I am going to buy a new android cellphone tomorrow and after too much research Xperia Z1 is the phone that fits my budget to its worth with specifications. So my question is after approx 1 year is it Still a value for money? Are there any issues i should be worried about?
My alternate to this is LG G2. Thanks in advance.
Get the G2!
You will get a bigger screen, thinner bezels, Better battery life, double tap to wake and it's smaller than the z1
And the z1 has an annoying problem with the touch screen where it stops registering touches for a little while (unimaginably annoying when it happens during scrolling) and the screen looks yellow, that makes my head hurt
G2 have those touchscreen problems too (as I heard)
Maybe you should check on the LG G2's Q/A section and see the problems there (if they have one).

I don't have touch problems. And it will get lollipop update. And don't plan to change it soon

I would find it hard to recommend this phone to anyone.
Just to add to the issues seen by some
I have touch screen issues, in fact the whole screen is crap. The colour and brightness aren't anywhere as good as my wife's Galaxy Note 2 (yes, Note 2, not a typo. A phone more than a year older than my Z1 has a better screen). The touch screen doesn't work properly at all, you just get used it it. It's not accurate and slow to track movement of your finders. Add to that the fact that it seems to completely ignore your touches when you've been using the phone for a bit (possibly temp issues?) and it makes playing games impossible... and like @masterofnocrack said, when your dragging or trying to flick through a long list, it randomly selects something from the list and you've no idea what you just tapped on, it gets more than infuriating.
Locking up - my phone will decide at frequent times to lock up. It will not turn on from sleeping (screen off, standby, whatever it's called). I had resorted to holding VolUp+Power to force it to reboot but then found out that if I just wait it will come back on it's own. It's like some app is using 100% of the CPU and lock's the OS up. I seemed to get the problem most of the time when running apps like Endomondo where it keeps tracking GPS etc while in standby but since uninstalling Endo, its still the same. Not really a Z1 issue but more Firmware, but still a nail in the already tightly nailed down coffin. Also screws with Tasker (see below)...
I did have issues with the OS killing background apps like Tasker (which is really annoying because if Tasker gets killed, all my profiles and settings got messed up so I could be out of the house with no mobile data enabled or in the car with no bluetooth), but I rolled back a ROM version to fix that. (I'm on stock ROM/Kernel but rooted.)
I would sell my own children for a new phone, which is probably a good reason I don't have any kids.
Look somewhere else. If the G2 drops out of the running too, keep looking. DO NOT get a Z1.
I know some will disagree and perhaps think I'm being a bit harsh; and if you've got a Z1 and it works perfectly, good for you and congrats. But knowing what I know now, I wouldn't take the chance of getting a Z1 that has issues.
I have no clue what you are talking about. My wife and I both have a Z1. Hers is running on stock and mine on custom. We never had any of the issues mentioned above. So from my point of view it still is worth the money.
Some have problems and others don't, but it's it worth the gamble?
The OP should save up and get something better like the Z2 or Z3

The answer is.. Yes!
The Z1 is still hell of a beast, performance- and battery wise, around 1 year after release. It's bang for the bucks phone nowadays. Get it, and fine tune it to suit your likings. Nuff' said.
I am willing to help you out with the fine tuning, if you get this lovely ****er into your collection..
I didn't mean to piss on any one's camp fire and I'm glad for @memphis77 that his and his wife's phones both work perfectly, but I know from these forums that there have been plenty of users that have had issues, and even those that have pursued the issues with Sony have just been sent a refurbished phone that had the same issues.
It's just my opinion and personal experience that makes me say do not get a Z1.

