I think you do. I tried it once in cwm and it failed, it could also have been a different issue but it works fine with the boot.img of the zip. Just keep in mind to store the zip on the internal storage before you flash the kernel and after wiping it.and that the recovery menu is very dim, you should avoid bright conditions.
Video or pictures
I would like to see how the cyanogenmod works on the Z3 Compact. Could you send me a video or some pictures?
Thanks!
Lukas

My Bluetooth headset was acting up when i had the built in equalizer (AudioFx) turned on , try to turn it off and see if it helps.
I also installed viper4android instead which is way better.
Thanks, this worked for me

I've just installed with cyano recovery, everything was fine..
I want to report that somethimes the mic recorder loss some seconds while i'm using it..i've just updated now the nightly
need to test it again
anyway i'm really happy, the phone for me is now really faster than the stock rom.
Camera button
Anyone figure out how to remap the camera button yet?
So i'm kind of a noob here I guess but I thought to install this one would need to have their device rooted (like I had) and I have it on my device working perfectly, the only problem is the phone is telling me that it is not rooted and thus not letting me use titanium backup and greenify etc.
Is it just me, or is the Auto Updater not rebooting to recovery after downloading the cm-12-20150214-NIGHTLY-z3c -
I did extract and ABD'flashed the boot.img
And theres still an issue with the LED brightness and audio engine wakeup ( Sound seems dim at first, and sometimes notification audio is skipped, almost like it is in hibernation and cant always get out of it ) , cant seem to find it in the fixlog or changelog either
I just got cm12 setup on my galaxy tab 8.4, the only issue i notice thus far is that im finding it impossible to set a different wallpaper on my lockscreen from my gallery pics... If i want to use one of my personal backgrounds i have to use the same as my homescreen. The only way to change just the lockscreen background is to pick one from a theme i downloaded but that option sucks because i never use theme backgrounds... Anyone have a workaround or is that something well have to wait on in another nightly? I was able to do this easily in cm11, just had to go to lockscreen in settings and themes and i could pick it there

Go to Settings, Developer Options, then a few settings from the top you will see "Root access", click it and choose "Apps and ADB" or just "Apps only" (if you don't use ADB).
After root access is enabled you can install SuperSU from the Play Store (or just use the CM root access if you don't want SuperSU).....
Thanks that worked perfectly!
Another problem though (or else me just being silly and overlooking something simple) that when I boot to recovery it brings up the Cyanogenmod Recovery and there is no option to Backup my files. The only options I have are to wipe everything or reboot.

When you flash boot.img from the nightly .zip file you get the CM Recovery. You are correct in that there is no backup option. Use Titanium or some other app to back up your stuff. You can also use a different recovery but you may run into a different problem where the phone identifies itself as "aries" and won't flash the ROM. The CM Recovery takes care of that problem.
Anyone found a fix to the dim notification led issue? I think its related to the CM recovery. Anyone that can confirm this issue aswell?
I have a tab pro 8.4 running cm12 latest nightlies and i cant get adblock plus to work on it. Ive tried everything. It ran beautifully on cm 11 but on cm12 it FCs either right after u launch it or sometimes i can almost get done downloading the site block list. I have the wifi only version of the sm-t320 if that helps. Any ideas anyone? Either a way to fix it or an alternative app?

+1. Loving it but the notification LED is basically invisible compared to the stock ROM. Anyone know of a fix for this?
A couple of issues I've run into is sometimes bluetooth audio gets sped-up so my music sounds like it is playing a 2x speed (Google play music) and I'm unable to activate any accessibility services (I can get into the cancel or ok screen but can't click ok). Anybody else have these or know a workaround?

I got the LG Optimus 2X with the F-secure app. preinstalled.
Is it possible to remove the app without rooting the phone?
How about just remove the annoying notification sound, when the F-secure app scans installations or sd-card.
Has someone found a solution ?
Also interested in getting rid of the sound on f-secure.
As far as I know, there is no way to uninstall F-Secure as it is in system partition.
Don't be afraid to root tho, getting back is easy and with Paul's (paulobrien) ROM the phone is AMAZINGly fast!

Direct link for more info please?
Just take a look around development forum here You'll find everything what you need there.
Thinks to look for and to read about:
1) Rooting (matter of 2 minutes)
2) Installing custom recovery (Clockwork mod, CWM), matter of a minute
3) Choosing ROM without LG's crapware and installing (try Gilgamesh), requires some basic knowledge of installing custom rom to your phone, it's the same for most of the phones, check some videos on youtube (for whatever phone, nexus one will work, desire too and so on). You get into recovery AFTER installing clockwork mod by turning the phone of and turning it on again while holding volume down button. Keep them down until you see "ANDROID" on you phone and then release both buttons
I'm sorry to resurrect this thread, but does anyone know how to remove the annoying notification sound from F-Secure or if there is a notification modifier available in the market?
I never found a way to remove the sounds, so I stopped using it and is now looking for an alternative.
I see. Well there are alternatives I guess. Have you tried emailing their support and seeing?
I just want to post an update to this thread. If you download the latest app from their website it does have an option to remove the sound I believe. I don't use this application anymore.
Sent from my LG-P990 using XDA App
I downloaded the latest version (7.1) from f-secure.mobi today and still can't find any option to disable the sound.

