[Q] Galaxy ace odin problem - Galaxy Ace S5830 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Help please!!!
Actually my galaxy ace GT S5830 is dead from the last 2 months. This happened when i flashed a custom rom.
The phone is not evening turning on ,no samsung logo, no boot logo,no boot loops, nothing( and thats whats i meant when i say "dead" )..
But the phone is getting detecting when the phone is connected to computer when i used the following trick as said by some member in other thread :-
"Take out phone battery, start odin with phone plugged in (battery still out) and load the files you need, hold the 3 button combo for recovery and insert battery whilst still holding the buttons (may need a second pair of hands to help), the phone should now be recognised by odin so hit start. ""
and yes the phone is being detected by odin (v3.01), When i load the pda file and click "START",
NOTHING happens. The process is struck at "setup connection" ..
Its been 30 minutes by now,and its still stuck at "setupconnection"..
Need help here!!! please

why you try to flash S5830i stock ROM on S5830 Model? Try to flash S5830 stock ROM.
maybe the original problem was you flashed wrong ROM.

Bricked Tab :(

hi people,
So here is my issue, i rooted my tab after having it about a year and wanted to install a custom rom, installed RomManager from the market and installed the clockwork recovery mod, BUT i picked galaxy tab 10.1 when it asked me what phone i had, as there was no other option. I checked on google first and it seems other people with the 8.9 are using the clockwork recovery mod so i thought it was safe.
Now its dead and powers up to the samsung logo, and then dies again.
Help! (currently i am draining the battery as it is mentioned in another thread in this forum)
Thanks
(tried the APX thing in nvflash and it was a no go)

It's alright. Go to the guide in my signature and read up about ODIN because you will use it to save your tablet. It's all there in FAQs, How-tos and the Toolkit at the end.
i highly recommend checking out nirogu325's guide for an explanation of ODIN. it should solve your problem
Download Odin

Power on the tablet, you may need to charge it.
As it is powering on hold down the power and the vol down button
Go into download, not recovery
Connect your tablet to your computer with the USB cable
Open up Odin
You should see box that says PDA, click there and it will want you to find a file. Choice the recovery file
Make sure the box that says partition or repartion are NOT check
then check start and wait. DO NOT touch or disconnect the tablet while it works

I am glad you have your tablet back in working order.
Well now that you have the stock recovery, you can attempt to flash the Clockwork recovery again the right way if you want to. You now know how to recovery your tablet if you have a brick again so you don't have anything to lose

If Odin recognizes the tab there is a chance to recover it. What rom are you trying to flash? Go to sammobile.com and get the stock gb rom.

I know it doesn't make sense but keep trying to flash the rom. I've seen it not work for many tries and then it would for some reason. If odin recognizes the tab you are not hard bricked. You should be able to get it to operate again.
Also, use the gb Rom, uckj7

you won't be able to restore data from gb to cm7, not system data nor app data, so you need to reflash gb and start again
Here's my kit to do that quickly and easily, unzip and read.txt

Hi!
I downloaded your kit. I am having the same trouble as ranejitendra.
I followed the Samsung_Galaxy_S:_Full_Update_Guide. But when it was time to reboot after installing CM9 i just went into a bootloop. When I tried to restore my backup it says it is successfully restored but when it reboots it just stops at the Samsung logo screen.
When I use the kit I firstly let it be in the logo screen and Odin recognizes it becuase the ID:COM turns yellow and says 0:[COM10]
Secondly I tried to start it in recovery mode. Same result. In downloadmode it is not recognized.
when I hit start this comes:

[Q] Distorted screen + won't boot

Hey guys,
Last night I looked at my phone (which had been on charge for a while) and noticed that it was on the first S3 boot screen. So I assumed it had crashed and got stuck whilst rebooting, so I held the power button to reset it.
Problem is, it came back to the same screen, except this time the black background of the image was distorted - lots of red/green/blue dots on it. So I tried again, and it came back even worse... The third time, it settled on a completely distorted image and is now seemingly stuck like that.
The phone isn't booting, so far as I can tell. If I try to boot to recovery, I just see the same screen. If I boot into download mode, it actually works - the screen is no longer corrupt and it responds to button presses. (Although itnerestingly if I continue to hold Home + Vol Down + Power once the download screen appears, then it does distort).
I have tried plugging it into my PC. I don't see it as a MTP device (no suprises there), and ADB can't find it. It is however recognised by odin. I tried flashing a stock rom via odin, but it complained that there was no PIT found. (Which if I understand if something to do with the partitioning of the device.
Any ideas on how to solve this? Should I find a PIT image for my phone and flash that and the ROM together?
For background, my phone is a i9305 and was running paranoid android (4.2, IIRC).