It's so beautifull and powerfull. If you love this phone, so buy it. You won't regret it. And of course, it's still worth to buy
I'd say it depends on what you pay for it. I bought mine about a month or two ago for a little over 250 and I couldn't be more pleased.
One more thing to add, and once more, YMMV; piss-poor data rates. WiFi signal is weak at best. The WiFi signal goes down to 1 or zero bars in some rooms in my house but doesn't actually disconnect from the WiFi so the transfer speed is so slow I turn WiFi off and use either H+ or the odd 4G signal I get. You might be thinking "well you're obviously too far away from the router you pillock." Well, maybe an upstairs room is too far... maybe it's not. My wife's Note 2 can still use the WiFi all over the house, my Tab 4 can use the WiFi, my Raspberry Pi with a cheap ass god damn WiFi dongle off eBay can use the WiFi, but not this piece of crap phone.
In a decent H+ signal area, an iPhone 4 beats this with download speeds using mobile data. I have gotten 20Mb/s on 4G (1 bar in my house which was impressive but a fluke as I've never seen that speed again). Looking at speedtest results isn't exactly the be and end all of deciding which phone to get, but it's just another area this phone fails.

I've had several annoying things happen since getting the phone, but overall it's been a great experience. Here's some of the things that are bugging me:
If I leave wifi on, bluetooth audio streaming skips for a second or two whenever a new wifi network is detected. Really annoying when I set up in my car.
The camera has a blueish, cooling tint, and nothing in the settings seems to fix it. I'm having to 'shop all my pictures to bring out the colors correctly.
If I take several pictures (more than 3) and then sleep the phone while the camera is still on, then unsleep, it goes bat****. I've had everything from total unresponsiveness, to green checkers, to complete green screen, and consistent repetitive, unending shutter noises.
The "Gorilla Glass" is scratching - I'm getting nicks and dings and tiny scratches from pocket change, whereas my friend's had a droid incredible for over a year and its screen is flawless. I'm thinking this either isn't Gorilla Glass or it's a bad batch. I'm debating returning it because of this, might just get a screen protector.
Bloatware, lack of root. I've been lazy and avoided installing a launcher (bleh, ok, installing adw now .) Still, I paid good money for this, I expect a little love in return. Foisting off this crap on me isn't a great way to build brand loyalty.
Battery Life varies dramatically. Some days I'll be out taking hundreds of pictures over 4-5 hours and only use 40% or so - other days, I'll take a few dozen and end up using 90% of the battery in less than 2 hours. Definitely some wonkiness behind the scenes.
I'm not unhappy with the phone, overall - it's responsive and the HD video and camera have both served me well. It's just not all that it should be. Root will solve everything except the Gorilla Glass issue.
Feel free to chip in on other problems - it'd be nice to have a focused discussion to reference things wrong with this phone, once we have root.
Gorilla Glass sucks... i have the same... after 2 weeks of keeping it safely in my pocket completly alone... I have scratches... one deep... and few small... the worst is that I can't give it back or exchange it... I live in Poland and bought it from Amazon... ;/
Motorola Sucks... even if I love it! It's my 12 Motorola... maybe the last one??
well i may be wrong but i dont think the droid 3 has gorilla glass... if you go to gorilla glass's website they list the phones that come with it and the only Motorola devices that come with it are the Droid x2 and the xoom.

Well i will agree Motorola does suck right now but.... they were just bought out by google so, google will start making Motorola phones. i have a feeling they will only get better now, and actually might be worth buying.

Wrong.

