Yeah I saw that early on, but I may work on my own git, not really because of fighting, but because It can get sloppy with pushes...
I understand that posting to xda would make for better documentation, but a hangout group would make communication faster and easier. Because of this I invited @m.ksy @Aaahh and @palmbeach05 if anyone else wants in let me know

So glad I saw this thread. If you need a tester, I'm the man! Let's get some LP booting on our beloved DX!
Pardon my lurking crackflasher mentality, but do you honestly think that the system partition is big enough to hold a lollipop based rom as well as the typical CyanogenMod goodies?

We could always work on repartitioning, and put those 6 gigs of internal storage to use.
Wow, so happy this is happening, good luck and a huge thanks for making this happen! Long live the Droid X!

1) I am a software tester, do mobile app testing and have a DX to test with - and I would like to volunteer when the team is ready
2) The DX is one of the remaining non-LTE devices with 3G CDMA only and no SIM card. My daily driver is another non-LTE 3G CDMA only device - the Moto G (1st Gen) xt1028/xt1031 and it does not yet have any working 5.x ROM with outgoing calls and SMS. The apparent cause is that it seems that CM12 has introduced a SIM dependency. Are you aware of this? Do you have any suggestions?

The Motorola defy which is a miniature clone of the droid x with a gsm radio has a cm12 port (was one if the first devices to get one) and it has no sim. Then again the Quarx is a freaking wizard lol

I looked for any sign of a CM12 for the CDMA Defy XT (xt556/xt557) or any CM12 work by Quarx on any device whether here on XDA or anywhere else and I could not find anything at all (found this on a GSM device) - am I missing something?

Yes, that was back in November and then he switched to the ASUS, not yet to return with his last comment in December on CM12 being that there is work on the RIL needed
I'm just wondering. Is the ability to make phone calls even important on an old device such as the DX? For me it's just an android media player.
just got me a dx and use it on pageplus. are you all still working on cm12? would me wonderful to see dx with cm12. thanks a lot.

Curious about whether development got far enough to run into the SIM dependency that is blocking 3G CDMA-only variants we are seeing in CM12 described here

The ICS sources are being uploaded. Ref: https://groups.google.com/forum/#!to...ng/T4XZJCZnqF8

All discussions here!
Cheers!
Ref: http://source.android.com/source/downloading.html
I thought there would be more discussion on this by now.... I guess I'll start:
With the current development, would be we able to install a true version of ICS on the phone or do we have to wait until the official update?
What will happen with the main buttons? Will they be displayed in ICS fashion or will the physical buttons still be used? I'm not sure I've seen what the projected layout will be for the phones that will be receiving the ICS update.
I may be wrong but i think we have to wait until motorola releases ICS because the kernels on our phones will not have all the features of ICS incorporated so the roms cant be boot. Hence another reason for unlocked bootloader.... LOL The endless cycle.
I think they could get ICS running on the Bionic via 2nd init or some other workaround. I think the biggest challenge wont be to get ICS on the Bionic, it will be to get ICS on the Bionic with all features working.
Currently I know CM7 is being ported and works for the most part but there is no 3/4G data. Things such as this will need to be resolved in the ICS port as well im sure.
ICS source code... wouldn't that be more related to development discussion than general discussion?

The answer would be no.
Development related to the source code would belong in the development section. General discussion and questions about it don't really belong in that section. From what I've seen on other form sections, they don't even like general comments or questions in development threads... only info directly concerned about the development being worked on.
Thanks for the answers. That's basically what I thought, but wanted to be sure. It would definitely be cool if we could see a full version of ICS sooner, but it sounds like waiting till the update might be the best option.

Likewise, and to reclarify the sound fix isn't a full fix :/ it works 100% for an unnamed amount of time then goes silent again sometimes taking phone audio out with it. But DHacker29 is a smart guy hell have that sorted out with Hashcodes very soon I'm sure.

Yup - about an hour ago he pushed an updated vendor apk:

dhacker29 committed 3d13bd8

that mean he has got it working?

And full audio!!!

Am I mistaken, or wasn't there a message from Moto about having ICS on the Bionic 6 weeks after the source was release? Its now been 8 weeks. Not that this is surprising, just adds to motofail

DON'T LET GOOGLE RESTORE YOUR SETTINGS WHEN INSTALLING THIS ROM COMING FROM GINGERBREAD
An OMAP4 optimized build using CM9/AOSP sources. I used some of the published Moto Source from D3 and RAZR where I felt it was appropriate to get the low level services running.

