[Q] Any Roms for ASUS MeMo Pad 7 K01A? - MeMO Pad 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Title pretty much sums up the question. Preferably Lolipop based ROM's?
Edit: Is there a boot loader unlock available?

Bumping because I'd like to know this too. I've rooted the tab and it's got 4.4 on it. I'm having trouble getting all the bloatware to die and STAY dead. I'm thinking a ROM would take care of that. I hope.

I was hoping to find a recovery and rom for the k01a.
I rooted and installed trickster mod , set everything to performance at a sacrifice of battery life. It has sped up this tablet a lot but its still a little sluggish.
Any developers want to port us a rom from maybe one of the other MeMo Pad 7's?
Anyways, hope my tip helped you speed up your device a bit. Just install a kernel tuner and set it to performance.
Cheers!

Should I root? -First time rooter needs advice

Hi, so I recently got my S3 Mini, and it's a massive improvement over my HTC Wildfire S (obviously ). Only thing is that, like with Sense, I really dislike TouchWiz. I personally think that it looks hideous when compared to stock Android, and it feels quite slow as well.
So I was thinking of maybe switching over to Marclaw's CM11, only thing is that I've never rooted or flashed a custom ROM before. CM11 looks as close to stock Android as I'll get, and I really like the aesthetics, but a big question that I want answering is, is it really worth the hassle? What are the speed boosts like compared to TouchWiz? Night and day or only minimal? What's the stability like? I've been reading the forum, and it seems like many people are having issues with the build. Can it be used comfortably for daily use?
Should I rather practice first on my Wildfire S? I don't want to screw anything up on my S3 Mini.
Last question, are there any good guides for rooting and flashing for people who haven't done it before, specifically for the S3 Mini and Marclaw's CyanogenMod build? Most of the videos I've seen on YouTube are in foreign languages, and because I'm from South Africa, I don't understand what they're saying. Anything else that I've found is outdated.
Thanks
hi there! nice to have a s3 mini. its a modarate phone that you can do most things.
i have installed cm11 one week ago. and i dont have any issues with it. happy with it! its stable and updates daily(thanks maclaw for that)
some people have clockfreeze ,sdcard-missing and battery problems. i dont have theese. its smooth and stable. samsung act like blind to us.
they only work for new devices. but we have maclaw!
that 1ghz bug. cpu stays on 1000 mhz clock and drains battery so fast. there is alternative solutions for that but i dont have that issue and got a good battery life.
there is guides for rooting and flashing that you can find in forums.

Thanks for the info, it actually doesn't look that difficult.
Another question, which is the best way to root? Using this method or this method with CWM
EDIT: So I rooted my HTC Wildfire S, it was super easy (time consuming, but very easy). And apparently HTC are some of the harder devices to root. Going to mess around with some custom ROMs. Still waiting for an answer about which root method for the S3 Mini though...
i flashed root.zip for root. and using maclaw's touch recovery(twrp) easiest way through

Do you have a link for that? Also, which CM version is more stable? 10.2 or 11? I'm going to assume 10.2 right?
----------------------------------------
Wow! So this is what stock Android is like. If it can run with no lag on a 4 year old device, I can't wait to see how it performs on my S3 Mini.
Here's a screenie I took of my Wildfire S:
It's breathed life into a phone that I was ready to dump and hide in a cupboard. Super impressed, so this is what I've been missing out on. And it really wasn't difficult at all, I'm not sure where people get the idea that it's so hard to root. Took me an hour total, and this was my first time.

I rooted mine when I first got it then in 3 months my phone died, hardbricked and the eMMC chip screwed so I got a replacement and I didn't root it and I agree it's really laggy on stock! When it was on CM11 it was so smooth!