I have to wonder about gorilla glass QC myself, my DINC looked like I had taken sand paper to it after about a month.
Maybe there's some sort of significant variance that has somehow escaped their notice. I've seen a droid incredible dropped on jagged rocks, gouged at with a pocket knife, poked with keys, and nothing happens, but I've treated my d3 like a baby and it's got a bunch of dings. Nothing that affects the usability, or that you can even see without tilting it to the light in the right angle, but it's definitely not living up to the GGlass hype.
The d3 specs show GGlass.
The screen on my D3 is flawless (no screen protector). I had an Inc before the D3 and didn't have a screen protector on that, either. Nothing could scratch my Inc, and I kept that in the same pocket as my keys. Same with my D3. I've had it for over a month a half now and it is still in perfect condition. Hell, it took getting punched (hard) with an emerald to scratch the glass on my Inc. lol
Yeah I haven't had any real problems either. I've only had 2 random reboots but that was because I was putting a lot of stress on the phone, like running androirc, pandora, and texting all at the same time xD
Sent from my DROID3 using XDA Premium App
I tend to get random reboots while running GPS. Also while in the car dock, the phone just goes wack sometimes. I first thought I didn't have car mode because it doesn't always activate when in the dock. Do you guys know how they trigger it in the D3? in the D1 it was with a magnet so no power was required but for the D3, no power generally means no car mode
I haven't had a problem with screen scratching but I'm paranoid and bought a screen protector off amazon
its called halo screen protectors and it applied really really ez. didn't get bubbles like my old D1. plus it doesn't scratch ez either
I hate screen protectors, none of them make the screen feel like the original. Which is why I go naked . I use a case though.
I've had no random reboots so far, 2 hard reboots as mentioned because I was putting too much stress on the phone
Sent from my DROID3 using XDA Premium App
Had 1 or 2 random reboots. One when unplugging.
Docking seems to be a combination of power and what seems to be an rfid chip in the docks (for the multimedia unit anyhow, it knows one dock from another and can perform different actions for each)
Docking is VERY slow to repond. My old Eris pulls up desk clock faster when docked by nearly 5 seconds. What's up with that Moto??
HATE how the unit unplugs and locks me out of a screen action while it tells me that it has been unplugged in this big green banner at the top. If you unplug to silence or answer an incomming call, you have to wait for the phone to finish telling you it was unplugged before it will answer/silence. Big gripe!
I agree, backup assistant is Pure BLOATED battery waste on this phone. Hate that I have to wait until root to get rid of it! Hint Hint Moto, THESE are the real reasons so many users want root...remember PCs in the 90s with all the useless crap that came with them?
DLNA service constantly runs and polls in the background, even if no accounts are setup. Giant battery drain!
Home screen redraws are off the charts often and slow! This really does have TWO 1Ghz processors, right?? Because it sure doesn't act like it performance wise.
LAG...after selecting camera, gallery, or app drawer. It lags enough that i actaully have time to think it didn't register the touch. Then as i reach to re-touch the launch, it finally starts to launch the selected app/function.
The white theme...give us back real GB dark theme. White is blinding at night, and is excessive on battery draw over a black background. At least let us chose the theme....?
Battery and Data Manager options stink, as does the manager service associated with it. Select no battery management, and the service still runs in the background. If you go into and out of a weak coverage area, the extended network data setting (enable data roaming) unchecks itself, causing loss of data until in home network or you recheck the box. Setting lost again after going to a weak coverage area again. Logcats verify it is the Moto Battery and Data manager service that controls this setting, not the network.
All the other NON-stoppable service bloat on this phone. Factory task killer you can't shut down? WTF happened Moto?
Lots of other little gripes and nit-picks regarding stock GB options masked or disabled by Motorola.
It isn't a terrible phone, but it also isn't terribly impressive either.
After all this time to get this Droid version right, I am totally UNDERwhelmed by this phone. Yes, it works...but not anywhere near as smoothly or fast or refined as the D1 did at its initial launch.
IMHO, this phone wasn't ready for launch when it was sold to customers.
I will see what root and the Devs can do for this phone, but this will officially be my last Moto device unless Google is somehow able to pull this kind of product quality out of the proverbial toilet.
All that, and we are still patiently waiting for bootloader unlock.
Only time will tell

I agree about these items. The bloat is unreal! I thought sprint was bad until I just switched to verizon. I also have had similar battery issues, leaving me alarm-less this morning due to my phone shutting off (I totally thought 30% would get me through the night like it had the previous night). Anyway, with root incoming soon, should be smooth sailing and constant flashing muwaahahahhhhhhaaa. Thanks devs!
ROOTED! And let me say, this thing is much snapper without Borkup Assistant (pun intended) and DLNA. Just dumping those 2 items alone have made a huge difference!!
Can't wait for bootstrap and custom recovery so I can ditch Blur. Gingerbread works, the mess with this phone is Moto itself.
Now that we have root, it won't be long to fix what Moto broke. ;-D

Gripe:
The vibration for the notifications sounds sick. It starts strong and then quickly fades. This is in contrast to my D1 that had a strong buzz for the entire duration (I think it is a second per buzz).

This was a big problem with the D1 if you were not using a correct charger.
Are you using a proper Motorola Droid charger?

