I really don't understand why people need more than 16g, of course the option to have more and carry a larger collection is always good, but it's definitely enough. I think people are more worried about the feeling of "being limited". I have never used the cloud, and still don't plan to, unless it's urgent documents I need to transfer. I do plan on using it as a media consumption device- movies, ebook, shows, browsing etc.
Here's why
1) Put your music on the phone. This tab doesn't have cellular reception anyways, you will have your phone. Put all 10g's or however much music on your phone. It's easier to take out your phone, put in your pocket, and use as a mp3 player then to use a tablet anyways, much more convenient.
2) Apps will not take over 1g. So for 16g version, let's say you start from 14g. Minus apps you have 13g.
3) Ebooks, epubs, takes up basically NO space. You could put the entire collection of Game of Thrones, harry potter, hunger games, 30 books and it won't take up any space because they're all text files.
4) If you read comics, because they are big pictures, they might take maybe 2-3 g's. You can also put a small size of your favorite picture collection in it. So now we have 10 g's left.
5) Movies. A good quality movie takes 1G? You can have 5 movies on it. Why would you need more? Even on a long distance trip, will you finish all 5 movies? I don't understand the need to have your entire collection on the tablet, there's no need to put 20 movies on it, when you won't watch them all yet. We have 5g's left.
6) Television shows. Most television shows are 40 minutes long. They take up less space than movies. I watch a lot of shows- big bang theory, game of thrones, modern family. Just get the 300mb version, instead of the super HD 1g versions. It'll be enough for your 7 inch screen. With 5g, you can put 2 entire seasons of a show on your tablet. Or do like what I do, put the latest 5 episodes of different shows on it to have more variety.
That's it: now, what can you do with your 16g Nexus 7?
You have tons of books you can never finish, comics to read, 8 hours+ of movies to watch, 24+ episodes of shows to watch, and web browsing is always available.
Is this not enough? When you finish watching the movies or shows, delete them. Pretty sure the tablet will not be your only device, so refill after you finish! I think people are just greedy and want to put their entire collection of movies on it.. but I don't see why if you aren't going to watch them anytime soon. Not telling people how to use their tablets, and I understand it takes more effort to shuffle things into your tablet every once in a while. But I'm just saying, it's possible to have a 16g device and enjoy all the media consumption even without using clouds.
my bluray rips are 6GB. i'd love for you to tell me how to get 720p quality video down to 1GB.
Do you really need to watch bluray quality on a 7 inch tablet though?
Even if it was 6 g, ok, then one movie at a time then.
But really, you can put three 2g movies on the tablet and they'll be of the highest quality already. I dont think it makes that much of a difference on the 7 inch screen if you go up further.
No, i don't, but thats what i have my rips as. I'm not going to re-rip all my movies for one device. and the display is 1280x800, so 720 is the perfect resolution.
hence why OTG, or god forbid, a USB port is great. I can plug my 1TB hard drive into my Asus Transformer and i have all my media. On the Galaxy Nexus i can plug in a 32GB flash drive that can store 3-4 movies and up to 16 shows.
N7, right now. just the 16GB internal. which if the Gnex says anything, will actually only be 13GB.

You're kidding right? I have 6 gb of games and apps on my One X. I have a ton more purchased that I haven't installed just because I am trying to keep open space on my phone in case I want to load a few Slayer or Gojira albums on it. You can bet that my 16 gb N7 is going to be completely tapped for space within minutes of me getting it. I might keep 2-3 gb open for a movie or two but every other byte will be used up by games and apps.
I'm used to listening to my 20GB music collection. I don't want to split it up and download parts of it every day, I like a big playlist.

Ahh games, I forgot about that one. My biggest game is 200mb though, I guess I'm not really a games person, or haven't gotten into it yet.
But without games, how do apps take up space? Most phone apps are less than 20mb, and those are the big ones. Normal ones take like 1-4 mb.

Literally the only reason why I bought this thing is for gaming. I can't wait to play the Tegra 3 version of Shadowgun on it.

