[Q] Wifi reconnect during sleep fails - Nexus 6 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

My phone (nexus 6, stock image lrx22c) screen is off. I move to another place for which I have saved wifi. The phone does not reconnect to the new wifi while it is in sleep. This causes me to miss voip calls and hangout messages. As soon as I turn on the screen using the power button it reconnects to the new wifi.
Has anybody else seen similar behavior.

[Q] HD7 bluetooth turns off

Hey, i have a Bluetooth problem. When i turn Bluetooth on after 30sec it turns off.
Can someone help me?
First *push*
It sounds like you have a problem with your phone. Bluetooth stays on permanently, and there is no configuration option apart from on or off. Dies it say it is off?
Unless you mean discoverable? I have got a feliing it only remains discoverable whilst you are in the settings screen?
I have the same issue since a few weeks although not that fast.
Bluetooth switches off automatically on my HD7 after a few minutes.
When connecting it to my carkit, it can make a first call without problems, but when finished the call it will switch off bluetooth after a few minutes.
I even now reverted back to 7.0.7389.0 by using one of Ansar's ROMs, but I have again the same issue.:mad
Any one else has similar issues on the HD7? Anyone knows how to fix it?
Could it be something physically broken?
Meanwhile I installed all updates again with Zune, but still the issue exists.
I also have an issue with the WiFi when the issue with BT occurs.
If I try to switch on/off WiFi, the phone hangs for a while, after that he doesn't go to sleep mode no more and it's impossible to switch it off with the Power button.
Only solution at the moment is to take out the battery.
Had it several times now already.
I mailed HTC, and they told me to send in the phone, but I'll need to miss it for 2-3 weeks then

Weird problem with the WIFI connection

I keep losing the WIFI connection after I stop using the phone. If I close the screen of the phone and I came back after a couple of minutes, I see I am not connected anymore to the network.
Sometimes, the phones reconnects after a couple of seconds and sometimes not even after 10 minutes; it's only saying "connecting".
This an odd behaviour, because the previous phones that I've had didn't display this behaviour, of disconecting when I closed the screen.
It's even odder because I flashed a couple of ROMs and the problem doesn't go away.
Any solutions?
P.S. I hope you undertand what've said.
The WiFi automatically turns off when the screen turns off.
Just go the WiFi settings, press the menu button and go in "advanced".
Then change "Wifi Sleep Policy".
But I don't know why it stays on "Connecting". This only happens to me when the signal is bad or the network makes you use a proxy like with WiFi hotspots.

Hahahaha
I didn't have this problem at the previous phones becaue that option was always to not turn off the wifi when phone goes to sleep.
Thank you Chris.

[Q] Wifi issues on jcsullins cm-10-20130418

Hi All,
I have wiped all data and flashed cm-10-20130418 and I am noticing sporadic wifi issues. Occasionally, the wifi will be connected, then lose connection and no hotspots are found when I hit scan. Sometimes, I can simply toggle wifi and it connects. Other times, it locks when attempting to toggle off. Usually a reboot solves the issue. Anyone else experiencing this? Also semi-related, occasionally the touchpad will not wake from sleep and a force boot while holding all buttons for 20 seconds is needed to reboot.

I've noticed a pretty severe problem with wifi when connecting to an Apple Airport Extreme base station on the 5GHz band. Loading web pages is very slow and often requires reloading for the page to completely load. Pinging the touchpad from another computer shows the touchpad is dropping a large percentage of the pings. When I reconnect to the AP on the 2.4GHz band all is good. Other computers and android devices are working fine with the same AP on 5GHz.

Try unplugging the router for about 30 seconds. This works for me, but might not for you. It's worth a try.
Good luck.

