problem with recovery
Hi,
I've used WinDroid, just for root my Desire 500 (one sim, 1.03 HBOOT, UNROOTED), and i still don't get rooted.
Recovery doesn't work properly, because I can't mount system and devlog.
Code:
E:Unable to mount '/system'
E:Unable to mount '/devlog'
In recovery, I can't install nothing.
Fortunately Android, work normally.
How to fix it?
//sorry if I do mistake. I'm not native english, I live in Poland

nice
Hi,
Is that version 2.8.3.0 is planned ?
Thanks
There's a version 2.8.3.0 on the Team Win website for S3 Mini, is there a reason to use this one over that?

Sure
What's new in 2.8.3.0:
MTP fixes and improvements - you can now copy zips to the root of storage - thanks to _that
MTP will now tell the host PC that storage is removed instead of disabling MTP completely
MTP will now report the correct max file size based on the file system in use to the host PC (may fix transfer of large files)
Update and improve fix permissions and make fixing contexts optional
Update SuperSU in TWRP to 2.40 and update install process
Make TWRP work properly on AArch64 (Nexus 9 is now built in true 64-bit binaries and libraries)
Attempt to set correct permissions and contexts on all files placed in storage so backups will show in Android
Fix kernel panic during MTP start on some devices
Support unicode fonts on devices with True Type Font support
Fix slider value not showing sometimes (vibration settings page)
Toggle MTP off during adb sideload to set correct USB IDs
Reduce library requirements for 5.0 L decrypt
Other minor fixes and improvements
What's new in 2.8.2.0:
MTP fixes and improvements - you can now copy zips to the root of storage - thanks to _that
Pull in all changes from Android 5.0 lollipop into TWRP
Add decrypt support for Android 5.0 lollipop encrypted partitions including automatic decrypt when the default_password is in use
Revert some changes to exFAT that were breaking exFAT support on some devices
Other minor fixes and updates
Note: At this time we do not have a GUI representation for pattern unlock. You can still decrypt patterns though by translating the pattern dots to numbers. The pattern dots correspond to numbers in the following pattern:
1 2 3
4 5 6
7 8 9
So an upper-case L would translate to a password of 14789 entered on the keyboard. Eventually we plan to add a proper pattern unlock to TWRP but it is a relatively low priority at this point.

Stuck after flashing recovery
Guys, I am hoping for a little help here. I followed the instructions as detailed, flashed TWRP in Odin, all seemed ok. But whenever I try to boot into recovery, the phone just hangs at "Recovery booting..." (the blue text with the Samsung Galaxy SIII Mini splash screen.) It still boots into the rom ok (still stock, but with super user). I'm stumped. Any ideas?
The phone is a SM-G730W8 (Golden). Thanks so much!
this recovery is only for gt-i1890/l/n
try to flash the last stock rom for your phone and hope that the phone isn't bricked

Sent from here to there
Hello.
I registered here just to post a problem where i could not find a solution. With android-andi's recovery (2.8.7.0) it boots in recovery but shows only a black screen. It seems to work because of phone vibrates when touching to screen.
Recovery might boot as visible if you try to boot recovery enough many times. Another funny thing is if you boot it as black screen, put it charger and force boot with power button then it boots straight to recovery and it is visible.
I tried also older andi's recoveries and they booted also as black screen but charger trick not worked with enough old recovery. I havent had any issues with maclaws recoveries and those are worked fine and thats why I am using maclaws recovery atm (the newest version from maclaws site).
Seems to that i can't report this in developers thread because of I am new in xda forums.
One thing, how i can send/attach files in forum? I have recovery log but not managed to send it...
Sorry my english and try to understand .
Anyone else have black screen issues with andis's recoveries? And what is system here to upload logs as txt files here forum becouse can't find option ti upload nothing else than pictures.
NTFS and USB Mass Storage support
Why TWRP didn't recognize NTFS?
In TWRP it shows that the Micro SD is non existent (0MB).
I use this file system because is very fast and stable.
Also,it will be awesome if you add Mass Storage support (it's much more fast than MTP).

Here is the image file with Xposed alpha 4 baked in: XT1096_5.0-tether-root-bb-sqlite3-Xposed.img.rar This is based on the image posted by @btdownloads7. It includes root, tether, BusyBox and SQLite3 while adding Xposed and the 5.1 demo boot animation.
You also need to install the alpha Xposed apk from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=3200857&d=1425849071 Download the apk to your phone, find it with your phone file manager and click on it to install. Do not try to install the framework from within the Xposed installer.
While in your file manager, navigate to /data/dalvik-cache and delete both the "arm" and "profiles" folders. (This is needed one time due to a glitch in the alpha Xposed for Lollipop.) You must do this!
Connect your phone to your pc and issue the "adb reboot-bootloader" command to get into fastboot mode.
Flash the image file with mofo as normal.
After mofo completes its work, enter "fastboot erase cache" to flush the system cache. (You can also do this in the recovery menu on the phone if you prefer.
Once done, reboot the phone. The boot animation will end and seem to freeze for a minute or two, then it will say that it's upgrading/optimizing hundreds of apps but it won't take as long as would be expected for that number of apps. (This is also due to the glitch in Xposed Alpha 4.) Once your phone is booted up, open the Xposed installer from the app drawer, install a module (like Gravity Box for LP) and profit!
Note: If you get system memory full errors, you didn't erase the folders in /data/dalvik-cache as noted above.

