There is a fix for people running Windows 8.1 who want to fastboot flash their phones.
It is fairly technical, so DO NOT attempt if you don't know what you are doing.
I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY DAMAGE DONE TO YOUR COMPUTER.
Click Start, click Run, type regedit in the Open box, and then click OK.
Locate and then click the following subkey in the registry:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\UsbFlags
On the Edit menu, point to New, and then click Key.
Type 0BB40FF00100
for the name of the new key. (those are zeroes)
On the Edit menu, point to New, and then click “Binary Value”.
Type SkipBOSDescriptorQuery
for the name of the Binary Value, and then press ENTER.
Right-click SkipBOSDescriptorQuery, and then click Modify.
In the Value data box, type 01 00 00 00 , and then click OK.
Exit Registry Editor.
Unplug and re-plug your phone (if it was plugged in.)
I hope this helps!

I had to do a little work to get this fix to work, because when the phone is plugged in and in fastboot mode, it doesn't list a VID/PID/REV in device manager. The VID is 0BB4 (for HTC) / the PID is 0FF0 (which I am assuming is the Vivid, but only in fastboot mode. The phone in normal mode gets a PID of 0CBB) / the REV number is 0100 (for my phone. If this fix doesn't work, then this is most likely the reason: you have a different REV number.)
Yo any tips for getting my Windows 10 x64 to recognize my HTC Vivid in Hboot/Fastboot?
I can mount fine from recovery, but I think there is something wrong with the recovery, and I can't reinstall it from recovery.

Hi,
Can anybody please help me with this proble,
I am freaking.
I bought the phone SX 66 (Cingular) a week back and thought will download some cool things in the weekend.
I thought of upgrading the Rom.
The sequnce was confusing.
So I downloaded BAUpgradeUt file , EntelBL, GetDeviceDte, HTCRUU.DLLHTCRUU.cnf and xda3nbftool files on to a temp folder.
I guess I executed the BAUpgradeUt file (with Activesync on) and the phone was on the cradle connected to my laptop.
It restarted and went to a mode where the screen started showing USB v2.07
I removed the battery and tried restarting by pressing the power button, it showed serial V2.07 (as it was not connected to the cradle)
I waited for the battery to dry down but nothing is happening.
Now when i connect it back to cradle, it says USB V2.07
I am really worried.
Its a little difficult to understand fro the XDA forums, so can anyone help me step by step on how to fix this.
I mean which file do i need to execute.
Should i disconnect anything?
Pls explain in detail as i will miss out again and dont want to loose this.
I have unlocked this successfully erlier
Awaiting the earliest reverts
Thanks
Abhi

1. Download mtty v1.42 from http://files.pdamobiz.com/ROMs/XDA/mtty1.42.rar
2. Stop ActiveSync, by Task Manager (press Ctrl + Alt + Delete)
kill two processes rapimgr.exe and wcescomm.exe
3. put your device into the cradle
4. Run mtty (from downloaded) Choose WCEUSBSH001
5. type "set 14 0" without the quotes to tell bootloader to boot the OS after reset.
6. type "task 28" to get your device formatted
7. type "task 0" to ask your device reboot
8. take the device out of the cradle, and manually reset it if it does not do that already.
good luck.
Hi Midget, Thank you for the patience and being there.
I am sorry but I am still stuck with this.
Like mentioned by you,
1. downloaded mtty1.42.rar onto a temp fold on my laptop
2. Stopped wcescomm.exe from taskbar(the rapimgr was not running so dint get it)
3. Device was put into cradle (was saying USB v 2.07)
4. I executed the mtty1.42 extracted file(application)
("This is where I got stuck")
I got
open port setting popup
a. Asked me for Port (options were COM1,2,3 and USB)
I selected USB
b. Asked me for Baud:
I selected 115200
c. Databits = 8bits
d. Stopbits = 0bits
e. Localecho=No
f. Flow Control=None
e.Parity=None
When I say Ok, It opens me a window of Multi Port TTY Version 1.42 and within that there is another window that is opened that says
USB115200 N-8-1 and its a blank notepad kind of a file
(Do I need to type in anything into this and save and and download?)
5. U have instructed me to
a. Choose WCEUSBSH001 (where do i choose this from?)
b type "set 14 0" without the quotes to tell bootloader to boot the OS after reset. (where do I do this)
c. type "task 28" to get your device formatted (where)
d. type "task 0" to ask your device reboot (where)
6. take the device out of the cradle, and manually reset it if it does not do that already(I was not able to reach this stage).
Please take a little time in guiding me and sorry if I have been troubling you with basic questions and I m very worried and want to fix this sooner.
Also is it required for the phone to be charged suring this process and is it mandatory that I should ensure that it reads USB v2.07 while it is on the cradle?
Awaiting ur instructions and Thanks again s much