Well, is there a problem with flashing the .zip or does the app dont work properly?
I used this (first two .zips) and this.
If that is still not working you should try that too.
The app works ok, but the sound is the same, its like doesn't have any effect.
I'll try lá ter.
Its not only Q&A but a thread with the app funcional to ower device.

I got V4A working by using the zip/apk standard download, then installing the apk as usual (making it a User app).
Install the V4A driver.
Make sure your Compatibility Mode is set to Normal.
Reboot.
Install SE Linux Mode Changer app from the Play Store (or edit your build.prop) to switch your SE mode to Permissive. (L's default is Enforcing.)
Open V4A up and tick the Enable box to use V4A on the ”phone speaker” tab.
Play some music! Check to see if it is working by unticking the phone speaker Enable box.
*If* it still doesn't work... Try the following one at a time:
Set Compatibility Mode to Compatible.
Tick the Force Enforce V4A under the phone speaker tab.
Install as a System app instead of a User app.
Try a different music player app. I'm using Shuttle+ and it works perfectly. I've heard some player apps don't work as well as others though.
Hoping this helps you a bit. It seems to be one of those trial & error things to get Viper set up on Lollipop. I even have to do things a tad differently to get it working on my Nexus 4 & 5.
?
Ty worked Great. I didn't Changed to permissive.
Maybe some moderator could move this thread to Q&A?

Make sure you use the right .apk for 5.0 (should be A4.x).

Hello, thanks for the response. However, v4a kept force closing constantly and continually so I'm not able to navigate within the device. My biggest idiotic move was I didn't make a nandroid....assuming all will be good.
Anyways, I'm now on a hunt to flash stock rooted rom. If you have any info on that would greatly appreciate it.
Thanks.

OK all the file flashing is not useful at all if ur running stock. The only reason they exist is for DIFFERENT DEVICES, meaning ur flashing crap that is meant for something else and can have bad consequences. The flushable zips all have scripts that add lib files or script to build.prop. The flushable zips also seem to mess with any app that handles kernel configuration. ie if u like to change clock speeds, nothing would stick on this tablet after I flashed those v4a zips. Would always revert to stock.
For v4a to work. FIRSTLY run selinux mode changer. The person that said they got this to work without it is wrong. Dead wrong. The driver will NOT I STILL OR INITIALIZE UNLESS SELINUX IS PERMISSIVE. This must be done to allow android to install the driver to the kernel. Period. Run selinux mode changer, set to permissive, reboot. Check selinux, sometimes u will have to do it 3-4 times for it to stick. Then install the newest v4a from their site I think it's @ 2.3.4.0 the older versions needed the flashable zips for some files the Nexus lollipop update didn't have. They fixed this. Now just install the app normally, then open it and install the driver. Reboot. If u r on cyanogen unlock the developer options and turn off or unchecked "use nuplayer" finally, if u use gone mad music player go to options, audio, tell it to use external dsp.
Profit!
I've never needed to use compatibility mode or anything else. Works like a champ.
There is a way to get Marshmallow on the HTC ONE Sprint M7, it's called VanirAOSP ROM. This is a great in most ways, and it's now my daily driver, but be very careful, I almost bricked my phone a few times in setting things up. Here are some tips from what I learned.
Installation instructions (learned from this video, other sources, and hard work):
1) Unlock bootloader.
2) Install custom recovery like TRWP. If you have an old version of TWRP, upgrade it using TRWP Manager or Flashify.
3) Download latest nightly ROM from http://www.emccann.net/nuclearmistake/VanirAOSPNightlies/m7spr/.
4) Download gapps. Biker57 suggests gapps from http://www.emccann.net/dho/5-Gapps/ as it's supposed to cause fewer force closes. I believe 60arm-DHO-GAPPs.zip is the correct file name.
5) Download SuperSU. Biker57 likes SuperSU v2.64 found here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=64161125.
6) Copy all 3 downloads (in .zip format) to the phone (internal storage, like the TWRP folder)
7) Enter bootloader (volume down and power button), then select bootloader.
8) Backup the current ROM, just in case things go bad like they did for me.
9) From TWRP, enter advanced wipe and select system, data, cache, and dalvik cache. Do not select internal storage as you will lose your current backup and other zips if you do (there is an exception to this, as I did it, but I nearly bricked my phone). Now slide to wipe.
10) Go to install, and first select the ROM's zip. Then choose add more zips and select the gapps zip you downloaded. Next select SuperSU. Now slide to install.
11) Be patient during install.
12) Wipe dalvik cache.
13) Reboot to system (aka phone).
14) Enable Developer Options (if you want), by going to Settings->About and hitting Build Number many times until it's enabled.
Known issues and workarounds:
-Camera app force closes after taking a picture - the picture saves, so just reload Camera app. I've also had good luck using Z Camera then viewing the preview before hitting back to reenter the camera app.
-Stock dialer FCs randomly - Install another dialer app, like True Phone.
-Facebook and Facebook Messenger force closes - use mobile website, which actually isn't too bad, or try the instructions listed here.
-Flashlight turns off after 3 seconds - use the cameras flash instead.
Known issues with no good workarounds:
-FM Radio doesn't work.
-Bluetooth audio doesn't work for phone calls most of the time.
-Switching the battery mode causes the brightness to change randomly - don't ever switch away from balanced mode
Other stuff
-You can find more about the updates made to Vanir ROM here.
-It's risky to play around with the radio, but if you want to try it they are listed here.
-Intersted in supporting Varin, you can donate here.
Please let me know if I missed anything. And feel free to copy freely if it helps others.

