Hello all,
Today it's the third day with my LG Watch R. All in all I like it very much, although I think that the usability of the Samsung Gear 2 Neo (which I had before) is slightly better. After three days of using, I experienced some annoying bugs. Maybe it's just my fault, so maybe you are able to help me?
1. Sometimes the Watch doesn't receive any notifications. In this case my phone (Galaxy S 5) is blinking green because I received a Whatsapp message, but I got no notification on my watch...
2. Sometimes my watch doesn't vibrate, when I get a notification. (Although it worked before)
3. I don't understand, when the notification will be displayed in "fullscreen" and when it's just a small card on the display of the watch. I liked it very much on my Gear 2 Neo, that the notification are displayed in fullscreen while vibrating. Sometimes the LG Watch R does it similar, but the most of the time it only displays it as a card.
4. I can't turn the watch off, while charging it??
5. A Facer watchface stucks after several seconds. It only goes on, when I touch the monitor. Then it stucks again.
6. Is there a wear App, with which I'm able to read whatsapp messages at any time (and not only when I get a notification)?
7. Whatsapp again: Sometimes I see the pictures someone sent me in the background, sometimes not. I'm never able to see them as a real picture on the display at all.
I would be very happy, if someone is able to help me in some points. Maybe there are more people having these problems?
Many thanks in advance!!
Welcome to the Wear World
Same for me, my SW2 is more usefull than my LG-R and very very ..... better for all notifications. Notification are not the the highlight of wear.
Completely right Dersie, AWear has a very long way to go.

1. It only happens to me with WhatsApp ... not always though
2. Never happened .. maybe the vibration was weak and you've missed it.
3. The notification that will be pushed by the phone (like a message) will be first displayed full screen for few seconds, then it will become small for you to pick up when you want. The GNow cards that are informational only (stocks, weather) are generated by the GNow daemon in the watch itself (based on your GNow activity on the watch) and those will be displayed directly as small, informal cards.
4. The watch face is turning black by itself if the watch is not moving (I have no idea if it's related also to the horizontal position). This behaviour is independent of the charging status. So, leave it laying down on the table and you will see that it will go into a save power mode by itself (also when you put it to charge). Is taking few minutes to get into that state.
5.That is a purely Facer problem. Not watch's fault. I've bought Facer as well as WatchMaker and both had hiccups. Watchmaker is my option so far and is my daily driver for weeks, w/o any problem.
6. -------
7. Works for me but I saw it depends on the size of the picture (the large ones take more to be transferred via BT on the watch, for viewing).

1. The App needs to support it (or at least use a compatible notification type) - I also use a handful of apps that don't work (most notably those that have persistent notification to keep service alive and just change the content - this will not work with Wear)
2. For me it works flawlessly, but it's possible the watch "misses" a notification for some reason. Some apps also don't vibrate until you dismiss a previous notification from them.
3. Not sure what you mean, but card behaviour depends in part on the watchface you use - try Pujie or Watchmaker, it can be customized on both
4. Yes, this is impossible, the watch will always turn on. Maybe you can try charging it in recovery or bootloader, but that would burn the screen. You can put it in airplane mode while on charge, though. Also, if you have "Mute connected phone" selected, this will be disabled while on the charger, so no need to worry about missing something. Why would you want to do that, anyway?
5. This is normal, there are two modes for watchfaces - the "active" mode where everything is moving and shining, and "ambient" which is a lighter mode to save battery life - you want this mode to light up as few pixels as possible and there are no animations - you want this Avoid watch faces that have thick non-moving elements (like a center of a crown) - best is just a thin font with digital clock.
6&7. I don't use whatsapp, but this mostly depends on whatsapp and less on the watch.