That was why I was wondering about the PIT file.
I have also added some pictures (they're pretty low resolution, unfortunately). The first is what I see when I try to boot normally - lots of white and black bands (the yellow and purple you can see is just an artefact of my crappy webcam). The second image is download mode, where I continued to hold down the buttons after it loaded, causing it to reload with the corrupted image (again, this is a bit distorted by the webcam - the text and image aren't blurred).
no access to system and recovery,i doubt theonly way is download mode.just try an stock rom with pit files, agree that the issue have something to with the partition.if you have backup the whole system, even flash a new rom, youdata will be back easy and soon ,so nothing to worried and no way else to go,good luck.

As pit breaks more phones than it fixes its not recommended .
But your phone has no pit so you you have choices .
Warranty void so it would have to be a service repair .
Or you can try flashing a pit file yourself if it fails you will need to buy a new motherboard .
I´ve had the same Problem on my S1.
I Flashed a whole Package from Samsung Stock Firmware ( PIT MODEM PDA ) in Odin.
After that it worked again, i´ve needed some try´s but after that everythin was normal.

Do you mean specifically that you had the same error in odin, or that your S1 had the distorted screen too?
Well, I tried flashing the i9305 pit file and had no luck. The re-partitioning failed to start at all, so it didn't ruin the motherboard, at least.

Hi mate,
If you can't get in to Download Mode because of boot loop:
Try forcing it by holding all 3 buttons until it turns off, should come up.
Failing that, you can eBay Galaxy USB Jig that plugs in and forces Download Mode.
If you can get to Download Mode, I have written a solution to flash just the ROM.
You can read my solution by following the Link above your post
Have a great day!

[SOLVED] Soft bricked i9000 - already tried several solutions, what now?

Hello everyone,
It seems I managed to soft-brick my i9000 today. I was checking out the list of firmware available here and chose the Gingerbread 2.3.6 MultiCSC ROM for Europe. I also wanted to re-partition the device and I used the s1_odin_20100803 file during the installation process.
With the Odin v1.82 version provided in the topic, I rebooted the phone in the Download mode and it was quickly recognized by Odin. I put each file in place and started the flashing process, and I received the following messages:

I get the soft brick image when I turn on the phone, and now I have several details that might give you an easier time when providing solutions:
The phone still boots in Download mode and it gets warm while it's connected, so it should also charge.
The phone is still seen by Odin when I connect it in Download mode.
I already had the required USB drivers installed and I have also installed the Nexus S ones after the brick (I've read somewhere they could help).
I tried the OneClick UnBrick tool and I get the "Failed" message.
I tried flashing the s1_odin_20100512.pit file on its own, as I've seen in an unbricking guide here, with no results.
The phone was rooted and it was running a custom ROM, above 4.0.0, although I am not sure at the moment what ROM was installed.
I used an original cable, and tried all the ports on my laptop (the only device I have available), running Windows 10 64-bit.
What should I try now? Thank you all for your help.
----------
Edit 17:39:
The phone started, and I have done the following in order to achieve this, although I am not sure about the fact that I've done the right things:
I decided to go with this guide and performed the steps listed there. First time, i left the "kernel" uncapitalized and the cmd returned the "Partition "kernel" does not exist in the specified PIT. Ending session... Releasing device interface..." message. I discovered that "KERNEL" might be a solution and decided to go with it. This time, the cmd returned the "ERROR: Protocol initialisation failed!" Releasing device interface..."
I took the battery off in order to get rid of the Download mode, and just put it back in. Then, I connected the phone via USB and the charging image appeared. Then, the phone booted normally. I'm still not convinced about what solved this.

