Hello guyz,
I m using philz touch recovery and tried aosb, cm 11, etc but each rom had one or the other problem in it.
1.Can I install the 4.1.2 mex retail zip after a wipe and clean or do i have to go back to earlier version of the recovery?
Which are the most stable roms out yet? Where everything works great... like in the mex retail and the ics. Which has some good dev options in it like paranoid android
Well, hate to say this, but every custom (non-stock) rom, regardless of Android version, has some sort of an issue. You either gotta find one that you can live with or stay stock. HoloBlur is probably what you're looking for -- Custom based on Mex Retail. Going back to stock, you're better of just flashing a fastboot with Myth and skipping the recovery flash, boot into recovery and let it root it for you as well as fix the recovery crap in /etc.

shouldnt you have a backup of stock so you could restore it and then just wipe data?
and i use cm11 cause the only 2 problems i have is a) the kit kat wifi issue and b) google play music will restart the phone if the screen is off. by cm 11 i mean the "official latest nightly) which was released a month ago and runs ten times faster than slim kat or any other rom ive used so far.

Hey whats the kit kat wifi issue and do think it will get sorted out soon? Im also trying to decide what rom to install looking for something stable like op.
Recently I moved from Verizon service to T-Mobile for my Verizon LG G2 (VS980). It is currently running 24A, rooted, debloated with custom recovery but I want to go back to stock and get up to the most recent stock ROM, rooted, debloated with custom recovery so I can back it up and then move forward with Cloudy G3. What is the best way to accomplish this since an OTA is out of the question at this point? Is there a 'back to stock' version of the most recent that I can use and then root, debloat and get custom recovery? Is there a version I can install that meets all my requirements?
I'd go with this rom, follow the instructions, there are steps to update your baseband to 26A.

Thanks for the reply. I installed the one you recommended and didn't really care for the ROM. I also installed Paranoid Android and CloudyG3. I end up with CloudyG3 being the new one for me as of right now. Everything works with the exception of tethering (tablet will connect but not get out to the internet) and T-Mobile App (it states it doesn't see a T-Mobile SIM but there is one in the phone). ROM seems responsive and very clean so far. Unfortunately it is 24a Baseband, which I can live with I guess. Hopefully CloudyG3 will get a Lollipop update soon as word is the G3's will be getting Lollipop within the next couple weeks. If anyone knows how to get tethering to work with a Verizon LG G2 on T-Mobile with CloudyG3 I would love to know the secret.
I'm running Liquid Smooth v3.2 10-28 and have baseband 24a. As the title states, if I install any other ROM (have tried CM, PacMan, Dirty Unicorn) then I get boot loops. I'm doing a clean install through TWRP (which is what I've always done up until now). Even my previous backups result in a boot loop.
Does anyone have any idea why this might be happening or how to fix it? Do I need to return to stock, re-root, and go from there?
Thanks in advance :fingers-crossed:
CM, PAC, and DU are all jb based. 24a is kitkat. You'll need to flash the 12b bootstack in xdabbeb's thread to run one of those roms.
Welp, now I feel ignorant >.<
Thanks for the info.

If you want CM with the 24A baseband.. (actually you need the 26A baseband with this one I believe)

switching roms
somewhat of a noob here...I am on verizon 26a modem, running xdabebb's G3 rom that was ported to the G2. Can i just flash this over top? Or do I need to work about Kernel issues? Also, does knock on/off work?