Hi all,
First of all thank you very much for your answers so far!
1.
@ro_explorer: Yes, thats right, it's mostly whatsapp, but I think I experienced also this problem on e-mails
@Zviratko: I see. But it's very confusing in the first days of using the watch
I uninstalled Mini Launcher for Wear yesterday und now I don't have any missed notifications. Maybe it has something to do with Mini Launcher and Lollipop?
2.
See point 1. After uninstalling it, the watch vibrates as it should.
3.
This is the point I still don't understand. For example on my Samsung Gear 2 a notification stay in fullscreen for 5 seconds and then the watch is shown again and I can see this notification in the notifications tab. It's very random on my LG Watch R, when the notification is being showed in full screen (not a "big" card, it was full screen, like swiping to this card).
But, also here, I never saw a fullscreen notification after uninstalling Mini Launcher?!
4. Now I understand this behavior! In important things like showing notifications the watch seems so stupid but in this case, the watch is very smart. Hurray!
5. Okay, I will try watchmaker then, thanks! @ro_explorer
7. I see, that makes sense. Maybe I was just too fast for the watch. By the way: Are the pictures on your watch in good quality @ro_explorer ? Mine are looking like 50x50 pixels or something like this
It's very sad, that the wear system still needs so much to develop. I thought it is stable, like the Gear 2 was (c'mon, it's Samsung, normally they are not the kings in developing..). Hopefully it will change in the next months, when the iwatch arrives the stores. I love the design of the watch and don't want to miss it, but these bugs and problems are driving me crazy :crying:
Hi,
I have just added a "make notifications vibration stronger" feature in last SWApp Launcher Wear version:

anyone who tried smartwatch sw2? is it compatible with xperia sp and how does it goes?
Yes I got one! It works well, I don't keep it always connected but in certain situations it is very comfortable to see the notifications on the fly, with a vibration on your wrist... I use mainly Watchit and not all of the extensions available, some of them (for example gmail) are unuseful, because with Watchit you can see all the notifications you want on your watch, from every app or from those which you selected.
It doesn't drain much battery on stock rom, also because you have to consider that the screen time of the phone will be reduced. The battery is very good: if you use the SW2 very intensively you're gonna have to charge it in 3 days, but if you use it mainly as a watch and not always connected you can easily arrive to 5-6 days of usage.
The annoying things are the few watchfaces (I think 8, and some of them are very similar) and the fact that when you read a notification from the smartwatch it doesn't automatically mark it as read on the phone. Sony should update it more, because I think that it could have more potential, even if it's not supported by a great hardware, it works quite well. You don't have to expect a computer on your wrist or something that makes miracles, just a nice watch (with the metal strap I think it looks very good, and the reflective display is great to always see the time) to see your notifications when you're busy and you can't keep watching at your phone, and then it has some cool stuff like vibration alarm, timer, weather app, notes, find-your-phone app, torch and others.. Hope that this can help, sorry if I wrote a lot
I have sw 2 and sp . it work normally
No problem anymore.
seem this world will be filled with smart devices
I have it, Works fine for sports apps (endomondo, runtastic..) but I not advise purchase it,there are better options on the market
Thoughts on it, display in sunlight, battery life, handling of notifications, look/feel of it on your wrist..... basically anything to do with the watch!
i like it. granted that its a new class of its own, i still get confused especially when i get multiple notifications on an app (ie hangouts). its confusing where the group text starts or if im still being shown a private text..
the screen is kinda hard to read in direct sunlight but tilting it a bit or using a different watch face helps.
i like the feel of it.. i preferred this over the g watch coz of the added feature and the look.
I really like it; however, screen is difficult to see in sunlight at times; screen is also a smudge magnet which adds to difficulties in seeing the display outdoors.
Love it - compared to the sony smartwatch and the Galaxy Gear it really has great improvements. Only Day 2, but my initial thoughts:
Pros
- Look/feel - it is little large (I don't have big wrists) but still stylish.
- Screen: awesome that the clock is always on, this was my biggest gripe about the Gear
- Usefulness: I've spent time training Google Now, and that's really paid off. Notifications mean i take my phone out of my pocket a lot less, and Google Now surfaces reminders and other useful info pretty well (although you don't have a lot of control over the order of notifications etc). The fact that it syncs dismissed notifications on the phone immediately is, in a word, awesome
- Apps: early days yet on this, but most big apps I'm sure will integrate so you can do the key features easily
- Voice recognition works great so far
Cons
- No speaker means if you want to do stuff without looking at the screen with your voice, it's harder. But seems like something I can live with
- Charging dongle is kinda annoying to fit on, and have to remember to travel with
- Starting an app (say Fit) takes a few too many swipes (if you're in a place where you don't want to be speaking to your wrist...)
A lot of the other potential "cons" like not many watch face designs, no feature to locate your phone (I know there's an app for this though) I reckon will play out over time and Google can fix pretty quickly...

