"Google Play services has stopped" messages - Nexus 6 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I've been getting random "Google Play services has stopped" messages for the last couple of days. Anyone else getting this message? I read that uninstalling updates but that option is greyed out and not available. I tried clearing cache but that doesn't help. Phone is rooted, running stock kernel. Thanks.

Try to uninstall GP services with for example "Root Uninstaller" and install it again or if you want you can install it to /system/app later.

[Q] Google Play crashes when downloading/updating

Hi, all. After using lucky patcher to custom patch Google Play to not automatically update, Play crashes instantly when it tries to download/update. After uninstalling/reinstalling, still doesn't work. In Lucky Patcher, it says "Application was formerly modified. odex-file not found"
Any ideas?

[Q] Play Store (Download Manager) Crashing

Hey all,
I started futzing with Play Services and the Store and Search in an attempt to fix the nlpWakelock battery usage issue I'd been having on my Moto X, and I can't seem to get it all working again. I can launch the Play Store, but when I attempt to download an app (or update), it crashes (Unfortunately, Play Store has stopped)
I did some noodling around on various forums here and have tried:
wiping data/cache on Store, Download Manager, and Services
uninstalling Store, uninstalling Play Services, and sideloading them both (Store and Services).
removing and re-adding my google account, even trying to download an app with a different acct crashed it.
converting Play Store to a system app in TiBu, no dice.
Moto X
4.4 Rooted
Play Store v: 4.5.10
Play Services v:4.2.43
edit: Download Manager v: 4.4-5
I was going to uninstall the store and look for the apk for the previous version and attempt to install that to see if it'll work..
any ideas?
worst case scenario I can do a TiBu backup and factory reset, but my question there is... will I need to re-root 4.4? (probably, right?)
thanks all!
josh
Alright so I used TiBU to removed Download Manager and Downloads... and now the Play Store doesn't crash, if I try to Download something it just hangs on "downloading" and never starts... I grabbed two APKs from this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-4/help/request-download-service-apk-to-fix-t2421314
and used root explorer to move them into sys/app and install.. DownloadProvider.apk and DownloadProviderUI.apk ... but I can't seem to get them to install.
any ideas?
thanks!
josh
Thanks for publishing it even it help me to know about download manager..

I couldn't Install Play Store Services from Play Store. It was showing as "already installed". So I downloaded an apk file of Play Store Services and installed. That didn't work. Then I tried factory resetting. That didn't work too. I was not able to login to my google account. There were 2 google settings icon in the app drawer too. I suppose it happened because I tried to install the apk file.
Then I did format system and reinstalled my OS. Now my phone is working fine.

[Q] xposed framework causing "Authentication is required" error on Google play

[Q] xposed framework causing "Authentication is required" error on Google play
After I upgraded the firmware on my xperia z1 (c6903) to android kitkat 4.4.4 romaur v9.1 the Google playstore gives me the error "Authentication is required. You need to sign in to your Google Account".
I have tries different solutions I found online. Force the app to stop and clear the data. Uninstalling updates of the playstore. Removing my Google account and adding it again. When I tried to add my Google account again it gave me an error saying it couldn't connect to the Google servers.
After some screwing around with reflashing roms I found out that if I disabled the xposed framework the playstore and all other Google apps would work like normal again. Does anyone know how to fix this?
P.S. I found a solution already. I just remembered how I had the same with just the youtube app before. I accidentally prevented the Google play services and playstore from running in the "prevent running" module.

Play store installation error 501

I got an error 501 when installing apps from play store, i could not find any help.
I had tried deleting data and cache of play store but it did not work. I also had tried deleting data of google framwork and checkin. I need help badly.
*Fixed*
Go to setting > Apps > Download. Find the apps that still running as "com.app" and uninstall is.
Nexus 5 here (Android 5.1)
Hi!
I see you figured it out, but I can't see how... What do you mean by Download and "com.app"? I don't see anything like that in my settings...
Regards,
Jeffrey
Yeah it is working, instruction;
settings-->application mamager-->downloaded--> find app name that you are trying to install, for example if you are trying to install evernote, and getting 501 error, you will see it like this ''com.evernote'' at that section. Probably it is residue from previous installations that cause error. Click on and uninstall it, after that play store will let you to install that app witohout any error.
