Hi guys, I've switched my terminal with a noob guy a few weeks ago. I found it rooted some days ago, but I don't know nothing about that. So i'm here to ask for your help to know something more about it.
First of all, how can I know if the boot loader is already unlocked?
How can I know if is there a custom recovery?
In case of warranity needed, how can I restore the stock FW?
can i use hisuite for making software updates? Or maybe to restore it stock..
Thanks in advance for your kind help.

1. Get into bootloader, it will tell you if you are unlocked (with red letters).
2. Go to recovery and you'll know
3. Yes you can revert back to stock.
4. Hi suite works for stock rom updates.
For more answers, just search the P7 thread.
Cheers
I tried the recovery but i think is a stock one.
What do you mean with "get into bootloader"? Is a procedure like recovery mode?

it's similar but in bootloader mode you'll have a white screen (with a green droid image) and at the bottom of the screen there'll be a text with BOOTLOADER LOCKED or BOOTLOADER UNLOCKED. There should be a procedure with hardware button to enter in bootloader mode but I don't remember.
Using ADB you can simply enter in bootloader mode using this command:
adb reboot bootloader
or use this tool http://forum.xda-developers.com/ascend-p7/help/tool-p7-easyupdateandadjust-t2941186 , connect the phone in hisuite mode and select option 5
Shut down your P7 completely, keep vol. down pressed and plug in usb (connected to computer) in your device. You'll see Huawei logo and after few seconds you'll be in bootloader mode ... in red letters in the middle of the P7 screen should be written device unlocked. If you don't have unlocked bootloader than flash update 133 as it should have unlocked bootloader.
So, what are the advantages of an unlocked bootloader?

This is unlocking agreement from huawei site
Unlocking Agreement
Thank you for your support for Huawei Device’s products. Huawei Device has granted bootloader unlocking permission for its latest mobile phones’ and tablets’ official firmware. Unlocking the bootloader enables you to burn third-party firmware to your device.
However, unlocking the bootloader carries the following risks:
1.Huawei has optimized its products’ hardware and software, but after you unlock the bootloader, Huawei cannot guarantee the best product performance or the normal operation of all functions.
2.Most third-party firmware has not been adequately tested and has poor compatibility with Huawei devices, which will affect your device’s stability or even cause damage to your device’s hardware. For example, the power consumption may become so excessive that your device’s standby time and battery life are reduced, or the RF performance of your device may degrade, which will lead to network search failure or poor call quality. Even worse, your device may fail to start and cannot be repaired. In other words, your device may no longer be usable.
3.The third-party firmware may be vulnerable to malicious software attacks, as a result of which your device’s security cannot be assured. For example, Your personal data such as contacts, messages, and locations may be disclosed. Malicious software may control your device to send messages to subscribe to paid services or make calls in the background, incurring charges secretly. Malicious software may even monitor your device.
4.Some functions will no longer work after you unlock the bootloader. For example, the Digital Right Management (DRM) security password and digital contents you have purchased cannot be used any more. Software upgrade using Firmware Over-The-Air (FOTA) or a microSD card may fail or your device may not function properly after the upgrade.
Unlocking the bootloader will cause unexpected negative impacts on your device, including but are not limited to those listed above. You are at your own risk if the device malfunctions and cannot be recovered. For software and hardware failures, Huawei repair centers can provide and charge for maintenance services.
[ Warnings and precautions ]
1. As determined by your service provider, custom devices may not support bootloader unlocking. If so, contact your service provider to unlock your device’s bootloader.
2.Unlocking the bootloader restores your device to its factory settings and all of your personal data will be erased. Back up your data before unlocking the bootloader.
Before you unlock the bootloader, ensure that you are fully aware of all the risks and that you master the required skills.

I already hijacked another thread with this topic, since I consider it important enough for the wide open public, I created this thread and post the question in a more general way.
Unfortunately I didn't bookmark the page as I visited it yesterday evening, so I cant prove that I found this information, but take my word that I really did find the information as stated in the following lines:
In the process of reserching stuff for my brand new Xperia T I stumbeled upon a tutorial/how-to page which clearly and credibly stated, that unlocking the bootloader irreversibly breaks official updateability.
A little more detailed, what the page said: unlocking the bootloader a) breaks OTA updates, it also b) breaks updating the device via the companion software or c) the seus/sus tool. Once unlocked, one can of course flash official firmwares, has to get them through forums/linkpages/insider portals like xda-devs etc and flash them through the flashtool or fastboot. Relocking the bootloader does not restore the phone to a state where it can receive updates through "official" channels, one is forever bound to flashtool/fastboot.
Is this correct or not? Anybody with enough historical SE/Sony knowledge might even know, if it maybe used to be true for older devices and the mentioned guide possibly just copypasted the once correct but now defunct information for its Xperia T tutorial?
If you unlock via the official method you can not update again via official method. ATM, you can only unlock the xperia T via the official method

I have updated to 195 in semi official way, I guess.. connected to Sony Companion, let it run and everything, it complained that phone was modified, I found 3 files on my computer, created .ftf and flashed via flashtool.