My Droid 3 and Droid 2 do this when I leave Wifi on and use Bluetooth to play music over my car's speakers (Ford Sync). I had a Droid X2 however for a couple of weeks and it did not suffer from this problem.
Short version:
Before you bought the Xperia SP, which other mobiles were you taking into consideration and what made you choose (or not) the SP?
Long version:
Here's the thing: today I was ready - I finally went to a shop and proudly said "I want to buy the Xperia SP". Unfortunately they only had the white version so I'll have to wait one more week. This was quite disappointing because I really, really wanted it so badly and since I now have another week to decide maybe there are other/better alternatives among midrange smartphones?
Thanks!
Tons of others phones.
Optimus G, but no card slot. Nexus 4, same problem.
Galaxy S4, unfortunately far too expensive.
MI2-A, no SD slot, again.
Motorola Razr HD, CPU sucks. Same with the HTC One X+.
HTC One? No way to get a 64gb here in ****ty Europe.
So, well, the SP is the only 720p phone with a microSD slot, and a good built quality that I can afford.
Only big problem: devs support. We have DoomLord, but no one else. I'm afraid we will never get CyanogenMod.
Some time ago I've spoken with fxp. They said they need to buy phone to start development.
This device is fresh so don't expect development will start from day of release.
BTW. XSP is middle range device... This is next reason to start development later then e.g. XZ relatively.
I was considering buy N4 or XSP or wait for some time and collect more money and buy SGN2 or XZ.
C5303 is great device, powerfull, supported LTE, nice looking, with 'big' screen, made from good quality materials, with usefull transparent iluminated bar, with good quality camera and other hardware and released with 4.1.2 (Google said that phones need to be upgraded for 18 mounths from release so we can expect something above then 4.2.2 with this specs).

Well I am thinking of getting this one. And I see no existing PA or CM support. But I used to compile my own ROMs for my Nexus (which is dead and the reason why I am getting this one) so I think I can compile for this ROM too, the only difficulty being the illumination bar API, on which I have never wrked till date.
Plus its a relatively new phone, so we will see more action once other devs buy the device too!
Cheers mates!

Are you really going to recant about buying an XPERIA™ SP just for waiting a week to get the color you want? Really? I must wait another half year to get mine and it isn't available here in Mexico still. I don't want to be mean but don't be like that. I'd wish to have your luck, about being in your situation.
There aren't better options for a midrange smartphone with the potential of this XSP, really, it'll be very worthy to wait for it.

... But there is no need to implement illumination api in apps/system in begin stage. First we need fully working cm then we can think about transparent bar and it's lights Think this is not so hard to implement it. As of now, Best mid range phone is still SP. S3 is a bit more expensive, but SP is better than it (except for camera and if you like amoled). If you want you can wait for HTC one mini, although its only 4.3 inches and price is not yet revealed.

I believe the HTC to be far more expensive, without any expansion port, and with a huge bezel.
S3 is a good choice, yea. But the S4 mini is a complete joke. No HD, and the worst pricing ever.
Maybe, for someone that is not in a hurry, waiting for the X Phone could be a good idea. But for now, SP (and S3) rules.
Hmmm, I 1st look at N4, but it cost as much as a XZL, not worth it I guess, but getting either one will blow my budget. so I then get an XV, after three weeks a member of my local Facebook group is interested to swap his SP with My V.. He is a mobile seller who get the SP for free, but he need a waterproof phone as he ride a bike. So that how I get the SP.

well, today I bought the SP - I like it a lot, the only downsides are:
- WIFI signal
- Camera is quite weak
- can't connect it to my Mac?! the option to access the storage in order to transfer files isn't there.. (tg there's airdroid)
I'll try it over the weekend but if the wifi is still an issue (intermittent signal 5m from the router with no walls in between!) I'll give it back and will look for an alternative.. we'll see

Battery: ok, I installed plenty of apps and had exactly 70% left. Oddly enough this morning I had 71% left so there's a calibration issue. Now after 5 hours of occasional 3g, 20 min of offline music and some messaging it's at 29%.
Photos : not impressed
Wifi and 3g: connectivity is very poor.. my old Desire was a lot better and reliable
Screen: it's on auto brightness and honestly note while typing this message the luminosity changed about 10 times, pretty annoying.
Audio: excellent!
Overheating: no
(While writing this message the battery dropped to 26%)
I am seriously considering to give it back, I like the phone but the connectivity issue seems to be h hardware related.. I'm a moment of madness I even thought about buying an iPhone5 instead..

