[Q] need help asap - Verizon LG G2

I have an lg g2 on Verizon service. I rooted it last week and installed autorec. I just got a Verizon update and when I accepted it my phone goes into recovery mode (team win) screen and I don't know what to do from here. I restored my backup thinking that would allow me to boot up normally but no such luck.

I don't have the LG G2 so I can't give you device-specific instructions, but when you root (and especially if you install a custom recovery) you can't use the updates sent by the carriers, because they only work on stock recoveries on non-rooted devices.
When you say you tried to restore the backup, is this a backup you made in TWRP (aka a nandroid backup)? Because that should probably fix things and let you boot. If not, you'll probably need to flash the LG G2 stock rom, which I imagine would be in the G2 area of xda. Since you can't boot, you'll probably also need to push it onto the phone using adb.
Long story short, it might be best to post this in the G2 forum and see if someone can walk you through how to do it specificially for your device.

I need of help!!!!!

I was taking it upon myself to get the cricKet software working on a Sprint Zio, and made the mistake of trying to flash a custom recovery.
So of course, it turned up a brick (bootloop), and I am in need of a flashable recovery image through fastboot, or possibly a stock upgrade software like that cricKet Froyo pack.
If anyone can help me, or has any other possible solutions, I'd VERY much appreciate it!!
Have you even tried searching for the stock sprint rom that's already been posted in its own thread in this section?

Dont try to use any thing for the Cricket Zio on the Sprint Zio it will end badly every time. Below is the link that will direct you to the rom you need to flash to get your phone functional again.

Yea I knew about that thread, but the link is down (has been for more than a few days now), and someone else was stating it was a no good backup.
Can anyone possibly re-up the link so I can possibly give it a shot?
I have just updated the thread with working system, recovery and boot images for the Sprint 2.2 ZIO
Same post as above.

The OP stated they're having difficulty going back to stock. That said, if they can get back to stock, I would take it back to VZW, too.
I've never had to take a phone back (knock on wood) but they'd be able to see that he rooted and what not. So kind of a general question, would it be best to delete some system file so the phone wouldn't boot at all? That way he could say it won't turn on and they (in theory) can't see the root?

OP would need to TOT back and then return it. If he TOTs it will wipe it completely and reset the "Rooted" check in Recovery. OP... with no EFS backup you have a wifi only tablet now. There is no way to save your phone at all. TOT back to stock and take it in for warranty.
The other option is to send it to LG instead of verizon. Another user awhile back wiped his efs without a backup and he couldn't get to stock, so he sent it to LG and they replaced it. It's a better option than Verizon, unless you can get to stock unrooted.

isnt the VS980 supposed to be unlocked for GSM use ?
I am in India at the moment...i have 3 Verizon G2 phones...SIM cards work fine on 2 of them...On the third one...it does not detect the mobile network...sim is detected ,coz it gives no alert...and when i search for networks...the networks are shown...it just doesnt connect to the network...the sim cards work fine in other phones...in the other G2 phones and in a HTC DROID DNA...so its not the sim at fault....
Have tried multiple SIM cards from Vodafone/Loop Mobile/Airtel...none of them work on this particular phone..
When i search for networks...im getting networks...but cant connect to them...most times it shows error while searching for network...
What can be the problem ?

I actually did this about 6 months ago. Called LG and they told me that if they find any indication that I modified the phone in any way, I would be charged $300. So I screwed the phone up so bad that it wouldn't get past a black screen that said "null". Never got charged

It seems that the number of new threads being created with similar or the same exact content is getting out of hand lately. I have no interest in pure-stock firmware and only posted one after you requested that I do so, so if it's important to you, let me know and I'd be happy to close it to reduce clutter/confusion.

Its up to you but only yours has the full stock flashable rom. I think if people always read the OP's, then there won't be problems. Seems people don't take the time to read OP anymore but just jump in and ask, "How do I flash this". I usually now just ignore those post especially if the info is in the OP. Personally, I think all the threads serve their own purpose and each one is for different things.

Thanks. The G2 was one of those hidden jewels when it first came out. I'd like to upgrade but don't see anything really worthy at an affordable price. Though I almost jumped ship for a CPO G3 for $160 + 8 bucks a month w/tmo.

39A no longer has the internet connection. Make sure in Developer Settings you have USB Debugging checked, and use MTP mode. That will activate Debugging mode.

Make sure you haven't disabled the My Verizon app in order for the Advanced Calling menu to work correctly.
For radio issues, make sure you've downloaded the latest 5.1_images_v3.zip and used the fastboot commands in the main thread. You can run all those commands without reflashing your system.img just to make sure everything's up to date. If you're still having issues, I'm not sure what else you can try other than backing up everything and trying a data wipe.

Hi,
Can someone please explain something to me?
If the BL is locked on xt1254 but mofo somehow gets around it to enable flashing of rooted images.. What is stopping us from flashing a modified cyanogenmod or equivalent over?
Why do we need an unlocked bootloader if we can already flash modified images? Is there some check in place that prevents this? Or is this wip?
I'm obviously missing something!
Thanks guys

Either one should work if you follow the instructions but only the "extra" versions have tethering enabled. At this point, I'd use the image labeled "Extras 5.1 system image (rooted v2 + extras v4)". You can always start with the stock rooted, then dirty flash the extras version with mofo.

