Hi
I'd like to use an external DAC with my Nexus 6 but with CM12 it looks like I have no OTG support on USB port ! Is it a limit of current night build of CM ? or hardware limit of Nexus 6 ?
Thanks

Have you used this particular DAC before? If so, did you use it with your Nexus 6 before going to CM? Did you try another OTG cable?
I know those are basic question, just trying to find the root of your issue, I just plugged my Leckerton Audio mk II in and it worked with the newest CM night so it makes me think you are having an issue somewhere else.

I just switched to Nexus 6 and I switched it to CM*before checking if it was working I'll check with an other cable and perhaps upgrade to latest night build of CM*(I installed the first nightly avalaible for N6*!!

Im running CM 12-20150115 . Yeah try the newest build and perhaps try from a clean wipe in case you have some app interfering.
What DAC are you trying to use?

The Fiio E18 CM12-20150112 here !
I dont use CM, but do use BlissPop and it works fine with my AudioQuest DragonFly. Also if you use HD files you really need a HD player like USB Audio Player Pro.

So Vince I thought I just had an issue with my DAC, couldnt figure out what the problem was after a whole bunch of troubleshooting then realized I had my USB and OTG cable flipped (Phone->USB->OTG->DAC which is wrong). Perhaps this is your issue?

Good point, will check that thanks
I'm facing the same issue. I cannot use my USB drives on Nexus 6. My N6 is running the latest CM12.
It's not a hardware problem as the USB storage is accessible in TWRP recovery.

Can't you just use stick mount from the app store?

I would like to know if USB OTG is possible on X8?
I have a OTG cable which I tested on Xperia Arc S, and it works there.
Actually the usb flash memory LED turns on, and phone recognizes it but can't use it because it's not LiveDock or however they call their official dock.
but the point is cable works.
I have tried the same cable and flash drive on X8. drive's LED don't turn on and logcat doesn't write any massage.
It seems like nothing happened. nothing at all.
i tried this with a few alfs kernel + GDX combination. and now with last ones v06 and v022.
alfsamsung, once, on his kernel thread, told that USB OTG support is in the kernel.
So, I wan't to ask, is or hardware not capable for OTG, or something else has to be done in kernel/ROM.
did anybody else try this.
I just want to know, not to hope for it anymore, if it's not possible.
Thank you
P.S. I also tested with Hard drive that has external power supply
its qvestion for nAa and alfassamsung
Well, i hope then, they or anybody else that knows this will see this post and answer.
And my thanks goes to alfsamsung in advance, because he did say he included support in kernel, but can't test it:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=19237215&highlight=usb+otg#post19237215
And I have cable but nothing happens when I use it.
not a single logcat massage.
That's why I want to know if hardware supports it at all?
Thank you
So can we use USB OTG with X8 or what? Does it work with nAa or ISC kernel? I have no OTG-cable to test with, and I want to be sure that it will be working before buy one.

Why? are there some hardware problems or something? ZTE Blade have the same hardware (CPU & GPU) and support OTG
It wont work, it need new usb kernel libs

It is not that simple. New libs need to be compiled specifically for the X8 as the ZTE blade and the X8 are different devices.

I don't know actually. I never tried bcoz I don't have an OTG cable. Just found the information on net and posted here. May be some one can try who have the cable.
Theoretically our phone (and all msm7x27 based phone) support the usb otg function BUT our hardware not support it. You can enable the otg function in the kernel, and you can try any app from the market, but it will NOT work. The usb socket on our phone NOT give power to the connected device. Maybe it can be work if you give power to the connected device from another power source, but basically this is useless (connect an usb device to x8 AND an external power supply, so forget it)
Hi everyone, as I said in the title I have some questions about the usb host support on galaxy s gt i9000 with cyanogenmod 10 stable.
Everything started with the desire to attach my xbox 360 controller to my phone, unfortunately I realized it was not so easy on my model; so I started digging on the internet trying to find a way to achieve what I was seeking.
Everything that has to do with the usb host support is only a matter of software (kernel) or harware aswell?
Is my i9000 doomed to stay with this support forever?
And the Big question, does cyanogenmod 10 have this support? Is the kernel of this wersion supposed to have this support?
Thanks to everyone who can help me...
Nice. Today i have near the same question. But, i think, i can help you a bit.
The USB-Host-Support is coming with the kernel. One of them with support should be Semaphore.
But i have at least the same question.
I have Fishears Rom installed, but can´t get the app "usb host controller" working, because it is missing the S3C USB Host driver.
Does anyone know, how i can get it working with fishears?
Thanks

mmm...semaphore eh? do I have to change rom? are u talking about kernels only?
IMO this Feature is coming for the sgs with specific kernel. And Semaphore Kernel has this feature in his Feature-List.

Most 4.2 kernel already supported USB otg, but needed external power host on it, don't know bout Xbox but if our on 4.2, juz find some otg controller on stores n try it
If not, need to find some kernel that support but most otg supported kernel starts at cm9 as base.
Semaphore kernel is provide good usb-host compatibility. I using it now. Look at this message http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=41939030&postcount=552
I will try another populary kernels later.

You can do it by using semaphore kernel. But you will need external supply

I'm sorry to be 'that guy' but I can't seem to find instructions for installing Cyanogenmod 9 on the raspberry pi. I know it's been done before.

The current builds of CM9 for the RPi boot but are unusable due to framebuffer issues and other hardware acceleration issues, the CM 7.2 build that is available for the RPi is a little more stable but still essentially barley usable. That being said if you want to try out the CM9 and CM 7.2 build images for the RPi I would take a look at this guide. Here is a video of CM9 running on the RPi:
Thanks for the info, I did see that earlier today but the CM9 mirror appears to be down

So far i couldn't get usb otg to work on custom rom, not even with otg tools from playstore, and i didn't check if it was working on stock. folks, what is your experience with this? otg helper from store said no drivers found.

I don't know about custom roms on the SP, but USB OTG works fine on stock (C5303 here).
I use USB otg helper and stock ROM and stock kernel tho I am rooted and it works fine for me.
If you have custom ROM make sure this is supported or that custom kernel supports it.

i was able to get the usb working on the stock rom, but only with 1gb and 4gb keys. did not have 8gb to test, and 16gb would not work. it draws too much current and gets disabled by the device.
That's strange as I have 16 gig USB stick and it gets read OK
Sent from my C5303 using xda premium
and now that i installed JBXSpRoM 2.0 it would not work gain. be nice if anyone else could post their xperience with this. i would like to know is it just me or it's a general issue. which i doubt.
You can try use usbstorage manager