Take a look at this one for that: Wear Aware
i'm pleasantly surprised with how much i'm enjoying it.
my first full day with it will be tomorrow so i haven't taken it outside in the sunlight much yet, but checking email, counting steps, reading and replying to texts (i use evolve and it works great) is great and much more reliable and smoother than it was on my OG gear, and it's proving to be far more useful than my pebble.
the strap is actually quite comfortable and i'm glad i didn't buy a new strap before getting the watch.
the charging cradle, if you put it on tab side first it snaps in much easier. it's annoying but i haven't found it to be the spawn of lucifer as some people were screaming about it. treat it like part of a $200 gadget and it will be fine. mash it on like the hulk and it's going to break, it is plastic tabs after all.
i used it for about 7 hours today and it's now around 65% remaining. moderate use, but i def was clicking and swiping for no reason since it's new as well. i am pretty sure i'll have to charge it every night, but i don't sleep with a watch on and i charge my phone every night too, so i don't see it as being a big issue. my pebble lasted longer, but it would often die since i didn't have a set pattern on when to charge and would head out and a few hours later realize i had 20% left.
so in short, i'm happy, yes there are growing pains but those are the early adopter blues.
So far very please for what it can do. Regarding bot visible in sunlight, tell me what phone is visible in sunlight. None of them are great, only the kinfpdle due to the ink screen it has. I can wait till indoors or in shade. 9 more days testing and then deciding to keep or not. Off charging cradle at 6:30am today and as of this post still has 34% left. About the same as my previous Gear watch.

The number of apps pouring in each day are a great sign for the platform as a whole. The Tizen gears were nothing like this.
Quick reply.... I like it. Had Nero, no comparison.
I've had a few issues and design factors that I'd like changed:
Hate the alarm mute icon. I would love to figure out a way to hide that on the clock face. Would make the watch look more watchie if you will.
Also would like to only wake the watch from the button vice touchscreen, or atleast an option to set that insettings.

This really made me LOL
I'll be the lone wolf in the wilderness by bucking the trend and saying that I'm very disappointed with my Gear Live. I'm a gadget lover and really wanted to love this device. But I was far more enthusiastic about this thing before I actually received it. Once I had one, I quickly grew disappointed with it.
Out of the box, pairing with my Nexus 5 took multiple attempts. Once I finally did get it paired, only the stock apps would work. Any apps that I downloaded from the Play store would run on my phone but the watch interface would never show up (no matter how many times I tried to force the apps to sync via the Android Wear app or rebooted the watch).
Factory resetting the watch and starting again cleared up that problem but I still found the functionality of the watch to be quirky at best. Add to that the fact that the screen is virtually impossible to read outdoors, the lack of support for continuous heart rate monitoring, and the sudden dramatic drop in my Nexus 5's battery life (which cleared up after I uninstalled the Android Wear app).
Bottom line for me is that this isn't ready to replace my old fashioned watch. So until I read about some new killer Wear app that I can't live without, the Gear Live had gone back into its box to be stored away. I'm hoping that the software will mature quickly to a point where I can give it another try.
Does gear live suport sleep monitoring? Can it automatically figure out that user is cycling?
How good is the fitness tracking on it?