First off, good tutorial. :good:
Vanir is a great ROM but this Sprint ROM still has a lot of bugs in it. I've used the first Vanir Marshmallow ROM to the most recent and a plethora of bugs have been squashed. But this ROM is still not DD ready, the camera , torch, gapps, browser and settings are broken. I am not saying this ROM is bad, just that its not fully ready yet. Depending on the dev, this rom should be DD ready in 2-3 weeks, they've been releasing more often now. Thank the developer if you know him but if you're the developer, thank you.
We should try to get the dev to see if they can put up a Vanir thread with change logs and the whole shebang.
I'm glad this thread was started and the OP was done well. I've been using this ROM for a while and thought I'd pass along my thoughts and what works for me.
This rom has become my daily driver after learning how to fix a couple of issues. After the latest update of 2/18 the biggest issues of not having a cellular/data connection has been corrected. The only issues that remain for me at least are the camera and Facebook issues. Although the camera does force close it does so for me at least after the picture is taken and saved so it's all good for me. The Facebook issues are corrected by deleting a file in both the Facebook and Messenger file.
The following method works for me without boot loops or any other issues and hopefully will work for you too. I flash these all at the same time loaded in the order listed and don't forget to make a backup before you start just in case.
1 - Flash the 2/18 nightly just like you would any rom http://www.emccann.net/nuclearmistak...ghtlies/m7spr/
2 - flash the gapps found here http://www.emccann.net/dho/5-Gapps/ and select the 60arm file near the bottom.
3 - flash Super SU 2.64 found here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=64161125 There are new versions, but the 2.64 has continued to work for me.
4 - Reboot
As I said earlier this works for me and I've used this method with their roms successfully a number of times. Good Luck !!
Thank the developer if you know him but if you're the developer, thank you.

Hello,
Flashing SuperSU through recovery is a better way, atleast for Marshmallow ROMs now. I'm using latest beta version (SuperSU v2.67) without any issues. It can be found in official SuperSU thread here.
As of camera issues, you can use 3rd party camera apps like Camera FV-5, ProShot or etc. Of course they cost few bucks but worth it. Issue doesn't solve totally in this ROM but app doesn't force close, instead freezes for few sec and then works again.
This ROM is my DD and faced no major issues so far. What I'm mostly missing is fast charge feature in kernel otherwise normally it takes plenty of hours to fully charge.
Kindly note; you have to flash gapps provided by the ROM developer. Other gapps like open gapps will endup with FC.
Thanks...
Best Regards

I flashed the gapps provided by the ROM developer, but the Gmail app is force closing due to "unknown issue with Google Play services.".
Then I tried using USB OTG to read my sd card reader in TWRP, but TWRP won't mount it. The issue started right after I booted the ROM the first time; I know because I installed the ROM from my sd card using USB OTG.
I still want this to be my daily driver, because the software is so much faster that 4.3, but I'm not convinced yet.

Even if you install supersu from playstore, it ask to reboots to recovery to install supersu. But before you accept to reboot, you'll have to enable root access to apps in developer options. Otherwise supersu cannot reboot or go into recovery.
Anyhow, instead of going through all these, I simply flash supersu zip from recovery.