[Q] Novafusion CM Experiences

I've been thinking of flashing Novafusion's CyanogenMod on my Samsung Galaxy s3 Mini and I was wondering what people's experiences with it are so far. Does it boot up fast? Can you navigate through the menus smoothly or are the animations a bit choppy? Do apps work better/faster on it than on stock Android? I'd like to know this so I can actually make a decision whether or not to install the ROM on my phone.

hi, i decided to root my phone about 6 months ago, i did it but accidentally deleted EVERYTHING from my phone and my phone was only bootlooping. Lucky for me i installed TWRP before that. I downloaded Carbon rom and tried it for about 3-4 days and it was really good rom. I decided to switch to CM11. This rom was by far the best rom that i ever used. It has many advantages, it is lightweight, it has theme engine(this is the best feature for me), it is fast and stable, animations are also fast, battery life is good, maybe it is even great, i couldnt tell exactly because my battery is not original and it is old, phone calls are good, messaging also works, internet is great(wi-fi and mobile data), the phone does not boot fast(it boots in 2 mins or so), stock boots faster, switching between apps is definitely faster than stock and overall impression is much better than stock rom. If you don't like this rom, you can always flash Dmod V6 which is stock rom, but different themed and devs added different stuff. So if you have any further questions just PM me or comment, i will try to answer ASAP.

i'm used cm 11.0 it really good for who searching fully working rom, i upgraded to cm 12.1 the rom it also good but the bugs for me it's the record screen and change vpn
Thanks for the replies, guys. This will really help in my decisionmaking. The only thing I will probably not like is the status bar that is on the screen. Ihave this on my tablet (running CM11) and I have no idea how to customize it.
Novafusion ROM is the best custom ROM . It runs very smooth. Apps run even smoother if you convert your partition to f2fs . One SMALL disadvantage is that it drains battery fast.

I have been using this rom on my s3 mini for a couple of days now and I really like it. There is a fix for the battery drain here.

Lollipop ROMs for Unlocked Bootloader XT1053

I've been out of the custom ROM news for almost 8 months. Currently running stock lollipop on a XT1053 with an Unlocked bootloader. The phone is already rooted with TWRP installed.
Basically can anybody who's been using a custom ROM chime in and let me know how it's going and if there are any bugs? I'm looking for something stable, bluetooth and GPS is a must. Looking for speed (my phone is finally starting to show it's age) and battery life the same or better than stock.
So Kernels... I used to flash them on my OG Droid 1. It was easy, flash it and it works. Select governer settings in the ROM. Is it the same thing on these newer phones too?
Welcome aboard ... even though development for our beloved Moto X is winding down, there are still some decent choices. I am a minimalist, so I use Megatron's AOSP rom. It is very quick and responsive ... haven't found any bugs to speak of. It actually makes the device feel like a mini nexus. Good luck with whatever you choose.

Ok, without breaking any rules can you all help sort out Custom Roms for Note 4 :)