So I bought the LED flip cover for my S7 Edge (EF-NG935). Although its a really good quality case I have issues with its software. The LED's on the case display the time, receiving a call or a text and afterwards it goes dark. There is no way for me to see if I have a notification on my phone. Usually the phone LED would flash slowly notifying me to check my phone. Other than that the Flip cover LED does not notify me for any general notification (viber, facebook etc). Not even when i receive a message on them. So there is no way for me to see that i just received a message or that I had received a message. Other than that it doesn't display music bars when music is playing or the volume.
What it would be excellent is that the LED's should be always on (hence low consumption). In case of a notification it should display the icon of the app that I got a notification from. The LEDs are quite a lot so its easy to figure out what app send the notification. The case costed 70 Euros which are quite a lot. There should be a customization software or something. Samsung needs to address this issue. My ROM version is : G935FXXU1APAW
I agree 100%. One of the great things about Android phones are the LED notifications, but this cover covers it and it should IMO show notifications on the cover.
Just a simple blinking diod would even be good enough.
Disappointing
Or make the dot leds always on! Can we edit it's settings with root? Does anyone have knowledge how to? The led view flip cover is really nice and has potential. But right now it's not even working right.
I reported the issue to samsung...but I'm not expecting much...xda devs is the only salvation haha. Any rom cookers that can help?
When i went to a samsung store to buy the led flip case, the first one i used had an issue like yours so we cracked open another case and tried it on and the 2nd one works like a charm and as a matter of fact no issues until now.
My previous experiences tell me that the sensor itself is faulty on the case. Go to your nearest samsung store and try a new led flip case. See if the issue is still there on a new case.
Does it show all general notifications? Like what's up, Facebook, etc? Because mine shows only time, battery charging, incoming call, and sms. No general notifications...and furthermore it should stay on all the time so I know I had a notification..like the phone led! I'll go try another one Monday...but I still want to see customization on the led case. Always on option...app icons etc.
Please explain how your case works? General notifications etc...
Ok so I was doing some googling on this, and found that it seems to work with Nova Launcher Prime + TeslaUnread (their unread badge plugin). It seems to show four dots spinning on other Samsung LED flip covers.
I don't have Nova Launcher Prime, so I can't test it. If you do, please feel free to try!
edit: ok so I've got nova launcher prime now, and it still doesn't work..
I got my info from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/note-4/accessories/led-case-review-t2993839/page2
edit 2: from reading a bit more, the note 4 led cover had some support for 3rd party apps, but that seems to be gone with S7 LED cover..
So there is a way to control it! We just need the software! Great work @dogans ! Anyone who can give us some help? I'm sure its not such a hard thing to do...if it could only take the notification bar icons...and show em on..that would be great. For example if you have a viber text...it should show a viber icon always on till you read it!

Notification only works with standard sms, prompt to swipe for call only happens when receiving calls, music player led only works with samsung music app, alarm clock with samsung built in clock app.
No 3rd party notification support.
Led doesnt stay lit all the time.
It was meant to do that.
And if u wanna check the time u can press the power/lock button.
Well that's no good. First of all..even if I get a standard sms or call..after it lids up for some seconds then it goes dark. The phone led is covered so how I supposed to notice I got a notification. If someone is willing to modify its settings or make a small app to take control of it that would be great. It's highly inefficient as is.
Luckily i read it. I was planning to buy one. Saved some money there.

No you should buy it...it's a really nice case! Even without the notifications...and I'm sure it's a matter of time till we get it right! Haha! I don't think there is a better case..leather plus led
Update: the case works with samsung music player. Wish it would stay on all the time. Volume shows up as well. So the only thing that doesn't work is general notifications and always on (which it's a must if you ask me)

Im not too sure but the number of leds there > number of lcds on a 5" lcd smartphone. If its always on, theres bound to be a huge battery drain
Well at least one led should fade in and out just to let you know you have a notification... Like the phone LED on top of the screen. Can someone write an app to control it? Or at least enable general notifications.
hi, i got problem with this s7 edge led flip case. somethimes it show the clock when i close it but sometimes not. already claim the warranty, and got new one but sadly it happen again after several hour using. one thing i noticed when the led it not show , then put my phone back on metal object suddenly led is working. what do u guys think, problem came from the case or the phone itself?
Probably nfc interference... The case works fine here. Except the above complaints. Try testing it on someone's else's phone. And try your nfc with another phone as well. If both works fine its a software problem. Hard reset!