I am guessing you are from the USA and forget not everyone in the world lives there?
I fly multiple times a year from Perth to Washington DC which is 3 flights of
5 hours, 14 hours and 5 hours
Does your statement still hold? 5 movies haha - more like 10-15.

Before you worry about running out of movies to watch, you need to worry about running out of battery. Your tablet won't last you for the entire 14 hours flight btw. Running out of movies should be the least of your concern.
Since your trip goes beyond reasonable usage of a tablet already (24 hours), it is reasonable that you will have to do more to sustain having entertainment on the tablet. You will have to stop somewhere to charge along the way. I hope the in between transfer time is long enough, otherwise your tablet will never have enough battery. I guess it is only fair that you need to bring an extra USB-OTG then.
I agree, an SD card would be very valuable for you in this instance. But I don't think a lot of people take 24 hour trips. I think for most people, 9 hours worth of movies (if you fill the 10g with all movies) should be more than enough until they can transfer files into it again.

Most long haul flights have power sockets in the seats especially on international flights (as long as you avoid US carriers ..shudder..) power has never been a problem.
When someone starts a thread generalizing ever users "use" of their products you have to expect this sort of response.

Yeap, and that's perfectly fine.
I guess we can say if your usage is more out of the norm - e.g. you need more than 9 hours of movies in one go- then Nexus 7 isn't that good of an option for you. Or you could still always bring USB-OTG for extra storage.
But generally, for most people, 9 hours straight of movies/books/games should be able to sustain their needs. And again, we're not talking about the end-all super tablet here. This is $250, meant to be a cheap pick-up. Just saying people can still do ok with 16g, thats all.
Nandroid and Titanium backups can take a lot of space. Also, I like to be able to download new ROMs and flash from anywhere (wifi willing). Uploading/downloading from the cloud takes too long and is too inconvenient with large files. Most free cloud services have file size limitations or not much storage space. Using cloud services can be done, but it requires juggling multiple services and a lot of time wasted uploading and (re)downloading files.

I'd have to say, one of the reasons I really like technology in general is there are so many differing ways to use it depending on a users wants or needs.
A large portion of the music I listen to on my phone/laptop/tablet is ripped in FLAC. I'll admit, some devices definitely sound better than others, but even on my phone with my HD380 or HD595 headphones (or streaming over bluetooth via APTX, or using one of my USB DACs that I travel with on my laptop) the difference is apparent. Even my car speakers (11-speaker Harman Kardon setup) showcase the difference in audio quality.
One of the reasons I've preordered the Nexus 7 (16GB) is for car usage. Offline maps/navigation is nice for those longer trips, but it's moreso for playing my music over speakers, as well as bluetooth OBD-II connectivity and Torque. I also tend to keep a couple 720p reencoded blu-ray rips (my entire blu-ray collection is ripped without compression on my server at home) for when necessary.
Either way, I feel I'll be able to deal with only have 16GB worth of space (I'm using about 20GB for music on my phone), but I'd prefer more OR expandable storage.
One thing I've noticed with every device I've ever owned. I've filled up all available storage (current phone is 8 + 32GB, less than 10% available. Current laptop is 128GB + 128GB SSD storage, less than 10% available. Current server is 30+ TB (24x 2TB drives in Raid-Z2 in VDEVs of 8 drives each) and has 28% free because I JUST added 8 more drives to it since we had less than 1% free).
I love storage. I love data. I love technology. And I love that there are so many devices out there than can meet peoples needs.
On my Xperia play, i have a 32gb sdcard and i have almost filled that with games alone. Games like fifa need 2gb data alone...

I thought about this as a possibility.
Thing is, this is battery-inefficient for when you want to both use the tablet (say to read) and listen to music at the same time. Effectively, you're wakelocking two devices at once.
To conserve battery, I'd much rather use the tablet for doing both (even if doing so cuts down on the size of my collection). The tablet has a lot more battery to kill as well. Hence, the storage space is an issue.