Thanks for clarifying. So the information I read was correct, the verdict today, at this time is: Bootloader unlock via Sony results in losing official update eligibility via Sony offered services and channels. Updating is always possible through third party tools of course.
Why this is bugging me is, as pointed out in the other thread: I have to phone for ~20h, I'm still deciding if I like it or not If I would decide to ditch it, it's resale value would be significantly lower, if the new - potentially tech un-saavy - owner won't be able to apply updates onto his phone.
On the note of unlocking: Do you or anyone have any idea, if community unlocking could be possible? And if so, what could be a reasonable ETA, based on earlier Sony/SE devices? Weeks? Months...? I'm asking because Asus tablets for example, won't ever be community unlockable, they hardcore alter stuff on the tablet using private encryption keys which only Asus have. Unless someone steals Asus' keys, which is highly unlikely, unlocking has to be done via Asus. I wonder if Sony is behaving differently on that front.
As far as I know new generation Sony devices can't be community unlocked.
However if you do unlock your bootloader there is a way in one of the other sections a guide to re lock it.
Sent from my Xperia T using Tapatalk 2
Partially correct.
I'm not sure if it still applies to the Xperia T, but with almost all other devices you can get back into the regular update cycle if you relock the bootloader (possible) and then flash a standard firmware with Flashtool. After that you can just use all the Sony tools again.
Yep as far as I know the above is right.
Sent from my Xperia T using Tapatalk 2
Then the verdict today would change into after unlocking one loses official update abilities until relocking the bootloader and reflashing the device to completely stock.
Damn I'm too scared to try myself

So it has come to this
Does this mean that I can't root an Xperia T without breaking sony own update?
That's a :silly: bummber if it does.

No,
You can root no problems, Its just unlocking the bootloader that has issues.
Flash 7.0.A.1.303.ftf if you are not on it, then root using bin4ry method.
Did anyone actually unlock, relock and after that sucessfully update using either OTA or the Companion?
I can't try OTA myself. Although I'm on 7.0.A.1.303 I believe my device isn't completely free. It's optically/visually totally unbranded but a google search after my SI 1265-1624 revealed some russian site or so where I could spot the name of my provider in conjunction with the phones name. So I guess it's at least somehow provider tied (yet sim unlocked/sim free) as I also haven't got any update notification yet.
Is there an option to lock the bootloader again after unlock?? for warranty things
8don't know but I don't think it will work cause of custom boot image.
I don't know. I have flashed the v20a (leak version) and unlock its bootloader, then rollback to official v10e, and then flash the official v20a and the bootloader is already unlocked. I think its been unlock forever maybe????

Supposedly, you can flash a v10x firmware and it'll show as locked again, if I'm not mistaken. Although if they update your firmware back to a v20x, as they probably will, it will show as unlocked, and they might have a way to know when/how it was unlocked, and claim you had it unlocked before.
My advice (and personal intention) is, unless you're a developer, do not unlock the bootloader unless you're willing to risk voiding your warranty.
Although I'd be quite curious to know if they'd have the guts to invoke the unlocked bootloader for someone that goes in with stuff like dust between the screen and the Gorilla glass, or hardware failure of some sort.

AFAIK when you unlocking bootloader you actually write some data to a special memory called fuse. This can be done only once. Therefore it is not possible to be locked again. But it is possible to ruin the the fuse if you do something wrong and you lose forever possibility to unlock.
Well I was on leak v20a and unlock it and flashed cwm, then i flashed Official v20a .dz with lgflashtool and bootloader got locked again. I needed to unlock it again. You can try that.

i flashed atleast once with lgflashtool (screwed something up after deleting some bloatware + installing wrong unsecure img or something, all in all i couldnt enter S/W at all), and several times with kdz (between 20a leak and other 20x's).
and all troughout this bootloader stayed unlocked (i am on eur-xxx, so i unlocked my bootloader the day the method was found, if i recall correctly)
It may be an isolated case. You never know with LG But i am sure it was locked again, even flashed cwm thinging it stayed unlocked then gave me security error when I tried to boot recovery. So i unlock it again. Mine is also eur-xxx.

Bootloader can't be relocked. When you flash kdz with all usual methods available for p880 you also flash secured bootloader and system recovery too. So you must flash these two again from adb every time you flash new kdz. Security error may appear if you don't flash unsecured BL before CWM.
Any way regarding warranty I don't think that LG service will bother to check bootloader state if device is bricked or something.
It can be relocked since mine was in fact relocked. It just that we need to find way. Unsecure boot.img has nothing to do with unlocking bootloader or properly running recovery. It just give you root access from adb. It is property in ramdisk in default.prop ro.secure=0. And they will sure check bootloader unlock status, they even developed Windows app for root checking.