About battery... Battery live is good - 2+ days standard usage: sms, calling, 3g always on, about 50 minutes wifi activity, stamina on, some photos and movies.
And when I got my phone first 2 days was waring... Battery was very week. I have charged my phone about 3-4 times. And on third day battery is ok strange but I'm happy it now working correctly.
Mobile signal is ok. Like in my previous Xperia S.
Wifi is week - waiting for SW update.
Autobrightness must be improved, this is not working properly.
Camera is not so good, waiting for SW update.
Usefull transparent illumination bar. VERY VERY GOOD IDEA TO PLACE IT IN THIS PHONE!!!!

Yep, indeed. Only that it's slightly bigger, heavier and more expensive. But apart from that it looks like the waterproof twin of the SP Actually, if the wifi problems still hold on I might go back to the store and try to get the ZR instead.
Well, today I gave my SP back and fetched a S4 Mini instead.
I'm not saying all SPs have the same issues as mine had, but the ones that I had (below) were pretty severe and after talking twice to the Xperia customer service and 2 factory resets they were like "just return it". I guess I was unlucky but here's what went wrong and what I really liked:
What I liked:
- Battery: after 2 full days I still had 12% left
- Screen: it's simply wonderful
- Call quality: The sound was really really good
What went wrong:
- WiFI was just horrible as I often lost signal even with the router being 3 meters away. I tried changing the router's channel/frequency but that didn't help, even my old HTC Desire has much better WiFI signal.
- Multitasking: Couldn't use 3g with Chrome (2-3 tabs open) and listen to Google Music (playing music from the SD card) at the same time as it always closed Google Music. I guess I should have seen that one coming with 1gb RAM only.
- Call issues: today all of a sudden I could only hear the other person speaking when using headphones or by activating the speaker

i had the G2 and there were many things that i really loved about the phone and there were a few things that i hated. i have switched to the z1 and i love it. the g2 without a doubt had better battery life. i dont turn my screen higher than 40% and i usually lock it to 3g and use wifi at work and at home, so this really helped battery life, but using both phones the same way the g2 was at least 20% better for me. the camera took really good pictures, maybe slightly better than the z1 but it was very slow to lock focus in. the screen was also a bit bigger and better in my opinion.
what i didnt like about the g2 was the lag in the sms app, facebook, or most things that required scrolling. it was very frustrating for me as it killed the everyday experience. even opening the sms app had a long delay. the phone always felt slimy and while the knock on feature works great some of the time, there were many times when it didnt work and this became frustrating. i do think that the g2 will be really good after a firmware update to fix some of these bugs and a slim case would really help with the feel. the last thing that was a deal breaker for me was that every g2 i tried had a creak in the back case, right under the volume down key. just picking up the phone i could feel and hear creaks from the same spot. i actually had two of g2 units. bought a rogers unit without contract at full price and took it back after a few days (had the creak) and then bought a bell unit on kijiji for a good deal and it had the same creak.
the z1 feels much more premium in the hand, which was something i was looking for. the overall operation is much smoother, faster, stable in my experience. i had a rogers z1 for a few days and i found it getting a bit warm quite often, and the battery life stunk (even after doing a software update that was available right after first boot). i took it back and exchanged it for another one and battery life has been much better and the phone does not run as warm. the camera is very fast and after the update takes pretty good shots too.
at the end of the day, it really depends on what you value more. if you strictly need the best battery life, get the g2. if you want a well built and styled device, get the z1.
Thanks for all the info. I was wondering why you have to turn the z1 on 3g and the screen down that much is the battery that bad? I used the g2 for a day and a half with lte on and had no problem. I am definitely looking forward to the feel and build quality of the z1 but if the battery is bad enough that I would have to disable lte them I'm going to have to sell or return it
I use all my phones like that. I would rather extend the Battery life then have screen cranked up and 3g is fast enough for me. I can always switch to lte if I need to download lots of info.
3g on the z1 is actually very fast. I have not done a speed test to measure but I have owned the majority of high end android devices over the years and this feels very fast