I am an avid music listener and I don't really see that point. Listening to music on the phone hardly takes out any battery at all.. I've listened for maybe 3 hours, and it takes 10-15%? The reason is because the screen isn't on.. the screen/movies/games are the biggest battery killers. Music playback while the screen is off doesn't hurt that much. If you have your tablet for most of your gaming/browsing/movies, I think your phone would last many days and battery would not be a huge concern.
However, I'd understand why you'd want to only use 1 device at one time for convenience though.
Hey all, first time actually posting here at XDA but been reading for quite a while. I'm in the market for a new phone (and probably switching from either Spring to Verizon or AT&T). I really like what I'm seeing on the Moto X except I'm a bit disappointed (as I'm sure others are) that Verizon only has the 16GB model.
So my question for those of you 16GB owners out there...Is it enough? I probably only need 4-5GB for music and don't download massive games. However I'm still a bit hesitant about buying a lesser amount just thinking ahead to the future. I know AT&T has 32GB but I kind of was hoping to go the Verizon route. What are your thoughts on the 16GB model for this phone?

Definitely not enough for me...Thats one of the reasons why I havent purchased one which verizon isnt offering the 32gb non development device yet..I know a lot of people will chime in and say the damn cloud...lol

Not really my thing though...I could see it for all my photos, videos etc... but I don't really want to use all my data to stream music from the cloud Does it seem likely Verizon will get the 32GB version when they get Moto Maker this year? I know they were only a few months behind with the 32GB S4 so hopefully it's in the works.
It depends on the person... Its enough for me, but I don't keep music, videos or pictures on the device (and I have unlimited). However I can see how it can be too little for a lot of people.

16GB is enough for me, I use spotify for music and i backup all my photos/videos to google drive when im at home. Only really stuff i keep on my phone are some offline playlist from spotify and recent photos i took.

Same here. I used to have unlimited, but then work took over and pays for the service and the phone also. So 16GB is enough for me. Photos get backed up to G+ and All Access Music is nice.

It's hard to tell with Verizon honestly....I am thinking that they will offer the moto x 32gb in non dev when moto maker is available...But unfortunately who knows when that is....I cant see spending that money for the Moto X and not use the moto maker...The moto maker to me is what you are paying for
It's more than enough for me. I came from a 32gb HTC one and it hasn't been an issue. I used a lot more space on the ONE since I was rooted with custom ROM and such. Backups and different Roms ate up a lot of space but with the x it's perfect out of the box so I don't have custom recovery etc taking up space. Each user is different but I find 16gb more than enough for me. I have about 300 songs, 200 photos, about 50 apps and still have 5gb free space left.