I have the same problem like this. If the phone
attached with another phone the LED
can work properly,
But if not attached the LED not working.
Picked one up today, tried the hopeless Samsung Experience store in London - who had no S7 Edge cases at all !!!
Went to Carphone Warehouse and got a 3 for 2 deal, but again only bought the LED as that was all they had. Works fine, but boring the led as always with Samsung great idea (hardware) poor software failure to exploit hardware potential.
so did anyone figure out how to modify its software? it shouldnt be that hard i guess.
I've always found myself explaining to people about how great the Pebble 2 is which many people never really knew about because it's not one of the more expensive and prestigious brands like an Apple Watch. Don't get me wrong, I'm a Tech Junkie and can afford whatever watch I want, but I'm also not one looking to pay a higher price just to wear something to impress people - I want good functionality, practicality and value. Nothing could match my Pebble 2. When I told people I only need to charge it once every 5-7 days, they are flabbergasted. Heart Rate Monitor? Check. HUGE selection of custom 3rd party apps. Check. Design your own custom watch face with dynamic stats (like temp, phone signal strength, etc.)? Check. Waterproof to the point you can swim with it on? Check.
All that, under $150? Check.
Now, my eyes have grown old and I can barely read the text messages that come through as it is a pretty small face. I don't NEED color - I prefer long battery life. So what's out there (I'm an Android Phone User) that people would say is the closest replacement that has a bigger screen? Maybe I just keep wearing my Pebble and wear trifocals all the time - no thanks.
My MUST haves are:
- Long battery life (no more than 2 charges per week are necessary)
- Waterproof (can swim in it)
- Heart Rate Monitor
- Large screen, but I'm not an NFL player so not too gigantic
Nice to haves but not MUSTS:
- SOME degree of customization (some 3rd party apps, custom watch screen design, etc.)
- Built in GPS (I really don't need this - I'm not a runner and my phone is always with me, so would rather avoid paying extra for it, but if I have to have it to get other stuff I must have then so be it.)
All I really need the watch to do is: tell me the date and time, show my text messages and notifications (with setting to increase default text size), track my fitness activities, and don't bug me about charging it every 1-2 days.

Can you give some examples of "connected features" you think that most users would find extremely useful in their daily lives? I've found with many devices, a lot of bells and whistles are just that, bells and whistles to brag about having and when you look at your actual use of the device, you find you really don't use those features.
For example, on my Pebble 2, I can reply to text messages both using canned text responses or voice transcription by talking into the watch. I've had the watch for like 3 years and I've used the text reply maybe two or three times and the voice transcription once. When I used it, I thought, "that was sort of cool." But then why didn't I ever use it again? Because it wasn't THAT useful considering 99% of the time I have my phone sitting next to me or in my pants or jacket pocket and talking to my watch I look like a complete DORK. I can just easily type the reply on my phone. The notification is what's important as sometimes I'm in another room, or have it in my jacket in a place I can't hear the notification or feel the vibration.
So I'm still quite interested in what "connected features" a Bip doesn't come with that are so useful?

With most all of that, shopping list, tasks, moon location, notes - can you explain what *specific benefits* there are to using your watch instead of your phone to input information (via keyboard or voice) and to read lists of information (considering the phone has a much bigger screen)? Why is using the watch so much better to do those things?

I just switched back from an Amazfit Pace to my Pebble 2 SE. Notifications just don't work reliably on the Amazfit, and all the fitness stuff is too much for me. I just want a geeky watch with working notifications. That's a Pebble 2 SE

