SCREEN RECORDING AND MIRRORING WITHOUT ROOT REQUIREMENT
Mirroring any android devices to Apple TV, Chromecast and PC.
YouMap is a one stop tool to meet all your needs for Android screens. It can take screenshots. It can record screen and audio to movies. It works from the old Android 2.3 to the latest Android L 5.0 versions.
YouMap performs real-time audio and video recording and streaming.
YouMap can mirror screens (including audio) of Android phones or tablets to large displays (TV, PC or Browsers), using VNC, AirPlay and Chromecast protocols. It can stream screen and audio in HD quality at real time speed. This way, you can watch any movies, perform presentations, or project any apps from Android devices to Apple TV, Chromecast, or Raspberry Pi devices (our free rPlay receiver software is required on Raspberry Pi devices).
YouMap also supports audio only mode, that you can stream any audios from android devices to your speakers via Apple AirPort or Google Chromecast devices. YouMap supports system audio as well as Microphone audio.
This app works on rooted and non-rooted android devices. However, for non-rooted devices, every time after turning the device completely off and on, you will have to connect your device to a Windows PC or Mac using a USB cable, then run a free desktop program, VMLite Android App Controller, to start the server on your device. Once the server is started, you can disconnect your device.
Rooted devices, such as those running Cyanogenmod Android, work right out of box by simply clicking the Start button on our App.
You can download our desktop program using this link:
http://www.vmlite.com/vaac/
If you can't start the server on your device, e.g., S3, Nexus 7/10, try to change to Camera Device(PTP), instead of Media Device(MTP).
FEATURES:
- no need to root your android devices
- supports WIFI and USB connections.
- works on API level 10 and above, including Gingerbread, ICS and Jelly Beans, up to Android 5.0.
- supports only ARM devices, no support for x86 or MIPS yet.
- supports Apple TV through AirPlay Mirroring mode, frame rate can be as high as 30 fps
- supports Apple's AirTunes protocol to stream only audio to Apple TV or Airport devices
- supports Google Chromecast devices
- supports typical VNC clients, TightVNC, Real VNC, etc.
- supports Java enabled browsers. You can connect to the android device from a browser using a Java applet
- supports HTML5 compatible browsers (with audio support), you can connect to your android device without any other installations
- supports auto rotation and remote rotation
- supports VNC password
- supports scale and rotation
- supports start on boot for rooted devices

New Roku Streaming Stick

Roku has announced a new HDMI stick that's obviously intended to compete with the Chromecast: http://reviews.cnet.com/8301-33199_...ck-vs-google-chromecast-how-do-they-stack-up/
It costs $50, but comes with a WiFi remote.control that's probably worth the extra $15. It also supports 5 GHz WiFi, unlike the Chromecast. It looks like it will be the same as the current Roku models under the hood in terms of processor and firmware.
So if the Roku 3 already implements DIAL, what Chromecast apps will run on the new Roku Streaming Stick if it's also a DIAL device? Are the apps developed with Google's sdk Chromecast-specific?
Update: siratfus points out below that the Engadget article says that the hardware will be based on the lower-spec Roku 1. Does that mean it won't support DIAL? Because my Roku 2 XS has the same spec, and it doesn't support DIAL even with the latest Roku firmware. But why would Roku introduce a product to compete with the Chromecast and not have it support DIAL?

I don't see any info that suggests it would support "Chromecast" type of streaming. Face it there are hundreds of options for media boxes/sticks, I wanted a standard media box/stick I'd just get a Android stick. No limitations to apps there! I personally love how Chromecast works in that you have rich full featured control on your phone/tablet but once the streaming starts it hands off everything to Chromecast and you can do what you want with your phone/tablet. I just wish all apps allowed you to transition from one phone/tablet to another seamlessly like Plex (some others do this do but can't remember right now). What i mean by this is that you can resume control from another device. Last wish is that a new Android TV (Google TV) comes out with HDMI pass-though and Chromecast built in. No changing inputs and the ability to push content from any supported Chromecast app.

I believe DIAL compliance would allow the Roku stick to be seen by YouTube/etc.
However, the player (stick) end may be different between Roku and Chromecast if the player app isn't web-driven. I think one of the smart folks mentioned that Netflix has its own Chromecast-native app.
We'll have to wait and see... The 5 GHz band on the Roku stick will definitely give it an advantage, at least for households with a 5 GHz AP.
Personally I'm on the fence about the remote... If it supports the audio playback from the remote control that's a definite win though.

I read on endgadget that it's actually the Roku 1 crammed in a stick. On the Roku comparison chart, the Roku 3 is still listed as 5x faster than the rest. But cheap enough to own both, if only just for Amazon Prime.
is there any alternative APP remote control i can use for roku stick? something that works with WIFI DIRECT? i cant use my roku stick and its not connected to my wifi network any more
I have a question about Roku Stick is there anyway possible to install KODI on the Roku Stick

[GUIDE] Skype on TV

Hello,
Here a little guide to stream Skype on TV with Chromecast.
With Chromecast + Android,
we can make video call on TV with Skype.
The idea is to cast screen from Android to Chromecast / TV, then run Skype.
Cast screen and mirroring is the same.
Required :
- TV + Chromecast
- Android 4.4
- Chromecast app
- Skype (official version or fixed version here)
- MirrorEnabler here need ROOT if your device is not officially supported to Cast Screen with Chromecast
If the last version of Skype don’t work on your device, then install this fixed version : here.
MirrorEnabler enable mirroring from any device. Mirroring (cast screen) is the third functionality of Chromecast, which allow to duplicate your Android screen in real time to TV.
- Install Skype (I recommend the fixed version above).
- Install Chromecast on TV.
- Install MirrorEnabler (only if your device is not officially supported to Cast Screen). Enable its functions, reboot.
- Cast screen to Chromecast / TV from Chromecast app.
- Run Skype.
- Voilà !
May I be the first to say Thanks Dude ???
Has anyone successfully gotten the audio to stream through the TV as well?