Hi to all.
I'm planing to by another phone. Budget is limited so there is not to much to pick.
Xperia seems good option because of big screen, LTE connectivity, premium design, important to me a very good camera and at the end is a flagship, but an old one, and that is my only concern.
So, my question is, should i by some newer(new) budget mid ranger or should give a try to Xperia Z? What is your experience with XZ?
Thanks
Ive had mine for a year now and do not intend to replace it any time soon. It runs all the current apps and games!
If your budget is tight, then get a Moto G, or OnePlus One or Nexus 5. Plenty of well specced devices around.

I bought mine 1 year and a half ago, and I can't be happier.
It's an excellent phone, great processor, ram, camera, water proof, design, development ( I had Lollipop from 1st day like a Nexus ), fullhd, 5"...
No need to spend 500€ to get a "rocket" smartphone.

Thanks guys for the reply, for now is tight.
I would like to hear more opinions of owners.
What about screen on time? Now when is for example more then one year old? I don't play heavy games, mostly surfing, taking pictures, little facebook, and a lot texting and calling. And flashing roms of course
For me everything over 3 hours is good.
U can get maximum of 4.5 hours if u r not a gamer ( my experience with games 4 hour screen on time).. May b u will get around 5 hours screen on time if u play with some tweaks..
I bought my XZ this last year in November and I couldn't be happier. Ok, screen on time is not the best out there but, at least for me, it's enough. SOT performance goes between 3-4,5 h, which IMHO I think isn't bad. You could also underclock/undervolt it in case you want to expand its autonomy a bit else.
It depends on the price you are getting at, I would say go for z1 if the price difference is minimal. I've used both, choose the one in your budget
dont buy a Sony phone, they about to go out of business lol
I suggest no.
Xperia Z has following cons:
- Back glas went off due to bad glue.
- CPU throtthling while gaming due to thermal problems, games start to stutter. Device is getting hot while gaming. On 4.4.4 it a little bit better.
- Wifi and Bluettooth disconnects. Search for forums with this problem. You will hate that problem when you decide to get a Smartband. There i no fix for that.
- Weak Battery. I heavily modified my stock rom with tweaks for longer lasting battery, i reduced wakelocks, etc, but still only 1,5 days only with normal use (i dont use LTE). It loses too much battery on standby.

So you came here from the HTC forum, proud of that you succeeded in unlocking the achievement? I find this behaviour a tiny bit bizarre, wondering what are you trying to prove? I mean, if you worship HTC, please remain in your little temple there. There's plenty of terrorist everywhere and nobody needs another one to come, terrorise Xperia or potential Xperia users.
Back on topic:
If you like Sony, just get another Xperia. They're not going out of business anytime soon as if anyone bothered to read, they're exploring (highly unlikely though) to start a jv or selling the business to another company. Of course if that happens, which have a remote chance, you're probably still be receiving smartphone support in the new business arrangement.

- Back glass just fine, over 1.5 years old
- Name one device that doesn't throttle (and doesn't stutter while throttled)
- Wifi and Bluetooth fine as long as you don't use a smartband
- Battery life is average, not really bad but nothing special either, standy is great with the right kernel
Thats my Xperience, no major problems so far.
But really better deals for the money out there.
I guess it depends on the price..
But in today's terms the XZ really isn't great. Like others have said, newer mid-range phones have overtaken the XZ.
Battery life has always been the only major drawback for me using the XZ. In this day and age you should be able to use your phone as much as you like, not holding off reading emails / replying to tweets otherwise it'll die before you get home
You're lucky to get 4 hours screen on time, it's not exactly efficient in standby mode either.
the amount of money you are going to spent just get One Plus One or if you are on budget cost wait till you got abit more money to get a better device
Well, it's a wonderful phone, the main issue with it is the battery
As others said if your gaming is at minimum (1 hour Max a day) you can actually get it to work 8 hours, even more if no gaming and used the stamina mode
Other than that, it's easy to root at all times and relatively easy to flash and customize.
And it will be officially update to lollipop.
I say if z1 is in your range get it only for the battery issue.. If not the XZ is great
Z is a great device.. But u can also buy 1+1 since it has Z2 specs and a better front cam.. It lacks Water resistance like XZ though and the multimedia features won't be like a SONY.. So choose ur needs first and then select the one suitable.. Although i haven't experienced any of the issues which are mentioned in the thread yet.. I hope i won't too.. But still my XZ can beat the s**t outta One M7 & all their desire phones, any iPhone, any S**tsung.. If you are a rough handler of the phone, i suggest u to buy XZ coz its built better and 1+1 seems kinda delicate compared to Sony..