The problem isn't using Google calendar, the problem is syncing Google calendar. I tried waiting, rebooting, re-adding my account, and everything else, but that didn't help.
Only downgrading Google Play services worked, and then Google calendar synced right away.
Thanks for the suggestions. Hopefully as they update the ROM it'll get resolved more fully.
Hi everyone!
I have a rooted Z3C and it is a fantastic phone, I love it. The problem is that I bought a television sport service that includes the possibility to watch games on your phone, it's called Bein Sport. This app is able to detect root and refuse to play any videos so the service I bought becomes kind of useless
The worst part is that I don't want to mess around, just want to watch games on my phone and use the service for what it was thought. Si I thought i'd give a shout here, has anyone been able to bypass that annoying feature? I don't even understand why they don't like rooted phone
thanks!

There is an Xposed module for masking root on your phone, not sure if it will work or not. There is another Xposed app that offers help as well.
Installing Xposed can sometimes be tricky, make sure you find the right arm zip or you could be facing bootloops.

I use Xposed, it's very popular and works fine on the Z3c. I think the emphasis is to read about it before you do it, as many people rush in, go to downloads, install the one with the latest build number and then come crying to the forum about bootloops.
The fact that you have read ahead on the page before you did anything assures me that you won't mess it up :good:
If it reassures you, I am using xposed-v80-sdk22-arm.zip on a 5.1.1. build. But there are more recent versions out now, although I don't know what the advantages of using those are. Perhaps later versions cover the use of MM. Can anybody enlighten me on that?
Edit: Once you have flashed the installer in recovery, restart the phone and then install XposedInstaller_3.0_alpha4.apk
With that installed and running you can find the modules and install them.
Each install or change of settings requires a restart.

Thanks! I'm gonna procede and give you a heads up! cheers
I am unable to flash the xposed.zip in recovery (Philz). It says "failed to set up expected mounts for install". I have tried on internal SD, external SD and even USB... any idea?

Check you have root, install SuperSU and make sure it's up to date

Yep, installed, up do date, and some apps even use my root without any issues
If anyone comes here, here is what happened to me: I tried to install Xposed to try this trick but my phone would'nt falsh because it couldn't mount /system. I assumed that it was a problem with partitions. I tried deleting root manually but the app always found root even when I wasn't rooted anymore (beware, this app is pretty smart). I ended up having to go back to stock which sucks because the battery is really bad in comparison, but anyway I can watch football! Cheers
Hi all.
I installed cm13 on my mi5 pro yesterday. Looking good so far. I only have minor issues. The first and most important is I can't swap the back and recent button. I've already got used to miui method ( back on the right, recent button on the left).
How can I change them on cm13? Unfortunately closed+gravity can't help me, because after installing them my banking app (Barclay's) thinks that my phone is rooted and closes with an FC. I've also tried the buttons on the screen option, but in this way I lose screen size, though I can change the buttons I believe.
The other small issue is that I don't really like the menu in this alphabetical order system. Can I use something else instead? Like what is in Nova launcher, just a normalenu, nothing else.
Thanks for the help in advance.
Cheers!
the first issue is related to kernel... when cm will be based on the kernel released from xiaomi, the problem will be solved. don't worry, developers are working on it
I found the a method and it is working:

For the drawer style you can change that in the launcher's settings. Long press a free spot on your home screen, then press settings and change style to "compact".
This swaps the two capacitive buttons around to xiaomi setup instead of Google
you can also find it on this url: https://store.shade.sh/mi5/ from the unofficial cm13 weekly build thread if you do not wish to download it from myself
Thank you guys its working like a miracle.
Now I have another problem, but this time it looks massive.
So my problem is that cm13 is pre rooted when you install it. Well, I have no problem with it, but unfortunately my banking app ( Barclay's) has. I can't use it, because it says rooted device not supported. I've already checked developer options, and root access is disabled, but this doesn't help, I still have issues with the app. I tried flash SuperSU+binaries from twrp, opened app after flash and use full unroot, same problem, banking app thinks my phone is still rooted. I'm thinking about trying out the slim (aosp based) ROM if I can't find any working method.
Can you guys help me with this?
Thank you one again

Tried out this method, but as soon as I tried to start banking app, it closed with an fc. Yes I remember now, that was the problem few days back.
Hm...I can't think anything else..

Try using shade.sh's userbuilds. They are built without built in root. They are under the category "userbuilds" on his website.
Success!
I had to install aosp to to realize what's the problem here. After I did that the same problem happened.: Banking app says my phone is rooted. So I tried doing the same methods on aosp what I did on cm13, except Xposed+gravity because I knew my apps gonna FC. So I tried safe unroot apk from play store, no luck. I also tried this app the night before.
Then i thought maybe I should enable root in developer options, because yesterday morning with this was a half success, Barclays mobile banking app( debit card) said, the device is rooted, I touched ok, then it started without any problems. It was only half success, because the other app Barclaycard (credit card) didn't work, same problem: the phone is rooted. So I tried out the following, and that was the complete success:
Enabled root access for apps only in dev options than i started safe unroot from play->everything's working like a charm.
Thank you guys for help!
