How do you hold your nexus? - Nexus 6 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Random question guys but i was wondering how you guys hold your nexus in daily usage?
Im used to big phones but seem to be getting finger aches and that from resting it on the pinky when trying to swipe type etc.
Its a real shame it doesnt have a one handed mode

im not a big guy, 5'7", and hold it in my left hand usually, without issue.

I'm pretty short too. I'm 5'8". I hold it iny left hand and my last 3 phones, I've rested the bottom edge on my little finger

i turned 43 on sunday

hold it with my right hand and only ever need the one had got hands like shovels lol

I hold it in my left hand with the point of the phone right into my hand between my pinky and ring fingers. If I dont need to access the whole screen I will slide it down to the bottom mid of the phone rests on my pinky knuckle. I can pretty much access the whole device this way.
I have held all my phones the same way, the Note 3 was the worst though since my pinky covered the speaker -_-

I usually use my left hand but since I've gotten the N6, I've used my right hand. I just use my thumb to navigate through the screen with my other fingers loosely on the back.
Anybody use the dimple to hold their phone? Would love to read more on that.

na. its too high up to in any way balance the phone. i usually hold it much lower then there.

Flygrip

Very carefully

I'm left handed and I hold it in my left, sort of resting on my 4 fingers so that my thumb is free to reach anywhere on the screen. Sometimes you just have to use it with 2 hands but most of the time I can manage.

I hold it with either hand and use my pinky as a bottom support when I need to. This phone is remarkably easy to handle one handed compared to a boxy phone.

I also use a FlyGrip. There's really no other viable alternative. Saves on all of the digital (finger) gymnastics and makes for a more secure grip.

This comes to mind-

How Rain Proof Is The Nexus One?

I'm wondering if I could fit a Brodit holder to my motorbike and mount my N1 on it?
Any thoughts?
If it rained, would my N1 be in danger? It would be real easy for me to pull over, remove it and put it in my pocket. What danger would there be to the Brodit holder, would I need a little cap to go over the 'socket'?
You should be good as long as you tuck it up under the windscreen, maybe right above the gauges. Shouldn't get wet at all right there while riding and very very little while sitting still for those brief moments. What kind of motorbike? i was thinking Sportsbike but on a tourer it should still be ok. Let me know what you come up with because i was looking to do something of the same.
Yeah, I have a tourer, Honda Varadero. I'm not sure there would be space under the screen... Hmm. Maybe I'll get a pic of the dash area tomorrow and we can brain storm.
Brodit do these -

}
But they're £37!
Then you attach this to it -
But that's another £35!
That would have to be pretty near the handle bars, which wouldn't be very well covered by the screen when stationary.
I have heard of people doing this though and just putting a sandwich bag over it if rain starts...
A few drops of rain won't harm it, just make sure you put it away if it starts pouring I've used my nexus in the rain before and haven't had any problems
Nice piece, for sure get a shot of the dash area and lets see what we can come up with. I'll start messing with it on my 750 to see if i can come up with something here. I would definaltly want it behind the screen some kind of way. I wouldn't want a bug or rock smacking it at 100k or more ya know.
Right, here's the picture. On the right is the 'glove box' that I'm hoping to get a cig lighter wired into, so even if I don't get it mounted, I can charge my N1 from it.
The mount on the middle left is for my Zumo SatNav, but of course, if I get a decent option for my N1, I can do away with that.
I guess, in theory, there's some decent real estate just to the left of the speedo (the left dial) but it curves away, so I would need a clever way to mount it facing back inwards slightly.
Given that I don't mind paying £30+ for a Brodit holder, which I assume could be wired neatly, direct to the battery, that will screw onto pretty much any flat surface that will hold a screw...
Ideas?
**EDIT** Here's a thought. The Brodit holder is mounted on a ball joint pivot thingy... which means I could attach it direct to the facia and just twist it back in? How firm is that plastic do you think though, maybe a rivet gun would be best instead of screws?

Slight Crack in Phone. Fix It or No?

So I've done a little research on pricing, found out to have my screen replaced by HTC it's $115. I asked about having an indy shop do it instead but they informed that doing so would void the warranty. How would they know? Apparently the screws in the back have paint on them and they know if the phone has been tampered with.
Anyways, the crack in my screen is about an inch long. It starts on the left right where the bottom of the taskbar is. It then runs up to right under the earphone speaker. The phone works just fine and you can barley see the crack.
My question, is it dangerous to the phone to not have it repaired? The crack can't "run" any more, so I can't quite make up my mind. Let me know what you all think.
Thanks.

Anyway is this supposed to be in the right forum? Still I'd say fix it. I personally can't stand my screen to have a scratch.
If it's a scratch, meh
If it's an actual crack, 100% DEFINITELY replace it. Your entire screen's strength has been compromised. Who knows when the next pressure put on it in the wrong place or accidental drop could cause the whole screen to crack since it is weaker now.
I would go for the replacement.
Replacement screens/glass on ebay yet?
Don't get it fixed unless it becomes unusable or unless it bothers you. If it doesn't bother you then why spend $115 to fix it. Fix it when it actual causes problems using it and by the time that happens the price to fix it might drop.