Could someone please show me an example on how to flash files on the command prompt with adb. How do I direct it to the file location that I want to flash. Screen shot would be very helpful. Thank you for your time in advance.

Nowhere in the OP for this ROM does it mention flashing files with ADB. You can only flash the system image with the mofo tool. We do not have a custom recovery on the Turbo so you cannot flash ZIP files. We do not have a writable system partition so you cannot push files to it via ADB.
Fastboot is used to upgrade some of the other partitions to the 5.1 versions and is described in the OP.

KDZ for Sprint LS991?

Has anyone found a KDZ file for the Sprint LG G4?
Nope, and I'm in need of one badly...

There will most likely NEVER be a KDZ. If anything it will be a TOT file.
I'm waiting myself. But my phone in a bootloop after using titanium backup. Need this asap

I am holding off on rooting the phone until TOT or KDZ is available. I am not too worried about the rooting process causing problems. It's more a concern that I will not be able to keep myself from messing around with the system files and get into a phone not booting or boot loop situation with no custom recovery, nandroid backup or restore file to recover with.
Damn, I wish I never followed the directions for rooting the G4. Now I know there are no backup files in case of problems.... Great

Nope, and it seems like a lot of people are having boot loops with this phone. We'll just have to wait.
Sprint G4 here (LS991)
I rooted my phone successfully, but being that this is my first LG phone I stupidly uninstalled key apps that brings up the "Security Error" boot loop.
Been looking for a KDZ or TOT file, anything that would help me restore my phone back to stock. Looks like Verizon and TMobile have their stock firmwares out already, but Sprint is always the last to get any significant software.
I have been (and will continue) to follow hyelton's page with the released KDZ files : http://forum.xda-developers.com/g4/general/guide-lg-g4-stock-firmware-to-stock-kdz-t3107848
I will follow up as soon as Sprint's KDZ/TOT file is released.
If there is anything I could do to help the devs get this through, I would gladly help. I just want my G4 back

Welcome to the bootloop ship, its just a waiting game at this point. But as soon as someone has it, it will be posted ASAP!
1. Did you guys not follow the directions when rooting to create a backup of the initial, non-rooted system.img?
2. What about re-flashing the rooted system.img?
Assuming you can reflash either original or rooted system.img, would booting into factory recovery and doing a factory reset work?

No no no. Do not factory reset while rooted. You'll continue to get bootloops. You will just have to wait until the KDZ is released.
Welp, looks like I'm returning my phone.
Wont this solve the problem? http://forum.xda-developers.com/g4/general/guide-lg-g4-stock-firmware-to-stock-kdz-t3107848

Pardon my ignorance, but it looks like there is a .kdz file for the G4. Will that not work? I honestly have no clue how .kdz or .tot files work, but I trying to figure out the difference.
Somehow messed up my phone using google cardboard of all things... well at least that is what I was using when it rebooted and went into a boot loop. I rooted it days ago and the phone has rebooted since I did it with no problems. I have not done anything with root yet on the phone but for some reason cardboard sent it into a boot loop. I tried reflashing the rooted system image but that didn't work. My phone is now pretty much bricked. There is no tot file and it is impossible to transfer a file onto the phone or sd card(can't mount sdcard) to try another system image.
This is a disaster for me as I bought this through best buy. I'm hoping I can get LG to re-flash the phone and give me the same exact phone back. Why? The plan I signed was for a leased phone. I worry that if I use the warranty and get a new imei number phone that I will void my lease and I have to purchase the broken phone out-right. But I guess if I get another phone I would just be where I would be 2 years down the road anyways.
Only problem is I was double stupid and did the wireless charging mod so I now wonder if LG would even look at the phone let alone getting warranty to replace it.... however, the warranty place probably wouldn't even notice the sticker was changed.
So I have no clue what route to take. On top of all this since I am on this stupid Best Buy plan I can't re-activate my old phone. Only Best Buy can do that. Now I am phone-less to boot. I wonder if Best Buy will even activate the old phone for me.... I guess I will find out tomorrow. If not I will have to pay $5 more a month to change my plan to the official Sprint plan.
If this all turns to crap I might just eat the lease cost, warranty the phone, re-sell and get something else. I am done with this phone.
Has any of you contacted @Sj12345 ?
He made this tool for us over at the G Flex 2 forums and people have been able to restore their phones back to booting normally.
There is a catch as allways... he needs a full backup of system.img from your phones and you have to be able to access DOWNLOAD Mode.
Good luck guys.
Here is the forum check it out.

Would the tar.gz file or underlying system.img from here work? When I rooted my phone with that image my camera would get errors where the camera has stopped or the device would freeze up and restart a lot.
I'm guessing we need a fresh nonrooted img or tot file. We just need a fresh img or tot file. Can't wait to revert back to complete stock/make a backup/rerun root

I guess it would be better to use a clean non-rooted system.img
But if someone that is rooted and has no trouble with any app can pull their sys.img that would work for you.
Remember the way this restores is exclusively for GFLEX2 so I always suggest you should contact @Sj12345 for guidance, He´s the man.
I just saw y´all had a similar problem to ATT GFLEX2 users no TOT/KDZ.
shared a link to the ZV5 sys.img to ya hope it helps