This question comes up with every new phone lately...
For me, 16gig and no SD card, is not enough. 16gig with SD is marginal.
Even though I'm still on an older VZW unlimited data plan, with every one of my phones so far, streaming music doesn't work well while driving or on the go. The slightest signal drop, or change (between 3G/4G) causes a disruption in the music. Therefore I keep a bit of songs on my phone to listen to. Using Rhapsody, they now have an option to store their downloaded music to SD card, Google Play Music doesn't appear to have it, and needs to be kept on internal storage.
I have/use Zinio to read magazines while at the allergy doctor once a week, and sometimes at lunch during the work week. It stores that locally.
I also keep pix and video of my son on my phone, and like the ability to take longer videos of him if he is doing something funny. While I have both a Digital SLR and "Point-n-Shoot", and I know a camera phone doesn't take as good of pictures/videos as a stand alone digital camera does, I always have my phone on me, and don't usually take my cameras with me unless its a special trip. So as they say, the best camera is the one you have with you.
Having a 16gig phone, leaving about 8-10gig free out of the box, doesn't give me much wiggle room for keeping music, the occasional game, magazines and the pix/video I take with the camera. Having 32gig, or 16 + SD card is definitely better for my needs and wants.
On the other hand, my wife could get away with a 16gig phone. Her usage is different. She streams everything, but usually at her desk at work, or while she is exercising, so loss of service isn't much of an issue. She desn't use many apps or games, and runs pretty much stock. While she takes a lot of photos of our son, she doesn't do as much video, and without music or magazines, she still has plenty of room left on her phone.
Thanks for the replies! I will probably try to hold out for the 32gb if possible, but if Verizon doesn't get it I could probably live with 16. I figured it would be a personal preference thing, but just thought I would ask some folks who actually had the moto x.
I wish Verizon would just announce it! But of course it might be better for sales if you aren't causing people to hold out for the bigger phone...On the other hand, they might be losing some sales on the phone if people think they won't ever get a bigger storage version.
For me, on the previous phone, the big consumers were ROMs and backups. I don't care about keeping either on this phone - I bought it because I like the stock OS and won't be flashing.
After installing my apps and downloading about 1 GB of music and some books that I read often, I still have 7 GB available (out of 11.88 that you get on the internal partition). I will still need to download maybe 500 MB of podcasts. Photos and videos can take up several GB with time (but can also be uploaded to G+, Drive or Amazon Cloud, or... wherever - it's always a good idea to back them up remotely anyway).
Remember you do get 50 GB free for 2 years on Google Drive, so you can offload some stuff there.
I don't store movies on the phone - that's what the tablet is for. You can always use OTG if you want to temporarily have movies on it to entertain the kids (or yourself ) on a trip or something.
Anyway, I was hesitant about the 16 GB as well. It was the only thing holding me back. After I evaluated, I came to the above conclusion and it works for me (so far).

DarthSudo, I think I could manage in that same way. I would probably only load on a couple gigs of music at a time and just keep my photos/videos backed up to G+ (which can be done over wifi for those of us who will be without unlimited data). However, I may still hold out for MotoMaker at least on Verizon. It does seem kind of cool and like it's one of the main points of the phone.
I use to think any amount of storage really wouldn't be enough and I always wanted an SD expansion. But I've come to realize that you don't need hard storage. I use Google Music for all of my music now. it allows me to access it on any computer or my phone anywhere without me manually managing storage synchronization. I still have unlimited data on my line but I also use WiFi heavily so I rarely go over 2GB of data on my line. Files are synced over Google drive and have been even before the extra 50GB from my MX. I don't really do video other than the occasional YouTube view. If these situations sound like you then 16GB should be more than enough.
I know we all love this phone, it is awesome. Super Fast, Super intuitive stock android, Super pretty, but lets be honest What's the one issue that Makes you want to get rid of the phone and never look back.
I didn't know how important a microsd card was to me until I used this phone. I used to have my entire music collection on my GS4 and while I still have online access to everything, I really miss not having to use up all my data and really being able to listen to anything anytime anywhere. Also pinning music for offline use through Google music sucks when you have thousands upon thousands of tracks and might forget what you have and haven't saved for offline play.
What's your issue that made you rethink your purchase for a slit second.
I knew there was no sd card going in and embraced it. I think it's easier to keep track of what's on storage and I obviously bought a 32 GB.
No complaints with the phone here. Well except I would have bought a red one.

For the average user, most phone companies now are not including an SD card on pretty much all of their phones (except samsung.) With cloud storage and high speed internet available at your finger tips, just stream it all. Google will let you store like 20,000 songs free and stream them. It may be a strain on your data plan, but if you're at home or the office, just use wifi.
The point of the fact is, if 16GB isn't enough, they make you buy the 32GB phone. If that still isn't enough for you, they recommend you use their services and apps to fill in the gap.
For me it's not having USB audio on stock.
Many people have no idea what this means, and even if they did it wouldn't matter to them, but to music quality snobs such as myself, it really irks me.
Especially because iphones have usb audio.
Cyanogen and probably some other roms support usb audio so it is possible to get with this phone
But I really feel this should be on stock android, and on every single phone.