I'm looking for a way to fix this for so long..
Thanks in advance
Wow nice, actually i'm using my chromecast with popcorntime... Will give a shoot to this, but it's the audio working or not?
I havent tried skype but everything else I've tried has the audio go through the tv, my device is officially supported if that makes a difference.

Can I use a super-cheap Android tablet

Can I buy a cheapo ($49 or less) Android 7" tablet to use as a remote for my Chromecast?
It will be a slow low-res tablet, but if it is KitKat 4.4 or higher will it do the job?
Remote control You mean? Installing apps to send to chromecast? It depend of the cores of the tablet and the tablet ram
As long as the Chromecast SDK continues to support the Android version mostly yes.
You'll be able to tell the chromecast to launch youtube, netflix, etc. You won't be able most likely to stream videos from the tablet to the Chromecast.
This all depends on the software you're using continuing to work with your version of Android however. Most applications all they do is tell the Chromecast what method to play a video and request status updates for where they are in the video. If Netflix, for example, decides that KitKat has a severe vulnerability in it and they are risking breaking their movie streaming contracts, they may bump up the minimum required Android version which would mean it would no longer be useful as a remote for you.
If Google stops supporting the older OSes for Chromecast, it would no longer be useful for you.
Right now, yes, it'll most likely work for you. Two years down the line, who knows.

[App] YouMap Chromecast Receiver for Android

This app turns android device to a Chromecast receiver. As far as I know, this is the only Android Chromecast receiver besides Google's own implementations.
It supports YouTube, Chrome browser tab mirroring, Google Play Music, Google Play Movies, and screen mirroring. Most 3rd party apps using Google Cast SDK should also work. Yes, it works on Amazon FireTV boxes and sticks, and other major brands of Android TV boxes.
This is the trial apk, which has full features, except this current apk will expire on Feb 29, 2016, so hurry up !

Hello huisinro,
App installs OK and looks very pretty.
When I try to cast to it from an Android Phone on the same wifi network it doesn't show up at all, also tried using the Chromecast Setup App from other android phoes too.
EDIT : Tried it on a LG G3 (d855)
Thanks Rob.
Did you try the screen mirroring from the Google chromecast app? It will search for the receivers.
You may need to reboot the router.
Any news on a Amazon App store release? Would love to buy your app but need to buy through Amazon so I can use on my Fire TV and other android devices through their app store.
Still working on a version for Amazon store release, look like it will be next month.
Great, thanks.
Would love support for amlogic devices. If you need a guinea pig im happy to help. Have also bought the paid version hoping support will come one day and help development
I have a Minix X8 and X8H, which are amlogic running Android 4.4, they are working fine. What is your AMLogic device model?
Its a vigica c70t running 4.2.2.
Ok, AMLogic before android 4.4 is notorious in not supporting low level Media Codec API, which is why not working .
I will see if I can use a software decoder.
Can you check if Google chrome browser works on your box?

That'll be what my MX Box needs too, if you recall. Really looking forward to the possibility.
YouTube app works on mine, not sure about in the browser. I'll edit this in a bit after I've checked.
Edit: Tried with https://youtu.be/azV0Y7v6wsg - definitely works in both the YouTube app and in Chrome, but not when attempting to cast it from another device. @huisinro
Apk updated , fixed iOS YouTube crashing issues
Thanks for the update. Did you install the chrome browser from google play?

Chrome works fine. So does netfix hulu youtube plex
What is the error when you cast YouTube to your box with YouMap? black screen?
I get unable to play video. Please choose anouther. But other apps that cast video i get a black screen with sound. But when i push the back button i get video for a second befor the app closes. Could it be an issue with stagefright on my device. Ive done a bit of research and most of what ive found points to that. I dont know much about it though
Sent from my SM-G900I using XDA Free mobile app
Yes, it's to do with Stagefright low level decoding API, which AMLogic does not support.
When you use amlogic boxes, does YouTube casting work? What about chrome tab mirroring? What about android screen mirroring?
Thank you for the great app!
I have installed Youmap Chromecast receiver into my Android settop box. where the result is strange. When I enable the Youmap receiver, all of my phone can't find it. After rebooting the router, my Nexus 4 can find the receiver only when the Android settop box connected to router through LAN cable. If the Android settop box is connected to router wirelessly, none of my phone could search it.
In the above successful case, the Nexus 4 can find and cast the screen to the Android settop box (procedure: Setting > Display > Cast screen > Select YouMAP (XXXX)). Although Nexus 4 and my Android settop box support Miracast, I'm pretty sure Nexus 4 is connected to the settop box by chromecast as I didn't enable Wireless Display and the search result clearly stated YouMap. On the other hand, the cast button didn't appear in Youtube app. Moreover, I tried it on my Moto G 2014 and it didn't find the receiver (procedure: Setting > Display > Cast screen).
Device list:
My Android settop box is MiBox 1S with Amlogic 8726-MX running Android 4.4
Nexus 4 running stock Android 4.4
Moto G 2014 running stock Android 5.0
D-link DIR-655 Wireless N router