lol I know I am asking a lot but hoping y'all can help
I had the OPO (One Plus One) and the Op2 is not to my liking because my OPO filled up and ran out of storage. I have over 500 apps (don't ask lol) and use a lot of them.
That being said my OPO finally died. After almost 2 years I accidentally lost it in a buggy and the gears got the case and phone quite well unusable. I used to LOVE Samsung because of the external SD and easy ROM flashing with included root (superuser) in the rom. The S6 is nice but here we go again no external SD. The Note 5 is nice, but again no External SD.,
Sooooo.... Onto the Note 4. Quad core because t-mobile does not have the octa-core version for sale. Which is cool in many benchmarks I see ran for it the Snapdragon outperforms the Exyos. Also 4gb memory vs 3gb is not that much to write home about I won't miss too much. PLUS the Note 5 has no IR emitter for remote use so yea. I liked that feature. NOTE 4 IT IS.
The more I read up on it though the more I find issues and I want to be sure I can resolve them NOW vs later. Did many searches here so please do not tell me to search. Been there done that. I am overwhelmed and actually pretty happy that there is so much good development for the phone. But I find myself hours and hours of reading and still on the sideline wondering what I want.
Thus I figured I would ask you all, who have been there done that and find out what the differences are in what I want and what would fit me best. NOTE THIS IS A NOT WHATS BETTER THAN OTHER THREAD - JUST WANT SOME FACTS AND IDEAS WHAT WOULD SUIT ME BEST IN CHOOSING A CUSTOM ROM WITH ROOT ACCESS BUILT IN HOPEFULLY AND A KERNEL TO GO WITH THAT ROM.
I will be adding a zerolemon extended battery. I know after reading I need a Rom and/or kernel that supports this to show the right battery percentage. This has to be factored in.
Here's some other stuff I would like (not need, just a wish list) that may help you find me a nice rom and kernel combo. REMEMBER I AM JUST ASKING WHAT YOU THINK WOULD WORK FOR WHAT I NEED/WANT AND WHY. Thanks in advance for the help.
I would LIKE a nice black background texting and phone and contact look. In my Galaxy S4 I had a few years back one rom I installed was black with neon phone pad keys and a neon look to the contacts and even the texting was black with yellow and blue and red and green text bubbles - was so cool. I HATE white backgrounds or light color backgrounds, but alas if there is nothing avail it is what it is. I do use swiftkey and it has some cool dark keyboards but I mean the actual texting app and phone screen backgrounds.
As stated need a rom/kernel that has extended battery support
Do NOT need all the fancy CPU tweaks. Its cool to overclock and such but not needed. Either way - with or without overclocking is cool. I have rom toolbox pro so I can do most anything in there anyways.
Would LOVE extended volume controls and extended power menu so I have screenshot and boot into recovery and such on the power menu - but hey isn't that what xposed framework is for and I just install an app there that does it. lol Been there done that I LOVE xposed - but if a rom has this built in why not get it and save me a step
Speaking of xposed do any roms have xposed pre-installed? I know, asking for a lot here but if some do please top of the list. Otherwise will install xposed myself That's why I am doing a custom recovery. DO YOU suggest CWM or TWRP or?
NEED TO KNOW HOW ROM WORKS. Some I see are based on 5.1 lollipop some on older 4.4. I am all for upgrading to 5.1 (woohoo) my OPO was on 5.1 and loved it. I am thinking its easy to keep phone NO updates brand new out of box keep the 4.4 stock and put my own recovery and I can use a custom rom to jump to 5.1 so that way there is NO Samsung or t-mobile updates to lock anything. I remember in my Galaxy s4 my 1st one I made the MISTAKE of upgrading the stock o/s then my custom recovery showed the yellow 1 in the corner after I added my custom rom. After that did the rom 1st NO system updates - I figure its best to do the same here with Note 4 right? or??? PLUS I read the note 4 gets kinda buggy on 5.1 so hoping some awesome developers have fixed this and maybe some newer roms or older roms now updated have fixed this and the note 4 does 5.1 as smooth as 4.4 lol
Any other info? I am not locked on the Zerolemon - any ideas there too would help - but amazon has it for $55 now thats cheap for zerolemon and it has a case like otterbox with the belt clip so yayyyy Ultimately I would LOVE a waterproof case with extended battery but been searching a while for that no luck lol.
Thanks again people. I just got tired of searching all the roms and the reading hundreds of posts - some thousands of posts for extended battery support, then there's 100 ideas on best kernel to match and I find myself 20 pages from the last thread trying to see the most recent posts from past month or 2 seeing what is best now vs what was best when the rom 1st came out and comparing which is really best and its just too UGH! I am a technical guy and will be here for weeks checking everything out. I am finally just asking for your advice and what you think is best for what I want and narrow down my search a lil to keep me from being here so long doing it on my own.
MAINLY I AM JUST ASKING AFTER TRYING SEVERAL ROM AND KERNEL COMBINATIONS WHICH DO YOU FEEL ARE BEST SUITED FOR MY NEEDS AND WHAT DO YOU RECOMMEND AND WHY - I DON'T WANT THIS IS BETTER THAN THIS JUST RECOMMENDATIONS ON GOOD ROMS WITH A KERNEL FOR THAT ROM OR MAYBE STAY STOCK KERNEL IDK.... U TELL ME WHAT YOU ALL FOUND THAT WORKS GOOD. THAT FIT THE ABOVE CRITERIA AND I WILL LOOK AT ALL AND CHOOSE WHAT I WANT.