KNOWN ISSUES:
- Leaving Bluetooth on but not paired causes all audio to stop working on the phone. If you turn off Bluetooth then audio comes back.
Temporary Workarounds:
- For GSM/WCDMA users please enter *#*#4636#*#* into the dialer. Then goto "Phone Information". Near the bottom of that screen there's a drop down of network preference. For GSM-ONLY use GSM (PRL). Exit that screen and reboot the phone.
What is working in this build:
Fixed Data usage stats
Removed useless FM radio apps
SD Card change: internal = /sdcard, external = /sdcard-ext (just like Motorola setup)
Facebook sync
Voice search fixed
Trebuchet as launcher (Nebkat rules)
Many hard keyboard issues resolved (including B key! Thanks to Tezet)
Bugfixes from Alpha #1
Embedded GApps (for now)
Larger default apns-conf.xml file for international use
Embedded WirelessTether app
3G Data
Audio
phone is connected to the network
Wifi
GPS
Bluetooth
SD Cards (needs testing again)
HW Accelerated Graphics (RenderScript apps will have issues -- like Web Browser)
Adbd
What isn't working:
Camera (in progress)
Some Codecs (in progress)

Awesome. By flashing, I meant how the screen would go black and the weird Chinese error messages would pop up. That got in the way of seeing how smooth it was. For the few seconds it didn't crash, it was very smooth.

Does this mean you have decided.....
Does this mean you have decided to use your development time with ICS rather than finish CM7? So far, your CM7 is coming along nicely, but without video cam support, I may have to go back to a non AOSP build which I don't want to do. Can you tell us if you intend to work on CM7? Personally, I'm far more interested in a clean CM7 than ICS.
Thanks again!

I do intend to jump back into CM7 and clean up some of the open issues. But, I'm on heavy grind seeing how far this ICS build can go and how quickly.
As far as I know making the camera / camcorder work in ICS will be easier than in CM7. But, I haven't gotten into that section yet. It's the ICS audio that worries me.

I posted on rootz, here's what I found:
It booted.
Had about 5 reboots within a few min. Lookscreen doesn't show up right away after reboot, have to touch the screen. Keyboard flashes when a button is pushed, spacebar also makes keyboard disappear ( can't figure how to get it back without deleting the whole word). No camera app pre installed and can not connect with camera ICS (it useally works when others will not). Holding power button reboots the phone. Time reverts back to GMT or whatever it is after a reboot.
No Mobile network available, no service available on lock screen. . I did my normal steps, I don't think I missed anything. I used WIFI to download apps. With not being able to make calls or with 3g, I am going to got back to my nandroid. I can test some more stuff tomorrow if you want, I have to do some errands.
If someone has time to better help with with the bugs, flash away. if not, i would not flash this right now. I have the day off and had to mess with it.
Thanks for you work. I am more than happy to get a logcat of stuff tomorrow for you.

Thanks for testing! It's really hard to develop for a device you don't own. At least it boots, and I will start looking into that stuff once I can get an Incredible of my own.
You can fix a lot by using Evervolv's QCOM libraries, including Camera and GPS. You'll also need to use their RIL repo to get data working.
Also, you're going to have to manually revert a lot of the crap in regards to MIN_UNDEQUEUED_BUFFERS to get the screen to function properly. The commits build just fine, but blow up the display.
Uploading a new build to goo right now. It will (hopefully) fix a ton of bugs. It'll be up in ~5-8 minutes.
By the way, does anyone have an old inc laying around that you don't need anymore? It would really help with the development.
Does anybody know if it works on the sldc version of the dinc the old aokp didnt

I had to download it from the link on rootzwiki
It boots, then it crashes and bootloops. When I did Gapps I skipped logged in, it brought me to the wifi area. The keyboard flashes when you press a button, and it crashed again when I hit the first letter for my password.
The rom looks great though, besides these horrible bugs. It looks like the butter is implemented well too.

Let's stick to the topic
If there are bugs report them, otherwise constructive criticism is highly recommended
FNM
My constructive criticism is to wait until you have an Incredible so you can test your ROMs before publishing them. This build is highly unstable and nothing really works; relying on the community to report everything that's wrong is inconceivable. I encourage you in your efforts and hopefully things can get more stable in due time.
Just bought an incredible off ebay... hopefully I can actually make some improvements to this now! Can't wait till it arrives.