To the OP, may I offer a suggestion:
Use a large portion of your internal storage to store the albums/tracks you listen to w/ the most frequency, and leave the online storage for the remainder. Obviously you can swap between the two whenever you'd like, but seems like it would make the most sense given the fact that you still decided to go w/ a N5.
May not serve your "any track, any time, anywhere" purpose fully, but will save you data and still allow you quick access to a good portion of your media.
I have to say, the limitation on storage does not bother me in the slightest. Sure it would be -nice- to be able to expand the storage, but in this day and age, data is getting cheaper and cheaper, and services that stream media are getting better and easier to use.
Why do we need more storage? how many apps are you truly going to install? how much music do you really need to take with you at all times?
personally, I have a network attached storage, which does owncloud. Through this, and the owncloud app, I stream all of my media to my phone wherever I am.
One could also use a service such as dropbox, or even just listen to online radio streams or even watch netflix for movies.
"The Cloud" is all the rage these days, and it's getting more and more cost effective to use such services. So really, why do we need an SD slot? why do we need additional storage?
I have a 128 GB USB drive attached to my key chain, and a USB otg cable in my wallet all the time... No need for an sd card here... Just wish there was an i r blaster

I have the 16 gig and no issue.... well it's because I have Sprint and have decent service in Houston so pulling anything from/to the cloud is a no worries situation for me!!

I have edited the title because I think I am giving people the wrong impression. The point I was making is that even though somthing is awesome, because we are all individuals and this is a mass market device there are bound to be things about the phone that erk us, maybe its only an issue to you. I didn't intend this to be an sd card complaint thread, Just a chance for everyone to vent their idiosyncrasies.
The nexus 5 is probably the best phone I've used/owned hands down. No regrets whatsoever
I definitely love this phone. I came from the Note 3 and do not miss that phone one bit although it wasn't a bad phone either. I have more than enough gigabytes (32gb) and if I felt that 32gb wasn't enough then I would of stuck with the Note 3 (which has expandable memory) or bought a phone that offered expandable memory.
I do not agree with streaming from the cloud as alternative unless you have a true unlimited 4g/LTE plan. Also I would hate to walk around with USB OTG as an option. OP next time get a phone with expandable memory or hope they make the N6 in a 64gb version.

I have a very large music collection. All of the tracks are in a mySQL database. I made a little bash script that randomly selects about 8gb at a time and copies the tracks to the phone. I am more than satisfied.

I'm thinking of getting the 128GB version of 1+3T, but I'm not sure if it worths or not. I currently have 16GB of storage (Galaxy Note 2) and, maybe, this could be a lot of space for me (I'm a normal root user)
What do you think guys? Which version will you buy? Why?

I ordered the 128GB version yesterday. I previously had a GS5 with 16GB of storage. It was never enough. I always found myself deleting apps to make room for other apps. I went with 128GB mainly because it only costs $40 extra. But i hope you already ordered yours. I looked online and the 128GB is currently out of stock. So depending on how long you would like to wait, 1+ may have already made your decision for you.
Go with 128. There isn't too much price difference and since you cannot use a SD Card it is the logical way to go.
I came from Note 4 also, but since they(note 2 and 4) do have sd card slot. I take that into account also, and minus some backup stuff. eg: I exclude the space taken by nand backup as I figure I can still do backup to the USB drive. This make the backup become offline also. And if you plan to merge phone and tablet, then take that into consideration as well. And after all that, I came to a conclusion that w/ 64GB, I won't have much space left to grow. Can't add big game and etc, so 128GB is the conclusion for me. Obviously I though about all this the day OP announce 3T w/ 128GB option, and thus I'm able to order it early. But apparently you don't have 128GB option now. I think you can still order it but you won't get it until January. I know it said 4 weeks, but seriously if it ship the week of x-mas you won't get it until after new year assuming 4 weeks is accurate.

Happens the same to me, I can't install too much apps (don't like to deal with SD cards, bad experiences).