You'll need to flash the modem I have posted. And yes, knock-on/knock-off work! Enjoy!
Attempted to flash
Flashed 12b radio, but then got this error after I started to flash ROM. It started then after it flashed supersu I got the following:
unmount of /system failed; no such volume
assert failed: run_program("/system/bin/loki.sh") == 0
Can you help?
What recovery are you using? Also, did you do a clean install and in the order I posted?
beanstalk L is amazing...BUT!
I love the setup of this ROM..plenty of options plenty of customizations HOWEVER I've had two issues that are rather aggravating.. While using Pandora it will intermittently stop playing music to the point of having to reset the app...(might try uninstall and reinstall?) Also I'm having an issue that started while using Pandora and now happens every 15 mins it would seem (have not timed it) but its rather regular that my phone will reset randomly..tried wiping cache and dalvik and fixing permissions and it still does it! Any ideas??
did you do a clean install?
Doing well
yes i did, infact i flashed over to another 5.0 version just like the beanstalk build and it was nice but i wasnt satisfied with the overall layout like i was with beanstalk so i flashed back to beanstalk and ever since ive had 0 issues, its turned into my daily driver and i enjoy it throughly, thanks for posting this one up m8!
Quick question here. Does this have the ability to bypass VZW for the tethering/hotspot?
Great work
the best lollipop rom with no bugs and lot of options with great battery life for my vs980
I have a rooted lg g2 verizon with 24a, Can I flash this rom downloading to 12b without any problem ??
@mrlugo88
- If I understand what you are asking, yes. Tethering/Hotspot is enabled without the need to pay for the service from VZW!
@ycruzb
- You shouldn't have a problem. I've gone from 24A to 12B to 27A, etc without any issues.
No Cellular or Wifi
I ran into such a headache installing due to my own blunder, but now I have it working. I have to add, I LOVE the boot animation. Had to get past the Setup Wizard and reflash the 12B Radio to get signal on WiFi, but I cannot get data signal over LTE?
Baseband: 12B-M8974A-AAAANAZM-1.0.190050
Network: NAM1
Mobile Network Type: CDMA -eHRPD [this is odd, as I have STRONG LTE signal]
Roaming: Roaming [I'm aware this is known?]
Edit: Flashed back to stock 11A. No signal. took OTA to 12B, gained 4G LTE signal. Then future OTA's granted me signal as well.
Any idea what I might have done?
rom issues
Hi guys, I have a Verizon LG G2 (vs980) with a 24a radio. The rom not works for me, the flashing process gives me an error then I have flashed the 12b radio via twrp (2.8.4.0 version) and now my device is not booting on my stock rom (the verizon logo is showing up but anything else is going on ...). I know that I can flash the 24a radio to restore my previous radio but I didn't copied the zip of the 24a radio to the phone, so my question is how to copy the zip of the 24a radio to the phone via adb for flash it with the twrp ??
I hope you can help me, please !!!
I had to flash back to 11A via a .tot file, then upgrade all the way to 27A via OTA. I then did stump brute-force for root, flashed TWRP Recovery, then flashed to this ROM. It is working incredibly.

Hi! You should be able to use adb in TWRP. Which version TWRP are you running? You can also enable MTP in TWRP and then copy right from your PC. Also, did you did a clean install?
Thanks!
longtime lurker, firstime post--just wanted to say thanks for posting a solid rom and then following up with an update!
SIM card not recognized
Hi everyone, I have flashed this rom (5.0025) and it's amazing but doesn't recognize the sim card. I have a Verizon LG G2 (vs980 with 24a, downloaded to 12b with the flashing process) mobile on GSM. Some help please !!!!! I love lollipop and this rom.
I'm coming from a 27a build, I wanted to try lollipop, so I tried to flash this but i received an error
E:error executing updater binary in zip. '/sdcard/download/beanstalk-
I received error flashing both builds.
I'm on twrp v2.8.1.1

Thanks for any help
I can't seem to get init.d working. Can anyone confirm that this is working for them, and if so, did it work on a clean flash, or did you need to workaround?
Sent from my LG-VS980 using XDA Free mobile app
I recently got this phone and out of box it comes with VS98010A installed. I've been a big fan of Jelly Bean for various reasons, and I would like to install CM10.2 to start. I know KitKat and Lollipop is available, but I'd like start there.
I've been reading around XDA and trying to understand the process to installing roms on this phone. However, I feel like I'm all over the place and can't wrap my head around it all.
There seems to be four components that I need to understand:
Bootloader - Our devices have bootloaders that cannot be unlocked. However, we have 2 methods that allow us to get around them. They are known as loki and BUMP. loki came first and is the most supported. BUMP came later and produces a more "clean" flash.
Bootstack - I'm still not entirely clear on this, but it sounds like this includes many underlying components that allows the phone to function. It sounds like each ROM has it's own bootstack (eg. 10B, 11A, 12B, 17F, or 24A)?
Modem - The radio software that allows the antenna to work and connect to our carrier
Recovery- Software we use to flash files such as custom ROMS. modem, etc.
I'll start with the goal: I'd like to install CM10.2 using the latest bootstack and modem that is compatible with the rom.
Below are a number of questions that I have:
1. It sounds like each ROM might be built to only work with a specific bootstack and modem? Is there a way to tell what combination that might be just from the flashable ROM zip file?
2. To get to a specific bootstack, do I just upgrade to that specific stock verizon rom? 12B sounds like the last exploitable version. Being on stock 10A, does it make sense for me to KDZ/TOT to 12B first?
3, Is the CM10.2 rom not by default compatible with 12B and subsequently higher version as well? The question arises because of this thread here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2620733
4. What modem version should I use. Does it matter? I've ran into statements such as "all you need to do to run CM is flash the 12B modem"
5. The BUMP method sounds like the "cleanest" way to do this, but to my knowledge only recent roms are starting to support this method? As I want to flash CM10.2, I imagine I can't use the BUMP method?
6. Does the latest TWRP (openrecovery-twrp-2.8.5.0-vs980 as of right now) have any minimum bootstack requirement?
7. Is the recommended root method still with IORoot?
Thanks in advance for sharing your wisdom.