eMMC Write Fail bug Fixd :) Tried it on sm-n910G , SM-n910P Sm-910F

Is your note 4 doesn't boot ? shows eMMC error ? then you are in right place
To repair such , you need ODIN , stock cable and mobile driver installed and the most important repair Firmware( 4Files Firmwares (PDA,AP,Modem,Phone,CP,BL,Bootloader,CSC,PIT Files)for it
(This Method is only for Pro users who know how to flash kernels Bootloader using ODin and should be perform with the caution )
So the tutorial is as follow
Get a Repair Firmware Of Your model number
==================
A) SM-N910F
https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=24407100847294341
B) SM-N910G
https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=24411628330025773
C) SM-910P
https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=24591020540821805
Now extract it in a folder . open Odin and choose the files i.e BL, AP, CP, PIT according to Odin option .
Now tick F.reset Time , Re-Partition ,
dont tick the "autoreboot option"
Once the flashing done . remove the cable from your device and remove the battery . insert it back to the device and boot into recovery via volume plus + menu and power button combination
now chose wipe cache and data reset . done
it should be fine
otherwise you could flash back the stock firmware (the one you downloaded )without the pit file
DONE
PS-special Thanks to tsar3000 for files
I have the Australian Note 4 - SM-N910G and decided to give the 4.4.4 repair firmware a try.
So far, so good!
(My phone previously had the emmc failure error. It exhibited the common issues such as reboots, crashes, freezes/non-responsiveness, wouldn't wake up from deep-sleep)
Unfortunately, the issues are back. Since yesterday, I've had to do 3 or 4 battery-pulls (phone would crash and freeze, or turn off).
If I reboot the phone, it will not do a normal boot-up, I have to pull out the battery, wait for 1-2minutes and plug the battery back in and phone will do a normal boot.
If I shut down the phone, it will not do a normal boot if I press the power button, I have to do a battery pull.
Battery is brand new, genuine Samsung, only two weeks old.
So yeah, I've resigned to the fact that my motherboard is most likely faulty.
EDIT - just to clarify, the repair firmware will probably sort your phone out if you had a bad odin flash or failed OTA update, something software related.
But if it's a hardware failure, better send back to Samsung.

But if it's a hardware failure, better send back to Samsung.

well..for me there is no lagging or freezing ..but there's a workaround for your problem.. download wake Lock- Powermanager and set partial Wake Lock option hope this will fix the issue ASAP
well as far I recon, only snapdragon variants are effected with this crazy time machine bug around the globe . its more like a BOMB with a time machine. after 1yr or 2 "eMMC read fail" or Write fail " . The quality of hardware or software from Samsung has decreased a lot( i.e latest example is note 7 battery explosion )
The more I see and think about this problem, it reminds me of a problem HP had with some of its laptop.(I had one). They use to run very hot and eventually the solder joints under the GPU would gap. You would have to heat the chip with a heat gun and rig up a heat sink to get them working again.
Now I'm not saying that's what's happening, but I noticed these phones get really hot flashing deodexed roms. And just wondering if this could be a possibility, that the emmc chips are getting hot and breaking solder points.
Just an idea, or the chips are just bad.
You might be on to something. I had to do that exact same repair on an HP laptop some years ago. My Note 4 has always run a little hot, perhaps over time the heat has damaged its guts?

As far as I am aware, flashing Repair Firmware can only be done via Odin software, which requires a PC.

Will this work for n910t?
This method didn't work for me ( I was still getting write error when trying to flash) But I solved it another way:
I installed Philz touch recovery and used option "clean for rom installation" which formats absolutely everything (minus important stuff like efs) and then I used the emergency recovery option from Kies and it all worked fine.
Thanks
The above didn't work for me (but, thanks for the extra option though) tried the initial one also. Anyone else got any ideas - although I must confess I did use the wipe option in TWRP (I'm guessing that's the same).

The first option didn't work either- mine gets part way through and then fails.
Secure check fai: PIT
Hi
I have tried your proposed method,
But I got the following error " Secure Check Fail: PIT"
The Thing is my friend's note is broken, and TWRP 3.0.2 is installed and I'm stuck at boot loop
One more things my dumb friend installed a SM-N910P Firmware On SM-N910F Note.
So what should I do to fix this problem, thank you very much.

Can you still enter download mode?
Try a emergency recovery within Samsung Smart Switch on a PC with the serial number.
This will restore everything to factory defaults.