I've also returned my pace due to bad battery life and notification reliability. I'm using a BIP and the notifications are there in real time(using gadgetbridge like before with PTS) and it gives me a minimum of 4 WEEKS of battery life :highfive:
No single freeze or glitch since months, absolutely reliable for that price! Custom watchfaces easily made.
My 2nd Pebble 2 HR just died & I've been shopping to replace it, but havent found anything that does everything I need it to, or that my Pebble used to. I had upgraded to Rebble prior to their deaths, paid for voice and weather since Rebble was up. I had found some good sites to investigate: Smartwatch Series website lets you look at detailed valuations of specs and comparisons of many smartwatches.
Battery is one of my biggest anxieties, but glowing screens or timeouts also was a concern. I tried the Samsung Gear Sport, then the Samsung Galaxy Active 2, and although they had many great features and 2+ days of use between charges (Active 2 only) with comparable use-time to my pebble, the screen glowed if on all the time, and when I went swimming, the screen face would change unless I locked it before entering the water.
I settled with a compromise... I was able to get a new PowerWatch 2 Luxe edition (usually $699) for $400. Still, way to expensive, but, I get messages (no reply), health basics, always on LCD screen (no glow) with back-lit ability, Heat Rate and GPS, and NO CHARGING NEEDED. EVER. Solar and thermoelectric engine (backup wireless charging dock included just in case) keep it charged always. I can't do voice, can't customize my watch face, can't load apps (stopwatch and timer are there), and no weather.

Interesting charging design maybe something for the future watches and prices will drop hopefully...
Why not just buy a brand new Pebble 2 on Ebay for low $100 range? You could by two of them, one for future, and save money while we all wait for someone to actually design a good watch for a good price, like the Pebble 2. The only thing lacking on the Pebble 2 is that it's not designer/fancy looking. Otherwise it is still by far the best bang for the buck - battery lasting nearly a week! Lots of apps and customizations. Puts these higher priced watches to shame in the flexibility of the functionality and battery life. But it's no status symbol that people want for their watch, unless you consider being an intelligent buyer a status symbol. LOL.

The problem when buying those pebbles: the battery is several years old and might not have a good capacity.
Actually I'm testing a Honor Magic Watch 2 and it's very good, actually one week usage with GPS and lots of calls and down to 49%:good:

I read a review and it sounds promising if you can live without the ability to download apps.
My main question would be, on my Pebble, I can get notifications from all the apps on my phone and select which ones I want to get and which ones I don't want to get, so I'm not just limited to SMS and Email notifications. Can this watch do that, so for instance if the Amazon app displays a notification about a shipment on my phone, will it show on the watch?
Also wondering if a firmware upate fixed this...
"Talking of notifications, we found these to be a little buggy. Most of the time phone notifications came through to the device without issue, but now and then they didn’t come through until some time after they should have, and we also found some notifications came through to the watch multiple times, though we never worked out why."

Everything is working so far. Your quote to my post for example, was notified by fair mail which I selected and shown then on the watch, see pics As long as a notification pop-up is shown on the status bar it will work, but one app did not work it's delta.chat. Don't know why, still investigating. Maybe a app or health issue

I'm guessing you can't prevent notifications from certain apps on only the watch?
Did you consider the Amazfit GTS? They seem similar but the Amazfit I think is considerably cheaper.

You can select the notification what you want to be shown on the watch, see screenshot. Or do you want to have a notification only to be shown on the watch, but not on the phone?
I ordered both watches and the following are my personal pros and cons.
Amazfit GTS: 128€
-can't make calls
-no storage for music
-GPS not that accurate
-no SpO2
Honor Magic Watch 2: 146€
-round design(I wanted a round watch again)
AOD on my brand new Galaxy Watch 3 doesn't appear to be working.
1. I have turned on the AOD via the watch.
2. I have also Disabled any active power-saving modes and made sure night mode is turned off.
3. I have also done a reset but this has made no difference.
Any ideas or suggestions?
Are you using an app like Watchmaker or Facer? I don't know about the stock faces, but if they have an on pixel ratio (OPR) >15% it will become automatically blacked out in dim mode.
And Watchmaker has a setting that you have to change from simple dim face to active dim face.
Make sure it's not loose when you wear it, otherwise it will consider itself as not being worn and goes into black screen mode to save battery

Hi, I have the original galaxy watch 46mm, not a fix, but there is an app called 'I am alive' that you can use to keep the screen on permanently. I get just under a day with everything on at full brightness.
App:
I am Alive - Apps on Galaxy Store
Keep your gear to be active (for specific purpose e.g. Live Demo, Presentation, etc.), you can enable or disable by just toggle active switch and press HW key to go out from the app, the app will r...