[Q] Wifi/3G not connected whilst phone is in 'sleep'

Okay. I noticed today that when pressed the power button to wake my phone from sleep the wifi or 3g (depending on where i was and what I was connected to, ie home or away) icon was not showing and thus indicating that it wasn't connected. Hmm, I thought it was odd, maybe it was a display error. But I then noticed that my emails and gmails all came through a few seconds after I unlocked the phone (and the connection icon appeared) and that they had all been sent whilst the phone was asleep. So, it seems to me that the phone is disconnecting from any data source when it goes into sleep mode. Now, I am right in thinking that the whole point of push notifications or setting your email to sync every 5 minutes is that the phone will remain connected even whilst asleep, and then wake up (briefly even) when it picks up an email?
I had no power saver on, no smart sync, wifi set to never sleep. Is this normal? It's pretty important that I get my emails as and when they sent to me. Any advice would be great. I am wondering if it's a bug, and whether I need to take to the phone back to exchange for another one?
Info: not rooted, stock rom software no. 1.28.61.7, kernal 3.4.10-gddcfb8c [email protected] #1 SMP PREEMPT, carrier EE (UK).
Cheers
you're sure power saver in the top menu wasn't on? because that's what it does, turns off wifi and data when the screen is off for an expended period.
maybe cycle it on and off a couple of times and see if the problem persists...

No, isn't normal.
So, can you upgrade to the latest firmware and, maybe, do a full wipe?
Did you install some app for battery?
And check that your power saver isn't on...
Check under power, setting that sleep mode is off. That on by default on mine. It turns data off after extended screen of time and doesn't require the power save to be activated.

Hmm, no additional battery apps, power saving toggled and definitely off (I purposefully turned it off because of it's data management policy), and sleep mode set to off.
So, I'm right in thinking that you/others actually get notifications then? and wifi/3g is working fine? Looks like it's a return and hope that the next one works (I only got the phone 7days ago). My software update says no updates available, though this is likely to be EE fault. If I can get the shop to exchange I might just do that. Ho hum, another 3 hours setting the thing up again then...
It seems to be a Wifi switching itself off problem...

So, a quick update in case anyone else is having this problem.
I reset the phone to see if it would make a difference and it kind of has. Now I have noticed that if I am using mobile data it's fine. Things are pushed, notifications come through. But if I use Wifi it's a different matter.
it seems that with Wifi on and connected then it works for around 15 minutes when the phone is sleeping (I have done a few tests). After this it seems to shut wifi down and hence no notifications. So it would seem to me that although Power Saving is set to OFF, and Sleep mode (ie no data in sleep) is set to OFF, the phone is still disconnecting from WIfi regardless of the settings. Which is a bit frustrating as I don't want to be connected to the mobile network all the time, especially at home, but still want to know if I receive emails.
Anyone else experienced this Wifi switching itself off issue (and then switching itself on as soon as you manually wake the phone?)? I have to decide whether to return the phone for a replacement or not. If this is a wide ranging issue it might not be worth it - though I'd have thought a simply thing, like keeping wifi on at all times wouldn't be hard to make sure it worked.
there are a few apps available on the play store such as "keep wifi alive" which might do the trick.

Okay, now I feel a bit of Doughnut! I think I've found out what was causing this. So, even though I had Power Saver OFF, Smartsync OFF, Sleep Mode (disconnect data whilst sleep) OFF, I hadn't had a proper look in the Wifi settings, and under Advanced I found:
Advanced>Keep Wifi on during Sleep. This hadn't been set to Always and was set to 'Only when plugged in'. So, changed to 'Always' and now it seems to work (and that would explain why I got emails through the night when charging).
So, apart from feeling a little red-faced for not exploring every single menu available, I am happy it (seems) sorted. If anyone has wifi dropping whilst phone is sleeping it seems there are four steps:
SmartSync = OFF [in Mail app]
Power Saver = OFF [in status bar and Power Settings]
Sleep Mode = OFF [in Power Settings]
Keep Wifi on during Sleep = Always [in Wifi>Advanced Settings]
Hopefully this'll help anyone else who has been having a bit of prolonged blond moment with the phone settings. {retreats to corner}

I have similar problem. Even when I have everything OFF as you suggest, I get disconnected a second after screen goes off. When I turn phone back on, I can see that wifi is on, but all aps are off and wont connect again. I have to turn wifi off and on and applications like skype go again online. I have this problem at home and also at work on corporate network. I have even tried apps that should keep wifi on, but with no change.
Interesting is that after the phone goes to sleep mode, I can see that speed of wifi is changing on phone. The phone actualy stays connected to wifi, but doesn't send or receive data.
The router at home is TP-Link 1043ND with DD-WRT (flashed to last firmware to see if it fixes this problem). I'm not sure what brand and type are corporate APs, but could be some cisco or similar.
Any advice what else I could try?
