Hi, I have a Verizon Galaxy tab that I got from a co-worker who used to have it hooked up with verizon's plan. I only use it as wifi only.
I would like to root it and would like to know the best rom and the simplest way to root the device.
Thanks for any advice or help.
Razor1968
Hi,
I can only give you general recommendations.
1. Always back up your applications and data before you start any modification. This includes the original Verizon firmware also using 3rd party tools (ROM manager by ClockworkMod) for example! Transfer this backup to your PC. Since if something goes wrong you can not load back the original Verizon software.
2. Choose your custom firmware and ROM according to the Galaxy Tab model number, vendor and other specifications. This requires a bit search on the net.
3. Read all instructions before you start the modifications.
4. If the device does not load after the reboot because either the ROM or the kernel is not working properly, do not panic as long as you can put it into download mode (yellow Android logo) nothing is lost.
5. Learn how to recover your device using Heimdall or Odin and understand each file and its function these applications are using. Help is also available on the forum regarding this part.
You can find lots of topics on this forum with instructions. Also there are videos on Youtube which can help you.

V3 Bluetooth
I too used the V3 tool to root but at the end my phone wouldn't recognize the Gear. I ended up wiping everything, used the V1 then the V2 and finally got the gear back to where I could use it. Did the OTA and all seems okay. Going to try an root using V2 instead. My question is once that is all successful what can I do different? Can I download a keyboard onto the Gear? As a NOBE where do I go to find a new ROM , find out how to flash it and then what I can do from there? I will apologize upfront for my beginner questions. Thanks

APK Apps aren't working?
I installed Nova Launcher and Flesky Keyboard and each time I try to use them on the Gear Live I get this message "unfortunately Nova Launcher has stopped". Can anyone tell me what I've done wrong or need to do to be able to use these apps on my Gear Live?
Did you have time to test it with the recent 5.0.1 update? I'd love to use your Utility to restore my watch to its factory state but I'm not sure if it would break (I know, there's always a chance).
Do you think I can try flashing the images without damaging it?
Used V3 of this utility to flash stock image after of temp rooting for data extraction. Now it won't pair with any phone anymore. No Bluetooth. Can't get adb to work as I can't authorize the computer to flash anything else.
Watch is a useless now. Heads up to others.
At leat I have an excuse to buy a Moto now
UPDATE: IT LIVESSSSS!!!!!!!!!!
So I didnt know that the watch could go into fastboot with some custom taps and such. Did those, got into fastboot, used V2 toolkit and all is well now!!!
How to for others:
1. Hold the power button until the Gear Live reboots
2. When you see the Samsung Logo on the screen swipe your finger from top left to bottom right of screen twice while still holding power
Success!!!!!!!!!!
No Download
Hey all,
Am I the only one who is not getting a ZIP file when the download starts; the file that downloads is not usable. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Galaxy Gear Unauthorized
I am not able to pair phone with watch via Bluetooth after using this tool. I unlocked the bootloader but when I could not use the watch I decided to relock the bootloader and reattempt the steps again. Now I am getting (R3AF700JARM UNAUTHORIZED). I factory reset watched became a developer and enable ADB debugging, but I still cannot unlock the bootloader and still shows unauthorized. WHat is the next step
I cannot get it to recognize my watch
I purchased a Samsung Gear Live refurbished off amazon and it had Build Number = sprat-userdebug 4.4W.1 KGW42N 1387258 dev-keys installed. It will not update and I want to be able to put other watch faces on it. I heard that if you reset to stock google wear it would fix it.But I used your software v3 and installed adb drivers but does not recognize the watch?
Any help would be Great!!!

Read the user debug thread. Try v2
Superuser.apk in my Gear Live
Hello.
After using the Tool, I was able to restore my Gear Live, and get updates (Originally it comes with bad firmware, from bestbuy).
I only have one problem. After several updates, I have AndroidWear 5.1.1. I got OTAS from 4.4w, justo normally, but the process
left me with Superuser.apk installed.
I can't uninstall it, and if I try to run it, I get an error, and the apk closes.
Is there something I can do, to eliminate this app? I tried with temproot, but I can't access to original system folder in my Gear Live.
Can you, or anyone help me with this problem?
I flashed KMV78Ystock.zip. In theory, it is a stock rom dump. I can't see the Superuser.apk, if I mount the image.
I just want my Gear Live factory restored. I hope you can help me.
Thanks in advance!

