I have a Nexus 6, Marshmallow (Build MMB29K). I rooted it using the NRT which installed SuperSU version v2.46. Apparently from the NRT dialogs, the last step of rooting is configuring SuperSU properly.
I get a message that I must update to the latest binaries; but every attempt fails.
I am new at this. Can someone please help?

stop using toolkits, do it the freaking right way. its MUCH easier the right way. use google, search for the latest supersu, download it, flash it in twrp recovery, then reboot. btw, the toolkits version is VERY old. and you trust the toolkit?

I THINK the problem was that TWRP asked if I wanted to install ITS version of SuperSU. I wasn't supposed to allow that; but I did.
EDIT: When I'm nervous, I tend not to read everything carefully.

i just noticed simms linked you to 2.65, i wouldnt recommend you use that unless you need it, its systemless and still working out the kinks.
Looking back on my NRT logs, it DID install 2.64. But as I said, during the TWRP recovery I nervously allowed it to do everything it asked of me. That included installing its own version of SuperSU, which must have immediately overwritten NRT's version.

actually it more likely made some sort of conflict. 2.64 installs in the kernel, twrp put it in the system, but in all the years i have had a smart phone, i have never used twrps root once.

twrps root, never. its always a very old version, so stay away :good:
Hi
i recently had this problem and overcome it by doing the following
open up settings > click on applications > Application Manager > scroll across to all > scroll down to Supersu and click it (should come up with application info) > click remove installed updates
once that is completed i rebooted (may not be need but better to be safe) the opened up supersu again, and installed the binary with the normal procedure and all updated ok
this was done on my Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge running 3.10.61-S6_UniBase_BOG8_v2, Android Version 5.1.1
i hope this helps someone

got the ota today on my phone. is it Marshmellow?
Got it earlier this week.
No, it is not Marshmallow. Marshmallow should be version 6.
Was this question rhetorical? The details are listed in the release notes.
There's some radio related firmware in there for anyone interested. Sometimes that's helpful for people with radio issues.

It'd be nice if there was a method to upgrade modem firmware without needing the entire update.zip. That was certainly always a pro with Samsung devices. Odin was nice but Chainfire's Mobile Odin was noice.
Hello, looking for help.
My daughters Ze551kl had an ota update error resulting in a true cyclic bootloop from asus bootup screen to op system which reboots in about 1 second after flashing the op system background.
I cant unlock the bootlock. No operating system access.
I tried to restore with adb sideload and i get response on a pc and the phone that it installs ok, but the bootloop remains. I put 1531 on via adb and i did get the correct files from asus. I have done this several times. No change.
I can't flash because the bootloader is locked and i cant find an adb bootloader level unlock. Does this exist?
What do you folks recommend?
I cannot install twrp or do flashing of recovery. I can get to fastboot and the recovery options. I have cleared the cashes.
Thanks for any advice.

Hello, almost forgot, do i need to unlock the bootloader?
If the abd transfer has worked and installed the new version, but the bootloop remains, what else can be done? Is this a partition or hardware problem that showed itself during the update process?
You may have bricked it. Personally, I'd send it to Asus, if it's still in warranty, and let them fixit.
Hey guys! I have an Asus Zenfone 2 laser ZE550KL, and I'd like to root it. I tried to root it following this guide:
https://devs-lab.com/root-asus-zenfone-2-laserze550kl.html , because I didn't want to wipe all my data. Unfortunately it didn't work (at least my phone is still alive), and I honestly got angry because I unlocked my bootloader, losing my warranty, and I can't even root my phone without deleting all my data. Can you please, guys, try to do something to make rooting this phone, way more easier and faster? Thank you and have a good day.
Why dont you transfer all of your data to an sd card? And I don't know if rooting the phone without pc is a thing yet..? You could also try doing a backup of your settings and stuff on a sd card, do the root, fetch the backup from the card and execute it. It sould work with some apps from the playstore that don't need root, atleast I think.

You should update your phone to MM and go to the Asus's support page there is a .apk for the bootloader, that application will unlock the bootloader, and you're good to go with rooting and furthermore modifying your phone. But first unlock the bootloader, otherwise you will brick your phone. Trust me official bootloader unloocker works fine.

Just fire up the application and go trough all steps, your phone should reboot. Don't worry, this wont hurt your phone, if you do it the way I wrote it. I'll post the link to the unlock app here later. After that you just go with the adb root method, I'll post the link to that topic here also. Nothing to be afraid of.

Bootboder unlocker works for marshmallow
I would love to know the answer to this ^ question if anyone knows how or if there's a way to do it yet. Thanks a lot.
There's a video on Youtube that purports to point to an APK that lets you root a Vivo XL3 Plus; unfortunately in my experience the APK says it will unlock after you install some crapware, but it never unlocks.
So far neither of my go-to rooting apps (Dr.Fone and Kingroot) have been successful. I'll keep trying and if I can find a way to root my XL3+, I'll post it here.
Did you have any luck yet in rooting the XL3 Plus? Just picked one of these up for my kid. Came with 7.1.2 Feb/18 Security Patches. was looking to root it if possible. Thanks!
~SG
I'm looking to purchase one of these due to the fact it has some impressive specs, but $$$ is a little limited right now & my current device (an HTC Bolt) is a POS, even rooted, RE-rom'd & various mods, I've been slightly less than happy with it, now it has a small crack in the screen & the display looks like X-mas packaging, but can someone, anyone post a rooting method for this device.....PLEASE??? I've got to have root for my devices so I can have some control over them....
Responce?
Anyone know yet? That would be awesome...

Guys , The UPDATE Version RMX1921EX_11_A.16 fixed all issues relating to unlocking and rooting.
Fingerprint works, no lock screen pin error, no magisk installation error (fix for core only mode is below) , safetyNEt bypass also works.
.
Here is the step by step guide.
1- Update to firmware version RMX1921EX_11_A.16. link available in reame website (fingerprint fix is fixed from updates here after)
2- Unlock bootloader
3- Flash twrp by thesprintster, https://forum.xda-developers.com/realme-xt/development/recovery-unofficial-twrp-realme-5-pro-t3985459
4 -flash magisk
5- Flash magisk Core-only fix (this fix is for 5 pro, however i have tried and it works for xt https://drive.google.com/file/d/108eV7pOuX50wQeO84kxmW-wQbZVdx0DZ/view
6-Reboot
Done.
If magisk shows core-only mode, go to settings and untick coreonly mode, enable magisk hide and reboot.
everything should be working now.
when you boot back to recovery the second time, twrp might be lost. flash it again. it will work perfectly from there after. worked for me at least.
This is how i rooted my phone today. I'm not a expert or anything. I took a leap of faith and moved forward.
For those who are going to it, I won't take responsibility if your phone breaks, so try it on your own risk.
Comment your result below, so others can try it out.