Weren't you the one telling me I don't know what I'm talking about because of spelling mistakes?
G1_enthusiast has quoted you on xda-developers!
I'll believe you once you learn how to spell and put in some correct punctuation.
lol what company hire this moron? he cant even finished a sentence correctly.
I most probably will take XZ if i get good offer. But also maybe wait for month or two to see what will came out.
I also considering to buy SGS4 but i prefer Sony over Samsung. Only reason to take S4 will be the battery life. But like i said before i can live with 3+ hours of sot. Currently i'm using LG O4X which have vary bad sot. 2:30 is max that i can get. And all kind of problems with RIL, it's really "demanding" device, thanks to developers i still using him, but i think not for long.
Thanks

Can you spell out some of those mid-range phones that are better than the XZ? my GF wants a new phone, and i cant seem to find a device thats as thin as the Z, has a fullHD 5" screen and 2gigs RAM and a 5.0 update for similar money...
this really isnt a sarcastic question. I just want to know what are those mid-range devices with these specs, so i can buy her a better phone and save some cash?
btw with heavy usage my Z never died on me until i came home(which means the whole day). im sorry if you use battery hogging apps that dont let your device sleep when you turn off the screen...
@Tommy-Geenexus
Do you really suggest that old spec phone to buy someone, with known not solved software problems on top of serious casing and thermal design flaws?
There are better options on the market. For that money you can have a LG G2 or a Galaxy S4 or a Honor 6 or One+ One.
I have a good deal on the Xperia Z1. But I've seen a very long thread here where people are complaining WiFi is weak and touch screen has a problem registering touches. I want to know are the issues fixed as of now or not. Don't want to get disappointed after buying the phone.
Sony Xperia Z1
For the touch issues, it was already fixed (as far as i know) last year. it was October 2014 since i bought this phone, and i didnt see any issues with touch, even with 4.4.4 kitkat update. with the Wifi, sometimes i need to restart the modem or phone itself to connect with the wifi, but it only occurs once a week or twice a month. maybe they will fix it on the lollipop update this March.
Oh thanks. Very much. How is the phone? Any other issues?

if you'll stick to the stock rom and update it to kitkat, well for me there are no other issues aside from wifi drop..

Phone is a solid device, that's for sure.
it's outdated and has a bad screen, go for z2.
bad screen? i guess yes, but i used a custom rom and the viewing sides re decent and actually readable.

I don't love this device, but i like it.
Only problems for me:
1.Low and disorted speaker sound (because of waterproof covering)
2.Wifi distance performance is a bit weak, and drops from connection once a week.
3.Easily scratching screen. You should buy screen protect.
4.Screen touch issues, happens when your hands are moist. Also fixible with root access.
But I like it for:
1.Really good performance for gaming and daily usage.
2.Battery life is pretty good.
3.Lollipop update on the way with good UI.
4.Phone is really durable. I dropped it many times from a tall distance but anything happened to the phone.
5.Good camera performance (with manual settings).
If there's a good deal for this phone, and if you don't have much money, you can buy it without any fear.

It depends on the price and the state of the phone, if used. I'd say that the xperia z1 is a great phone. Got this phone since september, bought mine with a broken screan and repaired it. The wi-fi bug happened to me only once since then, and didn't notice touch problems.
