I've followed a root guide (not able to link due to account restrictions), however I am not sure whether I have rooted correctly (Superuser has been installed via the root). I'm a beginner in rooting and thought it would be straight forward (due to the number of tutorials around), but I don't know how to proceed now.
My basic objective is to install jelly bean with no issues in usage as the owner isn't very tech literate. The tutorials I have tried to follow thus far have had some steps which aren't possible in my circumstance or certain steps which aren't possible due to a change in the app.
If possible I will appreciate it if someone helps me, whether here, or on skype/teamspeak; preferably on the latters as it will speed up the process and I am quite time restricted. If possible I don't mind completely resetting the kindle to its original software and such and starting again just to be sure If I have rooted, but I don't know how to do that.
Thanks in advance

Thats to Root; I've already rooted (assuming from the video when it says you can see the superuser app)
Well if you have rooted right go to your browser and search for an app called Root Checker. It does not require root. It checks to see if your rooted right. If you are not rooted right the app will say so but if you are rooted right you get a message saying "You have successfully rooted your device." Hope I helped you.

Titanium says I have rooted. Ok, what do I do now as per my requirements above?
Thanks
Ok, I've now installed the play store and disabled ads using this VERY useful tutorial (thanks prok!). Is there a similar tutorial on how to install jelly bean on it now?
Well the best rom out there right now is Unofficial CM10.1 from Hashcode. Yes, you could install a different one but Unofficial CM10.1 is currently the best in my opinion.
Wondering if anyone has tried towelroot on 4.3 for locked bootloaders, it says on the site that theoretically it should support any device build built before June 3rd.
I understand we have a locked bootloader but so does the Verizon and AT&T S5

Worked for me
I used it and it seems to work fine. Very easy, go the towelroot.com site, click on the symbol and download the app.I enabled installing from non-secure sources in settings/security. I installed the .apk and it ran, rebooted automically and I now have root. I am running Stock 9.2.A.0.295 now rooted without all the downgrading etc. Sweet! You must have read the same article on Androidpolice that I read.

Works on my AT&T Xperia TL, Android 4.1.2; Build 9.1.F.1.120.
SuperSU + Linux Deploy up & running.

1. With the help of a file manger install TowelRoot
2. Install modified FlashgordonBB , and then with it PhilZ Recovery . Don't use the "normal" Flashgordon.
3. Flash Update Supesu in Recovery.
4.Reboot and install Supersu.
Set.

All right and I am grateful, too, certainly. That man deserves a beer or two, and some pretty girls, too.
But 150 pages of thanks - as great as it is - I think I'll just stick here.

I don't think its good idea becouse some ppls can't root with it sucessfuly.
So SuperSu is advising an Update
So apparently, SuperSu is now offering an update - I was wondering what version, so I launched SuperSu and it updated after I allowed it, choosing "Normal" instead of TWRP/CWM - because I don't have a recovery installed. It worked fine and it suggested a reboot - which after that I had version 2.0. Works great.

My device is Asus MemoPad 7 K017 running Kit-Kat 4.4.2, Kernel version 3.10.20, Build Number KVT49L.WW_MeMO_Pad-11.2.3.27-20141218 release-keys 044000281_2014060030.
I did have success with kingo, if you are having trouble, make sure tab is in de-bug mode and you check the pop-up asking to allow kingo to talk to device, it will come up on tab side. And if kingo still not working, try this apk. RootZenPhone. Before you root using this app, you must, i repeat, must, turn off wi-fi, and forget the network you are connected to. If you dont, you get stuck in this Asus Demo mode, no lock screen, and it keeps downloading a phantom update. My daughter also told me facebook would auto delete, and force close. if you have any more questions fire away

Installing [NCE}{SafeStrap]DeOdexed/Extreme Debloat/Stock/Android L Features/Under 40
Hello There,
Was interested in installing your rom, but had a few questions first about the process of how to get the rom working on my AT&T S5.
I'm currently on Baseband Version (G900AUCU2ANG3) and from my understanding I need to acquire root first before installing SafeStrap by doing the following correct?
Follow the [How-To] Root G900AUCU2ANG3 Method: .http://forum.xda-developers.com/att-galaxy-s5/general/g900and3tong3keeprootota-zip-t2862299
Once I acquire root I can install SafeStrap by following: [RECOVERY LOCKED/ND3] Safestrap Recovery v3.75 [2014-06-26 B03] http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2794087
After I complete the above procedures I can flash your rom?
Thanks in advance.

What is the file name of these 2 graphics? I would like to remove them.

I used towelroot to root which is much easier, but the other method should work as well.
As long as you use the stock ROM slot, you shouldn't have any issues.

I believe they are located in either a framework apk or the settings apk. Unfortunately, I don't have access to the PC with the modified files on it until later tonight. Feel free to do some digging around for it until I find it and post my results here.

Hey, I found both of them and deleted them. I reloaded the Rom and it looks like they are still there they just look a little different. Can I delete all Textfeild.png files?
You COULD, but you might get crashes. I do have an updated framework apk that I just uploaded if you want to manually install it from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2941846.
Trying it out now!
Hi I have a dumb problem there r many different google play service versions and I've been downloading and installing random apks of google play services so I need to know the default google play services number so if some1 could post a reply with the last 3 numbers after the - that would be great (ex. I would use 3.1. I have 3.15 uploaded since I haven't yet found any breaking bugs yet if you want the latest. Just wipe cache and dalvik them flash 3.15 of you're already running one of my builds.

Anything in v1.x is unthemed. I think 1.8 is the last one.
3.15
Something is wrong with the google login, even if I try to flash over 3.1 with 3.15 after having logged into google with 3.1 the play store won't load.

Did you wipe system at least before reverting back to 3.1?
3.15?
I can't seem to find the changelog for 3.15, the changelog in the drive folder doesn't reach 3.15
Also, whenever I install 3.15 is says "android is updating, optimizing apps" on first boot, then google play doesn't work.
Installed like:
Wipe Format-> reboot-> fix permissions-> Install 3.1-> Install superuser-> set up google-> wipe cache/dalvik-> install 3.15-> install su-> fix permissions
3.1 works great though, and is great, so I guess I'll stick with that unless I missed something simple..

I wasn't reverting back, I was trying to install 3.15. I did it to work by first installing 3.1 and updating google apps and then flashing over with 3.15. It's a work around.
A 3.15 clean install will not allow google sign in, and yes I wipe/format all directories, including system. and I make sure System is mounted before wiping.
I'm on 5.1.1 and stock but rooted and have TWRP installed. I'm trying to get xpossed framework installed. But when I try to flash it. It give me errors that it is not correct. Anyone have any luck with this. Which files did you flash to get it correct.