I ****ed my BA like this guy and found this solution via google.
It worked perfectly. God bless you sir.
Stuck in Serial
The BA that I have killed is stuck in "Serial, v2.07". Placing it in a USB cradle does nothing. I have tried to connect using a cable I purchased, but I think I need a straight thru cable and I only have a null modem.
I want to verify that I should be able to connect via serial and do the same process?
Thanks.
padapa
i had ewhat a similar issue, my problem was caused by windows vista....not sure if thats what your issue is, but if you are running vista try this...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=291723
still in stuck serial
After a long break, I'm back to trying to recover this BA that is stuck in bootloader. I've read wiki's and forum posts till I'm blue in the face. I have two BAs, one with WM2003 and the "stuck one".
If I put the good BA into the cradle, it starts Activesync and the USB driver and I can connect via mtty and see the good BA, the "stuck one" does not start anything.
If I plug in my serial cable and put in the good BA, I see the "CLIENT" message. When I put in the "stuck one", I see nothing and typing the codes does nothting.
Any ideas would be greatfully appreciated.
Padapa
check the bottom PC IO/Connector of the BA physically for broken "pins"

HOWTO: Reinstall existing ROM without touching Extended ROM or Upgrading/Downgrading
The following methods allow you to get rid of all user data on the device (except for memory recognised by the resident system as being storage cards).
>>> METHOD A -> Device Only (recommended, faster)
1) Use two fingers to simultaneously press the RECORD and CAMERA buttons of the phone (on the phone's left side). Whilst these two buttons are depressed, use the stylus to click the soft-reset button underneath the phone - keep the two buttons depressed until the boot loader screen appears.
2) This should enable three options on the boot screen. These options allows a YES/NO response. Use the RECORD and CAMERA buttons to navigate between the options, and switch the YES/NO values. Set the following:
1] Enable KITL: NO (this is a debug tracing option which isn't required, except possibly for developers)
2] Format Registry Hive: YES (clears the registry)
3] Format Storage: YES (formats the internal memory: "\" directory, and under "\RamDisk\". Items under any storage card "\Storage Card\" are not formatted).
3) Once these options are set, press the MAIL button (in between today and the Pocket IE button) to confirm these options, and continue with the Registry and Storage format.
4) The device performs the reset, and the Windows CE setup screens (ie. screen alignment etc.) appear. Continue as per a new install.
>>> METHOD B -> Mtty
1) Kill activesync processes: Ctrl+Shift+Esc in Windows to bring up Task Manager. Kill wcescomm.exe and WCESMgr.exe (by selecting the task on the processes tab, and clicking the End Process button below)
2) Phone needs to be POWER + Record + Pen Reset and on Serial/USB screen. COnnect it to the PC, and it should show USB, with the backlight remaining off.
3a) Run mtty1.42.exe. (or the attached mtty application)
b) Select USB from first list (where COM1 is displayed. Don't press USB button). If USB (or a list item containing USB) isn't in the list, then you have't connected to the PC properly.
(Leave default parameters: 8 bits / Flow Control NONE / Stop bits 1 / Parity None / Local Echo No)
c) Click OK
3) Run following commands:
[press enter first to get USB> prompt]
USB>
5. type "set 14 0" without the quotes to tell bootloader to boot the OS after reset.
USB>set 14 0
HTCST ÚÈHTCEUSB>

7. type "task 0" to ask your device reboot

8) Exit the program, then re-hard-reset (POWER + Record + Pen Reset), leaving on USB screen in order to run ROM Flasher

I have the same problem with my O2 XDA IIs, this is how I resolved the problem.
1- Take the battery out
2- Put Battery on while holding onto Power Button and Record
3- Now the PC shoud recognise a Windows CE USB
Now you can updategrade or downgrade.

After step 4. mtty alerts with "USB port cant open". What now?
On your phone, when connected, ensure that at the top of the screen, it says "USB", not "Serial". Also ensure you've killed the ActiveSync processes properly.
Also consider:-
* Are you able to use ActiveSync to sync when not following this process?
* Does USB appear in mtty as a connection option?

Hi,
Just something strange happened. I wasn't experiencing any problems at all but suddenly when I tried to boot my TP2 it got stuck in the bootloader (at least that's what I think)
It's a red, green, blue, white screen and the message i've got is:
Serial
I already managed to flash the standard ROM again but that didn't help. Anyone knows an other solution? I really hope my phone isn't ****ed up :'(
Thanks in advance and you can expect a donation if you can help me fix my device again
Edit: some more information.
How it exactly happened: I had the EnergyROM running on my device and shut the device down correctly. I removed my battery, Sim card and MicroSD card. After that I've put the battery back in, connected with USB and it didn't went any further than the bootloaderscreen. Since than I've managed to flash some other ROM's on my device but I never managed to get further than the bootloaderscreen saying the above. The latest ROM I have flashed is the standard ROM.
Nobody? I'm really desperate. If it even would be possible to flash the standard spl back without synch or booting the device would help me a lot because than I could just send it back to HTC
Thanks in advance
Does it say RUUNBH on the screen anywhere?

