My dad recently bought a HTC One X from someone who had tried to root the phone and for what I understood he removed some important files and now it won't even start/boot. He gave it to me because he gave up on fixing it. I have tried using key combinations to get it to boot in recovery mode but it won't respond to anything. When I connect it to my PC using a USB cable it won't even detect the device. Is there any way to fix this or is it beyond repairs?

To use ADB or Fastboot your phone has to be in USB Debugging mode Set this in Settings/Developer Options on the phone.
My HTC One is bricked and is not starting, HOW should I do that?

Manners cost nothing and generally help you to get a reply.
That being said, without further information it's hard to help..
What did you do to brick?
Can you get to bootloader?
Can you get to fastboot usb?
The more information you provide, the more help can be offered. Remember WE aren't holding your phone. WE can try things on it. That will fall to you, all we can do is offer suggestions based on as much information as you can provide.
If you bricked it trying to s-off or burning an RUU or accepting an OTA whilst you had a modded hboot then things might not be looking too good but without knowing, there's no help we can offer.

My HTC was kinda bricked 2 hours ago. Can't charge can't boot to recovery or boot loader . Only thing was try to reset using hold power + vol down but wasn't working . The capacitive buttons keep flashing forever
But I used the adb commands to get it back booting to recovery .
U need the adbfiles in the same folder as cmd command prompt usually it's win 32 if u start it in administration mode .
Type adb reboot bootloader

its best to put it in the same folder as the cmd starts from
Also its advisable to keep à rom zip handy in yr sdcard . In case things go wrong u dont need to rely on adb commands

Hey,
I didn't mean it bad. Also I didn't want real help since I actually gave up my HTC One...
Theres a big link in my signature with my "need help" topic.. Maybe you do know how to fix my One ^_^
I accidentally posted this in HTC wrong section. There I found out this to be a Sprint one.
Hey guys.
I am back. After a long time. U guys helped to fix my HTC orbit.
Now I got another one. It's got no OS when I got it.
I am posting some pictures for better presentation.
Front
Back
The issue I have is seen below.
Closeup
All I can get to from the phone is what you see in the picture.
I need a good ROM for this.
Please advice what I should do.
Thanks
It appears to be a Sprint One
You can fix it by running the RUU found HERE
thnx bigdaddy619.
Are u sure it would do the trick.
I believe I have to update thru sync manager.
I downloaded the HTC sync manager and and tried to see if it detects the phone.
I don't think it does cause I do not see my phone android version or sense version or anything in sync manager.
I can see the Android USB Device in the device manager. I believe the USB drivers are installed. The phone changes to FASTBOOT USB when I connect the USB cable. Means the phone enters FASTBOOT automatically.
Do I still go about download the RUU ROM from HTC and try it?
The HTC sync app says it cannot find device

search a little dude, that problem has been solved a hundred times in the sprint forum
It worked. Changed some settings.
Now another problem.... Installed TWRP and restarted. Now back to square one. Same as before.
But it does boot to TWRP but not to OS.
Update gives an unknown error 115.
So removed TWRP. Now it is stuck in HTC logo with white background not black original boot logo. It won't turn off. So had to let the battery go down to shutdown. Now charging. Will try the original ROM again and post back.
sorry
Bummer
It says

What to do :crying:

So I re-locked the bootloader trying o flash using the RUU but that wasn't working.
Solution: I flash the Firmware for Sprint Verizon and BOMB ! Like Magic my baby came back!

Lately my HTC One shut off while typing on it and it was dead.
Holding power for 10 seconds (and any of the combination with the volume buttons) did not help.
And when you connect it to the power does not even had the red led indicating that is charging.
If you connect it to a PC you get prompted to install the QHSUSB_DLOAD drivers.
So the phone is dead but not really completely dead.
Clearly that QHSUSB_DLOAD is a Qualcom hook that could be use to debug and probably re-flash the phone. The question is what is this tool and how do you use it?
I think there is some sort of standard way to recover across phone (maybe not all with a Qualcomm but I am sure that the protocol is the same among a few processors).
There are a few examples out there:
[UNBRICK] HTC Unbricking Project - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1627886
DLOADTool - https://github.com/posixninja/DLOADTool
http://xiaomi.eu/community/threads/ultimate-cure-to-the-qhsusb_dload-of-mi2-s.20567/
And a lot of info about HTC internal here: http://tjworld.net/wiki/Android/HTC/Vision
So I wonder if anybody here has some idea about the tools and how to use to resurrect HTC phones and in particular the HTC One (M7).

Try and let it charge for an hour or so. Use a wall charger, not USB. If you still get the same thing, it's more than likely bricked. Unfortunate, but true.
Should probably put this in the Q&A

Isn't accessing the phone through QHSUSB DLOAD a developer topic?
The phone has been plug in for a few days. I also fund somewhere that the phone in QHSUSB DLOAD does not charge. I pretty sure in QHSUSB DLOAD the USB voltage just power the circuit necessary for the QHSUSB DLOAD communication.
Thread closed as duplicate/triplicate/quadruplicate of QHSUSB_DLOAD - What is the protocol?. Please continue the discussion there.

no its not an M7.
In the attached picture of your first post, you can see MEM_WL (first line in bootloader).
MEM_WL = HTC One mini 2 Verizon version.
If you had a Verizon M7 it would be M7WLV