No, you can just flash it with mofo like normal. Those other steps were just for the first time or going from a non-Xposed image. I've update the original post and thanks for reminding me to include this info!

does dis rom has call.bug?
Only one doubt. Why this method of flashing the boot.img separately from de rom? Its the first rom that i have to do this. Is there a problem during the flash of the rom?
By the way, great work. Is the first rom that runs perfect in my phone.
For now, and by far, the best rom for this phone ever. Clean, fast, with only a little Mod.
The only problem (is not a problem to me, and of course i have a smartwatch connected to the phone, which is probably most of that problem) is that it has a little big battery consumption.
I tried all your builds, but the best for me was the first from 07/02.
Thanks for this build. Now i´m sure that i´m not comming back to MIUI

Rashr was not working for me. I got it to work with this command on the terminal (with root):
Code:
su
dd if=/ext_card/twrp-2.8.7.0_huashan.img of=/dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/FOTAKernel
Notice that you'd have to save the .img file on the proper directory prior to using the command.
You can find more details of my struggle here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/xpe...rnel-tangerine-kernel-v1-t3073297/page28#1379

I have the same problem and did not do very well could give more details of which app you used and what is the directory Thx
I tried Rashr from the Play Store. Your phone has to be rooted to use it.
When Rashr failed, I downloaded the .img file to my computer and transfer it by USB to the root of the internal memory and then used the procedure you quoted above.
Newest Rashr doesn't work.
Version 2.2.8 worked flawlessly
Hi,
I've been trying both rashr and command line, the first one flashed with no errors (but it tok less than a second) and rebooting TWRP wasn't installed; the second, all the commands executed corretly, I got an online confirmation, but still unable to boot in recovery mode.... any idea?
I'm having trouble with TWRP F2FS, since, when i try to access the SD card, the recovery simply restarts, and i can not access the SD to install a ZIP for example ...
After the update f2fs in change file system gone.
can i use rashr app to intall the zip file? btw, no recovery installed yet. UBL and on Stock ROM.
Hope someone will reply. thanks in advance.

Yes, you can use Rashr to install the recovery BUT extract the img file from within first. Then use the img file for rashr to flash.

Bootloop after re-installing SuperSu / Missing Wi-Fi and SD-card connectivity after root

Hello everyone,
I recently bought a Predator 8 Tablet (GT-810) with Android 5.1 and proceeded to root it.
I only found 2 threads here, and both were VERY confusing and partly contradicted each other.
One suggested flashing 3 parts of an .img file which had previoulsy been extracted. Neither did I have the knowledge to do that nor I did not succeed finding a way to achieve that on the internet.
Predator 8 Booted to TWRP | Acer GT-810 | TWRP | Help us Root
So I managed to Unlock my GT-810 Bootloader through Settings | About | Tapping BUILD # morethan 7x | Enabled ADB/USB Debugging | OEM Unlock | Rebooting via POWER Button + "Vol UP" | fastboot oem unluck Automatically followed by a full Factory...
forum.xda-developers.com
I then decided to go with the less adventurous option from the second thread:
Acer Predator 8 TWRP 3.0.2
TWRP 3.0.2 for Acer Predator 8 ported by Ruben. - If you like my work please donate here, it will also give me a boost to make more things for this device :) : https://www.paypal.me/RubenCraveiro -----------...
forum.xda-developers.com
I succeeded in unlocking the bootloader.
After that, one person from the threads 5 years ago released some old files on Google Drive, among them an unsecuredbootimage.img, the TWRP.img and the SuperSu 2.46, which was supposed to work.
I flashed the unsecuredbootimage.img, then the TWRP.img, the SuperSU and when the root came up with RootChecker and I thought I was in heaven.
Unfortunately, I had no more access to either Wi-Fi, nor the SD-card. Wi-Fi would occasionally be greyed out, then turn on, but not find any network. The SD-card was not recgognized anymore.
I found a workaround which suggested I reflash only the "modem" file from within the boot.img, but I could not extract it.
How to Fix No WiFi, Calls, Network after Root or Custom ROM
In this tutorial, we will show you the steps to fix the no WiFi, Calls, or Network issues after root or flashing custom ROM on Android.

I then proceeded to install Magisk. The Manager had already been installed, I transferred the latest version (23.0) as a zip file to the device and flashed it via TWRP.
When I tried to "patch a file" through Magisk / install, the "Let's go" option was always greyed out, so I was stuck there again.
When I checked the SuperSU, to my surprise, I could not find it any more within Android, it looked like it had disappeared, so I decided to reinstall it.
I went to recovery (TWRP) and flashed SuperSU 2.46 and since then I am in bootloop.
I need some help in exiting the bootloop and a solution for the missing Wi-Fi and SD-card connectivity.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

The additional files I have:
STOCK boot.img (30 MB)
STOCK factory.img (10 MB)
TWRP 2.8.7.0 for the device (18 MB)
unsecuredboot.img for the device (9 MB)
Thanks in advance...