I'm saying that secured bootloader won't load unsigned recovery. So maybe thats reason why you got security error. Anyway if you think unlocking is reversible maybe its best way to ask LG. Their FOSS section replied for unlocking process, maybe they answer you.

If the device is bricked, they'll need to find the problem before they solve it. They'll surely run diagnostics on it, and a phone diagnostic tool that doesn't diagnose something as basic as "has someone been messing with the bootloader?" isn't that good of a diagnostic tool at all..
So yeah, I'm pretty sure they'll check it. And even if I weren't, some LG support centers (the portuguese one being one of them) have mentioned that unlocking the bootloader will void your warranty, and the warranty itself mentions it (by saying any change to the provided hardware and software, which the bootloader is a part of, will void the warranty). So, at the very least, we should leave it as a warning to the community that their warranty might be voided when unlocking the bootloader and/or rooting their phone.

My point is that it is useless to try relock your phone.
I agree with you completely in everything you said about warranty. I think there should be warning about warranty. Also there still no need to unlock while we waiting for custom rom (CM).
Anyway I'm more than year on this forum and I never saw someone refused by LG service because their device is modded somehow.

Yes, but Asus's policy wherever that person bought the Nexus 7 might be different that the policy for LG in our respective countries...
I borrow some text from a blog :
This is a joint blog post written together with Carlo Piana with the goal to disband some popular FUD that you lose your warranty if you flash or root your device.
Does rooting your device (e.g. an Android phone) and replacing its operating system with something else void your statutory warranty, if you are a consumer?
In short:
No.Just the fact that you modified or changed the software of your device, is not a sufficient reason to void your statutory warranty. As long as you have bought the device as a consumer in the European Union.

It clearly states that not only rooting but also flashing your device with a custom rom , can't be held responsible for the defect at a device.
A friend of mine had a faulty screen on his galaxy nexus and gave his device rooted , of course the store who sold the phone refused to repair it , but after being aware of this directive and to avoid further legal actions from the buyer's side, they agreed to repair the phone at no cost.
I relate this case to the thread for the guarantee part since an unlocked bootloader is needed to flash custom stuff to it and is part of the software imho.

It's nice to know that directive. People speak of them having to fulfill the warranty if the root/unlocking isn't directly linked to the problem, but this gives us something to use in case they don't do it voluntarily.
Although, keep in mind that any problem you cause due to your rooting (e.g. deleting system files, freezing the wrong apps, etc.) or bootloader-unlocking (e.g. deleting your bootloader, incorrectly installing a ROM/kernel, etc.) will probably not be covered by warranty, as it was your action that caused the error.
Can those with the knowhow work on getting us root on the 28.0.A.8.266 please. So frustrating not able to make use of ad blocking app like AdAway and other apps that need root permission (Titanium, xposed, etc).
Thank you.

I'm aware you can only root with unlocked bootloader. I perfectly know of the risks involved, by the way I unlocked my phone's long time ago when root exploit became available for this phone on earlier firmware.
I even got a new replacement phone off Sony (bootloader since unlocked) when my screen cracked and I sent it off for repairs.
In life, "no pain no gain". ??
I constantly check this forum for any news on root this firmware version, am already unlocked and my camera didn't focus as it should be, I really didn't notice any other feature down.
Getting new updates feels like more far away to get root...

Lol! You know the focus here was on root for unlocked bootloader on. 266 firmware because nothing yet in sight as far as locked bootloader is concerned.
Guys, i've been using many mainstream brands like HTC, Sony, Samsung, etc but im newb to Huawei.
For Sony device, im going to lose DRM keys for good after unlocking BL (not to mention backup TA) and many other features & functions like screen mirroring & camera quality degrade.
For Samsung, the well known Knox.
Im about to unlock my P9Plus but by reading this, quoted frm Huawei bootloader unlocking page, im abit scared of losing Leica image processing for instance.

Can anyone shed some lights?
I asked this before i unlocked my bootloader, as my previous phone was also a Sony.
I was told nothing would be lost, and from what i can tell, the phone still seems the same as it was out of box.
If you do notice anything, please let me know as well.
I haven't received any OTA update, but i can always download and update via SD-Card if i require.
Haven't tried playing any videos on the phone, besides ones that I've taken myself, but nothing i have contains DRM protection so I don't see any issues there anyway.
This is my 3rd Huawei Device after the P8 & Mate 8.
On all the devices I didn't notice any changes after unlocking.
how about screen mirroring & netflix/iflix HD. if im not mistaken netflix wont play HD movies if DRM is absent on device.

If you somehow already have the bootloader unlock code (e.g. from DCUnlocker), then the warranty displayed on the website will not void, at least on my Singapore's VIE-L29C636. But I am not sure through if you get the unlock code via the official EMUI website. Your bootloader's state will become "unlocked", and if you do relock your bootloader, it will show "relocked" instead of "locked". Read my post here to revert it back to "locked" state.
