We might???.... actually in my opinion there's no chance this time.
Let's hope in some new updates for 4.3 instead, because it's very very buggy... :crying:

How do you know? Sony has always updated their phones to the latest android version that their respective platform supports. If the MSM8960 is still supported in CAF we will surely see Kitkat sooner or later.
Remember that SP and ZR were not included in that list too. Sony should at least write another "news" with more accurate description what with us. What's our future...
On their site we still have "Testing" phase under KitKat 4.4 and ZU, Z1, Z1c has 4.4 as current version. So they did some changes on their site leaving ours intact, forcing us to wait.
Nevermind, I'll get the Z2 as soon as it appears here Btw 4.4 is still under investigation on the Xperia Support site and the above blog post is mostly about the roll out for newer phones.
We need to wait until at least 4.5 is announced from Google. XperiaT has always been a version behind.
Released with 4.0 despite 4.1 being out.
Updated to 4.1 whilst 4.2 was already out.
Currently rolling out 4.3 as 4.4 has been available from Google for months.

They are just waiting to announce EOL after the 18 months period
Think... Xperia Z in May, if Sony says so it'll be there in June then M2, T2 and so on most probably in July haha and T V SP in August?? No way sorry they will abandon it like the unloved brother Xperia S (╯3╰)
August? Hahaha maybe... And maybe sell my XV

i hope they will fix the bugs on 4.3 first then roll out to 4.4..
not again !!
I'd rather stay on 4.3.
4.4 without root is pretty much useless for me due to external memory usage restrictions (I really doubt the developers of Sygic and other navigation apps will bother to implement the new API in their apps).
I think that too

Agreed, I have 4.4 on my ASUS TF101 but that is a custom ROM so this isn't an issue. 4.4 on a stock ROM makes my phone just as useful as a an iPhone. I hold all my media on a NAS drive and just FTP Music and TV shows over my wifi so no need for a PC to hook up and transfer over. This disappoints me as I now have two choices stay with 4.3 which I am extremely happy with or go down the custom ROM route for my XperiaT which I don't want to as I like and use the Sony customisation this is why I stick with Sony devices. For once I wouldn't be fussed that my device isn't on the latest firmware. Hopefully all the Sony 4.4 apps will be back ported to work on 4.3 ( I haven't looked yet as only just enjoying the 4.3 ones).
While most Android devices are still waiting on the update to*Android 4.4.2 KitKat, Google is apparently testing 4.4.3 already, under the build number KTU72B. This information comes courtesy of renowned developer LlabTooFeR, but there is no further info on what new features the update is likely to bring.
One of the bug fixes gets mentioned, though - LlabTooFeR writes that "probably it will fix known camera bug." Said issue could very well refer to the problem in*Nexus 5*handset. Users observed a pretty significant increase*in CPU usage when the camera application is operational, which puts unwarranted stress on the system, and its battery endurance.*Google quickly promised a fix for the Nexus 5 camera bug, allegedly coming with the next Android update, so that could be it.*
There are no details yet on eventual extra enhancements and fixes that the Android 4.4.3 KitKat update will bring to devices in general. Perhaps we will know as soon as the next few weeks, as we doubt Google will wait for the*I/O conference in June*to release a fix for the camera issue in Nexus 5.

Oh snap, it means I have to revert my phone back to 4.4.2 stock again. So soon after the 4.4.2 update, too. At the very least I hope it's a worthy update.
hopefully there will be HDR+ camera for Nexus 4 like Nexus 5. ART optimization will be wonderful thing (also for me myself).

U83 is march 24th (if I counted correctly)
Like the fingerprint states: 4.4.3 is definitely a thing in testing.
What it doesnt say is when/who will get it.
Fingerprints on chromium are concrete evidence that something does definitely exist, but not that we'll actually get it.
(chromium devs get access to builds that never get released)

Going a bit off topic !! Do you still have access to the .tot files from lg b2b servers since they updated their security ?? I think no one has updated the .tot files for mako or hammerhead after initial 4.4 ( I guess no .tot leaked for 4.4 mako at all )
I do not have files, only filenames.
I can tell you that mako has simply not received any new ones since 4.3 and I would not be surprised if it doesn't receive any more.
The thread is currently up to date with the known public ones for hammerhead, excepting that we do not have every variation of the latest one (KOT49H) (16/32gb D820/821)

I read somewhere that starting with Android L Google is taking control over the system updates using the play store. I don't remember exactly where I read this but I would like to confirm this information with you guys.
Is that right? Does it mean that after android 5 the fragmentation will end? Or I just misunderstood the info?
I wonder if this being implemented maybe the core of the system would be on a separate partition and the OEM mods on another... Maybe?
Thank you.
Maybe for pure androud, but not for oem skins. Touchwiz, HTC Sense, etc.