ROMs:
-TEKXodus N4 (most popular here, you have to flash either Emotion & Beast Mode kernel with it)
-N5 Express
-Maximum OvrDriVE
-ABSTRK Rom
-CM Remix
Kernel option:
-Emotion
-Beast Mode

Plus I have this exact same question posted in Q&A - exact copy and no replies at all yet. So I was hoping posting in the correct area would work but alas has not
Thanks for the help. As long as those all do what I mentioned above I will check them all out and see the differences in each outside of what I want and choose what I feel is best! I am thinking, MAYBE if I can find a good Themer for root, I can just upgrade to stock 5.1.1 then root then theme my OS to a dark theme for dialer and sms and such.

My addiction is finding the perfect phone for what I use them for. I use them for holding my 500+ apps, loads of picture taking, video and movies and just everyday use
If you have not read my original post, The NOTE 5 is out. Sleeker, better body and newer. The Note 4 has a newer, better phone already - or so some think. T-Mobile ONLY has the 32gb. And an unlocked international 64gb or 128gb costs double that of note 4 and still has no SD card slot. On the other hand the Note 4 has 128GB SD and 32 GB Internal for 160 total. More than ANY note 5 will ever have.
Then for the benchmarks, after seeing several antutu and other programs comparing between the 2 phones, I find video and such is way higher on note 4. Sure Note 5 excels in memory but in processor is a lil less. Turns out Snapdragon's 4 core in Note 4 (which is what is in T-Mobile Version) slightly outperforms octa core Samsung Processor in International version. And think of it this way - Octa core breaks tasks up 2 ways 4 cores each. Quad core breaks tasks up into 4 ways single core each. Meaning better battery life as I am using only 1 core at a time for most stuff vs the minimum used ion octa core is 4 cores at once.
I LOVED My OPO - One Plus One - but the lack of an external SD even with all my cloud storage proved a deal breaker and its sad I loved that they were half the price as samsung and just as good The note 4 has SD card, has zerolemon - I will love it for years to come no worries
Depends on what you really want, but for me I like FireKat rom (4.4.4). With LoBoToMy black theme. I also use Xposed modules which work great on 4.4.4. 7 hours SOT is pretty easy on stock battery and one user has hit almost 10 hours (he also posted his method to achieve this and it is not by turning everything off). It's based on TouchWiz so you keep the great camera and spen functionality.
Note that if you are on 5.1.1 DOK2, you cannot downgrade and your options are more limited.
Also, in general, use twrp and cf-autoroot. And just install Xposed yourself.

Cm 13 Remix if you wants AOSP, it's got a ton of stuff added on top which is why it's "remix". It is probably closet to what would be on a OPO.
TEKHD it you like custom development. His ROM is a Frankenstein version of Touchwiz. Looks beautiful runs great. Great sound enhancing mods.
Also you can try stock systemless rooted, if you just want to get used to TouchWiz.
Really all of the ROMs that have active development right now a good. But the 3 above would be a good place to look first just to narrow down you search.
I am using official CM12. It's not the latest and greatest, but I find CM12 to be nexus stable. I do miss having marshmallow but the CM13 remix rom I had difficulty with getting started.

Help on Custom ROM and Kernel with Root Access. Please :) Thanks in Advance :)

lol I know I am asking a lot but hoping y'all can help
Anyone lol. Again I am open to any rom which can do above what I need done. I just rather you aLl post what works for you to make it easier to narrow down my searches lol
