gear VR Service, Gear VR Setup Wizard, & Gear VR Shell freeze fine for me using TiBU.
Look for it under running apps within the developer menu. BK shows it's disabled but it's still running per my screen shot.
EDIT. I'm a simpleton, ones called VR service and other VR services LOL hence one was disabled the other wasn't hence the confused me.

Just looked, not showing up there if frozen. In fact even if I don't freeze them they don't show up there.

Issue was user error. There are two Google VR services. Ones called Google VR service and the other Google VR services.
One was still running as I hadn't disabled it.

How do I log in to the Oculus App in 2023?

I've got a Samsung Galaxy S9 with Android 10, with the Oculus app installed, but I can't log into it. The furthest I've gotten is click Continue in Facebook (by creating a burner Facebook account), but then it doesn't go any further than trying to log in with an Oculus/Meta account.
I have an R234 with a USB-C adapter, and as of now the only thing I can do with my headset is use Oculus browser by launching it from quick shortcut maker.
Any ideas?
This is as far as I can get

I have managed to get the browser working! Go to Settings > Apps > Gear VR Service > Storage > Manage Storage > Enable "Add icon to app list". You can then go home, launch Gear VR Service, and open Oculus Browser, along with other VR apps from there.
I cannot login in ocoulus gear vr network connection problem please help me