If the crack runs from one side to another, then your glass is already in two pieces. The touch digitizer is the only thing holding it together. The worst that can happen is you push in the screen and the glass cuts through the digitizer and scratches the OLED underneath. That being said, I've seen a number of people use iPhones with cracked screens for months without any trouble and I've never seen the digitizer give way.
I agree with KingLouis3: Use it 'til it annoys you or breaks.
Thanks for the responses. Pokey, I think my concerns were along the lines of what you said with the OLEDs. It is somewhat difficult to explain where the location sorry some of you are grammar professors apparently.
Either way, I do I'll end up just holding up to get it worked on for the time being. I'll see how long it goes until any issues arise. Here's a picture by the way, see if you can see what I'm talking about here.

new case?

Has anyone used this case and holster combo?
edit: i cant post links.., im new i guess.search ebay for "new shell belt clip case for sprint samsung nexus s 4g"
i have an active x case/holster combo but i hate the case. it's to slipery, buttons are to easy to press on the sides etc. its also tough to load and unload the phone one handed. im looking at this case combo in the above link but i'd really like to hear from anyone who's used it and what you think??also the 3g and 4 g frames are nearly identical, correct?
That actually looks pretty legit, to be honest
I have a watch strap buddy that is making a prototype for me that will be sort of like this one.

I got mine from the Sprint website when I ordered my phone. Its good, doesn't add too much bulk and I've loaded/unloaded multiple times with ease using one hand. It doesn't have a soft touch rubbery back but I've never had a problem holding but as for drop protection Its not very good. I've dropped it 2 or three times from about 3 feet up and it came off each time, scratching up my phone in the process. And it cut outs for the buttons so that's not a problem

Thanks for the help guys!! i actually came up with a very simple solution to fix my active x case.my main issue is that the buttons are way to easy to press in on the sides, so gripping it tightly constantly turns it on/off and messes with the volume. or anytime i loaded/unloaded it from holster
on the inside of the silicone layer where buttons are, are fairly thick strips which sit tightly against the phone buttons causing the problem.i used a razor to slice these tabs off and the difference is drastic. now i love the active x case.., sure it's not as grippy as the case mate, but its a damn tough case with a rock solid holster!

To those who use flip cover

I just got a note 2 and now toying around with ideas on how to protect it a bit.
Screen protector im still debating on.
The flip cover is one of the things I picked up but there are two things that bother me with it that might be the ultimate deal breaker so i figured ill ask here.
1. What's your technique on snapping pictures since obviously you can't just fold it back, seems like taking a pic with one hand is risky anyway due to the size of the phone.
2. Does the cover flatten out over time when flipped to the back? What I mean is if you just put it on and flip it back, it's raised a bit on the back left side
I'm using voice command to snap. Just say smile or cheese and it will snap.
I actually find flip covers to be just as comfortable as non-flip cover cases, if not better.

Here, I have my thumb pushing aginst my index finger behind the cover. I'm also leveraging my thumb againt the side of the hard inner case and this feels very secure to me. Of course, this requires the second hand to push the shutter button meaning this is a two handed operation, but I think it's for the better.
As for the flatness of the flip cover, I'm assuming you mean something like this?
As you can see, the cover part can be pretty flat without much trouble, at least for the Spigen Hardbook case. I do have another flip case (Nilkin) but that one does not.
Makes sense. Your case is a bit different though than the oem samsung

I bought two of these a few hours ago. After an hour or two its already sitting flat on the back and completely shutting (when I firsy put it on it wouldnt sit closed) as far as pictures go I can very easily take them with only my right hand although I csn hold it in my left with the case on.

My Orzly OnePlus 3 £25 Goodie Bag

Hi guys,
I have my shiny new phone at last! Feels like such a big upgrade from my old OnePlus One (well maybe bar the screen)
So here is what £24.45 brought me from Amazon (the price of an official OnePlus cover)
I have posted a few things about the FlexiCase already but you can ask me about anything...
My first impressions are that it is all presented very well giving it a premium feel for such a great price. I feel everything you get is a really awesome deal and just wanted to let you guys know.
Here is a pic of my package:

Orzly Ring stand
Orzly 5 in 1 screen protector pack
Orzly Multifunctional Wallet case
I have my final exam on Monday so bear with me. I will update as much as I can as soon as I can, but please feel free to ask me any questions
Hope you are all enjoying or are as excited about your OP3 as I am...
I have got a case from OnePlus and Cruzerlite on its way so hopefully I can give feedback on those too.
Having put on the screen protectors, I would definitely recommend them over OP as a short term solution. Fits more of the screen!
Here are some great uses of the the ring! Use it to hold the OP3 if you have smaller hands, using it as a stand on tables and even wall mounting...
How do these ring stands secure to the phone again?

OK I have been looking at these. Too cheap to spend the 8 bux to just check it out, but, does the ring get in the way a lot when you don't want to use it. In other words, does it fold down nicely and stay or keep flapping around. I am thinking this may be a good thing for me to use because I use my phone with another BT device at the same time (getting into lockboxes) and have dropped phones more than once fumbling around.
