[Q] Help Unrooting AT&T Galaxy S5 - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S 5

Could anyone please help me complete unroot my AT&T Galaxy S5. I would like to trade out in at AT&T but first need to completely unroot and revert back to stock touchwiz. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

there is a guide on the forums on reverting to stock for warranty or trade in purposes, it involved downgrading to the NCE firmware, i did once, and i have all at&t apps, it was like i had just bought the phone.

Would you happen to have a link? I searched xda and only found ones that haven't been answered yet. Sorry I'm kinda a noob at this.

This should be the stock firmware. I haven't tested it though.

Thank you...
I didn't realize there was a newer firmware for it though... i believe i had the jj7 one (p1000UGJJ7) or somewhere in the JJ range.. lol.
I will grab that right away.
Thanks!
Can you comment on whether JM7 is the correct firmware for Bell users? I need to submit mine for warranty, too.

I dont' know if it is... I did go from a JJ firmware (can't remember if it was 3 or 7) directly to roto's jme.
According to samfirmware, there is the jj3 and then it goes to jm9.
At least these are for the "americas" versions.. i don't recall my tab being named p1000L, although it probably was..
No, the L version is for Latin "Americas" so that version is likely not for Bell users. I am fairly sure the stock Bell firmware is JJ7 which isn't available for some reason on Samfirmware.com... Is it possible for someone to use RotoBackup to dump a stock (or rooted stock) JJ7 and us use that to restore to it?

Ahh that explains it.. thank you.
I presumed then that our bell tab's were P1000M (as is the Galaxy S being an M).
Let's hope someone has a bell stock roto backup.
I just bought one today to try out. I've already installed Apps and such. But I can reset it then do this roto backup. What are my steps, I won't lose root if I do a factory reset right, but do I need to do that?

Hi there.
That's great, thank you!
If you do a quick search for rotobackup, that will explain how to do the backup.
Here's the Link to Rotobackup.
You have to be rooted to do the backup.
I don't believe you will lose the root, although its not hard to re-root
I haven't done the backup myself but will attempt to so I can do the next upgrade.
thanks again!

**** sorry, forgot to do this earlier. I just returned the tab back to the store. Again, sorry
I should have a backup of a mostly vanilla (few apps, that sort of thing) Bell tab from Dec. I'll have a look tomorrow when I'm back on my office computer.

Much appreciated.
Any update on this? I'm desperate here.
Well, I had a look at my backup and it's not completely vanilla (rooted, couple apps) but if it'll help, I can package it up and upload it somewhere. Let me know. Sorry it took so long, it was on a portable drive that I'd loaned out, thought I had it on my desktop as well!

Hey there.
That would be great. In fact once reflashed we can always do a factory reset.
I'm not sure how big it would be nor do i know where one can send the file. Perhaps that multiupload site. Ive never used it so i dont know off hand.
Really appreciated!
Thanks!

I have a rooted Bell SGT with some applications installed. Let me know if I can be of any help. I haven't done a device backup or anything like that before, although I do a lot of this on BlackBerry devices - it won't be difficult for me.
Anyway, let me know if I can be of any help!

[Q] Rooting Verizon Galaxy Tab with 2.3.5

I just bought a bunch of tabs for my business. I rooted one before I updated it and it worked fine, but wouldn't update. I then updated one and now it won't root.
I'm really a total noob when it comes to rooting. I haven't even touched flashing. I would rather keep it as stock as possible. I'm mostly rooting it to remove bloatware. Anyway, if anyone has any ideas, please help.
I've run superoneclick 2.2 and run zergrush, but that seems to stall out.
Currently, the only way to root 2.3.5 is to flash a pre-rooted rom. I'm using "Galaxy Cubed" you can find it under dev section.

I hate to ask, but is there a decent guide to doing that? Also is the process reversible?

[Q] What is my kernel version so I can root?

Under my kernel version it says 2.6.35.11 and there is no K or anything letters. How do I know what kernel version I have? I am trying to root. I've done it to my last few phones but this one is seeming more difficult and the directions are more mixed and complex.
Go ahead and post a pic of your about phone screen..just make sure to get the bottom section where its at.

Dont use N7000 rooting method OR Dont use any ROM available for N7000.
This is the forum you need to follow

Thank you for the help. I was already in that "AT&T Galaxy Note I717 Android Development" forum and I had already rooted and installed a kernel and ROM on before reading this last message. I had saved this forum before the phone came out for AT&T so I wasn't aware they started a separate one. Thanks guys.

Samsung s4 root question
AT&T just replaced my S4 because of a constant reboot problem. The phone was rooted I used Wondershare to backup the bad phone. My question I have this new S$ and would like to have it rooted and also restore my app backup from Wondershare which is on my laptop. Is there anyone out there that can assist and certainly I will pay, just want someone reputable. Any thoughts and advice would be much appreciated. Chuck
Hey, sorry, don't know how you can restore it! Although you might get a little more attention if you make a thread for this in the Q&A section. Hope that you get answers! Good luck with phone #2!

For some reason the second thread is missing, I cannot find it anywhere. If you're trying to root the i537, then use the first link. If you're trying to root the i9295 try using this method

Big question regarding Root on S5 Active

Hello forum. I recently bought a At&t Galaxy S5 Active from a friend. The thing is I'm guessing he updated it because it's running 5.0 lollipop and if I'm correct stock for this phone is kitkat? So my big question is this, is there any possible root for an S5 active phone already running 5.0? I here some people saying something about flashing back to stock but I also here it can cause problems if trying to downgrade. I hope someone can clear this up a bit for me as I really want root. Thank you!

0c5?
You should be able to downgrade to 4.4.2 then upgrade to 5.0 rooted rom. http://forum.xda-developers.com/att-galaxy-s5/general/how-to-update-to-g870aof2-5-0-keeproot-t3161733
Read step 4. In the notes on how to downgrade first.
If you want to use xposed framework, use the de-odexed rom
Instructions for xposed. This is working. http://forum.xda-developers.com/xposed/unofficial-xposed-samsung-lollipop-t3113463