Gear Live watch only shows TWRP menu from team win
So i am not a programmer and don't know most of this stuff, I just followed instructions. I installed root, recovery, and system images through cmd prompt. I lost bluetooth and other functionallity but it seemed to update to a newer version. I then attempted to flash TWRP which put my phone in a state that only shows the TRWP menu. I have restarted, rebooted, tried installing other images but i really don't know what to do. Can anyone help, Please!
I have a note 5 phone
watch is reconditioned, it was in some kind of mode that is not the original factory mode, many features were not working or not there. that is why i started this process.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2846696 do stock restore, make sure you have watch plugged in, factory reset and connected bluetooth to phone. The updates will begin

I have Samsung Galaxy S Plus I9001 running Android Gingerbread 2.3.6.
I wanted to encrypt the phone, but I cannot find any option to do so in the settings.
I read that Android phones had the option of encryption from Android 2.3.4, and so, there should be an option available, but I cannot find any.
So, question is, how can I encrypt the device?
My phone is having the stock ROM, but is rooted.
Hmm.. no reply.
Well, I did take a look at this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s2/themes-apps/app-enable-device-encryption-exchange-t1405165
I even unrooted my phone, and performed a factory reset to run the above mentioned app... but now I find that the links in the above thread for the app lead nowhere.
In my search a few days ago, I think I somehow found the above app in the Play Store, but at that time I was looking for something else. Now I cannot find the app. Can anyone please direct me to it?
Or, if there is any other method to encrypt the phone, please share.
I have been looking for 3 days now for the US firmware for the SM-T550NZASXAR (might be the same as SM-T550NZAAXAR) and I can't find it. Sam mobile has the files for many countries but fails to show the US version. Am I missing something?
The digitizer keeps losing the touch sensing ability but I'm pretty sure it's a software problem as it comes back after maybe 15 minutes then it stops again after about 20 minutes of use. I want to try and re-install the OS with Oden and see if it clears whatever is going on. I'm hoping it's just bad cache or something.
The Canadian version is usually the same but double check just in case

Same Issue. I been also looking for US firmware for my SM-T350 Samsung Galaxy Tab A. I see it available for all other countries but not for USA. For all people that live in the US like me. We need to all nag Samsung & complain cause obviously they only support it for all other countries & not US. It pisses me off & it's so unfair. I need the firmware for part of the procedure to fix my rooted tab that's in bootloop
Upset with T-350 firmware situation
I've experienced the same disatisfaction with the non-availability of firmware. I'm also having trouble finding TWRP dedicated for this, kingrooted, device (sm-t350). Any insight? I've read the xda thread on compiling twrp on my own but I'm thinking that's still a bit over my head. I bought multiple cool apps since rooting my device only to find out I need twrp (or cwm) to make use of what these app have to offer.
Thx

twrp for SM-T350 is file name twrp-28.71-t350.tar
I can't link or i would link you it. Just google search that file name and there is one from android file host
Flash with Odin 3.10.7
Tested and works perfect
Seth50 gets all the credit just confirming it works
WOW! i have been messing with this for hours and cant believe that the samsung smart switch offered such an easy solution.
i made the mistake of flashing a rooted firmware file before unlocking the bootloader and soft bricked it. the smartswitch asks for the model# (SM-T350) and the serial number (no, im not putting mine here), tells you to enter odin mode and then it does all of the dirty work for you... amazing!
one thing to keep in mind is that the install for smart switch will not work on newer machines unless you install legacy software that you can find here https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/confirmation.aspx?id=5582

I realize this is an old thread, but looking for help. Purchased a Wifi-only Galaxy Tab A, and looking for the stock 6.0.1 ROM. The Smart Switch software doesn't downgrade it anymore. They've since updated the software to remove that capability, but even older versions still reapply Nougat. Sammobile.com doesn't seem to have it. Has anyone had success finding the stock MM US ROM for this tablet? If you're asking why, adb restore doesn't work on Nougat and I'm trying to restore backups without root. I have a second SM-T350 fresh out of the box, and restore is working. So, want to downgrade to official MM to restore, then maybe upgrade again if I feel like it....
Edit: Embarrassingly, it's in this same forum.... Download it now...I'll see myself out....

hey all;
i have installed Extreme_Debloated_V3_DeOdexed rom in my note 5 but i dont have access to smart switch anymore
i have backup there and i want to restore it how can i do that?
regards;
same with me. flashed my n9005 with darklord but cant access smart swith after installation. pls. help
If you can't open your Smart Swich app on your device for some reason (error in apk, permissions changed ect.)
You can find Most of- or All the files in the backup folder on your desktop.
You might have to pray around with the folder properties in order to find hidden files/files not supported by your pc...
If all else fails... Do a google search and download Huawei HiSuite (i know its a Samsung note 5 thread)..... I found out by chance it's somewhat universal.
(Admins please let me know if i broke any rules on this reply? This is my 1st ever reply on xda.)