So, in the end I understood wrong cause I thought that this would apply for every oem. ?
Sad, just sad. I'm interested on note 4 but Sammy doesn't give love to updates.
Agree they only update it once,
I suspect that the Note 4 will get the bump to Android L since the release is relatively soon. Hopefully they are working in conjunction with the carriers so that they don't have to wait until Sammy completes their image before beginning their testing. THAT's what takes so long!
Beyond the base of Samsung L, who knows?

Hope you're right.
I would expect update to Android L in the end of January for Note 4 - judging by how Note 10.1 was updated in the past.
I agree since the Note 3 is still sitting on 4.4.2. They need to keep up and allow the phone to stay fresh.
If you want upgrades, buy a Nexus or a Moto X.
Don't buy a Samsung/HTC and them complain about upgrades. You know what you are buying, Note is not a device which is meant for fast upgrades. It's should be quiet obvious to anyone.
If upgrades are your primary concern, get a Nexus.
Rumor has it the Note 4 and S5 will get Android L "late November or in early December" and that "Samsung may be working towards having updates ready sooner than usual."

not gonna happen , and note 4 probs will get Android L within 3 months after official release

For those looking for a good camera and stock experience, do you think I'll be in good hands with a Xperia Z3. AFAIK sony is usually developer friendly and maybe we get a official CM release. Well, just speaking my mind... I dont know how stable Z2 is ATM.

actually i don't really know , sony has really some good sensors but they always ruin it with ****ty software , and yeah sony is dev friendly
but i guess Note 4 will have better image quality specially in low light and with video quality because it got OIS z3 doesn't
and Z3 has the same optics and sensor as Z2 as fas as i know so probs it will have the same image quality

Well i bought a z2 and sold it after 2 weeks of use. my note 2 takes better pictures than z2 in day light. Sony fools people with the 20 something megapixel camera. It actually takes 8 mp photos. 20 mp is just a marketing strategy. Dont be fooled.

Hey guys,I installed the L camera with new api on my moto g 2014 with lollipop and when I run the application, it says it's not compatible with my phone, does anyone have any solution?
50% is done, since google has exposed all the camera pipeline. The next 50% relays on Motorola to update the camera API with the new V2. You gotta wait till next update and pray for moto to care about this feature. X is very likely to have it very soon, but i can't say about G.
Motorola didn't implemented camera api2 in lollipop ?
Even customer care doesnt knows about it

Contacted the motorola customer care he seems to be not aware of this and suggested me to mail to motorola regrading this issue. Bit disappointed since expected a nexus like build. Wanted to try manual camera now we should wait for motorola to provide in their final update (hope) OR WAIT FOR cm12 with support for camera api 2.0
With lollipop clearly just around the corner for our devices, we need to decide if the update is worth it.
I'm normally keen to grab the latest, but running rooted Kit Kat gives me lots of flexibility and support. Going to Lollipop will mean a lot of incompatible mods (at the very least for several months) with no significant advantage I can see. As a photographer, raw capture is of interest, but I'm not convinced it will live up to expectations.
Where's everyone else at?
I'm with ya. Lollipop has been buggy on many devices. My nexus 7 was really laggy on lollipop.
I made sure I rooted before the ota update happened. I'll stay on KitKat until all the bugs have been worked out. KitKat still works great on this phone. There's no reason for me to update until lollipop is proven to be stable.

I've been running cm12 for the last week or so and I'm loving it, really stable and looks so pretty. The camera quality has gone down but I'm still taking amazing shots. Regarding mods xposed has already been ported to lollipop and is apparently working rather well. Raw camera shots will probably not happen sorry, no phones except the nexuses (5 onwards) have implemented the APIs and chances are Sony wont. Everything else is great, battery almost as good and no crashes at all. If you're comfortable with flashing ROMs try cm12 with a stock backup . Also this should have been posted in Q & A not general.

Nexus 4 doesn't handle RAWs.
Interesting. Does CM12 require unlocked bootloader?
Sent from my D5803 using XDA Free mobile app
i don't see any big reason why i have to update asap. i'm 100% satisfied with 4.4.4. it's a very stable platform which is improved all the way from 4.0.
i guess i will jump to Lollipop later maybe after it's been released for 6 months or so.

Yup! Just make sure you backup your DRM keys and you can always revert back to locked bootloader with DRM fuctions in place. This is assuming you have a Bootloader Unlockable=yes Phone.