That's great news! Don't forget there's many developers here that'd be willing to offer some help should you get stuck or need guidance; hope it arrives soon.
Yay!
With the help of the incredible I bought off ebay, I made an updated build. It has many bug fixes in it and it should be fully operational as a "daily driver" rom. The only bug I noticed is one time the screen glitched out a little while using the camera, but it only happened once. I look forward to hearing how this plays on other people's phones.
So everything works???

I did a little research and all I could find was "barebones Android" (obvious paraphrase). That's it. That's all fine and dandy, but CM is barebones enough as it is, right? So why should we use this instead of CM?
(Note: I am NOT insulting the project or the author. I am simply curious.)

I did a little research and all I could find was "barebones Android" (obvious paraphrase). That's it. That's all fine and dandy, but CM is barebones enough as it is, right? So why should we use this instead of CM?
(Note: I am NOT insulting the project or the author. I am simply curious.)

SIGH. first result on Google.
Aokp.co
Read it.
Edit: to the OP- seems like this build is working fine. The only bug i can find is with screen rotation. Screen rotates fine but for just a second it looks kind of "squished" and upside down... Then quickly corrects itself. Not a big deal really but wanted to make you aware.

Task list tasks are sideways btw. Also assuming screenshot directory is set wrong. Won't do a screenshot cuz it tells me sdcard is in use.

Yeah this was a little rushed after 3 days I was just about fed up with it, but I finally got it to boot (oddly enough it was wifi that wasnt working).
So task list, screen shot directory, and screen rotation thus far.

Stopped reading at "swagger" and "unicorns". Thanks but no thanks. Will keep my eye on the ROM anyway!

Sigh. Read more. So odd that you would focus on the inconsequentials

Agreed. AOKP is up there with AOSP and CyanogenMod.
It has always been an AOSP like ROM with a few Unicorns thrown in for extra swagger. It was on of my ROM's of choice on my Atrix.
Although I do not have this device, I enjoy stopping in at my devices "cousins" thread to see what development is going on. Would it be possible for you to compile this for the Kindle Fire HD 7"? Thanks.

I can give it a shot...let me see what I can do, having issues with my own device right now. But I'll put it on the list of things to do

Development around here a little slow...finally got around to updating this to 4.3
Same issues as before (slow screen rotation, no screen shots, and task list items are rotated 90 degrees)
Will try and update this weekly...thanks

Yes it is...kind of. Welp new build up is stable nothing new to report. Looks like nothing major will happen until 4.4 is dropped. I just wish I had more time to look into the Kindle issues BlackBean worked so well (which was loosely based on AOKP). TeamBAKED doens't seem to be updating much either (still on 4.2.2) or else I would build that. Anyways weekly is up check the first page.
Thanks for visiting. :good:

Data issues try this
Open voice dialer app and say "Open apns" it's gonna take you to the Apn menu. Select the lte Internet apn(hit the selector) and lte should come back. Same thing with 3g....if it goes away then select the Ehrpd Internet Apn.
Also in a Launcher like Nova you can setup a shortcut to the Apn menu.

This build fixed the lte connection issue for me! Glad to see you made your own thread too. You should point out that it has working ir blaster in the title though.

yeah
I cant seem to download anything off your drive. says theres an error.
I've had my one for 3 months now (came from an S3) and I've been dying to run CM on it. But I remember reading that aosp roms aside from GE where bricking some phones, I really want to try this and was wondering if this is still an issue.

if you flash the wrong model like a GSM on a sprint phone yes it will cause problems. stick to the proper documented roms in this section and you should be fine. Im running CM 10.2 with no problems

Did you have to do anything special to get it to work or did it just work out of the box?

Just check your cpu frequency after you boot and sign in. Sometimes the low frequency locks at max and burns up the cpu. Just set It to its lowest and you wont kill your phone.

Never mind it was my phone.
Good to see your'e up and running publicly and not in General anymore. Great work! Keep it up! :highfive:
Hmmm... must have been a glitch in the matrix...
Quick question. The last several nightlies from cm I have seemed to have a muted tone on phone calls Luke people having trouble hearing me. When I flash back to sense base roms, no issues. Anyone have any of the same type issues here?
It Werks!
Xposed frameworks, Modoco toolkit and a little build.prop editing needed.