I'm waiting for 28th (European version), probably, they have different stock reserved to Europe.
Somebody snag up the 3T yesterday in the Helsinki, There is another event on 11/24 at 03:02PM at 134 Oxford Street in London. Limited quantity of course. So you may not have to wait until 28th, depend on where you are.
I personally got the 64GB because I could never fill my 32GB devices with an additional 64GB sdcard...like never.
Go with what works for you.
Though, given how you do not change devices like your socks (Given by your Note 2), go with the 128GB...it will be a great investment for you. 128GB for me, will not be.

I got the 128gb. Don't think I'll ever use it but the price difference is worth it and I'll think it will help resale value.

Soft Gold can only be 64gb. Grey comes in both capacities
64 is plenty for me. I generally listen to music on cloud services (Spotify/Pandora/Google Music) with only my favorites saved to the device for trips and no service areas. Pictures is also a non issue, as you can upload to Google Photos for free unlimited storage (they keep anything 16MP without a reduction in quality, it seems). Everything else is apps and some documents or misc. stuff and I generally don't go app heavy.

Went with 128 GB since it wasn't that much price difference between 64 and 128 GB.
128gb for me. I like to transfer all my music to my phone and download a ton of apps.

Cloud storage is not exactly for everyone. Say for professional photographers, they can't exactly just store their photos on the cloud w/o giving up some rights.

Generally that stay the same. It's like they have separate partitions. Imagine a book(phone) have many chapters(partition). Say one chapter is call SYSTEM (Operating System), another chapter call DATA, another call SDCARD. When you do a factory reset, only stuff in the DATA chapter(partition) get wipe, everything else stay. Generally this means all the system settings, and application data get wiped, and everything else that store in the SDCARD, normally stuff like audio, pictures, video which stored there should stay as is. That said, think carefully contact info would get wipe but should also be backup in the google cloud also. But if you use 3rd party phone/contact/email app, they would be wiped also unless they have a cloud backup. So are the games/apps data too. This is one reason why people root their phone and use app like Titanium Back (root) to backup all their app data. Again, this is a general rule of thumb. Some apps/games do store their data on both. And if you are coming from a phone w/ removable card, then data location may store differently. Imagine an app say, some of the data stored in the partition call "externalSD", but since you moved to a phone w/ no externalSD, things get complicated. Hope this satisfy your curiosity.

I'm an amateur/hobbyist photographer also, while I don't shoot photos on the phone that does not means I won't store photos on the phone. Many pro will use their phone to showcase their photos also. So, some people may have a few gigs worth of photos on the phone. While yes, that would be extra copy on the phone, and could simply restore them on the phone, but that beside the phone. The device itself, whether that be phone or tablet should/need to have the photos stored locally and not online. And imagine videographers would even need more storage, even 128GB on the phone may not even be enough for them. Professional that store pictures on the free 3rd party cloud, generally mean they don't care, or simply ignorance about the right to the photos. And another issue is, if their works are not store locally, it means it may not be accessible when needed.
From 1-10, what you gonna rate the oneplus and the note 9?
7, would be higher if it had a headphone jack, sd card slot and or stereo speakers. The Note 9 has all of those.

8 Because of the blazingly fast speed and updates though i like this in display fingerint scanner its fine OOS is like stock android i like stock android samsung experience has slow updates and too many bloatwares no headphone jack is fine for me i dont listen to music so much small notch i like it.
I prefer the 6T so I'll give it an 11. The size and weight of the phone feels better in my hand, I do fewer misclicks with a flat panel compared to infinity display, quick updates and the 6T is faster than the Note 9 at just about everything.
Headphone jack I wish was there but that battery life makes up for it. I'd also like wireless charging but again when I have 40% left at the end of the day, who needs charging.
10, due to the fact that the oneplus 6t's OS is near stock , frequent updates , better hardware and mainly the amazing battery life.
20 , wouldn't touch Samsung with a stick

I don't really get people complaining about no SD card slot. Base model has 128GB of storage and you can get 256GB model for a lower price than the Note 9. I mean, there's no way you're going to fill all this space (unless you REALLY want to). Internal storage is also faster.
As for a score- 8. 6T isn't without flaws and compromises, but it's also incredible at what it does, especially if you consider the price.. If I could get Google Play Edition of the Note 9 that would be no brainier.

