Just picked up a Droid Turbo. I noticed when I have the phone in vibrate mode, I get a double buzz for EVERY notification on my phone, even on apps where I've specifically made sure to not enable vibrate.
For example, in the Messaging app, I've selected a notification sound, enabled notifications, but did not check the box next to vibrate. When I get a text, I get the double vibrate.
Is there something I'm missing, or is this a Moto bug/"feature"?
Unless you disabled notification sounds as well for the apps you are mentioning, you are describing the expected functionality for Android. Vibrate mode replaces all notification sounds with a vibrate patter. It does not simply disable sounds and leave only vibration preferences active.

Strange, I've had an LG and an HTC in the past and both behaved that way, where when vibrate mode was selected, it responded to each apps preferences.
Example scenario.
Gmail vibrate on notify, play sound on notify.
Google plus no vibration on notify, play sound on notify.
When in vibrate mode, id get buzzed for gmail as well as a notification icon, but for google plus id only get the notification icon.

I've just flashed Phoenix 5.2 on my phone, but for some reason if my phone is in silent mode I get absolutely no vibration when I get a SMS message. I've checked the sound settings and the settings within the messages app itself but for the life of me I can't find where to turn vibrations on! If anyone could help me, that'd be fantastic!
Thank you!

If it's on silent mode, it is set so that no vibration notifications come in. You need to put your phone in vibration mode
Is there a vibration mode at all? I'm using the silent mode that you can get to by using either:
1. Sideloader
2. Top menu
3. Lock screens
When I used to be on Cognition, the silent mode automagically put everything in vibrate mode (to my memory)... Or I must've changed a setting somewhere to make it vibrate instead of making no sound/vibrations whatsoever.
Menu>Settings>sound>vibration > ALWAYS or ONLY IN Silent or ONLY not silent
if that just isnt doin it for you try the app "SMS pop up" it will take over the notifacations at the top and you can control the vibration how you want, with reminders if you dont answer right away and pop up windows with the txt, with privacy mode if lock screen is on, custom ring tones for custom people ect...
if you use sms pop up disable the regular sms notifacation.
SMS app> menu button>settings> notifacation

Thanks for that! I've also found out what the problem was! I've had "ALWAYS" on all the time!
The silent mode in Sideloader and Top menu makes it vibrate, but the Lock Screen's "Silent Mode" makes the whole phone just go mute.
I've had the Lock Screen set to the new 'Rotary Lock' that's available in Phoenix 5.2... and it seems to be only that Lock Screen's Silent Mode that causes this problem.
Silent Mode with the normal Android Lock Screen works fine (with vibrations and etc)
Hello, I'm using the latest gmail app - can anyone tell me how to possibly have my HTC One vibrate only for all incoming email when on the vibrate profile? I have put the phone in vibrate mode, and in the gmail app I have label notifications checked, a notification sound enabled but vibrate unchecked, and notify for every message checked in notifications as well as in label settings per the instructions from google (it's supposed to follow the logic that if you have a sound enabled then when you put the phone in vibrate mode it will just vibrate instead of play a sound, unfortunately this does not happen). I would like to have my gmail set up as follows:
Normal mode - just play a sound, do not vibrate for new email messages
Vibrate mode - just vibrate for new email messages
Silent mode - No sound or vibrate
The way things are working currrently are as follows:
Normal mode - just plays a sound (will also vibrate if I check off vibrate)
Vibrate mode - does not vibrate for new messages (will vibrate if I check off vibrate, but then this will make normal mode vibrate as well)
Silent mode - No sound or vibrate
You would think this would be easy, coming from iOS I should've known better. Any thoughts from the experts in this group? This is driving me nuts not being able to figure it out. Thanks in advance!
Anyone?

Probably a way to do this in Tasker, not sure of another method without root access and custom ROM or something though.
I am rooted and running ARHD 8.1. I have tasker as well but not sure how that would help.
Good morning fellas, I have an "issue" that is driving me nuts and I hope someone here could give me a solution for this, I will try to explain:
Since Android 5, the notification system has changed and I hate it!
I always (almost) use my phone in "vibrate mode", I like it to vibrate ONLY when I receive a call or SMS. Messaging Apps like Whatsapp/Telegram, I want the notification LED to work,
for that to happen I need to set a notification tone under Settings > Sound and Vibration, but if I set any sound for this and the phone is in vibrate mode, all the sound is converted into a vibration,
even if the options in Whatsapp, for example, was mutted with no vibration and sound at all... with these settings, the LED works like a charm, but the devil vibrations happen aswell and if I set a notification sound to none, the vibrations vanish, but the LED stops working too... it is really boring, the Whatsapp configuration SHOULD (in my opinion) override the System configuration...
I guess you already understood what I want: phone in vibrate mode, with no vibrate in whatsapp, only LED... (I already tried to block vibration permissions for whatsapp with a 3rd party app for rooted devices with no positive result, because it is a system "bug")
The wierdest thing is: before the update to Oreo, it was working the way I want, even with the crap notification system!
That's it... sorry about my english and thanks for now
Thing is, in some Oreo roms for some reason I had to give permission manually to each app to use LED light...
Use VibraFix from play store (root) if you want to disable all vibration, give WhatsApp permission to use LED light and override do not disturb = no vibrations but LED works.
Hi, I recently bought the Honor Play (model COR-L29), which is running EMUI v 9.0.0.156. Having been an iPhone user since it's first release I am struggling to adapt and find the new settings.
1) "Sensitive content" notifications: Notifications don't show any content (just "tap to open") - in settings > Notifications > Lock Screen Notifications I have "Show" selected and in the apps it is also selected. For example, in Messages > Settings > Notifications, they are allowed and "lock screen notifications" are set to "show".
2) Gmail notification numbers: My "App icon badges" are set to "unread messages", and when I have a missed call, new text message etc. a number is shown on the app icon, however with the Gmail app it does not show a number. I have had to use the built-in email app to get this feature working, and as the gmail app cannot be uninstalled I have two apps doing exactly the same function. How can I get the gmail app to show the number?
3) "Volume down" on the lock screen activates the camera. How do I turn this off? I use the SONOS app to control my speakers and lock screen volume control is enabled, but doesn't seem to work unless I wake the screen up, select the notification and then use the volume control. I'd like to be able to just use the volume control if a music app is running.
Thanks in advance!
Edit: I spoke with a friend who's running a different android device and undestand it better now:
The text message content will only show if the device is unlocked (so if I raise it and it scans my face) and this is apparently default and unchangable.
I was able to disable the volume button from activating the camera, and believe it's the SONOS app that is at fault for volume control when locked, as apple music works just fine with the volume control.
Not sure about the gmail app, hopefully it's also not app-specific, so if anyone has any insights that'd be great, I'll also check google support s it's mainly just the gmail app trouble I'm having now.
Thanks
I can't seem to get the vibration notification for Messages app to run. The visual notification comes on the clockface but not soundboard vibration. Is there something im doing wrong? The other app notifications work fine.
In Message app settings on the phone, chat setting, change from default messaging type from auto to text. Also, vibrate on phone for new messages is required to get vibration in watch.