I got the message everything went fine:

After that I did a soft reset but it is still the same message as before:

I have the same problem with my S5830. Any solution?
hi I can't see the hidden menù after pressing the code in the dialpad, sorry for my bad english i'm Italian
Hello to everyone, Im posting here because I cannot make a question to the post related to what I need (http://forum.xda-developers.com/cro...ad-progress-please-leave-im-updating-t2871269), sa basically, I need to unlock the GSM 1900 band to use it in Chile (Entel company).
What do I need? Im still having some problems about understanding the adb terminal. Can someone help me with this please?
These are the steps to unlock the bands **My doubts are in red-bold and enumerate**
"Download this zip Google it as it's banned from xda for the ability of imei change
2. Extract it and install QPST from that zip
3. Open the caller app and type in *#*#8778#*#* (it should go off the screen after you type in the last symbol "*"
3.5 Those on custom roms (tested on cyanogen 11 with s4 mini) can use the efs professional toolkit to change the mode to enable the diag port.(Thanks @blackburn !)
4. Connect your phone to your PC ( 1)HERE, in which mode do I have to connect my phone to the computer?)
5. Open ADB console ( 2) From the folder of the adb program, right? pressing SHIFT + RIGHT CLICK?)
6. Type in these commands: ( 3) Can I type these commands from my phone? from the Terminal Emulator for example? Like in the step 34 of this guide???)
Code:
adb shell
su
setprop persist.usb.eng 1
Click to collapse
7. Turn off USB Debugging, Disconnect your phone from the PC
8. Wait about 10 seconds (don't have to be exact, just let it all disconnect in the PC) and turn USB Debugging back on
10. Connect it back to the PC. It should try to install drivers. Wait until it fails to install all of them.
11. Open device manager - you will see your device model a few times. Go to details tab. Scroll down a single time on that tab. You will see MI_0x there.
12. Go through those devices until you find MI_04 under the second drop down position. ( 4)For what does this MI_04 stands for?)
13. Select "update driver" for this device and install the htc driver from the zip.
14. Press start button and navigate to QPST -> QPST Configuration
15. Go back to device manager -> modems -> HTC
16. Find "COM*" in my case it was "COM3". It might be different for you.
17. In QPST Configuration click on "Add new port" and in "Port" type in your "COM*". In my case It's "COM3" in there. In Port label it could be anyting u want. In my case I used a Z1 so I typed IN "Z1".
18. It should look like this now.
19. Navigate to QPST/bin and open RV_NV_Manager.exe
20. press on settings -> Comport and choose your COM port.
21. Press on file -> read from phone
22. Wait patiently until it is finished. Now pay attention!
23. Go to line 1877, click it and copy the decimal number on the right side of a programme. right click - copy
24. Go to the place where you extracted the zip from the first step and start mzTool
25. On the left side you will see "Input radix" - press decimal there. ( 5) For example, if the hole number is "153546.256", the decimal should be "256", right?
26. On the right side you will see "RF BC CONFIG" paste your previously copied number from the RV_NV_Manager.exe there.
27. You will see now what bands are you able to use on the bottom of the app in "Bit information"
28. Switch tab to "Band Preference (NV Value)"
29. In there select all GSM bands and WCDMA bands. This place is really a field of testing. In my case (C6903 LTE) I selected all of GSM and WCDMA. I wouldn't suggest you to do anyting else in here unless you know what your'e doing. Let me know if you got something interesting in there.
30. After you're done choosing what bands do you want - copy decimal number from the bottom right ( 6) Here I really need and example or a major explanation, in macro detail :c)
31. Remove all commas from that number ( "," ) so it would be just a bunch of numbers without anything else. ( 7) A bunch of number like this 524356??
32. Open RV_NV_Manager.exe from the point you left it (step 23) and paste your new number without commas "," there.
33. Press on write NV and then press on file ->write changed NV to the phone.
34. Open up the terminal emulator on your phone and write there this: ( 8) This is what I was refering to! Why it can be done directly from the phone? Can I do the step 6 from the Terminal Emulator of the phone too??)
Code:
su
setprop persist.usb.eng 0
Click to collapse
35. Reboot the device and hope you'll have the reception. If you do, hooray!
36. Type in *#*#SERVICE#*#* (*#*#7378423#*#*) to see your new bands that your phone can use! "
Please help me! I have a basic, baaasic knowledge about this, and there are no videos for the Sprint m8 version :c
If Im posting in a wrong category, my apologies, but I cant comment in the real guide-post to get assitance :c
Thanks in advance.