What you call bloatware is what I miss on the OnePlus.
Samsung ecosystem is so great, that's what I'm really missing compared to my s9 (don't own note 9).

I have to admit that between stock android and TouchWiz, I much preferred stock but after testing the One UI, even though it's heavier than stock, I actually like it. At least you don't need so many duplicate apps as Samsung allows you not to install its own app if you prefer to use Google's

- software. It's the second phone after Google to get Android updates.
I had the note 8 and love my 6T. I will give it an 8.
The only thing that I wish the 6t had would be stereo speakers.

Yes, this, absolutely. Watching a video without headsets on the 6T is was makes me miss the Note 9 the most. That sound is horrible.
I'll take the 6T over the Note 9 (I came from a Note 8) any day of the week and twice on Sunday, because:
1. Price
2. Specs
3. Battery life
4. Updates
5. Root
6. No bloat/close to stock Android experience
This is a true flagship phone at midrange price. I thought I'd miss wireless charging, SD card, and headphone jack, but I dont. I'm a fairly heavy user and I'm usually between 40-60% battery left at the end of the day with 6 hours of SOT. When you couple all those things together, the 6T is a slam dunk.

You obviously don't travel much. When I travel, much of the time there is little to no internet access. So streaming, downloading and watching movies becomes quite difficult since there's little to no internet access and what there is charges for it or you must share free internet with 1000s of other users, which also opens up all sorts of other problems. Having games, videos and movies pre-downloaded to SD cards, allow me to swap out things quite easily without loading up my phones memory. This also is financially better for me, as I don't need to purchase the more expensive model with more storage and can use that additional money on my trip for other things. Bottom line, it makes life easier.

Memory card does have advantages, I like the Note 9's hybrid SIM setup (two SIMs or one SIM and one memory card). I personally have a hard time using even a quarter of the 128gb I have on the 6T. Went to Vegas recently, I think I put 8 movies on the phone to have plenty of entertainment and I'm not even sure that used more than 15% of the storage.

Nice assumption first of all.
I travel to places where I'll be able to have a decent internet access or to places where I don't need it that much. And even if I did...256GB of movies and games? What are you watching and where? If I'm planning to watch a movie on a trip I'm going to bring my laptop with me and not watch it on 6-ish inch screen.
MicroSD Cards (apart from the most expensive ones) also are almost certain to give user a headache while recording [email protected] video...on a trip for example.
I'm not trying to offend you or assume you don't need. Just saying that the need to have more than 256GB of storage on a mobile phone is a niche at best. To the point where OEMs don't even bother. They can spend their time, effort and space for something different, not a feature that is not going to drive the sales one bit.
I don't go for the flashy/trendy things. For the past 4 years, I've been quite happy with the Huawei phones,
after the problems I had with the OnePlus One. Now that the Huawei phones won't really have any love for
the USA market (understandable), gave the OP phone another look. One of my coworkers bought the 6 and
has had zero trouble, so I got the 6T about 3 weeks ago. They have obviously improved. Build quality, finish
is better than the OnePlus One. Receiving the updates in a timely manner is another thing.
Camera for my use is good enough. If I want a quality photo, I'll just use my real camera. But, the camera is
adequate for snapshots, and good lighting photos. I use 3 camera apps. Open camera if I'm in a hurry, Camera FV-5
if I want to really get a good photo, and the pixel 3 camera app that works for the OP6T in low light.
I just don't see the justification for spending 800-1000 dollars for a phone, that for most, will keep maybe 24-36 months.
But, it's a free thing...buy what you want.

If you travel for work, you do not have the luxury to determine your internet capabilities. Also, when you are flying or in the airport, you may not have access for as much as a full day.
I have both and swap back and forth. I am leaning more to the 6t due to form factor, battery and speed.
Note 9 for sound, memory card support and camera.
One plus gets a 9 and note 9 a 8 or 8.5 if half scores are acceptable.
